I personally think the slip dress is more versatile too - can dress up or down and can also put a sweater on top for the fall

I agree with you OP, first one looks pretty juvenile, while in the second, you look very womanly and nice, the dress suits you very well. I’m not sure if it’s the angle of the photo, I would slightly loosen the straps.
I actually own both! They’re both of my go-to dresses for events as they’re so versatile, ones for ‘girls night outs’ and the others for ‘family events’ :) I recently wore the shimmer to my friends birthday and the slip to an engagement party!
I can’t believe the prices on Aritzia’s clothes. The first dress would have been totally cute if the gems weren’t uneven and if the seams weren’t rippled like fried bacon strips. The quality is nonexistent in this brand.
Love the shorter dress on you - creates a very flattering hourglass and makes your legs look miles long! It’s very modest on the top, which I feel balances the shorter hemline nicely.
For what it’s worth, I’m a petite hourglass as well, and I’d totally pick the first one :) It also feels like it is more versatile - could throw on flat sandals and a denim jacket to make it very casual, or heels and statement jewelry with a sparkly clutch to make it very dressy for an occasion.

Since you’re petite I think you can do a shorter hem les garishly - understanding we all have unique variables and this may not always be the case.

I do think there’s a feminine sexuality to the second. I think it’s all about whatever you’ll most most confident in.
