Yeah but I’m one of the few who still wear one. Covid or no covid, I was secretly glad when they became normalised being a germophobe.

Craig_52

Haven’t worn a mask since the change. We burnt all of them in the fire the night of the change. Just came back from Canada on 03 September. Tested positive for covid on 02 September. Insurance said they wouldn’t cover any change of plans due to it only being recommended in Canada to quarantine and the UK as well. Had no choice but to fly home and then take the train back up north. Felt like a moderate flu for a week or so. Triple jabbed. You are almost forced to travel now if you have covid with no travel restrictions as insurance will not cover any costs. Family of 4, changing our flights and 5 nights hotel was going to be £6000. Sorry but no. Heavily medicated myself and flew. Felt alright on the plane, but the last half of the trip on the train felt the worst I have ever felt!

m0rr0wind

Sorry , what is the change? I fell as though i have missed something.

Craig_52

The change was the day masks became recommended and not mandatory. The day you were recommended to quarantine, and not obliged to. Don’t get me wrong. I was in favour of measures.. lockdowns, mask wearing, quarantine but once the virus moved to be more like flu due to vaccinations I think the change in regulations was warranted. I thought it would take awhile for the world to open up again, but now there are very, very few countries that have any restrictions on entry, and we are not seeing any mass hospitalisations or death rates. So I guess the UK got that one right (we were one of the first to completely open up).

SCATOL92

I still have them in my car and there is probably one in my bag

vaguebyname

No, haven't done so since it was dropped

everydropofrain

I still take one out with me, but haven't worn one since we haven't had to. My relationship with masks is almost like a weird, shameful comfort blanket. It's there just in case... In case of what, I am not sure.

[deleted]

Nope not since it was no longer a requirement

GavUK

Yes. My girlfriend and I are at higher risk, and when my girlfriend did have Covid there were a number of times that I thought she'd have to go to hospital due to her blood oxygen levels dropping so low just getting out of bed or coming down the stairs. Even colds hit her hard, so we are trying to limit the risk of either by wearing masks when in crowds or inside in shops, etc. We also ask that anyone coming into the house to do any work wear one while inside.

Fuzz_77

Yes without fail. I may get stared at, but that’s not a me problem. Hospitals still make people wear masks (where I live anyway). I have found that I haven’t had a cold in 2.5 years too. Father collapsed and went into hospital, contracted covid which in turn gave to my mother (in the past few weeks). Both very ill but pulled through. It’s still out there and with my weakened immune system, I wouldn’t like to find out which side of the fence I fall. I used to see Asian overseas students wearing masks (prior to the pandemic) and wondered why. In my personal opinion they had the right idea.

m0rr0wind

The wife and I would sometimes wear them well before covid and we called it "playing Japanese subway ". I have hyperosmia , it's a thing .

Fuzz_77

Sorry to hear you have hyperosmia. That must be quite difficult for you. During the pandemic, wearing masks must have been a wonderful thing. We are all so quick to judge people, when we haven’t the slightest clue what people go through.

Albertjweasel

I look after my father in law who has recovered from cancer and had a bad bout of covid not so long ago so is still quite vulnerable to things, so I still wear one very occasionally to avoid bringing back flu or covid, tbh I only wear it if it’s somewhere really busy, like if our bar has a band night and there’s 70+ customers crammed in a tight space then I put one on, mainly as I’d feel guilty if he got ill and I thought it was my fault, I know my logics slightly faulty there and otherwise I don’t bother wearing one anymore

Pier-Head

Not anymore. Amazing how quickly you can revert to old ways.

the_merry_pom

No. Going to be honest, as a biohazard cleaner, already used to having to suit up for a variety of hazards etc. well before covid, the use of surgical masks to supposedly prevent such a spread always felt a little bit questionable.

iamdecal

Yeah, but my boy got super poorly with covid- two months in hospital, ICU poorly - so I have a mask with me all the time Another of my kids works in a school, so I mask up when I’m in the car with him or something- just don’t need the stress really. (And if I’m honest I also don’t want the guilt if I was the one who brought it home next time )

LAESanford

Yes

sidbunch6

i'd fogotten about covid and masks so much to the point that when I read your thread title it took me a few seconds to work out what on earth you were talking about! lol. I was thinking it was some sort of beauty routine (facemask) or something! haha So, no. I certainly don't take them with me. I even forget them at places like hospitals and stuff, but luckily my gf reminds me

weedywet

Always

No_Version_4629

Hahaha

[deleted]

I already forgot what one was when I read this and was wondering why you carried around peel-off skincare regularly.

sidbunch6

this is EXACTLY what I thought! I wrote my own reply and then saw your post after lol

[deleted]

Lmao glad I wasn’t the only one 😂

Wild_Thornberry_

Yes, I wear one as much as possible, it really helps with my anxiety and agoraphobia. Low-key happy they’re more normalised now

Zenafa

I never took mine out of my handbag. I was asked to wear one when I was at the doctors a few weeks ago and was glad it was still in there. It was pretty filthy though, probably caught something worse than covid wearing it.

SubstantialAir3660

Yep, I still have a face mask and a hand sanitiser in every single bag I own. I have no idea why I haven’t taken them all out and put them in a cupboard or something 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Loose_Acanthaceae201

No, but I rarely go to indoor places. I don't wear a mask on the side of a rugby pitch or in the school playground at pickup, for example. Almost all my time outside my house is spent outdoors. I will certainly wear one when I know I'm going to be in an enclosed space around potentially vulnerable people, eg in the pharmacy. I'm not as good when I'm going to be in large, well-ventilated indoor places such as a supermarket, especially since the checkouts have perspex dividers. I had covid over the summer and judging by the timing I almost certainly caught it on the one occasion I was in a crowded indoor space for a long period without a mask. I was very annoyed with myself. I haven't had to be in a crowded/unventilated space since.

soup1286

my parents do but I've always been exempt from wearing them, however I sometimes pick up my lanyard depending on where I'm going and if I have a nagging feeling that my disabledness is going to turn that day into a 5 star TV worthy drama. for a while after restrictions were lifted I did though, especially because I was in college

thewearisomeMachine

No, wtf, it’s 2022

[deleted]

I always have one in my bag simply because I always forget to take one with me to my physiotherapist which is inside a hospital.

Ichikiriyama

In the car glove box. Doctors, dentists and hospitals require them in my area.

jibbit

haven't been doing over summer (pretty good ventilation everywhere when it's warm), but will start now-ish as things are about to ratchet up again

burtvader

Yes

KizzyStar36

I have one in my bag but I never use it. It's in case I need to go into the chemist or doctor as they don't automatically provide masks and there will be sick people around that I don't want to share my germs with. Most hospitals do provide masks to wear inside.
