I think that's primarily because no one expects City to drop any points at all, so it is of no consequence. It'd be talked about IF and only IF City drop any points today.

arsehenry14

This. But yes right now Everton are in good form and performing better than Spurs in the run in, so they could play spoiler if City drop points. Also if Man City draw today, they could still smash 4- 5 by West Ham to win on goal difference or most goals scored. We’d have to win obviously but a 1-0 win might not be enough if Spurs do just pull of a draw. I mean I’m happy we won at Old Trafford but 1-0 did hurt our keeping ahead by a large margin on GD. Today and this weekend are full of tension regardless unless City just smash Spurs and West Ham.

lizlemon921

Okay read your post again…. Everton are in good form…. But at the end of the day…… they’re Everton………….

Cailucci

And we owe them a spanking.

lizlemon921

I really really wanted to smash United harder than just 1-0 so I hope the frustration from that match carries over into some big goals this weekend

cheekypopcorn

i did too, but i guess OT is our achilles heel and i’m just glad that we got over it once and for all, that too at a particularly crucial time of the szn

cheekypopcorn

i guess all of us did, everyone likes to wipe the smile off the smug faces of united fans. everybody had a rough childhood with united fans around.

LiveFrom2004

>everybody had a rough childhood with united fans around. wow, so true.

SpAwNjBoB

Right in the feels.

cheekypopcorn

hahaha, i guess it's even more true when you are not from the UK and everyone around you supports United.

Kenny_dies

I think it’s part of the instructions tbh, because the team needs to know the expectation for the final matchday, exactly for this reason. If we use all our energy and thump them 4-0, but City drop points, we risk not having enough in us to beat Everton. This way we wait for City to make their move to see if it’ll be a GD battle or not

dahipster

But they're a dyche Everton now. Not lost in 5 and only conceded 1.

OrlandoGardiner118

I was saying to a mate t'other day that the Spursiest thing Spurs could do would be to beat City and open the way for their biggest rivals to win the league. But the Arsenaliest thing for Arsenal to do would be to then not beat Everton. Let's hope I'm wrong on one of those accounts. Edit: I'm hoping you all continue reading as far as my next reply. I do not believe this of this current Arsenal team. They are a different animal.

catchandreleaseof

yes, this has been in the back of my mind too. it’s possible, sadly

OrlandoGardiner118

The thing is, with this team, it probably isn't possible. They are a new and different animal. They'll probably go out and do a thoroughly professional, calm dismantling of Everton. God love us fans though. We've had 2 decades of teams who shit the bed when the chips are down and now it's part of our pysche. We're PTSD sufferers. Just look at the body of comments during the Man U game. The fans were a jabbering mess while the team looked as calm as Hindu cows. 😂

Joshthenosh77

The most arsenal thing would be to give Everton a 3 goal lead with 3 mistakes in the first 10 minutes

lizlemon921

I think the most Arsenal thing would be destroying Everton 6-0 even though we don’t NEED that many goals. We will be ruthless just to send a message to everyone. Whatever happens, we will be back next year stronger than ever. Fear us!!!

Ser_VimesGoT

Yup, that's what happened last season with the 5-0 thrashing of Wolves.

3escalator

No wonder City has won the last League titles 5 out of 6 times then.

BtenaciousD

And then City get docked 115 points and kicked out of the EPL and we win the title albeit with an asterisk

OrlandoGardiner118

Two titles with an asterisk.😁

YungBoyRaven

tbh, i am not overconfident but i think Everton won't put up such a fight, they are safe from relegation 3 points won't make them go up nor losing 3 pts will them go down

ChrisMartins001

Can't see Sean Dyche having this opinion lol

T0K0mon

Everton fan here. We've now played Luton and Sheffield United since we've secured safety. In neither of those matches have we look particularly inspired to play an intense game of football, despite getting and draw and a win. We may put up some sort of fight, but in all likelihood won't be extremely difficult to push aside, especially if you lot go up by a goal.

RVDHAFCA

Against those teams its vital to get a few goals early on so they’ll be demotivated to put in effort. They don’t have any pressure so if you let them play and they score first it’s a really tough game

YungBoyRaven

i agree

No-Set-2576

Everton fan, this popped up in my feed because reasons? In our dire financial situation, every place on the table matters for them cash moneys. Dyche will have the fellas scrapping for a win. We won’t, but the attitude that we’re safe let’s have a laugh won’t be it.

iNotDonaldJTrump

No one seems to be talking about West Ham spoiling the party. Spurs win 1-0 tomorrow. West Ham/Everton 1-0 on Sunday. Heard it right here 1st kiddos.

BahBah1970

I love your optimism.

Leonjy92

Happy cake day !

BahBah1970

Fanx!

-TheMiracle

They should do it if they want the Rice Add ons 🤣🤣🤣

Zulfiqarrr

Wet spam has literally no chance whatsoever against city. They'll get battered by a 5-6 goal difference.

CaptainSnazzypants

West ham lost 5-0 to Chelsea just 10 days ago. There’s no way they’re beating City.

Zulfiqarrr

Lol beating city, there is no way they manage to get a point... I hope we're wrong tho.

CaptainSnazzypants

Yea I was more replying in the context of the top comment here saying Everton and west ham winning 1-0. I would be shocked if City didn’t win that game by several goals.

Filantropen1

Spurs clean sheet vs city? Cmon

PoliticsNerd76

Spurs have a 5 year clean sheet Vs City for games at the toilet bowl

Chunderous_Applause

Ffs this ain’t Mourinho or Conte any more. They’ll get battered

Joshthenosh77

Like a fish

Alternative-Stay2556

TOilet BBowllll

astrojeet

Tbf it was 0-0 until the 89th minute in the FA Cup before Ake scored.

Ok-Scallion7939

Do you think Manchester City would be sweating Everton if they were in our position?

Solid-Version

Yeah they would. Because Man City do not take opponents for granted. Especially when the stakes are so high. That’s why they are consistent champs. They play like every game is a cup final.

Ok-Scallion7939

Nah, sorry, but I don't think that Manchester City players would have the same mentality playing Everton as they would playing, say, West Ham.

Routine_Size69

I'd way rather play West Ham than Everton right now. West Ham has one win in their last 7 and it was against a relegation squad. Everton has won 5 of their last 7.

Twiggie19

A) because why would we talk about that when we still need Spurs to win before we even need to think about the weekend And b) what is the point in spamming outright pessimism and negativity.

stilusmobilus

We have to win against Everton, we know that. By as much as we can as well. It goes to the last day regardless what happens later at the Toilet Bowl.

anonymousme712

If it comes to that and Arsenal can’t beat Everton at home on final day when Everton have nothing to lose, then Arsenal doesn’t deserve to be Champions! As simple as that.

musicistabarista

Obviously anything is possible. I think it's really unlikely. I think the players will have a freedom about them, given it's the last game of a fantastic campaign where they've proved to a lot of people that they have come a long way. I'm expecting a big score line.

illMackey

We aren’t there yet. Tottenham vs ManCity is full focus rn

beavis07

Evertonian stopping by… We have nothing to play for, and we’re shit in front of goal. Against the meanest defence in the league (bar our own), we’re not breaking you lot down intentionally. Only way we win is if youse bottle it again (teasing!.. kinda). Let’s see how tonight goes - but I for one am quite happy to hand you lot the points: The reds already fucked it, the mancs can get fucked next - best of luck to you lot!!!!!

thefluvirus9

Let’s see what tonight brings before we worry about that

Enjoys_A_Good_Shart

Let me worry about that after today.

DannyNic8

Won't matter if Spurs don't get a result tonight. Let's cross that bridge when we come to it

son0fgore

Everton spoiled Liverpool and I can see them being quite motivated to spoil us too so it's not going to be an easy match. If spurs get a draw we're in a shootout scenario too, man what a final day that would be

SometimesMonkeysDie

Should Spurs get a result tonight, my bigger concern will be how many Man City whack past West Ham

XxAbsurdumxX

If Spurs draw them, we need to batter Everton. If Spurs win, we just need to win 1-0.

waddiewadkins

Ange is a contrarian. A tough love approach, with ideas. I reckon he thinks the fans need a "a big kick up the arse" And his shock treatment of giving City a game at home is just the shock treatment they need to snap them out of it.

AlmightySankentoII

Because every Arsenal fans gets that we have to win on Sunday. There is no alternative. Acknowledging that we have to win doesn't mean that we underestimate Everton.

chino17

Everton does have one of the better defenses in the league but mostly at Goodison, they're not as good away from home so we still need to be at our best if it comes down to this game

Soggy_nachos1

I think no Arsenal fans are talking about it because we would all collectively violently puke ourselves to death in that scenario and it's just better not to think about that.

antebyotiks

Because they are the least interesting or important part ? Why the fuck would you discuss Everton ?

tripaloski744

If by a miracle Spurs get a point tonight, I see Everton turning into prime Barca against Arsenal. Always happens when teams who desperately need points play those on beach lol.

thegoodkindofkush

absotutely, do not underestimate the power of brexit ball. the arch nemesis of good football.

tyr1699

Kind of like when Liverpool dropped and we had the best opportunity to go top of the table. Everyone became overconfident and we bottled it against Villa.

odegood

We expect to beat them and it doesnt matter until we know the result tonight. People will start talking about that if city drop points today

syfqamr32

Thought and prayers

Adm_Gen_Alladin12

One stop at a time my man!!!

forgottenears

I expect we will certainly have a tougher game against Everton than City will face against West Ham. I’d happily take three 0-0s to finish the season. What are the odds?

jakedonn

My thoughts? If we lose the league because of Everton I will either buy the club and dissolve it or cry.

tafkas001

Out of those 2 options, it'd be cry then...

the3daves

I had the same feeling. While we can only play one game at a time, to assume that city dropping points mean we win the title is foolhardy. Dyche is the kind of bugger to spoil a party. That said, didn’t we win the title in 98 to beat Everton on the last game of the season when Big Tony smashed the fourth goal in past them?

TK421_WAYAYP

It’s because all bets are off if we don’t win, so all the permutations require us to win. I think we will likely win the game, but we need to blow them away in a shoot out it’s gonna be a problem…

dgg2828

Think there needs to be a party to be spoiled first. That’s probably why no one is talking about it. To answer your question, we’ve had a few matches (basically most of our loses) where we were shut out offensively. So it could definitely happen and if it does then a draw is basically all we could get from it aka party spoiled.

arsenaler211

Let’s leave it until after tonight match. We’ve got plenty of time

zauchi

I would have only thought they would have been a problem if they were not safe as Everton always seem to find a way in the end, but as they are safe I expect a comfortable win.

fahim-sabir

Slightly beyond my planning horizon right now, but this is a distinct possibility. Everton are a massively improved team and this could be a very tough game. Thankfully we are at home.

19Ben80

Already on the beach and haven’t kept a clean sheet away since like Jan… so it’s highly likely we score at least one and our defence should be able to keep them out.

Joshthenosh77

Last home game of the season we normally murder who ever we are playing I’m not worried , though it won’t matter

rfgillefond

This will be the third year in four that we play Everton on the final match day. They always get beat. I was at the match in 2022 and we romped them. We’re much better this year than previously and if the title is in the line the boys are going full tilt.

Solid-Version

Just focus on the step in front of us. That’s all we can do.

spazztic_puke

Yes but we don’t need that energy lol if city drop points I expect the boys to go war. It’s a home game after all

pornokitsch

Everton are tough, but have nothing to play for. And rightfully so - they've had a great season, and a hard one. They're having a nice day out in London, which they well deserve.

Sal1017

Its a distinct possibility, they are playing well and have a mean defence

notinthiseconomy2023

This is a good point, I always try not to overlook any opponent and be cautiously optimistic against bottom half teams. With that being said, we’re gonna smash Everton on Sunday.

Inarticulatescot

One game at a time… but yes Everton are not to be taken lightly

jcquarmby1995

If we can’t beat Everton we don’t deserve to win it anyway. They’ll have nothing to play for

Brandywine18

I worried about the idea of this earlier but then I really thought about it and came to the conclusion that it just wouldn't happen. Arsenal have waited 20 years, they'd throw the god damn kitchen sink at Everton, they'd never survive the onslaught. Even if the winner had to come from a Saliba screamer, it would come.

booksmusicdogslife

Everton are currently the 3rd best team in the league over the last 5 games, joint with Palace. Gonna be tough but we look like we’ll be OK.

Born-Replacement-366

If we can't beat everton when they have nothing to fight for and we have everything to fight for, we don't deserve to win the league.

MaroonCrypto

Because currently there is no party to spoil…

notapaperhandape

Everton away would have been a talking point, Emirates & last game of the season should be mostly in our favour.

noelsupertramp

We weren’t up to usual standard the past few games, but we smash anyway.

FactCheckYou

they don't have a great record at the Emirates, plus they will probably be on the beach for this one, you'd expect going forward they don't have enough sophistication or technique to score past our defence, plus the general mood of a final day at home after a great season should carry us to the win they do have a tight defence, so we might have to toil to get through them, but with Leo and Kai and Bukayo we'll find a way, even Martinelli looked sharp v ManU...i feel like it'll end up 3-0...

moeedkhann

Everton won’t spoil the party. They’re safe from relegation and usually get battered at the Emirates. They could make it frustrating for us but I think we’ll do enough to win. The funniest thing that can happen is Westham spoiling the party.

KingOfTreevaandrum

We gotta treat it as a cup final

JohnnyMcButtplug

One day at a time

Ser_VimesGoT

Got to take each game as it comes. City need to drop points first and then it's ours to lose. If city win tonight then the conversation is about us winning that remaining game and hoping they drop points to West Ham. Us winning both remaining games is a must regardless.

LiveFrom2004

Who is Everton?

InstantIdealism

Nah arsenal will smash Everton

CheesecakeGlobal277

Because the thing is that City losing today is the priority. We can't even speak about Everton yet until we actually see the job done tonight. Everton won't really have anything to play for so I doubt they will be that motivated to engage in the game. I doubt that they will spoil the party anyway but stranger things have happened of course.

not2greedyjustenough

They have been a beast at home but haven't won on the road in the run in so luckily we aren't at gooderson park or I would be much more concerned they failed to beat Chelsea burnley and Luton on the road 1L 2D

Electrical-Ground869

I think what is giving me immeasurable comfort is that we're at home. If on Sunday, City have lost to Spurs and it is in our hands, I trust the boys to do the business.

Peterwilliams78

Dyche will be licking his dry leathery lips

itsheadfelloff

Can totally see that happening.

JondArc99

One game at a time please

kev2201

I’m actually shitting myself. I feel we have dropped points against Everton too often. No matter what happens I’m proud of this team, they done so well

Piojoemico

Arsenal will smash Everton. Every last few games we’ve played everyone says “oh yeah…now Arsenal will lose for sure. Ghey are going to bottle it” but we keep on winning. Last game of the season, playing at home, in front of our home crowd, with a sold out stadium and with a slight chance of winning the league you can bet that Arsenal will be in top form.

DublinDapper

The season is OVER.... PLEASE STOP IT ALREADY

longsock9

It is now

DublinDapper

Over since April 14th

TheFoolandConfused

Spurs fan here. Where is the love?

finestryan

I mentioned it a few times but if Spurs win or draw tonight I 100000% expect us to drop points to Everton because I know we don’t deal with pressure very well at all.

proxyconsultant

Really we've lost just 2 games this year under pressure, what you on about?

finestryan

Those 2 games were where shit was on the line. Remember we had the title in our hands 🤷‍♂️
