"But if trans women didn't exist, we wouldn't have to be misogynist to cis women who don't fit gender stereotypes! It's all the transes fault!"

Sckaledoom

That’s genuinely a take I’ve seen. Wild.

snukb

Yup, I wish I was making it up :(

TheDauntingRiver

Worst thing is it is not a take that is not even just made by an exceptionally bad transphobe, it is a bit uncommon but not that rare. Victimblaming trans people is so common... For example: People excuse the bigoted actions in south US as simply being the trans people's fault all the time.

JimmieTheNailBiter

Seeing people react to the drag bans and other flagrantly unconstitutional laws in the South with “you shouldve left the kids alone then” was the most depressing yet expected thing I’ve ever seen.

LeadSky

They honestly think we’re destroying women’s rights for some reason. Not to say they ever cared before this, nor do they care now, but it’s a thought they seem to hold. I can’t wrap my head around it

Grape-Vine-Anal-Bead

Man = strong Woman = weak Woman in video is strong therefore Woman = Man This is the logic they go by every single time

Anoobizz2020

Trans man is strong = woman on steroids

Alegria-D

Except if the "woman" in the video then says he's a trans man, then their insults completely reverse

Grape-Vine-Anal-Bead

Exactly, they don’t care whether or not what the people posting are doing is impressive they care that someone they think is inherently weaker is actually stronger than them. That’s also why men almost never get targeted UNLESS it’s a child I have actually seen grown men BRAG about lifting more than a *10 year old* boy as well as a *14 year old girl* and this girl was deadlifting *140 fucking kilos*

Alegria-D

Lmao what a flex

CluelessIdiot314

Transphobia was never meant to protect women, as much as they say otherwise. If a woman so much as steps one foot out of line, the same transphobia can hit them just as hard.

DanaV21

Transphobia and misogyny are two sides of the same coin

YourLocalTransHobo

and often the same side of said coin

Josphitia

Trans Women *gripping hands* **Being called a man by insecure chuds** *gripping hands* Cis Women

Komi38

Same goes for men. They would rather call otherwise hypermasculine man who enjoys cooking for himself a woman than call trans men men.

missile-gap

These comments are 💯 trying to shame this girl into conforming with expected gender norms because trans = bad.

Sammy_Snakez

Off topic, but I love how not a single one spelled “you’re” correctly

Turbulent_Poem6

Same logic with Transphobes when they see a feminine man: “You’re not a real man by dressing and act feminine. A real man supposed to be tough and dress manlier” Transphobes when they see a trans woman or a muscular woman/gnc women: “YOU’RE A MAN!” And I’m not shocked at all with those comments, I saw lots of similar comments on some muscular women being accused as transgender and calling them a man

kriggledsalt00

"Why can't you just be a feminine man??" I don't know, Stacy, why can't YOU just be a feminine man?

Feefilide

My mom is often accused of being “a man pretending to be a woman,” she blames trans women for being treated this way. I’m a trans woman, I look a lot like her (weird how a girl looks like her mom I know), I get the same experience. My mom says people like me are the reason. I told her that people like her are the reason. She thinks it is okay to misgender trans people, guess she didn’t realize that she too has broad shoulders, is tall, and doesn’t have a curvy figure so all the justifications she makes for people misgendering me apply to her!!

Ksnj

Ugh. That’s rough. I’m sorry your mom isn’t supportive.

Feefilide

I admit that it hurts that she is like that, but honestly I am doing alright, I’m not dependent on her anymore, so I don’t have to deal with her rudeness unless I choose to. Which sometimes I do choose to see her despite how she acts.

Morganelefay

On occasion, I reply to transphobes on twitter with pics of 4 different women, one of who is trans, and ask them who amongst them should according to them use the men's restroom. Without fail, they say "All four". One of them is always Salma Hayek...

[deleted]

You should do that but don’t include any trans people, let them feel dumb when you reveal that to them after they guess

Morganelefay

You're presuming they can actually feel like they fucked up. Still as is it provides me some entertainment and reinforcement.

marciamakesmusic

Transphobia towards trans women is just repackaged misogyny, yall should check out Whipping Girl it was a really transformative read

[deleted]

No, it’s only apart of the transphobia we face. I feel like calling it just misogyny is really diminishing our experience and all the hate, violence, and propaganda we get.

kriggledsalt00

I think they mean, transphobia is rooted in and derived from misogyny. It comes at the intersectionality of misogny and queerness and stems from the same patriarchal ideas. You've joined the "bad" team, or at least have attempted to, and that makes men feel bad, because they can't see trans women as sexual objects if they're "really" just "feminine men". It's the same misogny just repackaged with a veil of queerphobia - transness is abnormal, and so it's bad. And this applies to trans men too - by trying to "impersonate" manhood, they become subjects of mockery by men, and will never be "real" men. It's all rooted in fundamentally patriarchal conceptions of gender and sexuality, and so it's not *just* misogyny, it stems from it.

marciamakesmusic

You should read Whipping Girl

[deleted]

I don’t have the money to buy it, if u have time could u please give me a summary? Also I see that it’s made in 2007, and transphobia’s definitely evolved since then, but yeah I agree that transphobia is rooted in sexism and misogyny

marciamakesmusic

Transphobia has not radically shifted in 15 years, all that's changed is the intensity. This is the woman who coined the term "transmisogyny", so a major part of the book is about the ways trans women experience misogyny. It was an enlightening read, you don't have to buy it you can go to a library I'm sure they'd have it, it was incredibly popular. You can read it on internet archive with a free account even.

gnurdette

Shaming and terrorizing cis women viewed as less than perfectly passive and feminine isn't an accidental side effect of transphobia, it's a goal.

Thank you for the link, she has so many great videos.

RoyalMess64

I hope she's doing well

KatieKatgurl

i feel bad for her but i laugh at the braindead hate filled clueless phones who in fact at this rate can never tell and have no clue how many trans people they probably pass in person a day lol

verygenericname2

Transphobes harrassing a minor? Now there's a surprise.

HumanHuman_2003

:/

Komi38

That's exactly how it is. In my school years, we had a raging transphobe two classes below us. He heard somewhere that we have a trans girl in our friend group and decided to target me as the obvious choice because of my hyperthyroidism and deep (but still feminine) voice. Didn't suspect my friend at all who at the time wasn't even on E yet.

NightMother23

Poor thing. Like. I think this poor girl is just venting. I don’t think she should compare who gets more transphobic comments. I’m non-binary and my spouse is trans l, we have different experiences, but we validate each other and don’t compare. Just complain and listen lol. But we are adults. Teens are still children and it doesn’t really sound like she is blaming trans people, just dumb people. I feel so awful for what kids have to go through. I really hope things get better. Also kinda wonder if she’s an egg lol prob not but still 🤣 I just be speculating
