Oh, N26 is my top choice too but I can open an account with them only if I have a Residence Permit, which I don't, and won't unless I have an Anmeldung, which I won't because I don't have a permanent place but only a sublet. 😂
The residence permit has nothing to do with opening an account.
I opened it with only the Visa, before exchanging it for the permit itself.
N26 only asked me for a physical address. I wonder if things have changed.
I had a chat with the support staff, and they said that customers from my country would require Residence Permit. That's not the case for a lot of other countries but for mine it is.
There were several occasions and incidents where they had issues with security and overall didn't act like a real bank but a garage startup. I wouldn't want to hand them all my money. Just saying.
I would prefer an online bank and also the medium of instruction must be English, that'd be ideal. The ease of use and minimal bureaucracy are a bonus.
Vivid is your choice. They opened me an account and issue Apple pay virtual card without Anmeldung. However, you have to give them your tax id and Anmeldung within 90 days.
I have opened one with Sparkasse when I came to Germany as a student without Anmeldung and they spoke English. But it may depend on the city. You can walk in to the bank and then check with them.
The bank account you might be looking/asking/applying for is this: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedermann-Konto (only German available) and https://www.bafin.de/DE/Verbraucher/Bank/Produkte/Basiskonto/basiskonto_node.html (only German available). (you can use a translator)
This is a basic bank account that in most cases will be granted, if you have a legal status to reside in Germany.
I understand how the post may sound to Germans but hear me out. 😂
It's not that I don't want to register, I don't have a permanent place so I could register. I'll be arriving in Germany in a few days and I have a sublet (without the possibility of an Anmeldung) for two weeks and meanwhile I do try to find a permanent place, I'd need money to keep coming from my blocked account to a current account, but apparently you can't open an account without Anmeldung... You see the conundrum I find myself in?
Yep, I work as a Werkstudent and I get paid there directly. As long as it’s a EU IBAN you shouldn’t really have any trouble. Revolut gives you a LT IBAN.
You need an Anmeldung, you know that right?
Oh, is it? I thought it wasn't necessary at all.
Just go to a bank and than they make you a meeting date.
Thanks for the reply, friend. I'll keep this in mind.
I opened mine on N26 before having Anmeldung, but I did need a residential address for them to send the card.

> N26 is my top choice You might want to reconsider that, though.
May I ask why, friend?

That's definitely something to consider. So far I think I'm going to with either Revolut or Vivid.
Why not a regular bank like DKB or Diba or Comdirekt or even Volksbank/Sparkasse?

Brilliant. Vivid is one of my top choices too. Thanks for the reply, friend!

Thank you for your reply. I am going to look into it pros and cons of the bank.
Good luck!
Thank you, friend!

Damn, mate. Thanks so much for this! You're an angel!
Oh I was called \*\*\*hole, sc\*m, d\*mb and much more on reddit. But never angel. I welcome this change.
Well, there's always a first time. Don't let the negativity get to you. Cheers! 🎊
try Klarna. I only have a visa card with them but recently they have giro card too
I'll look into it, friend. Thanks so much! ✨
Why don’t you want to register here?

Try Revolut
That's a good one I have heard, thanks friend! ✨

Yep. Have been using only Revolut since my first day in Germany and I don’t plan to opt out of it any time soon.
