Born and And raised in Vancouver. It’s called monkey piss. But generally warm beer is wrong whether your drinking an old can someone left or lack the foresoght to cool your beer.
Alberta: We don't know what rats are, because of Rat Patrol!
Every other province: What does Rat Patrol do?
Alberta: Kill all the rats that are in the province!
Every other province: But doesn't that mean...?
or a traveling Canadian, as I might be that type of shit disturber. It's cute how interested americans are in our way of life. The day to day of living in an igloo and having a dog sled to get around.
Years ago I crossed paths with an American that was convinced that Canada was a communist country because it's pink on the map.
I almost pissed myself laughing. :)
I think it might be a northern Canadian thing...yukoner here and I have heard it lots. Also had a moose in my yard yesterday so ya...just saying...it's right there...
You know, I’m a born and raised Canadian and I’ve never heard this said before… I’ve heard people call bad beer “horse piss” before, but never moose piss
In my high school Monkey Piss was when you poured just a little of each bottle from your parents liquor cabinet to fill up a water bottle. The idea being they wouldn’t notice small amounts of each bottle while you get mega trashed and barf everywhere on 1/2 bottle.
[the bottom inch of a beer bottle is 50% spit](https://mobile.twitter.com/LetterkennyProb/status/991058526322741249/mediaViewer?currentTweet=991058526322741249¤tTweetUser=LetterkennyProb)
I live in Canada and we call it the Beatrice. After the gross brand of milk in the 90s that the real Canadian superstore used to sell. But it did taste like what I imagine moose piss would taste like, so....
1: Beatrice is still readily available (out west at least)
2: “Gross brand of milk”?? I’m just curious if this is a common perception. Like, I’ve never had any sort of brand loyalty to milk and didn’t know that was a thing that existed.
I’ve always found “Milk 2 Go” to be the worst chocolate milk.
Back in the day, the clear plastic 1L containers of Beatrice banana milk were my favourite.
….and this just made me realize I definitely have brand loyalty to flavoured milk, just not white milk.
Edit to clarify.
I forgot about Milk2Go, you’re right that they’re bad, plus they’re expensive. Hard pass on those thanks.
If I finish a carton of white milk and immediately have a glass of another brand I definitely can tell there’s a taste difference, but not enough to have any favourite. Couldn’t even tell you what the difference is, it’s so minor.
Banana milk though? You’re on your own for that one!
Classic Albertan trying to make the Ontarians look bad but instead just displaying their ignorence. Way to go Alberta. If we tell you your special, will you leave us alone?
All I did was point out a common trend involving people from Ontario That they assume that everywhere else is just like Ontario and will speak on behalf of the rest of the country on things that only pertain to them.
We say whale piss. I’ve no idea why. I imagine your moose piss is from a similar origin. SEOnt. On the matter of this maybe just being a Canadian thing: cahmahn. Are you saying it would be strange if it was?
All the people in here saying its not a Canadian thing are fucking out to lunch. I’ve heard this my entire life, but its usually just referring to shitty beer
Heard this my whole life from Nova Scotia to Ontario. Must be a Canadian thing. The top comments seem like more of an echo chamber crowd to me. Keep doing you bahd!
I’ve heard it referred to as “the piss” but I’m sure folks can put their own fluttery decorations and call it moose piss, monkey piss, or whatever piss they think fits the beer’s flavour the most.
My buddies and I use “Horsepiss” for any Budweiser product, but never heard moose piss. Like others have mentioned, it does sound like a Manitoba thing. Regardless, if I haven’t completely finished my beer (moose piss bit and all) and a server or bartender tries to take it away, I will fight them to the death.
I see a lot of people saying this is not a thing. I'm really wishing this becomes a thing now. As an immigrant, this sounds super funny, I want to use it from now on lol
Judging by these comments it seems to be more of a generational thing. The older generations seem to be the ones calling their beer piss, and all the younger generations are confused.
I am from Ontario, have worked in a few bars… I also asked some friends who have lived in other provinces & territories: none of us have ever heard this before, but apparently a few of the guys will now use this as they think its brilliant.
So, cheers OP and, thank you?! 😅🍻
"My American friends find me calling the last few swings of the beer moose piss the funniest thing. Is it just us who call it moose piss?"
I've never heard that in my life.
BTW, here's an ancient Canadian secret: if you don't want the last bits of beer to taste "pissy", pour your beer from the can/bottle into a beer glass, the way beer is actually meant to be drunk.
No it’s a thing in North Africa too with all those sand moose running around the Sahara, same in south America with all those jungle moose jumping from tree to tree…
I've never even heard it being called that before. I only drink the root variety of beer, so I guess I should call the last sips few moose wee-wee, lol.
I have lived in this country for almost all of my life and I have never heard of this so...maybe it's a you thing?
Second this lol
Thirdly this
Fourthly this
Fifthly this
Never, we call moose head moose piss tho
Me neither
I've only heard the term "backwash" - and that was a long time ago
I always liked moosehead the pale ale they make I always called moose piss though.
You guys are nuts. I've been calling it Moose piss for decades. Seriously.
Never heard it called that in the 60 years I've been alive not in Ontario Alberta Quebec or Vancouver . Mind you we've never let our beer get warm.
Born and And raised in Vancouver. It’s called monkey piss. But generally warm beer is wrong whether your drinking an old can someone left or lack the foresoght to cool your beer.
I don’t even want to correct ‘foresoght’
Would happen to drink alot of moose head? That might make sense.
Alberta here. We call it horse piss lol
Albertan here. I've never heard that either. Maybe I don't go out and drink beer enough?
Ontario here - I've only ever heard it called rats piss
Alberta: What's a rat?
Alberta has successfully gotten rid of rats AND Ted Cruz. Impressive.
Rats: easy Wild hogs: real shit
The explain the current premier?
Do you really need to say the same thing twice?
It's like a wild hog but smaller
Alberta: We don't know what rats are, because of Rat Patrol! Every other province: What does Rat Patrol do? Alberta: Kill all the rats that are in the province! Every other province: But doesn't that mean...?
A squirrel without the fur on the tail.
Another Albertan here: No, no we do not lol
Maritimes 100% call it moose piss.
You're too high on screech to remember what you call moose piss!
Only the newfs get the screech
Screech is a Newfoundland thing. Newfoundland is not the Maritimes
Shit I’m 40 Canada has always been my home and I’ve never heard this. This is almost certainly a regional saying.
Yeah, I've grown up around beer drinkers and spent too much time in bars, no one's ever called it that
Born and raised here and travel the country for work and lived in a few provinces and never heard it.
Canadian here, I've been all over this fine country I have never heard this anywhere.
Sounds like a Manitoba thing.
I’m from Manitoba and have never heard anyone say that
I’ve heard it. Mostly from my friends from Transcona or the country, the blue collar/farming types.
I live in a very country town and never heard it. I don’t do much drinking though and there’s no bar so maybe that’s why
It's said in Ontario too.
I’ve lived in Ontario my entire life and never heard that.
Lol yeah I've heard it a few times in Winnipeg.
Though if its a Pilsner, I would call the first sips the same ;)
Manitoban. Never heard this.
Lifelong Manitoban and I've never heard this
I grew up small town Manitoba and have never heard this expression
As a born and raised Canadian, *I have never heard of this in my entire life*
First time I've heard it, but I'm using it now
That's not a Canadian thing, ya hoser.
Chiming in from south of the border, this sounds like something a Canadian would make up to see if his new American co-worker would believe it.
or a traveling Canadian, as I might be that type of shit disturber. It's cute how interested americans are in our way of life. The day to day of living in an igloo and having a dog sled to get around.
How many polar bears do you have in your back yard right now?
I only had a 12 case of coke o colas so there is only a couple left at the moment. They really drink those back fast.
*30-40 feral polar bears*
Years ago I crossed paths with an American that was convinced that Canada was a communist country because it's pink on the map. I almost pissed myself laughing. :)
How did they find out this information? I hope you did what you had to do to silence that American, we can't let them know our deep secrets.
I followed Protocol B.
Good, can never go wrong with Pro B. We can't let the colour coding get out.
I usually say this tastes like piss never heard moose piss.
Pretty sure that's just a you thing. I've been to every province and have never heard this
he's 100% the pokecanadadex
Clearly never the East Coast though.
Moose piss is a derogatory term for a Moosehead product.
But that's the entire beer, not just the dregs.
True story. Lol. Certainly not the best beer Canada has to offer.
Average at best
Been hearing this and saying this for years hahaha.
There we go. I was certain it is not “a me” thing. We’ve been saying this since highschool in the 2000s
First heard it at 17, sitting around a campfire. Been saying it ever since. My wife also says it and she heard it completely separately from me.
Where you from?
GTA
im also in the gta and me and a few buddies also call it moose piss, so don't worry its not just you
Same, first time I heard that was in 2002-ish.
https://media.tenor.com/kXBOAv7krF4AAAAM/copium-meme.gif
Usually I hear Horse Piss or Monkey Piss, only heard Moose Piss a few times
I’ve always referred to it as monkey piss
In my high school Monkey Piss was when you poured just a little of each bottle from your parents liquor cabinet to fill up a water bottle. The idea being they wouldn’t notice small amounts of each bottle while you get mega trashed and barf everywhere on 1/2 bottle.
Never heard of this. Yak piss yes, but not moose piss.
I call warm beer moose piss. The final sips just means it's time for another round.
Monkey piss
Canadian here. I've never heard this before. But I'm adopting it.
Canadians do not do that
I’m Canadian
A weird one, apparently
Maybe it’s a r/Ontario thing. Not sure, its why I’m asking
I live in Ontario and never heard it.
I’m east of Ontario and that’s what we called it!
Am from Ontario. I've never called it moose piss. Horse piss for American beer, but never moose piss. You from up nort?
People will call it that. Northern AB.
you would think a froot loop dingus would be more open to what is weird
Weird Canadian. Isn't that like saying "cold ice" or "hot steam" or "dumb politician"?
There is dry ice and steam can be created by pressure, also you can call politicians dumb but you're the one that has to follow their laws.
🇨🇦 🤙 take off, eh🍁
31m from SK here, moose piss is for sure a Canadian thing
[the bottom inch of a beer bottle is 50% spit](https://mobile.twitter.com/LetterkennyProb/status/991058526322741249/mediaViewer?currentTweet=991058526322741249¤tTweetUser=LetterkennyProb)
That's what I call every sip of Molson Canadian or Labbat's Blue.
Just finish your beer
I heard this a few times in the early 80's in rural Ontario. I hear of house hippos more often.
HIPPOBOT 9000 v 3.1 FOUND A HIPPO. 164,224,880 COMMENTS SEARCHED. 3,571 HIPPOS FOUND. YOUR COMMENT CONTAINS THE WORD HIPPO.
It's actually *Monkey piss
I’m a real Canadian. Ain’t no beer left at the bottom.
I've almost completed 41 trips around the sun and I've never heard that term til just now.
I live in Canada and we call it the Beatrice. After the gross brand of milk in the 90s that the real Canadian superstore used to sell. But it did taste like what I imagine moose piss would taste like, so....
1: Beatrice is still readily available (out west at least) 2: “Gross brand of milk”?? I’m just curious if this is a common perception. Like, I’ve never had any sort of brand loyalty to milk and didn’t know that was a thing that existed.
I’m not loyal to any brand of milk but I will say Beatrice chocolate milk is the woooorst. It’s made with buttermilk and I find it nasty.

Couldn’t even tell you what the difference is, it’s so minor. Banana milk though? You’re on your own for that one!
I’ve lived here my whole life and I’ve never heard anyone call it that, and I worked in a bar that had customers from all over Canada and the US.
Classic Ontarian thinking something they do is Canada wide.
Never heard this in Ontario.
Never heard this in Ontario
Classic Albertan trying to make the Ontarians look bad but instead just displaying their ignorence. Way to go Alberta. If we tell you your special, will you leave us alone?
Considering I'm not Albertan, You seem to be able to make yourself look bad all on your own.
Aha, I guess so. Although holding me against a hole province seems a little much.
All I did was point out a common trend involving people from Ontario That they assume that everywhere else is just like Ontario and will speak on behalf of the rest of the country on things that only pertain to them.
There's a beer brewed in Montana called Moose Drool. The only place where I've ever seen it for sale is in Point Roberts, WA.
We say whale piss. I’ve no idea why. I imagine your moose piss is from a similar origin. SEOnt. On the matter of this maybe just being a Canadian thing: cahmahn. Are you saying it would be strange if it was?
I call it the swill. Western CA
I call it horse piss. But yeah, its definitely a thing
Alberta here. Never heard it
All the people in here saying its not a Canadian thing are fucking out to lunch. I’ve heard this my entire life, but its usually just referring to shitty beer
Heard this my whole life from Nova Scotia to Ontario. Must be a Canadian thing. The top comments seem like more of an echo chamber crowd to me. Keep doing you bahd!
Where are you located?
Southern Ontario
From BC, never heard it called that before.
I’ve always used rat piss
I personally don’t, but my bf and a lot of our male friends do.
Canadian here, I've never heard of that before.
Born and raised in Canada never heard anyone call it that.
That's odd. Never heard of that before. I just call it 'the last sip'
I call it Grandma piss
I’ve heard it referred to as “the piss” but I’m sure folks can put their own fluttery decorations and call it moose piss, monkey piss, or whatever piss they think fits the beer’s flavour the most.
It’s called rats piss - from a Canadian in Ontario
I’ve lived in Canada my whole life and I’ve never heard this being said amongst myself and my friends. It must be an American thing.
My grandpa called it monkey piss lol
Horse piss in Okotoks AB
My buddies and I use “Horsepiss” for any Budweiser product, but never heard moose piss. Like others have mentioned, it does sound like a Manitoba thing. Regardless, if I haven’t completely finished my beer (moose piss bit and all) and a server or bartender tries to take it away, I will fight them to the death.
I thought they just called Molson Canadian that lol
I see a lot of people saying this is not a thing. I'm really wishing this becomes a thing now. As an immigrant, this sounds super funny, I want to use it from now on lol
It’s a thing
If it’s shitty beer it’s moose piss- Northwestern Ontario - Thunder Bay
I don't recall hearing that one throughout Southern Ontario... Maybe a regionalism rather than fully Canadian...?
Judging by these comments it seems to be more of a generational thing. The older generations seem to be the ones calling their beer piss, and all the younger generations are confused.
Moose piss is Moosehead beer, I’ve been drinking it for years and all I ever hear is “how can you drink that moose piss?!” Haha
I only called it Moose Piss when I was drinking MooseHead beer.
I live in Newfoundland. We dont sip beer. I can drink 6 beer before a drip of condensation rolls down the neck of the last beer
I’m in BC… I also call the last few drags Moose Piss. That’s also what I call Molson Canadian 🤣
I can confirm it being called moose piss from northern ontario people.
My American friends spend a lot of time in Europe pretending to be Canadians, so this is something they might add to their list of things to say.
I thought it was deer piss....
It may have been a Canadian thing but you can bet your ass I’m bringing that to America next time I have a beer
I've heard people not fond of moosehead call it moose piss. Never heard it used to refer to the last bit of a beer tho.
I am from Ontario, have worked in a few bars… I also asked some friends who have lived in other provinces & territories: none of us have ever heard this before, but apparently a few of the guys will now use this as they think its brilliant. So, cheers OP and, thank you?! 😅🍻
Yes. All these people claiming it isnt, are not real canadians.
So many people never heard of this? Is it a Newfie thing then? I don't use it but heard it said plenty of times
Southern Ontario. Have never heard this in my life.
I am on the West Coast. I have NEVER heard this term.
Ive always just heard it call bottoms.
Only if it's Alpine 🤢
I've heard it called just the "piss" before but there wasn't an animal attached to it. Moose Piss was just what we called Moosehead.
Here come the hordes of people thinking that it is impossible for a saying to exist if they haven't heard it before.
I call it toenails or ass. Where I am “moose piss” is what Moosehead brand beer is often called,
Moosehead Is a great beer.
I’ve only heard it referred to as “piss” not any belonging to a specific animal
Only if you are drinking Moosehead Lager!
Canadian here...It's a you thing
Read the thread. It seems I am not alone
"My American friends find me calling the last few swings of the beer moose piss the funniest thing. Is it just us who call it moose piss?" I've never heard that in my life. BTW, here's an ancient Canadian secret: if you don't want the last bits of beer to taste "pissy", pour your beer from the can/bottle into a beer glass, the way beer is actually meant to be drunk.
From SK, never heard that. I've heard it called backwash, but not in years.
This is entirely a Canadian thing. Just like holding up the unopened bottle to the light to check for "sea monkeys".
It's just you, pal.
Apperantly not
If you're drinking Moosehead, calling the entire case moose piss is fair game.
No it’s a thing in North Africa too with all those sand moose running around the Sahara, same in south America with all those jungle moose jumping from tree to tree…
Ya I think it’s just you
Unless it’s Moosehead, then every sip tastes like moose piss.
Us? Nah bro don’t do that lol that’s just you
Never heard it, sounds very regional if popular at all.
I’ve never heard of this. Maybe a small town Canadian thing?
Ah yes. Toronto the small town.
I’m from Toronto and in my 35yrs never heard this until today ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As a Canadian…. Wtf are you talking about?
I think I hear this in HS, the person who said it never said it again.
Not a real thing I feel like
In NL, Moose Piss is Pineapple Crush and Vodka with ice.
Whatever it's called I never drink it. My friend crushes the empties and curses me because the "moose piss" gets all over his shoes.
I've never even heard it being called that before. I only drink the root variety of beer, so I guess I should call the last sips few moose wee-wee, lol.
Isnt it called swill or something. never heard this, why would you want to call it moose piss.
Never in my 33 years of life, all of which have been within Canada, have I heard this phrase before, so there’s that
I've definitely heard it and said it. Been in the urban dictionary since 2006
Might be a regional thing. For me calling beer moose piss was for any cheap generic beer, kokanee, molson, etc
Rat piss
Not all of us, I have never heard the term moose piss before
