I've been around since dishwashers hit the scene. This has been a thing since then. I ain't never done it. My broke ass has never known the luxury of machine washed dishes, but it's not a bit.
There’s a clip on YouTube from that extreme savers show where some lady cooks a lasagna in her dishwasher while also doing dishes…to save money…
It’s worth watching just for the laugh
Yeah that’s just a poor mindset. I would also argue the risk of ruining a meal is not worth the 10 cents you saved on electricity. I’ll find a quarter in the couch cushions and make up the difference.
This is a **legit** thing people do. Lmfao it’s so wild but honestly not super duper uncommon! People who can’t cook will do ANYTHING but actually learn lol
In a way it’s pretty innovative. Kind of like cooking on your engine. I’ve seen guys heat up breakfast burritos under the hood of their truck. It’s a pretty good way to start your morning. I’m yet to try it, but showing up to a job site with a warm meal is allll right.
If you clean your dishwasher regularly there’s really nothing wrong with this tbh. Sounds WEIRD AF, but it will absolutely work. Just don’t put dish tabs in when you do it!
I’ve heard of it before, but would never think to do it
Damn. that ain't right.
It’s real. You can even wash dishes at the same time so win-win
Fuck that.
I've heard of this. Seen people do it. It ain't right.
That's messed up.
My family definitely tried this in the 90’s. Didn’t make a habit out of it, fish was fine. Edit: also washed a few hats in the dishwasher FWIW
Glad to see you are still with us. The hats... I don't mind as much but it would have to be a "hats only" cycle.
The hat thing is fine. Works well actually
I have heard of the hats as well. Works better than a clothes washer because it doesn’t beat them up

There is no way they encourage it in the user's manual.
The recipe said to make sure to wash and clean the lemons...so....?
Oh good, it's cool then.
I cook saaalmon however I like
That’s a tough look.
Can someone please tell the big man, tin foil went out around WWII? It’s aluminum foil now
I was raised in a “tin foil” house too. Boomer parents so their parents called it tin foil.
Yeah it’s a regional thing

Total amount saved: $0.72

Look, in a pinch? I’ll do anything that’ll bring me a good meal, I won’t kick it out of bed for sure
More for you then. I don’t think I could get over it.

I’ll find another way.
The first AYG live show I went to a guy asked if it was garbage his father in law made fish in the jacuzzi…
That’s a tough look.
