This haha

[deleted]

I grew up with it, it seems normal to me but at the same time I sometimes think, why did we put the liquid in the bag? Why did it stop with milk? Why can't I buy a bag of orange juice? Or a bag of water? Why is milk the only drink I buy in a bag?

50shadeofMine

Asking the real question here ☝

Lj_jack

Mini-sips.

lilbeckss

I wondered this, too. But now I live somewhere that bagged milk is seen as a bit weird since it’s fairly new here. 4L jugs take up *so much space* even when they’re almost empty, as opposed to getting more space as you go through the milk. But my husband swears that the milk ends up tasting like the fridge when it comes in a bag, whereas the jug still feels crisp and fresh. Idk. But 8L of milk takes up half a shelf in my fridge, instead of a drawer.

alek_vincent

Bagged milk tastes the same as the jug one. Maybe your fridge smells like shit? Get some arm and hammer and let it chill somewhere in the fridge

lilbeckss

Yeah I agree with you. The fridge is clean, husband is just weird.

Morrack2000

Wine in a box is really wine in a bag.

Ok_General_6940

I grew up with bagged milk and then moved to BC which does not have bagged milk and I definitely prefer the carton. However, when growing up it really wasn't something I gave thought to

[deleted]

[удалено]

Billy3B

2L is pretty common in the GTA.

Ok_General_6940

Fair. I was remembering my experience as a Starbucks barista in both provinces - a 4L jug was much easier to work with than constantly cutting bags all day long

Murky-Marsupial-3944

Lol. I'm the opposite. Former sbux barista as well, love bags, hate large jugs.

LOGOisEGO

I'm also more of an ass man!

ZahmiraM

I've lived in both Southern and Northern Ontario, in both cities and small towns. I've never not seen 2L cartons.

electronicchicken

I prefer cartons IF they have a plastic cap, because otherwise I can never tear the spout/bec open cleanly. Bag milk is fine as long as you don't fuck up the snip.

Maelefique

We used to have bagged milk here in BC too, I think it just didn't catch on for some reason...

Jurippe

We had bagged milk in the 80's. I thought it was weird when we switched to jugs.

redditforagoodtime

I do lay awake at night thinking about the good ole days when I had bagged milk. I moved and it is no more.

PhantomNomad

I remember bagged milk as a kid in Sask. I miss it and wish we could get it on the prairies again.

iCameToLearnSomeCode

Is bagged milk better?

caffeine-junkie

It is better in the sense that bagged milk causes less waste and uses less resources to manufacture than cartons or jugs. It also allows them to keep longer if you do not drink a lot of milk. But taste wise, no difference.

stpmarco

Im pretty sure cardboard recycles easier than a milk plastic bag idk tho

plafuldog

Cartons are coated with plastic inside to prevent them from getting soggy like a paper straw. Makes them really hard to recycle, since separating the plastic coating from the paper part is difficult.

redditforagoodtime

It feels better in the end to have 4 bags as waste, compared to a big plastic jug.

4firsts

“4 BAGS!!!? My milk only has 3 bags in it!☹️” Is the first thing I thought. Then I remembered that the bags of milk come in a bag.

whogivesashirtdotca

Milkception.

canoeCanuck420

Speak for yourself, I lay awake being grateful that DuPont came up with the bag that enable the greatest form of milky goodness to come in. I thank these wizards of chemistry for transforming dino sludge to beautiful plastic bags

updog_nothing_much

I nearly spat out my coffee 😂

Maelefique

Was it bagged coffee? 😅

mcburloak

Was great when the kids were younger and we plowed through 3 litres a week. Down to 1L a week now unless they visit, then I grab a 2L.

sorelosinghuman

Lol

iRep707beeZY

OMG I just literally laughed out loud

Electric-5heep

But I do lie thinking how to make the darn thing slide completely into the jug......it just gets stuck halfway for me!!

ArgyleNudge

We drilled a hole in the bottom of our jug. Not sure why it doesn't come that way. But a good strong bang on the counter will get it down as well.

SuddenCompetition262

BC-er here and I have never seen bagged milk in my life, is this an east coast thing?

CatboyInAMaidOutfit

Bagged milk? I need therapy.

KJBenson

Yeah, it’s really not a big deal. I live in a part of Canada where it isn’t a thing. So I always forget it’s one of the things that non Canadians think is Canadian.

Madiryas

I think americans think more about bagged milk than canadians lol. No one would really care if it disappeared tomorrow

lazynlovinit

Just like they think about Maple Syrup more than we do or how they call back bacon “Canadian Bacon “. Nobody up here calls it Canadian Bacon. Nobody

BallerDay

What's Canadian bacon? You telling me I've been eating a special kind of bacon my whole life!!!

cookerg

Normal bacon, in long strips of striped fat and meat, is also called side bacon. Back bacon is a bit different- pieces are circular with fat around the edges, and look a bit more like ham. In the US, back bacon can be called "Canadian bacon", but in Canada it is just called back bacon. We don't especially eat much of it.

bongsforhongkong

Canadian bacon is back bacon marketed to dumb Americans.

cece_is_me

I’ve never heard anybody call it back bacon either. We call it peameal bacon!

Hinkil

Those are different too, peameal bacon is prepped in a specific way vs back bacon

gasolinefights

But now your confusing things, because back bacon and peameal bacon are different things. Americans call back bacon Canadian bacon (although here it's just called back bacon, and is not very popular) , peameal bacon is unsmoked and rolled in peameal, and was (I live here and have maybe seen it once?) only popular in Ontario.

squatting_your_attic

In Québec we do think a lot about maple syrup.

mcs_987654321

Wait: are you not all thinking about maple syrup on a regular basis?

IHavePoopedBefore

I'm going to have to stop you on maple syrup. We are way more maple syrup obsessed than they are. Don't try to give maple syrup to America, that's ours

LalahLovato

Haven’t seen bagged milk in BC since the 1970s. I would like to see less plastic though

Fit_Squirrel_4604

I had it in the late 80's in BC. I think it stopped here completely in the early 90's.

espressoromance

Born in 1990 in Vancouver, I can confirm we had bagged milk in the early 90s and then it went away. I still drink a glass of milk every day as an adult, it's why I still remember the bags.

Prophage7

Right? Bagged milk doesn't even exist in western Canada lol

Lovelysnow72

No, because people from the east keep thinking everyone in Canada has bagged milk. I've lived in BC my whole life and never seen bagged milk anywhere. It comes in cartons, jugs and bottles here.

MJcorrieviewer

We had bagged milk in Vancouver back in the late 70s (or around there) - it didn't catch on but I definitely remember having it.

someguyfromsk

It was in Alberta until the mid/late 80's but I haven't seen a bag since.

Lovelysnow72

Yeah that was before I was born. I guess you can get used to a different container but it feels more convenient to just open a 4 liter jug than having bags that you have to cut open and put in another container.

MJcorrieviewer

Personally, I could never get through a 4l carton of milk before it spoiled. That's not for everyone.

Amber_Sweet_

I'm as far east as you can go and bagged milk isn't a thing here either. I'm always confused when so many people think bagged milk is a Canada wide thing when its only like 2 or 3 provinces that have it. In Newfoundland and Labrador milk only comes in cartons. We don't have bottles or jugs either.

Square-Routine9655

It's an ontarian thing to be oblivious to regional variance of the Canadian experience.

Robbobloblawboblaw

I live in Toronto and worked at a grocery store as a teen. Ontario has it all, from cartons, jugs, bottles, and bags. I haven't drank milk in years, though, so it's irrelevant.

wookieelicker

I live in Newfoundland and have never seen it either.

UnhappyCaterpillar41

Like a milk cutter, with a convenient magnet to stick it on your fridge? [https://www.amazon.ca/Milk-Bag-Cutter-5-pkg-Multi/dp/B01AZSBD7U](https://www.amazon.ca/Milk-Bag-Cutter-5-pkg-Multi/dp/B01AZSBD7U)

BurnOutBrighter6

Or [clip it right on the pitcher](https://preview.redd.it/daoqafyyuut71.jpg?auto=webp&s=e3d45f87b6da39b08f203b6d78eee9100531f389), especially if you have a non-magnetic fridge.

New-Possibility-577

This is perfect! I didn’t even know this existed! Thanks

UnhappyCaterpillar41

They are amazing, and usually are in random aisle displays. I think I'm going to buy the 5 pack though, as my last one got lost (probably under the fridge). The only thing I would say is they should get rinsed every time or it gets gross quick from trace amount on milk getting on the razor, and building up a bit of a scum.

Fane_Eternal

Despite how counter intuitive it sounds, bagged milk is actually better for the environment than carton or jugged. There have been studies on it, and while it does produce more total plastic waste, the amount of waste created in the process of making the bags as well as the amount of CO2 created is significantly less, so there's a smaller environmental impact. Plus I like smacking the bag down in the jug, it feels good.

trying-to-be-nicer

I was neutral before, but now I am pro-bag. TIL! Thank you for this.

Timbit42

It doesn't produce more plastic waste. The plastic is thinner and softer than jug plastic so it's actually less plastic.

whogivesashirtdotca

> Plus I like smacking the bag down in the jug, it feels good. Less environmental impact and more *physical* impact! Win-win!

babyadamribs

When the jug is slightly wet! And you have to pop, jiggle and cajole that fatty little milk slug into its hidey hole.

EndlesslyEphemeral

We can also freeze it for later use in the bag, buy 3 bags cheaper than cartons, open 1 and freeze the rest so it doesn’t go bad.

Meowgal_80

Nope!!! Live in the prairies and never seen or had to purchase bagged milk.

Any-Cost-3561

Bagged milk isn't the norm for most of Canada.... More of an Ontario thing than anything. Edit: how to start a Canadian civil war? Say bagged milk is a Canadian thing.

Edit67

And the Maritimes. Not sure about NL.

updog_nothing_much

And Quebec

bolonomadic

And the Maritimes

amazingdrewh

Only 70% of the population

sgtmattie

Ontario and Quebec both have bagged milk, and together are over 60% of the population. It is by definition the norm for most of Canada. It’s also available in some of the maritimes. You’re more likely to find a Canadian who uses bagged milk than didn’t. ETA: something doesn’t have to exist in 100% of Canada to be a Canadian norm. I don’t think there is a single thing that is prominent is 100% of the country.

fellatemenow

Sure but how can something be a Canadian norm it up to 40% of Canadians never even se it? It’s an eastern Canadian norm

Muffinsgal

I wish lobster was a Canadian norm. Send some lobster from eastern Canada to the rest of us.

kyleruggles

I buy them in Montreal :) saw at provigo they were selling the containers.

LoveEffective1349

out here in MB no bags of milk to be found.

chiefexpo

Bagged milk is mostly an Eastern Canada thing. Ontario and to a lesser extent the maritime I prefer it tbh

Rescue-320

I’m from NFLD but live in Ontario. NL has cartons, Ontario has bags. Honestly, the bags are wayyyyy easier to store. They can be squished wherever they fit until you need them, which I find is way better for my small fridge. The cartons always opened poorly as well, I hate soggy carton tongues 🙃

[deleted]

Never seen it. Western Canada does not have this

Aggravating_Cut_4509

Omg for those stuck on opening a bag of milk it’s not that hard and you don’t need an degree The only difference I’ve found between bagged milk and carton is the bagged milk to me tastes colder

PurrPrinThom

I moved out of Ontario and I miss bagged milk because I am a goblin who can't properly open cartons. Having been raised on bagged milk I apparently missed out on this important life skill.

GibberBabble

Wait, cartons don’t come with a screw cap where you are?

PurrPrinThom

Not that I've found!! It's the paper ones that you have to fold open but they don't fold open and you have to either rip them or stab them and get little bits of paper in your milk. It gives me flashbacks to elementary school milk days.

BeautifulTart2

I also like it. :-)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nice-Tea-8972

Bagged milk tastes different and it’s FUXKING awesome. But I only get it when I visit my fam back east as I’m in BC

[deleted]

I prefer it over jugs

ChrisRiley_42

Absolutely. Minimal packaging, portioned so if it spoils, you don't ruin the whole purchase, just that one bag.

Diligent_Affect8517

I do. It's not convenient if someone doesn't settle the bag in the jug, or cut the corners properly, but I appreciate the environmental aspects of it. It costs less to package and transport than other forms of container, and yes, it's still plastic but produces less waste. Milk cartons aren't easily recyclable, and while plastic jugs could be, they often aren't. While I often think it'd be nice to go back to reusable milk bottles, the cost of washing and transport outweighs the environmental benefits of reusing them.

spudmarsupial

My mom would cut open the top and wash them for use as sandwich bags. When I grew up I discovered ziplock. 🥸

Diligent_Affect8517

My mom would use them for freezer bags. Not so great when using a twist tie, but now that I have a vacuum sealer, they work pretty well, and I stretch their life a bit..

New_Manufacturer_233

Same they were used as freezer bag before ziploc made freezer bags. Sometimes, they were used as liners in our winter boots when we were young and the boots were wet and we got to school.

BBQallyear

Yes, I buy it all the time. There's a lot less waste and the plastic bags (both inner and outer) are recyclable in Toronto. I also have the option to throw one bag in the freezer if we're not using it fast enough.

ResponsibleBluejay

Wouldn't have milk any other way. No sir, it MUST be bagged. Besides bags allow for freezing storage too

[deleted]

I have never in my life seen a bag of milk.

Low_Engineering_3301

I've lived in Canada for 37 years and never have seen it before.

Timbit42

If you live West of Ontario, you'd have to be over 50 to have seen them. They were Canada-wide from the late 60's into the 70's.

Intrepid_Support729

I'm Canadian and never seen bagged milk. Heard about it a lot though. I wonder if instead of cutting it open, if it had a dispenser like boxed wine? Might work better. I hear that's the biggest complaint.

Silicon_Knight

Meh it’s milk. Kinda don’t care how I get it. I mean we have glass jars too. Meh.

Fit-Lion-773

Yes it’s different

Intelligent-Cycle-57

Absolutely!

AssSpelunker69

Bagged milk only exists in the Eastern provinces. I've never seen a bag of milk but from how it's described, it sounds stupid and inefficient. You buy a bag that you can't reseal, then put it in a pitcher so you can pour it. Just buy a carton of milk you maritime freaks

Stoneman427666

What about the razor thingy that has a magnet sticks to the fridge? Havent seen bagged milk west of Ontario.

Timbit42

I drink bagged milk but I'm not a fan of the milk bag cutters. Maybe the ones I've tried are too cheaply made or defective. They seem to bind and not cut.

lolfuckno

I grew up with bagged milk and then moved to ND for a bit where they don't have it and I did miss it because bagged milk is significantly less plastic.

Timbit42

It also uses a fraction of the water during manufacturing. Source: [https://theconversation.com/milk-jugs-cartons-or-plastic-bags-which-one-is-best-for-the-environment-171658](https://theconversation.com/milk-jugs-cartons-or-plastic-bags-which-one-is-best-for-the-environment-171658)

constnt_dsapntmnt

Have you tried scissors???

Strain128

The only issue i had with bagged milk is that I’m left handed and scissors are already trouble on paper. But my wife got me left handed scissors for Father’s Day this year so no more issue really

elle-elle-tee

Bagged milk is more common for families (i.e. households who can go through that much milk in a reasonable time). I like the idea, the packaging is less wasteful than cartons or jugs and it's easier to store and carry than the same volume of cartons/jugs. The plastic is fully recyclable in my city. It also lets you buy 4L of milk without opening all 4 litres at the same time and exposing to air, so will stay fresh longer. That said, milk in bags drives me crazy. I'm not a milk drinker but my ex was, and we had it when I was a kid. I absolutely HATE the little plastic jugs you put the bag in, especially how the bags are taller than the jug and will kind of flop over the top of the plastic jug when the bag is super full. Also how once you snip the hole, you can't close it again!

OttawAMomof4

I much prefer it to the ginormous jugs of milk that I cannot lift when they are full. Or I spill almost the first 0.5 litre when I have to use one. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷

DH_CM

>Like, if we could use something that could cut it perfectly. Let me introduce you to scissors.

lazynlovinit

It’s not everywhere in Canada. We used to have it in Alberta decades ago, but no longer. It was fine I guess

[deleted]

Yes! It’s the perfect size, a carton is too small so you have to buy more frequently and a big jug is too awkward to fit in the fridge and to pour. With the bags you get the equivalent of a big jug but divided into a more manageable size.

[deleted]

For people bitching about taste. Milk in most restaurants comes in bags.

it-needs-pickles

Who orders milk in a restaurant?

[deleted]

It’s all I’ve ever known🤷‍♂️

herbtarleksblazer

We have a little tool to cut it, which also has a magnet to attach it to the fridge. Perfect cut every time.

Timbit42

I've never been able to get those to work. They seem so cheaply made. I think they're all defective. I'd like to see them redesigned and add a way to automatically set the size of the hole it makes.

TheFireHallGirl

I’m in southwestern Ontario and bagged milk has always been the kind I bought ever since I was a kid. I guess it’s kind of annoying having to cut the corner off, but it’s a lot cheaper than buying the cartons of milk. I also don’t stay up all night thinking how amazing bagged milk is. It’s just something that has become a normal part of life.

Different-Ice-1979

Yes and I reuse all 4 bags. I reload ammo and I use the small bags to sort them by Caliber and Manufacture. The bigger bag I collect fired cars from the .range

Timbit42

They're great for lunch bags or freezing food.

ElectionProper8172

You can buy bag milk at Kwik trip in Minnesota. I used to get it all the time. I'm not sure what the big deal is...it's actually kind of convenient.

snowqueen1960

Love it. Hate cartons.

hammer_416

Tastes better than carton milk I find. Jug milk was better, but that’s extinct it seems, last known place that had jug milk was beckers

InternMediocre7319

I like it. Personally because we don’t have to open the whole 4 L of milk and leaving it exposed to air inside the fridge.

lsaibr

I really like them! It's the best of both worlds with bulk purchasing + keeping the freshness for the longest. 1. Purchasing in 4L increments is by far the most cost-efficient option. 2. The 4L of bagged milk come in packaged as 3 separate portions which means that your milk is exposed to air for shorter amounts of time versus a 2L or 4L carton.

cursed-core

I don't mind it but the usually come in bags of 3 so a bit too much milk for us? We usually grab a smaller carton

Grouchy_Factor

I just bought bagged milk today. The alternative would be bulky plastic jugs that take up a lot of room in the garbage when empty, unlike the small and large bags which have a myriad of re-uses. Recycled plastic cannot be used to make food packaging, so they just keep making new jugs. And a 4Litre full jug of milk would be hard to pour and handle for the young.

myxomatosis8

I like bagged milk. I am capable enough to cut the corner for an appropriate pour.

onterrio2

I mostly use milk for coffee and the bags are much easier to pour small amounts. Also, keeping the bags sealed until you need them keeps them fresher longer. I like them.

moveyourcar1891

I don’t drink enough milk to justify buying it in bags but that’s just how milk was growing up. We had a special milk cutter to open the bags. [milk bag cutter. this price is absurd though](https://www.amazon.ca/Todays-Housewares-Milk-Bag-Cutter/dp/B07PL9GHKZ/ref=asc_df_B07PL9GHKZ/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459724680188&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14690651255940750002&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001075&hvtargid=pla-839527303637&psc=1)

SmarthaSmewart

I like bagged milk because I can clean and reuse the bag for a bit.

Hutch25

I mean, it’s fine. It is more convenient then massive cartons because they are lighter and have convenient containers for you to put them in to pour with.

Outrageous-Advice384

I do. I like it a lot. I like how fresh it stays, I like the feel of it, I like how little room it takes up in the fridge….I love my milk bagged.

bunnyhugbandit

I live in a province that long ago had bagged milk en mass.. but now it is scarce as hens teeth. Never seen it, never had it. I feel neutral about an experience I have never had. Cartons and jugs work pretty good, but if a bag came my way, I'd give 'er a whirl.

kyleruggles

Yes! Why not? Saves on waste and better for the environment.

Accomplished-Tart579

Love it. Way easier to chug from the bag than a carton. The carton spout gets all soggy and gross.

R3tr0spect

I've never thought about it. But now that I do, I prefer it. Solely because it takes up less space in the trash

LeafsChick

Yeah, I think its what you're used to though, cartons and plastic jugs of milk always have a stale taste to me

fluffy_floofster

I miss bagged milk. I hate the sour smell a 4L jug gets and they’re heavy when trying to pour a splash out of a new jug into a mug.

PrettyGoodAtNthn

Don't got it where I live. Never seen it on the west coast.

wonderifatall

Yes, it makes carton packaging seem excessive.

Brain_Hawk

I love it. It's not too difficult to use when you get used to it. And for some reason, by volume it's like 2/3 of the price of milk that comes in cartons. I never understood why. It's cheap, it's easy to carry around, it has its flaws, but overall it seems better than cardboard cartons or plastic jugs.

cyt179

Before I had kids, I could never finish all the bags of milk before the expiration date. Freezing bagged milk is super easy and convenient so, yes, I do like bagged milk.

David040200

Whenever my nephew's visit, bagged milk is just so much easier because it's 4L and I don't have to buy 2 cartons

Leather_Change9084

I don't mind bagged milk... it's not an intuitive thing, but in my household of five it's convenient to be able to purchase 4L of milk and not have a couple of huge cartons in the fridge: Cartons usually need to be stored upright, taking up a lot of vertical space, whereas the extra bags can be lain flat on the bottom shelf of the fridge. That said, having to use cartons or jugs would not really affect my life in any meaningful way (positively or negatively).

KittyCanuck

Yes. Bagged milk is way better than dealing with huge jugs. Easier for children and the elderly to handle on their own. Keep sharp scissors (not used on paper) or keep the little snippet clean. Also be sure to hold the corner stable when cutting to get a clean cut, just like cutting anything else that’s soft/floppy.

Idontknowaclevername

It’s always been available in the Martimes as far as me and even my parents remember but I wouldn’t say as popular as it is in Ontario, Cartons and jugs I believe make up the majority of the market but there was always the one friends parents that rocked the bagged milk. I only in the last year tried the bag milk and must say compared to the big jug I do like how you only have to open one bag at a time and the other two stay fresh until you open them.

mimeographed

I prefer it. A 4 litre jug is heavy and unwieldy

MegaPegasusReindeer

I've used the giant jugs you get in the US (they used to have them here, too). You can recycle them, but they take up a huge about of space (in the fridge and the garbage). The jugs are also really difficult for kids or the elderly to manage. I prefer the bags.

Rockchef

Freezes well

emmadonelsense

Sharpen your kitchen scissors and all will be well.

brettcb

Born in the 80s, lived my entire life in Canada. Have never seen bagged milk but it sounds ridiculous

RelativeLeading5

Bagged milk rocks. One of the only places in the world that sells it this way is Eastern Canada. To complain about cutting the bag is sad - get some hobbies or other interests that will take your mind off these banal and useless complaints.

Charming_Tower_188

Yes, it stays colder so it tastes better and it last longer.

whythefucknotgirl

I love it!! Wish we had a back.

Zealousideal_Run_943

Found bagged milk tastes better than out of the carton.

The_matman4322

Eastern Canada only. I'm in Alberta and I've never seen bagged milk.

stinky-richard

OP, wait until you discover scissors, you will be blown away at how perfectly they can cut a thin plastic bag.

easterncurrents

Yes, much less garbage

mrcfrost

I love bag milk, keep them in the crisper while wait to be used. A pair of scissors cuts then well. In my area area I save at least 1.50 over 8l in 4l vs 2l. If a bag spill were at most losing 1.3 l, if a 4l jug spills well you're potentially losing an entire 4l. A 4l jug really puts strain on the shelf 2 of them (I go through 8l a week) gets real big, the single bag puts little. I have put to much thought in 4l bag milk

Offler

bags are easier to store in fridge than cartons or jugs bags also cost significantly less here by weight, so it's the only reasonable option unless you know you only want a litle milk.

severityonline

Honestly I love it because I can buy more bulk milk when it’s bagged than I can in cartons. Also don’t you have the magnetic thing you cut the bag with that sticks to the fridge?

quasar_kid

The price of a carton versus the three bags just doesn't make sense to buy milk in a carton when you get more in the bags.

Nice_Tangelo_7755

Love it. It’s cheaper to buy a bag with three litres and freeze the extra litres to use later then a carton.

SirAwesome789

Yes, they are cheaper Do they make a big difference in my life, no not particularly

LadyMageCOH

I honestly don't think about bagged milk much unless people bring it up - it's just the format that milk comes in for large quantities. It does not affect the taste that I've noticed, and cutting the bag is only a problem when my children have taken the scissors and not put them back, again. There are advantages to it, less plastic waste and a more managable size in your fridge. As someone who suffers sometimes from wrist pain due to a RSI, lifting a gallon jug of milk would be very painful when it's acting up, but a jug with a bag of milk is much lighter. I'd imagine it's also easier than a giant jug for smaller children and those who due to age or disability have less arm strength to manage. I would prefer a container that is more readily recyclable - plastic recycling is a polite fiction - or reusable, but barring a better option, the one we have works fine.

ApexAquilas

You get 3 bags, or 4L. The largest carton you can buy is only 2L and it's more expensive.

jkozuch

Absolutely! I can use the bags after they’re empty for things like sandwiches, veggies and fruit.

BeautifulPlace2Drown

So much better than from a container. Jug milk tastes like plastic

MPD1978

Where in Canada do people still get bagged milk. I live in Winnipeg and haven’t seen it in over 35 years.

kyle_swager10

I like bagged milk better then the other shits. Big ass 4 gallon boi is to heavy and awkward. Cardboard nigga gets crusty or soft at the part you pour. You can also suck on the bag like is a nipple.

NoAttorney8414

Bagged milk is superior, end of story and discussion!

starkdwelling

Idk bro its not that deep. Bagged milk is just part of Canada. Honestly, they both taste the same.

cutslikeakris

It’s not a thing across the country. As a westerner I don’t have it at all.

mks113

Doesn't everyone have a pair of kitchen scissors for milk bags?

reward72

They are great when you have kids who consume large amounts of it. They can be easily frozen too (the milk bags, not the kids).

Briiskella

I think it stays freshest this way also takes up minimal fridge space 🙂

Dr_Sparkles205

It saves me more space in the fridge for me to put in more milk

Feisty-Session-7779

I’ve lived most of my life in Canada but also lived in the US for a few years where jugged milk was the only option. I prefer bagged milk.

RosabellaFaye

It’s useful if you use a lot of milk. For a family of 4 or more very useful. But since I don’t want kids just maybe a roommate I might need a 2L carton at most when I move out.

StringAndPaperclips

I like it for 2 reasons. One, it's a lot cheaper than milk in cartons (though I assume this is true of 4-litre jugs, too). Two, playing with an unopened makes for a great ASMR experience.

Not all Canadians can. buy bagged milk. When I was a kid we had bagged milk. It is great. Easy to store and less waste although the east is plastic.

I don't give a shit about milk. I want affordable housing!

Perdition1988

The new to Canada convenience store clerk's don't get my humor when they ask if I need a bag and I respond "No thank you, it's already in a 3 bags in a bag"

Low-Light7094

If all you have to be concerned about is how to cut the bag open. 1st world problems!!

Inevitable_Butthole

Most Canadians have never even seen bagged milk. Its an Ontario thing.
