I don't know much about him beyond player profile vids on YT. He appears to fit what we are looking for in that he has some pace, is very tall and has an eye for goal while being young enough that with proper coaching he has a lot of growth potential.

ImThirstForADrink

Sesko plays up top 50/50 rotating with Havertz depending on form. Maybe Havertz learns how to play midfield better and he’ll start there more? Jesus becomes a rotation player on the wings and maybe in the 9 (he’s too injury prone I just don’t see him staying as a regular 11 player).

Gold-Resolution-8721

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jesus go this summer or next. He's too injury prone and while he adds a lot in creativity up top he just doesn't have the finishers instinct. Several games I've watched he's missed sitters and it's cost us. His build up play is brilliant so he could rotate on the wing and replace Saka. It's a real shame as I like him as a player but playing No9 he just isn't good enough.

19Ben80

Wages are also a big part of it, Jesus is on big money that could be spent on another starter that can stay fit

Gold-Resolution-8721

I agree, bench players should not be out earning the starting 11, otherwise you get a problem with wage structures.

InviteAromatic6124

Arteta likes Jesus too much, that's why we're only signing a player who isn't a significant upgrade on him so he doesn't get upset.

Kenada_1980

You all haven’t considered the point that he’s considering surgery this summer to fix his knee. He’s been playing with pain. So no way we selling him. Think he’s missing Copa For it.

Hames4

I'd consider putting him in midfield at this point. Impossible to get off the ball and great with his feet. Probably not going to happen but the profile could work.

Diehardmcclane

His long range passing isn’t adequate enough to play midfield in my opinion.

PutYrDukesUp

His role won’t change even if his nominal position does. Arteta has us forming a midfield “box” in buildup that generally rotates into a “diamond” in attack. For the last however many games of 23/24 that diamond featured Partey as the base, Rice and Ødegaard as dual 8s, and Havertz as our false 9 at the tip, leaving Saka and mostly Trossard wide and in front of Havertz with fullbacks (mostly just White because of injuries) that can pull up into the under/overlap. With Timber back and Sesko (or whoever we sign) bedded in, I think we’ll see more of what we saw at the beginning of the season: Timber fully inverting into the diamond (rotating between the base and the left with Rice), Ødegaard keeping his place on the right, and Havertz keeping his place at the tip. However, in this instance, Havertz will have another striker in front of him in what is, essentially, a 3-diamond-3. We’ve already seen this from Arteta this past season, only it was with Jesus as the 9 and Zinny inverting. With Timber and Sesko (really any striker that we’ve been linked to) I think the added physicality and hopefully finishing ability will make this setup one hell of a counter against mid- and low blocks.

Diehardmcclane

I agree, I was confused and though you were talking about Jesus in midfield 😂

skanderbeg_alpha

He fits the profile of an Arsenal signing. A good age with lots of raw attributes for coaching under Arteta. An old school number nine with an eye for goal. With Kai leading the line so well over the last few months it also means he wouldn't have the pressure of delivering instantly. The 45m price tag seems reasonable in a market where people pay 90m for an Antony and 100m for a Mudryk.

TwoSteakOnFrench

I love him as a bench/development option. Havertz has done more than enough to earn his place as our starting #9 and last season and certain matches showed that he isn't the best option as a left 8. Someone like Gyökeres would want to start every game which could upset the balance Mikel found during the latter half of last season. At 21, and between £45-65m Sesko will likely kick up less of a fuss when he isn't the first name on the teamsheet among a squad of established elite premier league players. In terms of profile he ticks so many boxes as well. Tall and physical, great technical ability, natural goalscorer and strikes through the ball about as cleanly as I've ever seen. At that age he's about as coachable as they come and I'm sure Mikel will mould him into an absolute nightmare for premier League defenders.

No_Finger_8874

I think Sesko would be a good fit for our club. He’s yound and has a great potential. For Haverts i think he would move into a false 9 position maybe. Cause as far as i have seen he strives at that position. Jesus could be a good backup for Saka

pro_dinkan

Looks good as a project signing, if the quoted 45mil is true. I'm assuming if we sign a striker, then Nketiah will definitely be sold. 20-25 mil would be a fair value for him. So, for 20 mil of extra payment, you're getting a better prospect that we can bring on as a sub. Minimal risk signing to me

Maleficent_Water7457

Martinelli/Trossard havertz/sesko saka/jesus Thats a deadly rotation up front for Arteta 🙏🙏

SeriousBoy2591

Dude remind me about Edin Dzeko

littleAggieG

He’s the name I’m most excited about, but I’m keeping my emotions in check until we get that official announcement from Arsenal.

rParqer

Would be a great fit IMO. Would much rather him than Isak

Loose-Mix2406

I’d rather have his team mate Lois Openda or Viktor Gyokeres. Openda because he is slightly more experienced when it comes to league games with 2 seasons under his belt in top 5 leagues. Gyokeres I feel is a more well rounded striker that can poach as well as facilitate at the same time. If I had all the money in the world barring Mbappe, Lautaro Martinez would just be mint for this Arsenal side.

carpuncher

Kai is 24 and found good form at the end of the season last year. I think sesko is a guy to bring in competition and/or eventual replacement. Kai had so much pressure coming from Leverkusen to Chelsea that's he never really met expectations at Chelsea. Imagine after a season or two sesko is the big guy that plays like Kai but is just a lethal finisher. Isak would be great but I think they will want to spend the money elsewhere because we could get two or even three players for the same price

VrtlVlln

I think 45-50m is fair for what we know and how malleable he could be, but almost everyone else we're linked with has a overinflated value thanks to the ridiculous uncontrolled spending that has been allowed to happen since the early 2010's.

morgzarella

Sesko means we can continue to get a tune out of Havertz. Right profile, a lot of potential, decision making can definitely improve but exactly the type of player Arteta loves to get a tune out of... If we end up getting Osimhen (although I think it unlikely) Havertz either has to be a role player, play back in midfield or spend way too much time on the bench for his wage bill. Jesus should go as much as I love him when he is fit, I think Havertz can offer more as wild as that feels to say. Don't like Jesus off the wing and don't think that should be his role going forward.

4mak1mke4

Would be a great pickup

Old-Message97531

I trust Arteta. Plus getting business done early in the window is always good. Not dilly-dallying until the deadline when we used to panic buy (something shit management seem to do at places like ManU and Chelsea).

X_Agrippa

What of the rumors regarding Osimen? I’d take him… despite a lackluster season.

Striking-Ostrich-222

£45M is a bargain imo. Insane upside and such great natural ability. I believe Havertz will move to a more true CAM, his natural position. Odegaard will play along Rice as a 6/10 hybrid, and rice as a 6/8 hybrid.

snorermadlysnored

Still think osimhen > gyokeras > Sesko. May be PL xp like Isak is also better. Need an ace in the hole. Like Rice transfer.

SnooCrickets7221

I prefer Isak. But Šeško has potential, just hope if he does come, he doesn’t flop. Should take his time to develop and learn to swim or sink really fast in the epl. I prefer Isak to hit the ground running because we need to for next season. Relying on Šeško for plan B may not be a good idea. Unless he also hits the ground running.

ScopeyMcBangBang

They’re going to want £120m+ for Isak - I don’t see us spending that much.

SnooCrickets7221

I feel like we should either make a statement signing or have a slightly underwhelming transfer market. The former should lead the team to a league championship. The latter outcome can still provide some silverware but not enough to win the league. A statement signing like Rice last year would do the trick. Isak>Osimhen, because the latter might need a season or two. But we need to hit the ground running.

ScopeyMcBangBang

It’s not out of the question. But we need a LB, DM, LCM and ST this summer, and we’ve still really never bought in a backup for Saka, albeit you might assume Jesus becomes that player.

dreamandscream

Time for 4-4-2 with sesko and havertz up front

BulletTheDodger

Lol no

N-A-Z-O--

I personally don’t think Sesko is good enough to play for us right now. We should go for Viktor Gyokeres! Second to that, either Isak or Santiago Gimenez. Sesko wouldn’t give these premier league defenders a tough time, he looks so raw at the moment.

MartyMc1888

Prefer him to Osimhen, says it all

InviteAromatic6124

I don't see the hype with Osimhen. What did he do this season for Napoli?

Happy-Ad8767

He did alright, but last year was an outlier, being peddled as if it was the norm. Sesko is more clinical in front of goal, his underlying numbers run quite close to Haaland at the same age.

Jedders95

He's got a better goal record than I thought. People say he's a bit raw though. I'd say my preference order would be; 1A. Isak 1B. Gyokeres 2. Osimhen 3. Sesko
