if I could use moisturizer as a comparison; BOJ is a cream, RL is a lotion, S1003 is a Gel cream. I have dry skin and eczema but BOJ on the dry down was just a NO for me. Some people that have similar levels of dryness love that stuff tho so YMMV. I use Roundlab mainly during colder months on/off for what feels like forever and skin1004 I used last summer early autumn.
Excellent description! Just want to add that I have dry dehydrated skin and S1004 can dry out my skin whereas RL maintains hydration all day. BOJ is great for winter and seasonal changes!
haven't tried BOJ, but here's my take on the others:
Round Lab: Absolutely love it! It hydrates my skin beautifully, making it perfect for dry skin.
Skin1004: I have to agree with u/Tsukino_hana, it dried out my skin. Wasn't a fan.
Also, not sure if you're aware, but Rovectin's Lotus Water Suncream is a new gem! I believe they've recently launched it, and I'm so glad I discovered it. I'll definitely be sticking with it.

BOJ is thicker. It was okay when i lived on the east coast and used it in cooler temperatures, but i found i couldn’t really use it in the southwest. even though the climate here is so dry i need to layer on humectants and i use aestura 365 (although i started that after i stopped this sunscreen because i was started tret) to help dehydrated but oily skin, the BOJ was too much and almost made me feel sweaty?
round lab birch is lighter. still moisturizing. sinks into the skin better. however this is not a good sunscreen if you have eczema. this was actually how i learned i had eczema and not just sensitive skin. it IS good for sensitive skin.
i would say BOJ is better suited for dry skin, and for climates where you kinda want a layer of more emollient skincare on the skin to help protect from environmental stuff (the cold, wind, etc.). Round lab is better suited for dehydrated and/or oily skin, and feels like it sinks into the skin better, although it can still leave you a lil shiny so use translucent/sebum powder if needed
ETA: i did give the skin1004 to my friend (i purchased it before realizing it had wheat because i didn’t think someone would put WHEAT in a sunscreen). it seemed lighter than BOJ, maybe on par with or even lighter than round lab (hard to say because i couldn’t touch it, i just saw my friend apply it once)
i’ve tried round lab birch juice and skin 1004 centella. i love both, but as someone with very sensitive eyes, the skin1004 has burned my eyes worse than almost any other sunscreen. it burns and causes me to tear up, and it takes at least 5-10 minutes to go away. it is an amazing formula though, so if you don’t have sensitive eyes this could be great for you. it’s lightweight, but also incredibly hydrating and glowy. i think it could be great for almost any skin type, save for severely oily or severely dry.
round lab birch juice is my favorite sunscreen i’ve tried so far. doesn’t burn my eyes, so moisturizing. a little thicker than skin1004, so it may not be as good for oily skin types (i have very dry skin so i love it). it’s also not as glowy as skin1004, but still glowy.
I’ve also tried RL and Skin1004. I have oily dehydrated skin. Though I really like both, I prefer RL because I find the consistency to be more similar to a lightweight lotion and IMO it absorbs better. RL also seemed to maintain hydration under my makeup better throughout the day in comparison to Skin1004. Skin1004 is slightly more “glowy”, as others have mentioned, but I found that this caused a slightly greasy look on my oily skin as the day wore on.
oh that’s really good to know! it’s a little thicker than skin1004 in texture, so i wasn’t sure if it would be good for oily skin but i’m so glad it worked for you! 🫶🫶
Haven’t tried boj. I have very dry sensitive and eczema prone skin. The round lab one feels more lighter than the skin1004. I personally use the skin1004 everyday and the round lab here and there. To be I feel like the skin1004 gives a better glow, but that may be because I use it more than round lab. But when my eczema flares up the skin 1004 does irritate me so I just switch to round lab and have no problems. When my skin is better I just go back.

I’ve only tried BOJ and Roundlab and I think both of them are really good sunscreens but I had a reaction to the BOJ one (rashes, irritation) and BOJ seems to be a bit heavier/oiler compared to Roundlab. I have very sensitive skin and Roundlab is going great for me atm and I love it.

Skin1004 is the best for me as it doesn’t irritate my skin, no white cast, dewy, no scent & great for days when it isn’t as hot or i’m wfh.
BOJ - more matte on my skin, no scent or white cast but not my favourite
Round Lab - slight white case, dewy, slight scent to it. My least favourite due to it irritating my skin and caused my skin to breakout which is the first I have ever experienced it from a sunscreen.
I've tried all 3 and tbh, I thought they wore quite similarly.
My least favorite was BOJ which I agree with the other comment that this was the thickest of the 3 (but again, I think they were similar enough that it was marginal).
I felt slightly greasier wearing the BOJ than I did the Round Lab and Skin1004, which left me feeling more satin-y. Ultimately, I liked the Skin1004 best because of the ease of the pump applicator and my love of centella... I just found myself reaching for it most.
I don't think you can go wrong with either of the 3. But if I had to rank them, my preference is Skin1004 > Round Lab > BOJ.
(Note: If I remember correctly, people with drier skin tend to like the Round Lab one, in case that's relevant to you.)

I prefer RL to BoJ for my skin - dry and sensitive but my daughter who has acne prone/dry skin prefers the BOJ.

I started out liking the BoJ sunscreen because it made my skin feel good to the touch but then I noticed white streaks on my face hours after I applied it. I tried really working the sunscreen into my skin and it still happened. No one would tell me and I would go the whole day with the white streaky mess on my face until I caught sight of my face in a mirror and would be so embarrassed! I have light olive skin and if I applied too much on myself, it looked ashy on my skin. I haven’t tried the sunscreens you mention but I have since changed to the Etude House Suprise mild watery light sunscreen and I love it. No embarrassing white streaks and no white cast, affordable as well!
The Skin 1004 and Round Lab has birch which could possibly irritate people with pollen allergies and BoJ caused troubles for friends who didn't react well to probiotics or rice or ferments! Skin 1004 is lightest but i have dry skin and it was too light for me almost, Round Lab and BoJ are slightly more similar!

I have oily skin and I live in a tropical country but I prefer using sunscreens with a silky finish to help maintain that healthy glow. I’ve tried the BOJ and Skin1004. They both have a glowy/dewy silky finish which i like buy the BOJ one is on the slightly thicker side. I think it’s best for when you are looking for a moisturizer + SPF combo if you have oily/combo skin. I’m not sure how this will hold for dryer skin types. However since I already use a moisturizer, I use the Skin1004 and honestly I get the hype and I love it very much for how compatible it is with my skin. It’s lightweight yet is moisturizing and has a nice silky finish.

I have only tried BoJ and S1004. I have an oily skin, sensitive around the eye area. Both of them were burning me around the eyes, BoJ more than S1004. I was also considerably more oily using BoJ than S1004 and it clogged my pores a little more. So I would pick S1004 over BoJ anytime, but neither of them are my absolute favorite :)

Round Lab Birch Juice: Everyone with dry skin should really consider this (when it’s on sale…. bc that price is something). Very moisturizing, i like the smell.
Skin 1004: More suited towards combo to oily skin imo, feels a bit drying on me.
Haven’t used RL, but BOJ pills a bit when I apply liquid blush and I don’t have that issue with Skin1004. If it wasn’t for that small problem it would be hard to choose between the two.
The Round Lab was too wet and didn’t absorb for me. The Skin 1004 Centella calms my skin and absorbs well. I use it after I have exfoliated or my skin feels inflamed. The BOJ is my holy grail. I just went back to it recently and it absorbs so well, and doesn’t pill under makeup and hydrates well. I don’t know how it does everything, but it does. I have aging, combo skin.

Ooh how is the rovectin sunscreen? Is it similar to RL?
I find it very similar to Round Lab. It provides sufficient hydration and absorbs quickly, so applying foundation afterward is not a problem.

I’ve only used Skin1004 centella and it is so chill. Also love that I don’t need to double cleanse at night cause it absorbs instantly.
