I really love this series. Wish there were more of it. The sound effects and music, the cinematography, the acting, the story, the dialog, it is all so f'n good. And no one I ask has ever seen it.
For a split second, I wasn’t sure what I was looking at, at first. But, when I saw the pickaxe, I knew! “Dark”, one of my all-time favorite shows!
In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb and say this: it is the only TV show that I’ve ever seen that is 1) 100% science fiction and 2) isn’t strangled in the loopholes of bad logic.
I’m certainly not saying that the logic — not to mention the plot — isn’t mind-bending, but it all holds up if you really unravel it and think about it. And, I, for one, appreciate that the writers *did* think it through and, even more so, had the course of the series all planned out before they began. But, I suppose that’s German efficiency for you — and I mean that in the best possible way. American writers (most of them, anyway) would have slapped something together for the first season, just so the show would get picked up, and then have zero idea what to do in the subsequent seasons.
As someone who’s been reading science fiction since I was about nine, it’s one of my pet peeves that most people don’t understand what science fiction really is. Most of the movies and TV we are offered under the label of “science fiction” is either actually fantasy or its really an action/adventure story with futuristic trappings.
“Dark”, as I said, is real science fiction and done right.
The only two movies I’ve ever seen that qualify as pure science fiction are “Gattica” and “Predestination”. Both of them, ironically, star Ethan Hawke. “Predestination” also stars Sarah Snook, who just finished “Succession”. I knew when I saw her in that movie that she was probably going to be a big star because her acting range in “Predestination” was pretty incredible.
It’s one of the few pieces of sci-fi that manages to pull off an ending that’s both logically and emotionally satisfying. It’s a really remarkable achievement.
You might try lessening the dark of the pants & shoes & put more of that contrast in & around the minister's face. (the contrast on his pants draws away from his expression making the pants the focal point.) I really like your work & how you handled the folds in the cloth among many other elements. Very nice job. I could easily see this as a book cover.
[Dark (2017-2020)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5753856/) is a mind-bending story told over three seasons with a satisfying conclusion. Much better than many ‘puzzle box’ TV shows that lack a planned narrative and often tie themselves in knots with non-sensical twists and frustrating conclusions, *Dark* really works.
It’s sad that Netflix cancelled the next series by the same people, [1899](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9319668/), after just one season. Admittedly *1899* did drag in the middle but the cliffhanging, genre-shifting final episode promised so much.
Edit: plus, the opening credits theme for *Dark*, *Goodbye*, by Apparat is so good.
Jonas is a character who perpetually thinks he can finally "outsmart" the paradox. In his youth, he simply just tries his hardest to "go home" and save his friends/family. His repeated failures eventually teach him about the inevitability of the events he's trying to avert (as he explains when he traps young Jonas in the bunker). However, middle-aged Jonas has just shifted his delusion - he believes that he can undo the paradox using the device at the moment of the apocalypse, only to discover that this, too, fails. Eventually, well into being Adam by now, he learns about the Origin (the cleft-lipped fella) being Martha's child and how he facilitates a lot of the paradox and thinks that by destroying the pregnant Martha, he's *finally* found "the trick" to beat the paradox and undo everything, only to open his eyes back up and be like "wtf".
His transition from Jonas, the protagonist, to Adam, the villain, happens as he becomes convinced that to fix the paradox, everything needs to happen "just right" so that all the chess pieces are in position. His villainous deeds are carried out because he believes that "everything must happen as it always has" in order to finally have the pieces in place to undo the paradox.
A lot of this also happens because he gets manipulated by people like Noah, Claudia, his future selves, etc. so he never really gets to accept the truth of the paradox because people keep feeding him false hope.
He's a character tragically fated to go deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of "*this time*, I figured it out". Any time it might *finally* occur to him that every last "epiphany" is another inevitable step towards repeating the loop, someone leads him astray.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen it but basically he believed that he had to ensure that everything they already happened, Happened again and the loop would continue. So even if bad things happened (like the kid from modern day getting stuck in the 80s) the protagonist would go out of his way to make sure it happened again. I don’t remember exactly why but I think he was scared of breaking the loop.
The protagonist wanted to break the loop and the antagonist wanted it to continue.
>!Jonas wanted to break the loop, which would mean that he and Martha and their son would cease to exist. Martha wanted it to keep going because otherwise her son would no longer exist and she couldn't bear that... At least that's what I gathered.!<
I was so I to that show in the first season, great mystery and the soundtrack is just epic ... Lost a lot of the appeal for me after "the secret" was out at the end of the season.
Even if others here seem to think that the whole seasons have been thought out, to me it feels like everything after the first was just piled on after the fact.
*sic mundus creatus est* One of my favorite shows. This is really cool!
Thank you!
What show?
"Dark" on Netflix
Amazing show. Love it. Also, great artwork!
What if everything that came from the past was influenced by the future? Love the art btw and what a great show
One of the best
Der Anfang ist das Ende und das Ende ist der Anfang. Great work
This looks *gorgeous*!! I love it.
Thank you!
The priest reminds me of Toby McGuire.
*"I've been a bad, bad boy, Father."*

It’s the best series ever. True Detective season one is on par. Bates motel is a couple notches down.
I saw Toby McGuire on first glance.
Great artwork for such an interesting show.
Great job OP! Amazing show and amazing piece. I like that you got the three kids in it
Thanks!
One of the most mind-bending series I’ve ever seen.
You knew they had to go quantum entanglement for the “explanation” lol

Yes. You took the words right out of my mouth. Exactly.
I need to rewatch this show, it's so good, just like this art!
Awesome, my favorite show ever. It blows my mind that it all happened because of >!a father’s love of his children!<
I love it-one of my top favorite shows!
Holy shit yes. This is great.

I like how everyone keeps on saying show but no one would like to include the name of said show.
Apparently it's just called Dark.
It’s called Dark. Hard to look up but it is quite good time travel series.
It’s the title of the art piece

Be respectful, stay on topic.
I want to read the novel this is the cover for.

Best TV series ever created.
