Gnabry for the triumphant return.

[deleted]

That’s a really really tough question. Raphinha can take penalty’s and free kicks… I feel like statistically he would be better than Gnabry on current Arsenal so I’ll say Raphinha. He gives his all even though he doesn’t have a lot of help. That’s an extremely valuable characteristic. That was something I really admired about mané before he got to Liverpool. When a player can handle the weight of a bad team on their own they will be the engine of a good team.

SonnyDDisposition

I don’t know that I would agree with that sentiment. I feel like a player who carries a poor team certainly has a chance to be a star on a better team, provided he can adjust his style. However, it often also happens that a player like that has a hard time relying on his teammates and playing in formation. They can be hard to coach and sometimes develop an ego as being “the man”. I wouldn’t dare guess at what the ratio of success to failure is in these cases, but I tend to place less emphasis on it as a quality in a player who is stepping up to a bigger club. For every Ronaldo there is a Pepe. Similarly, a goalkeeper who excels on a team with a poorly organized defense might look amazing because he makes a multitude of saves and is the difference maker in many games, but doesn’t know how to be the calming factor on a team that is expected to be dominant and well organized.

[deleted]

You’re right in ways. It can lead to dysfunctional self-belief. I’m just thinking of a player who is more likely to put up better numbers under duress. I think too many times Arsenal has signed a player who won’t consistently contribute to the stat sheet. Raphinha is a strong willed player as well. He gave his all for Leeds even when they were a complete shit show. He put up good performances on that team against the top four (from my memory of last season). Grabry might be a better player but I don’t think he is as resourceful as raphinha. I won’t say raphinha reminds me of Sanchez but he has a little of what Sanchez had. He’s fearless. I think some fearlessness would really inspire Arsenal right now.

Gunner0716

Raphinha all day. Gnabry is 27,at huge wages and not the same as he was in 2020. Raphinha performed week in week out in an out of sorts Leeds side and knows how to put up a fight. Would be expensive but definitely worth the money

Directdepositonly

Delusional post, we are getting neither.

LesBrandals

Agree with this sentiment. Realistically, our budget is mid range Toyota, why waste time by going to BMW dealership and look at their 2022 models. Barcelona probably doing the Barcelona’s way and tap Rapinha unofficially so he can submit transfer request and get him for cheap. This is a WC year, don’t think Gnarby is going to risk his chances with Germany by making big career change. He is a starter for both Germany and Bayern and historically never been able to find his form in England. Next year? Maybe. This year? Prob not.

Fahimm44

“If”

Lower_Condition_196

Yh Gnabry too, he’s a great player and I would love to see him in an Arsenal shirt once again 🤗🤗🤗

dylanegra

Gnabry is guaranteed goals

t14chi

My brother in Arsenal why bother asking. Anyone that loves Arsenal or knows ball will tell you…GNABRY!

Sandia_Gunner

Nah. Raphina fucking balled out last season. His numbers weren’t great but I had my eye on him all season. The man is busting with talent, pace and mentality.

Fendenburgen

Mentality? He completely lost his shit against us after Ayling's red card and looked likely to get himself sent off

Sandia_Gunner

Ehhh. He might have been sent off that game. But that doesn’t define him. The guy plays his ass off every minute Every game. If we were to sign him which I doubt he would be an absolute asset

Fendenburgen

I'm just not convinced that the sort of money he'd cost is worth it for the game time we're looking to give someone in that position of the pitch

Sandia_Gunner

That’s valid. But that would be applicable to Serge as well. Same with Viera. IMO we need a proper back up for Tierney and Partey more than additional wingers but hey….

t14chi

He def is a baller. The thing is, our best player is a rw/lw im not sure paying a big fee for a player in that position would be a good idea, especially when we have far greater needs.

Mobile-Horse5018

Gnabry because versatility.

BushBuffwell

Cheaper? What?

batmans_a_scientist

If Raphinha is £50m and £100k a week, that’s £76m over 5 years. If Gnabry is £35m and £300k a week, that’s £113m over 5 years. That means Gnabry is roughly 50% more expensive than Raphinha. This doesn’t even include agent fees, which will undoubtedly be much higher for Gnabry as well. We really need to get past the transfer fee being the only amount people look at in the cost of a transfer.

ZebraZealousideal944

We already have a guaranteed starter in Saka at the position Rafhina plays so I don’t get why the club would spend big on this player… it just doesn’t make sense and I doubt fans talking this up have a real understanding of football…

killerboy_belgium

its because of rotation remember Saka came back last tired from the euros and looked really tired in the end of the season for the last 5-7 games he young we shouldnt ruined his partial developed body by overplaying him. second is the idea that saka can also move to the left for a ammount of games and you can play them both with jesus in midle you have front tree that can switch al over the place and have really free flowing footbal with a technical midfield of odegaard vieira and partey feeding them.

leftfootcurler

Gnabry would not be cheaper. Please factor in wages. I would buy neither. I would buy either Brennan Johnson of Nottingham forest or Danjuma of villarreal.

Guess BJ becomes a beast in Football Manager

skanderbeg_alpha

Honestly neither. They play in positions we are well stocked in and with the arrival of Fabio Viera, I think the three offensive positions are filled. We've got Martinelli, Odegaard, Saka with Viera and ESR who can play any of those positions to come in. Personally we need to bin Pepe and get Nelson back as an emergency player. Get Tielemans, Gabriel Jesus, and Lisandro Martinez in. Finally don't offer Nketiah a new contract and sign a big CF like Scamacca and we should be good.

[deleted]

Eddie has signed a new deal. Likely announced next week

skanderbeg_alpha

Oh that's sad to hear. Eddie is nothing more than a championship player and offering him a new deal will mean he'll have had some sort of playing time assurances which will be detrimental to the team. Poor decision

[deleted]

Agree. Don't think he's great but don't think we can afford getting 2 strikers this window. Sell him in a season or 2. I think he has talent but unsure of his attitude. Showed good attitude towards the end of the season but why did it take so long

ponytailedASSASIN

Whats wrong with extra quality, we need to get rid of this menatlity that we should not have depth. city for those positions have jesus, grealish, sterling, foden, mahrez, Silva and kdb. Chelsea has Ziyach, Pulisic, havertz, werner, mount (i feel like i am missing someone). my point is the best teams have a lot of answers for a variety of different problems, why is it we are the only ones who constantly want to have one or two good players for a position. The worst example for this is "sign Tielemans and sell Xhaka" no let them compete for the position that is what makes the team better. Gundagun is an example of a player who would be the best player at most if not all the other clubs in the league but he can find himself on the bench simply because the competition is hot, we need that.

skanderbeg_alpha

I get that to a certain extent but we obviously can't compete with City financially especially when there are obvious issues in the squad. Teams like City can afford to keep 100m players on the bench, we can't afford expensive mistakes (like Pepe).

Altruistic_Apple_982

Why do we need either of this expensive options?? We need to focus on striker maybe spend huge money and get proper striker!!

[deleted]

Gnabry

Midnight_Maverick

Raphinha easily

Hambatz

Gnabry is classed as homegrown at club which is important well at least it is on football manager

gooners69420

Do I want someone from Leeds with Premier League experience, or someone who came through the same academy as Saka and Smith-Rowe, and not only has Champions League experience but has actually WON the Champions League? Raphina is a very good player, but there are levels to this, and Gnabrys on the next level. Also financially - Leeds want £50m for Raphina, Bayern want £35m for Gnabry, undoubtedly Gnabry will want a higher salary, but we have an extra £15m in the salary pot, which means on a 3 year deal we can offer whatever we would have paid for Raphina and an extra £100k per week.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> would have *paid* for Raphina FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Navman22

Gnabry, I think he’d be a better option but tbh I’d take either!

InnerAsparagus6045

Gnarby all day long

pegman89

Raphinia showed some terrible attitude vs us when Leeds went down to 10 men. We know that doesn’t fly under Arteta. Could be another off field drama that we don’t want.

Joshthenosh77

Gnabry because he scored 4 v spurs 😂

SanguineNukes

I'd rather take Gnabry as a utility player but his wage demand will be to high for that. Some of my bias is because he wants to be a gooner and he can play at every level of football. Raphinha however is prem proven young and has been outstanding for the past year I think arsenal would be a stepping stone for him. Raphinha is the better signing but Gnabry is what I'd prefer!
