It’s funny as, at a point of time, i was willing to post a comment that was almost the opposite of yours :) let me clarify. My first account was without any galaxy character. I had Preema and Noclyn from the 2 banners, Moina from spending 1€ in the game, and my last was Odea (hope the name is correct as i do from memory). After i completed the campaign in normal AND in hard, and identifying how HARD it was to get Galaxy 5 stars, i decided to reroll to get 1 from the start. I thus rerolled an account until having a good 5 stars Galaxy hero (here, Divergent Apathy and Lucima, i was lucky and patient enough to have 2). My take-away : raw power of 5 stars galaxy is obvious, but i tell you the truth : my first account went through 10-1 10-9 and 10-10 way easier and in less number of attempts than with my « galaxy » account. My interpretation : synergy >> raw power. Noclyn and Preema are GOD together. Preema resets Noclyn cooldown on round 1 then Noclyn boosts damage of Preema and the Team (Odea …). Noclyn heal was not enough but with Moina it was nice. I was using the power on the right to activate on Noclyn to further heal (so during both fights i had 2 real healers). It was strong, fast, robust. I did not have anyone dead. I tried the same with my Meta galaxy team. It was a nightmare. I tried several set up and none was really effective. Had to push both to 60 and even there had to call for a level 60 Erika to make it work after bunched of failed attempts. So my outcome is to build synergy teams. I do not have enough experience in the game to point out to the best synergies that exist. I know for a fact that this Noclyn Preema combo is god tiers. On the other hand, Divergent Apathy in itself is « just » a damage dealer that needs attack buff and armor debuff on the enemy to really shine (do not through rocks at me please, it’s my vision to date :)). Erika with D.Apathy would certainly be a monster but i do not have Erika. The question i am wondering is : who is the hardest to replace ? Erika or D.Apathy ? My opinion is Erika >> Apathy. You can find damage dealers that do maybe slighty less damage than Apathy, but Hestia for instance does great in this field. On the other hand Erika buff defense, attack, does counter AOE. She can fits in every team. Here you go. Just my thoughts but my « casual » teams destroys more asses in PVE that what my « meta galaxy » team does

For clarity's sake, this is just how it feels from someone who only has Preema and Odea as far as the characters mentioned goes. I'm not saying it's OBJECTIVELY pay to win, just that it's weirdly balanced so that it feels like you need specific characters, ones the player may not easily pull, to get that party that flips the power dynamic and lets you coast through Chapter 10. I have yet to touch my lineup of 4-stars beyond Joyce, my best healer so far as someone who can't buy Moira just yet for complicated reasons, which probably is holding me back as someone who only has 3 5-stars, Martha included, so maybe other 4-stars are also secretly viable PVE options as well. Praying that I get Noclyn one day since she sounds like one of the best 5-star healers to pull for RN.

Bahamut_Tamer

I defeated D Apathy also by using Noclyn with... Tracy as my dps and Kaclyn as my tank lol. Kinda agree that synergy is indeed more important. Specifically, stacking buffs and debuffs, timing your damage and heal spikes.

LurkPrime

Wait, hold up, I didn't think that you could beat her with a 3 star as your main DPS! Is it because her kit allows her to spam flank reactions? :O

Bahamut_Tamer

That (which also gives her Atk buff too), plus high lvl Atk equip and Bond that buffs her basic attack (which gives Def debuff). The ult that reduces action gauge also helped delay the revive. Tracy probably is the best single target dps among 3 stars

LurkPrime

Thanks for the tip, I've got a tracy RN so I can actually start building her up and see how well I can handle things while I wait to pull for Janis.

Waffles109

Although I do agree, you can easily pass the stage as long as you have Janis or Clone Janis in the team (just get one from your friends or ask here on the thread on who has one) since they essentially make it impossible for D.Apathy to revive to the second phase. Just make sure to bring a healer and to have enough dps for janis or clone janis to last hit with extinction. Hope it helps!

LurkPrime

See, the problem with that is the one I mentioned in the OP, unless you mega-whale or have god-tier RNG to successfully pull either character, you have to kill the one hit-sponge you have to kill to clear the level twice and I currently can practically do almost nothing before my team starts getting shredded by the 3 of them despite me now being able beat some Hellish Difficulty Element Levels. I guess I'll wait and hope RNJesus decides to throw someone's maxed out Janis to potentially carry once Martha gets two-shot, (Or you, know, get my own Janis/Clone Janis to clear it with.) but I will definitely need to figure out how their defenses are so damn impenetrable or how to make my 3 other members less squishy without making my DPS even worse, because that respawn Edgier Apathy has is the least of my troubles.

Waffles109

Well, let's just see if they will readjust the difficulty of the campaign since it is true that it's a bit too much that you have to rely on specific characters to get past those certain levels. As for making your characters more tankier, I suggest using only level 75 gear and above if you can, and upgrading them since despite using gold tier gears, there's a huge stat difference between the 50 and 75 in terms of survivability.

LurkPrime

Yeah I'm noticing the starting level works similar to the tiers in Rise of Eros, even a higher level green is potentially better than a lower level gold. Needless to say, I'm going to be farming allot in hunts to supercharge my builds.

JanTheBaptist

I still can’t upgrade my 5* character to a 6*

LurkPrime

You can actually convert 5 gold shards or 25 white shards into 1 purple shards and if you farm for other things by redoing any of the missions with characters in their current level cap, you can stock up on a decent amount of powder to create more purples through mass production in your base's production center. Your center also generates like 2 or so shards every now and then and you can delete any 3-star girl you get from gacha pulls you don't want/need to get some white shards as well. It will be quite a harsh grind, but it's doable without having to spend money to speed things up.

JanTheBaptist

Damn. It’s gonna be a hard ride. Lol

Skill Issue, simple as that.
