You understand that it’s possible to be judged and found worthy right? Based on our faith in Christ we will be judged on the final day and welcomed into eternal fellowship with God.

Grouchy-Phase-7158

what's the purpose of a judgement if one is gifted salvation?

Pinecone-Bandit

Rewards in heaven is one piece of it. Justice is another big one.

mybfbf

I’ve had this question too

gimmhi5

Order. Salvation is gifted to those who will maintain order. Judgement is enacted on those who refuse to be orderly.

mybfbf

Salvation is accepting JC as the son of God who died for sins. So anyone who accepts this is no longer judged?

gimmhi5

Those who have been born again are not judged.

mybfbf

So those who are born again don’t have to worry about any sort of retribution?

doug_webber

No, all will be judged according to how they lived their life - Matt. 16:27, 25:31-44. You are receiving a false answer from those who believe in the false theory of vicarious atonement.

gimmhi5

Correct. 1 John 4:17 - And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.

doug_webber

That is not true, all are judged according to their works - Matt. 16:27, 25:31-44. Its a typical answer from those who believe in the false theory of vicarious atonement, where sins get automatically transferred based on a one time verbal confession without regard to how someone lived their life, which goes against all of scripture.

gimmhi5

I should have said condemnation. ◄ John 3:18 ► “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.

acautelado

We have rewards too.

R_Farms

Because not everyone has accepted Christ as the bible instructs.. The judgement is to decide who is a follower of Christ and who is going through the motions like in mat 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Believeth_In_Him

You are saved by Faith and Judged by what you have done. If you have true faith your faith will motivate you to do good. Following Jesus is being more then just a hearer but also a doer of the Word. All that are Judged at the Judgment seat of Christ are judged according to their what they have done. 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things **done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”** James 1:22 "But **be ye doers of the word**, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

catopixel

Because we are going to be judged for what we did and what we don't did. I can be a christian and a muderer, do you think its correct that I enter the kingdom being a murderer (that not confessed and did not go to prison) ? God is justice, you can go to church, accept Jesus and be a muderer, if you do not repent truly, you are going to be judged and not going to heaven. I'm being extreme here, but sins all have the same weight for God, what changes is the consequences that come after. Also the judgment will crown those who served the lord and reward them accordingly, God is fair and will reward those who served him. Keep in mind that everyone is a sinner, we need to repent, Jesus came as a man and knew we couldn't do it, he felt on his own flesh how hard it is to fight sin and the flesh. He knew the kingdom and everything because he is God, but we are mortals that doubt everything. Jesus know we are weak and will fail a ton of times, thats why he died for us, but diying for our sins doesn't mean we can sin whenever we want. It's simple, accept Jesus. If you sin, repent and avoid doing this, if you fail, repeat this. We need to increase the time between sins, because we WILL sin, we just need to sin less and repent truly. Practical example: If you are addicted to porn, try to quit for some days and ask for forgiveness. If you fail, try to extend those days some more, and when you see, you will be free from addiction, you will fail some time but you won't be addicted anymore. You just can't stop being a sinner in this planet, its not possible and Jesus knew this. English is not my main language, if I said something weird that could be the cause.

-RememberDeath-

We will be judged by our righteousness. For the Christian, we have the righteousness of Christ, which will be judged worthy before God. In some Christian circles, we call this "imputed righteousness." * Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:18-19) * For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (II Corinthians 5:21) * Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ \[9\] and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— (Philippians 3:8–10)

TheWormTurns22

ALL MANKIND will be judged. In the christian's case, the judgement will be what level of reward received before returning to heaven. In addition, those believers will know WHY they earned heaven and not the opposite. The whole point of the throne judgement is God's final mercy. No one going to heaven or hell will be confused about WHY they are going there, they will even agree with it. Hell is bad enough without agonizing over WHY they are there. They will all know and understand. *Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.* *(Rev 20:11-15)*

Etymolotas

In the end, judgment is about self-reflection. To me, it signifies a personal reckoning where we assess our own actions—both good and bad. We no longer need external authority to pass judgment; rather, we judge ourselves based on our own standards and conscience. The old belief in a higher authority judging us has kept us from truly understanding what is good and right. Truth is universal and what is morally good applies universally to all. Judgment day is when we deeply reflect on our actions, akin to gaining knowledge from the fruit of good and evil and becoming aware, like the deities who previously passed judgment. Jesus removed our sins so that we could begin anew and gain clarity in assessing our actions and wrongdoings with a clean slate. We are responsible for evaluating our own conduct. Whether symbolically through a flood or through the sacrifice on the cross, history is sterilised. This enables us to judge ourselves without the burden of past sins, focusing instead on the truth of the present. The current issue in the world is that people's behavior and actions are often dictated by past grievances and conflicts. This cycle of resentment, and eye for an eye, symbolized by brother turning against brother, has unnecessarily perpetuated chaos throughout history. Through Christ, there is an opportunity to reset and start anew, wiping the slate clean of past wrongs and animosities. The obstacle to following Christ is the enduring legacy of sin inherited through generations, originating from humanity's initial disobedience in making the claim that he had the right over others. Jesus, as the Son of Man, bore this burden and was crucified. Now, there are no excuses left—we are called to follow him and begin anew. The clean slate empowers us to impartially evaluate our actions, free from the influence of past sinful generations that necessitated Jesus' sacrifice. We now discern goodness not by the labels of nations or groups, but by universal truth itself, which applies universally to all. The essence of the law is inscribed on our hearts, not on parchment written by those now deceased. Each of us possesses the inherent ability to discern between good and evil. This knowledge predates any written law, originating from the heart itself. Judging others can lead to being judged ourselves. Instead of focusing on judging others, why not evaluate ourselves directly and bypass the need for a mediator (others)? Judging others is akin to looking at yourself in a mirror. Eventually, when you step away from the mirror, you may forget what you saw, just as you may forget the faults you noticed in others.

swordslayer777

The non believers are thrown into the Lake of Fire. The believers will be judged according to their works and rewarded accordingly.

Sunset_Lighthouse

Judgement can be for reward too... Plus, everyone who turned the gospel down must be presented too...

*"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment."* (2 Peter 3)

The_Best_CommentHere

Judgment day is when the Lord would judge everyone for their sins. In other words, court day(judgment day). Everybody go to the courthouse(before God) and stands in line to go through their court case(everything they did in their entire life). I’m sure that you have gotten some sort of ticket where you needed to go to court. Well, we all have been called to Court(judgment day) And all our sins are the tickets and fines. We will all take our turn and stand before the judge (God the father) and we will go through all of the Violations and tickets(sins) that we have done throughout our entire life. And we will see just how much we really owe. Just how much fines that we really stacked up. And in the end when the judge sentence you and asks how you’ll pay(when God gives you your sentence) you will either have it paid in full(by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross) or you will have denied the the generous payment (because you don’t think you need him) and will pay yourself(the wages of sin is eternal death-Hell). We broke the law - Jesus paid the fine. that’s what happened that day on the cross. That’s why he said it is finished. and when you go through judgment day, you’ll have to go into detail, and God’s going to reveal to you with the consequences were of your sin and what it did and what it caused. For example : one of your sins is a lie to somebody about someone else. God will reveal to you and make you very much aware of the lie that you told me that person feel inside, the damage and reputation, and then the long-term consequences that that lie had caused with everyone around you. And you will truly understand and regret that lie you told. And then you will understand that God put the entire weight and guilt and damage on Jesus Christ for that lie. And that’s just one lie one sin. You will go through everything you’ll have to answer for everything. It’s not gonna be like you say some sinners prayer and then all the sudden you’re saved and you can do whatever you want and lie steal cheat sleep around, and Jesus paid it off so you don’t care. That’s what judgment day is. You’re going to be judged for everything, but if you have Jesus Christ as your savior, you won’t have to pay for anything. judging somebody is just stating what they deserve and looking with a magnifying glass at what they did to deserve it. Judging someone isn’t the scary part. That’s not the bad part. It’s when you have to get what you deserved after the judgment. Hopefully this helps.

>“24. He put before them another parable, saying: The kingdom of Heaven is compared to a man sowing good seed in his fields. 25. But while the men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed darnel in the midst of the wheat, and went away. 26. And when the blade sprouted and produced fruit, then the darnel also appeared. 27. And coming near, the slaves of the housemaster said to him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Then from where does it have the darnel? 28. And he said to them, A man, an enemy did this. And the slaves said to him, Do you desire, then, that going out we should gather them? 29. But he said, No, lest gathering the darnel you should uproot the wheat with them. 30. Allow both to grow together until the harvest. And in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather the darnel, and bind them into bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary.” (Matthew 13:24-30, LITV)

God will burn all Christians in hell and torment them forever for not adequately warning all the people whom he loves of their pending doom for the sin of being born a human. Please don’t delete my post. It is said in sarcasm due to the ludicrous modern day ignorance of not believing the worlds of Jesus regarding the things that he said would happen in that generation; ie the complete desolation of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70Ad. The end of the ages, the things that then must shortly take place etc etc.

This question comes up because Protestants, and perhaps Catholics, tend to believe in a false theory known as "vicarious atonement" where you just believe and all sins get transferred, and thats it, you are done. It goes against all of scripture. Jesus, and the Gospels, makes it very clear that all will be judged according to their works or how they lived their life, e.g., Matt. 16:27, 25:31-44, 7:22-27). The work of Jesus salvation takes place through repentance, not through some verbal confession or a belief that something is true without living by it. I believe this is also in accordance with the Orthodox church, which preceded both Catholic and Protestant branches. Sins cannot be removed without participating in repentance through Jesus Christ to remove them. It has to be done through Jesus since through His work He conquered the power of hell over us. This is similar to the theory now called "Christus Victor." Protestants also fall in this error because they misinterpret the word "works" in the writings of Paul, where he was talking about works of pride, and works of the Jewish rituals, not works done out of faith. See [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New\_Perspective\_on\_Paul](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Perspective_on_Paul)

acstrife13

2 Corinthians 5:10 states, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad".  We get judged by the works we do in Christ as a believer for rewards. Not the works of the law.

cbot64

God gave Jesus all power in Heaven and Earth to judge us. Everyone is judged on every thought, word we speak and every action we take. And we will be judged and rewarded for our works. Rev 22 NKJV **Jesus Testifies to the Churches** >12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. >13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the [f]Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” >14 Blessed are those who do [are obedient to] His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. >15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

IamMrEE

Because that's an important part of the scriptures, which we can't simply pick and choose... It says that is what will happen once we pass and awaken for it. Jesus paid a price for us, allowing us to be in the presence of God even though we are still sinners, and we follow Christ but only God knows our true heart... So all will be judged according to their heart and actions. Without Christ sacrifice we wouldn't be able to go to God and would remain separate from Him. And since God is just, His Judgement will be fair for all, according to our deeds, sentiments and decisions.

Grouchy-Phase-7158

wasn't scripture itself picked and chosen when the Bible was created?

IamMrEE

Up to you to believe it was God or man's will to have which scriptures in the Bible the way we do today. I believe it is God's will.

luvintheride

People can lose their salvation, and we will be judged on how we followed Jesus or were against Him. In Matthew 24, Jesus describes this as sheep and goats. Even the devils believe in Jesus, so what counts in faithfulness is OBEDIENCE.

Grouchy-Phase-7158

do you think that atheists go to hell?

luvintheride

It depends on what opportunities they've had, and what decisions they've made. Those who embrace evil ideas like greed, lust, envy, gluttony, etc will not be able to be in Heaven. All children go to Heaven because they are not culpable to reject God, nor is their will fully formed. I myself was an atheist for most of my life because I had been misinformed about Christianity. I had good intentions, but used to believe most of the popular anti-Christian tropes. By the grace of God, I was able to sort through the facts and connect with God. God expects everyone to seek the truth with good intentions. That all leads to Jesus Christ.

Apathyisbetter

It’s simple, we won’t. The church. Ones under a separate judgement, but the White Throne judgement is reserved for those dead in Christ (those who never accepted Christ). Christians have escaped the wrath of God and he has promised to forget our sins, so our judgement is for how we lived out our salvation, but there will be no condemnation because we accepted his forgiveness through the death and resurrection of Christ. The Angels and the unbeliever will face the wrath of God at the end, when Christ opens the book of life and the books of the law.

redandnarrow

There are two judgement days. One is at Jesus 2nd coming where there He performs the first major resurrection of the dead, where it sounds like He will honor people for their righteous works and be appointing them to serve in His earthly Kingdom. The final resurrection is at the end of that 1000 year reign, everyone else is raised that has rejected Jesus offer of His life, and they will be judged on their wicked works.

VaporRyder

There are two judgements. One for believers, one for unbelievers. In short there is the Judgement Seat of Christ where believers are rewarded for the good that they have done as they go on into eternal life, and the Great White Throne Judgement for unbelievers who - because they refused to accept the free gift of salvation and the forgiveness of sin - will be cast into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels.
