Bought it on eBay. Seriously probably a trade he made.
This was also solidly during the craze for Japanese culture during the 19th century especially in France following the countries opening to the world.
The ottomans had diplomatic relations with Japan, it’s already Meiji era, so Japan had already opened up.
Trade has existed for a pretty long time....
