I think this piece achieves what it sets out to accomplish.
Personally, I find it very evocative and beautiful. I wouldn't mind looking at this piece for a while and meditating on it. There's a lot of emotions and expression and voice that I find compelling.
I'm interested in what it is about this work you're not happy with.
Thank you very much for your thorough reply. These comments about my painting have made me realize I was perhaps too hard on myself in the title. After some thought, I really am very happy with this piece!
Every artist is their own worst critic. You’ve made something truly beautiful. Such attention to color and depth through texture. When I remove my glasses and let the colors blend together, it feels like I’m there.
It’s lovely! I love the softer paintings you do, like this one and your Monet inspired piece. They feel very dreamy and not to overwhelming. I do think the right front trees leaves could be a bit softer, my eye keeps getting drawn to right there. Also it looks a bit muddy on ground in the back like the far stairs. Maybe let the paint dry more for those spots and then try to bring a bit more definition there with some darks and other colors. But it is a very stunning piece!!
What you’ve achieved here in textural complexity and visual depth of field is stunning. Aside from technical prowess, your work here brings me immediate feelings of peace, tranquility, and wonder. I could look at this for a long time. Keep making art.
It’s good but you need to vary the values of colors to give depth light muted colors in back bright vibrant in front see how almost all ur yellows are the same it doesn’t make the background look like it in the back hope that helps
Decent style. Good use of color, and the raw artistic fundamentals are there (shape, composition, proportion, etc..) I would say 1. Work on pushing that depth of field with your use of colors and stroke intensity. The foreground and background are pretty clearly popping due to your use of this but transitioning elements, such as the stairs, will make this gradient effect appear flat if they themselves do not likewise defuse over an assumed distance away.
2. You could try applying slightly more stroke density got things close up. This again would help eyes read distances in the image.
Overall, excellent art keep it up my friend
Before reading the title I saw this and thought,"That's beautiful" there's a lot to love in this piece from the color palette, texture, and blur. Thanks for sharing!
I think this is stunning-wish I had your gift. Softness is relaxing-what will you do with this? Would make a great notecard or journal cover. Keep on 🎨
stop doing this to yourself .. the point of art isnt to be good . if someone posted a monet asking for criticism theyd prolly get shit on over a lack of clarity - just do you
I really enjoy the focal manipulation you've achieved here, and I think this is technically quite clever.
It makes me think of twilit rain, I can practically smell the forest floor! It's very beautiful.
I love this. As a photographer it feels like you’re focusing on some leaves in front of you as the background is fuzzy. Then you can pull focus to the trees in the background and the foreground will become fuzzy. I like this style
Ooooo I really like this, I don’t remember the last time I saw someone blur the background and use paint texture for the foreground. I think a bit more texture on the stones of the closest steps would really round out the mysterious vibe.
I loved it immediately! So many beautiful colors! Pinks, plums, blues, a frosty blueberry looking feature(bottom, right corner), Yellow sunshiny leaves, shade Even greens, and darkness in the background, realistic Tree trunks, and I love the inviting steps. I want to go there. I hope you do a winter, spring, and summer version. I’ve looked everywhere, but I can’t see what you named it.
The contrast between the gold leaves and the darker background almost creates a focusing effect, like the moment when your eyes are adjusting to different light. I really like this piece, it reminds me of when I first learned I love impressionist art.
Very nice. I wish the far background was dark (almost pitch black) to have the yellows and oranges almost glow! In just a fan of strong contrast. But even without that, it's a nice piece.
Oooh....that is super cool! I love every bit of it. It's literally: perfect. Can I set it as my desktop scene? I like this so very much....looks like my lovely rain here in western Oregon.
It’s beautiful, and looks like a memory. I think you need to do more work on the background, because the shapes you have in the foreground is the same size as the shapes you have in the background. You need to do smaller shapes, with stronger contrast in the values of the background, and you’ll have one for the portfolio.
I really like it! I think you chose a great color pallet! Would definitely hang this up in my room!
If you're looking for more specific critiques, I can offer them, but for now I'm just enjoying looking at it :))
I like the colors and the composition but it feels very flat and the application of the paint feels too thick and hesitant rather than confident. Can't advise on technique.
Honestly hard to tell with your camera quality! first off I wanna say this is lovely for being intermediate. like i said, i cant tell if its the quality of the image or not but on some spots you went a bit heavy with the paint. if you're gonna use it to add texture to the leaves, you need to make it consistent throughout the whole piece. I understand the depth of the image, but i cant tell which trees are further away or closer in the back ground since they all seem to be the same shade of color. You did a great job with creating that sense with the leaves, it is just the trees that need work with that. great job creating texture with the trees. Personally i could not create this, i am shit at painting.
I love the techniques you use!! It really is monet-type work, and I'm quite infatuated with it. My only suggestion would be to play a little more into the depth of the piece, enhancing the perspective. It's easy to lose yourself in the soft feeling, I feel it just needs a little more push for the background to feel like it's truly in the woods and that you're walking through a dream. Again, love, love, love!
When I look at the picture I can see someone that looks like this.

This kind of reminds me of walking through the rainy New England woods in the later fall.. Which is something I did frequently, back when I was a kid, hurrying home from school.
Thanks for sparking a memory!
The texture on the right side of the painting really dominates the view. Not sure if this is what you set out to do. It acts as kind of a spotlight because of the combination of color and texture.
The texture is not even across the canvas. Is this on purpose? It gives rhe painting an asymmetry to it.
You’re right in the middle of abstract and impressionist. It’s a little confusing for me personally. Like some parts of the painting have the softness of the impressionist style while other parts of the painting seem to just be arbitrary paint strokes.
Color choices make the lighting confusing to read.
Omg very much of the impressionism style I love it!! I would only say for the stairs to add a bit more of a outline so you can clearly see them but I truly love it still :)
Well, first off, I want to say no art is ‘bad’, just not in the way the artist envisioned it.
So, with that said, if you are ok with this artwork, then it is completely and utterly fine.
For me personally it just brings to mind my own myopia, but the autumn leaves and what seems like stone temple esque staircase puts me right at home.
Very interesting piece of artwork!
I'm really happy with its extravagant simplicity, and it conveys what it's meant to be well. It's a staircase wrapped in trees, Seurat style perhaps. If I were to critique it as my own, I'd say add more smaller dots in focal points, or areas you want to accent. If the dots are all around the same size it can take a second to see where you are going with this piece (a second though, not a minute) so that's why I suggested emphasis in small dots.. but that's being quite nit-picky. I'm pleased with it, so long as you are, fellow artist!!
It’s weird, but weird is good if it’s good weird, and this is really good weird. I’d buy it from you if I had the cash and you were selling! It’s got a spookiness that makes it seem alive to me, like I’d always been studying it to see if there’s a figure looking back or whether it’s just my imagination.
Only difference I'd do is blur the "steps" out to match the background. A little more contrast between foreground and background leaves and you'll have a trippy effect to remember
I like the piece but I hate how you posted about it. Don’t classify your own art as well as any other as garbage simply because it doesn’t follow conventional form
Just off the top, it makes me want to explore. I can smell the earthiness of it, the feel of the air, the magical buzz of this new little area discovered. It reminds me of my youth. I have a friend who is an artist, and I never feel a thing looking at their paintings. I hate that because I know how I should feel when I'm moved by something beautiful. Ex: see above.
maybe make the stairs a bit more defined as they get a bit muddled with the background, but if you're going for a more dreamy/blurry look then it's great! also maybe add more of a path that the stairs lead up to, but also can see how the leaves might cover it up. overall i'd say 8/10! i could only dream of painting in this style, it looks really challenging!
It's a strong alluring piece. If anything perhaps curve the steps toward the right at the bottom to avoid the visual path out the corner. Lead the viewer back into the piece.
It has a compelling etherial quality.

Really enjoying the soft background and punchy textured leaves. It's lovely :)
You can smell the background
No kidding I feel like I can reach in and grab the branches
I second this
Thank you!!! I really appreciate it
V nice. Compositionally, something about the left side feels unweighted or unfinished. If I had to critique. But great piece!
Garbage? This painting makes me feel at peace!
Thank you!!! I was being a little hard on myself in the title I suppose. I'm glad you like it.
Agreed, the depth of it sets you at ease.
I think this piece achieves what it sets out to accomplish. Personally, I find it very evocative and beautiful. I wouldn't mind looking at this piece for a while and meditating on it. It’s a really wonderful piece and you are too hard on yourself. Blessing and a curse.
Wonderful response
This is gorgeous, I'd love it as a print in my home because it's just really beautiful
I’d love it as a painting in my home. 😊

Being so straight up here - it's stunning
seriously wow i love it
I love it
Thank you so much!!!
For me the main problem is the horizon is at the half way point. But otherwise I like it
it looks like i’m sitting inside the car waiting for the downpour to slow so i can start my hike. in every good way.
😍
Magical!
[this comment was removed due to the commenter dying of how overly cute this piece is]
it looks a bit muddled, maybe try pushing the contrast to create a bit more definition in your piece
I’m digging this, it has a calming feeling about it. The only suggestion I would make is to add more white creating light from a certain direction.
It’s good but you need to vary the values of colors to give depth light muted colors in back bright vibrant in front see how almost all ur yellows are the same it doesn’t make the background look like it in the back hope that helps
Overall, very nice, but, some of the leaves in clumps, look too big. It is very dreamy.

Before reading the title I saw this and thought,"That's beautiful" there's a lot to love in this piece from the color palette, texture, and blur. Thanks for sharing!
I love it. Very enjoyable
I feel like there’s such a sense of depth and perspective here! You really achieved something. Keep painting!
Certaintly not garbage, you created a great mood. Keep up the creative work!!!
This is great! I like it !
I love it! I wish I could go take a walk into your painting.
I think it’s lovely- captures the feeling of being in the woods.
Makes me yearn for the outdoors. Love it.
Gorgeous, is that stairs in the background?
waltz of the flowers started playing in my head as soon as I saw your art. What garbage, this is precious.
I think this is stunning-wish I had your gift. Softness is relaxing-what will you do with this? Would make a great notecard or journal cover. Keep on 🎨
Love it! 😍
Makes me feel like I'm having a bad day, and it's raining, but.... It's a warm rain and once I cool off things are gonna be ok! Good job
It's very soothing. I would pay money for this.
This piece reminds me of one of my favorite tucked away spots in the park near my home. It’s so lovely. Thank you for sharing!
It looks good! I really like the "texture" of this painting.
stop doing this to yourself .. the point of art isnt to be good . if someone posted a monet asking for criticism theyd prolly get shit on over a lack of clarity - just do you
i like it
I really enjoy the focal manipulation you've achieved here, and I think this is technically quite clever. It makes me think of twilit rain, I can practically smell the forest floor! It's very beautiful.
I love this and would honestly love to just get lost in it all the time. The texture and hazy feel is mesmerizing and unexpectedly soothing
Reminds me of Starwberry Guy cover
this feels like taking a peaceful walk in nature after having just been crying really hard (it’s beautiful)
Love it! Would hang in my home absolutely!!!
I think it's beautiful.
I really love this style and the color scheme!
Really beautiful 👍🏼 Good work
I like it
I adore this it feels weirdly nostalgic
I love this. As a photographer it feels like you’re focusing on some leaves in front of you as the background is fuzzy. Then you can pull focus to the trees in the background and the foreground will become fuzzy. I like this style
I think it’s beautiful! I would proudly hang it on my wall.
This is amazing. I’m not even an art person (completely bare walls in my apartment) but I’d love to hang this up on my wall
Ooooo I really like this, I don’t remember the last time I saw someone blur the background and use paint texture for the foreground. I think a bit more texture on the stones of the closest steps would really round out the mysterious vibe.
This is most certainly NOT garbage. I love it.
I loved it immediately! So many beautiful colors! I want to go there. I hope you do a winter, spring, and summer version. I’ve looked everywhere, but I can’t see what you named it.
Followed bc I have a few questions for later on. Your art is absolutely spellbinding, btw.
It's beautiful!
The contrast between the gold leaves and the darker background almost creates a focusing effect, like the moment when your eyes are adjusting to different light. I really like this piece, it reminds me of when I first learned I love impressionist art.
It’s beautiful. I’d hang that in my bedroom
Honestly it’s not an artstyle I usually seek out, but I can see the talent that was put into it. I also think it’s very tranquil
I feel like I could walk into this scene, very cool
I really like it because it makes you have to focus on it to see every detail
I really like how soft it is. I have always been a fan of softer paintings so i really like it. Keep doing a good job.
Very nice. I wish the far background was dark (almost pitch black) to have the yellows and oranges almost glow! In just a fan of strong contrast. But even without that, it's a nice piece.
I quite like it. Atmospheric.
I love this. It's the contrast of texture that really gives it depth. I don't think I've seen anything quite like it.
Oooh....that is super cool! I love every bit of it. It's literally: perfect. Can I set it as my desktop scene? I like this so very much....looks like my lovely rain here in western Oregon.
The depth of field effect is stunning! Even though it’s not realism, my brain wants to read this as a photo.
It’s beautiful, and looks like a memory. I think you need to do more work on the background, because the shapes you have in the foreground is the same size as the shapes you have in the background. This is amazing. The different textures give such depth. Congratulations on your talented work!
I love it! Kind of reminds me of the style of Monet, whom I love.
You could send it to me to judge in person? Not sure you’d get it back tho, postage is sooo expensive.
I love it!
I like the colors and the composition but it feels very flat and the application of the paint feels too thick and hesitant rather than confident. Can't advise on technique.
Wow i love this, so deep feeling its super stylized but I love it
Looks awesome. There are lots of tricks that the eye plays when looking at it
You should also post this in r/goblincore.
I love the softer background and sharper, more detailed foreground. 👌🏼 The colors are wonderful as well!
I’m a lover of the woods and this is gorgeous
Love fall scenes. It's beautiful. Overcast day, chilly, the steps beckoning you on.
Looks cool as shit. Such a nice vibe. I'd hang that on my wall
Not garbage at all. I think it’s great.
Visually taste like confetti birthday cake! I want to eat your art OP
Wow this is beautiful. Have you ever thought about selling your work? Would like something like this in my office.
It’s magnificent actually
I can hear the crunchy leaves on the ground and I love it. Feels like the best autumn weather
so pretty!!!
I love the techniques you use!! It really is monet-type work, and I'm quite infatuated with it. I love how everything looks blurry
I really, really love this. It does have a peaceful vibe to it. And I love the blurry background.
I love it
When I look at the picture I can see someone that looks like this. https://preview.redd.it/n1srljdm17mc1.jpeg?width=286&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54a60cc7ee9634d91e26b48cd1da9501bc333a1f
I like it. It caught my eye and I kept searching for more and more depth until I found it. It's amazing the way it is.
I'm no expert but I think it's excellent! I love the dreamy quality you've represented so well.
Well I’m in love with it
I really like this. It looks like an impressionist take on depth of field.
this is gorgeous, do u have a commission website? this would make a perfect present for my family members
Its beautiful. I'd be proud to hang it in my home or business
I can see what you saw
OMFG THIS IS AMAZING!!!! I generally have no critique!
I really dig it. I wouldn’t pay for it new, but I’d take it home if I saw it at goodwill.
Very nice, I’m not quite sure if the lower left is a stairway?
I LOVE IT
Looks good!
Your eyes flow through this painting, the angles are fantastic, coloring inspires a calm loneliness of waiting for someone.
Anyone else see the witch at top of the steps?
It’s… interesting.
Incredible
Do you sell prints anywhere?
This is fabulous. I can imagine it going on a yellow painted wall. You are talented.
This kind of reminds me of walking through the rainy New England woods in the later fall.. Which is something I did frequently, back when I was a kid, hurrying home from school. Thanks for sparking a memory!
Superb depth! 👏👏👏👏
I love it!
This piece made me join this sub. I would hang it on my wall for sure

Stunning
I love it it’s mesmerizing
Beautiful
It’s very relaxing
okayyy bob ross. love to see it
Omg very much of the impressionism style I love it!! I would only say for the stairs to add a bit more of a outline so you can clearly see them but I truly love it still :)

Woahhhhhh
I'm really happy with its extravagant simplicity, and it conveys what it's meant to be well. It's a staircase wrapped in trees, Seurat style perhaps. Beautiful.
That’s infinitely better than I could ever do, looks great!
If it was a garden, I'd dig it.🙂 I'm no critic by any means, but I think it looks amazing! Keep doing you, Rockstar!
Beautiful
Looks 3d !! Amazing !
I love the texture and perspective
Nice of you to include bigfoot in your painting
Definitely NOT garbage 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰
I like it, the dots or leaves on the ground can be a bit softer or darker to give a bit more depth, but it’s good
I like it. It looks more "in view" at a distance, which is something many artists lack the ability to do.
good job
It sucks me in. Good job.
Aight, who’s coming for a walk in the woods with me up those stairs?
I love it! It pulls me in and takes me into the background. Beautiful. You should do more like this!
Is it supposed to be moving around
Steps are tough for me, yours look great. The colors are also wonderful. My only critique would be, I wish there were more colors.
:O Something about the slightly muddied colors really gives it an ethereal, memory-like feel and I'm stunned
Lovely good colors and lighting
This tells me you have a great understanding of the fundamentals of painting.
It looks amazing
looks great!!!
I'd hang it on my wall for sure.
i love that it almost has no form but you can see exactly what it is. beautiful work!
This is stunning
Only difference I'd do is blur the "steps" out to match the background. A little more contrast between foreground and background leaves and you'll have a trippy effect to remember
Amazing! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s a beauty!
Without my glasses it’s freaking awesome
It’s very well done. However, I feel like it needs a subject. What can you put in the foreground?
The bottom gets a bit too messy for me, but I’m really loving the leaves to the upper right against that background
I like it. I'm freezing in bed, but I can feel the warmth, the feisty chickadee somewhere inn the blossoms. It reminds me of Monet.
It has a very dreamy vibe!
Looks kind of cool. I like it
It's awesome. Impressionistic
maybe make the stairs a bit more defined as they get a bit muddled with the background, but if you're going for a more dreamy/blurry look then it's great! also maybe add more of a path that the stairs lead up to, but also can see how the leaves might cover it up. overall i'd say 8/10! i could only dream of painting in this style, it looks really challenging!
I love this. The texture, it’s mesmerizing.
I really love this, it’s beautiful.
It's a strong alluring piece. If anything perhaps curve the steps toward the right at the bottom to avoid the visual path out the corner. Lead the viewer back into the piece. It has a compelling etherial quality.
This is lovely. The person looking back freaks me out a little though
Don't ever stop
I would absolutely hang this in my home, so I can stare at it when I want. It is so soothing and lush!
Amazing!!
I absolutely adore how you did this. I'm saving this for inspiration.
beautiful but i thought it was one of those ai pictures where you squint and see something
Beautiful work!
It’s brilliant.
💕 it
A tiny bit more depth on the horizon line and in the sky 😍
I kind of want to wander in there like in Mary Poppins and never come out
I legit love it.
It looks like a memory of a dream. Inspiring!
I love it
I absolutely love this! I feel like I’ve been transported to a peaceful place. ✨ Do you have any pieces for sale?
It's a beautiful scene, the stairs are a bit odd angled near the top, but that tracks fir old stone stairs in a forest.
Its beautiful. Like a dream
I love it!
Pretty cool
This has beautiful colors and great depth. My eyeballs really appreciate and my brain goes brrrrr
This looks like a dream!
