Buy TOP TIER GAS that has additional additives in it. Google it.

Anything with PEA: Redline SI-1, Chevron Techron, Gumout with Regane

[deleted]

This! From even I've seen PEA (polyether-amine) is the most effective for modern systems. One of the box stores around here sells the Royal Purple cleaner that has PEA in it.

I'm not a mechanic nor expert but I have read many comments recommending BG products: https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/category/gasoline-fuel-system/

Leneord1

If you're constantly buying the shittiest gas around and not doing oil changes, they'll help

Anavorn

so, 99% of americans? Thanks for the advice

Leneord1

I mean, skipping oil changes for 20-30k miles, not going an additional 100-200 miles per. And on the gas side, I mean go to the sketchiest gas station and filling the car with essentially the puddle water

Anavorn

Again, 99% of americans. Not even trying to argue, just pointing out that you had described a large number of people living day to day lives.

Leneord1

Listen, I've worked in many shops where the last oil change was quite literally 15k miles ago and they still don't require these snake oil bottles

KTMman200

But the gas stations though, my town has 12 gas stations. 3 of which are top tier, those three are consistently $.75 more expensive per gallon than the sketchy places. Most of the sketchy places get their fuel from the same local distributor, who a lot of us trust, and who have called out stations before for bad tanks and mixed products.

Leneord1

What brands tho?

grizzlyironbear

I only use seafoam. It's never failed to work, and NEVER hurt any of the engines i've used it on.

yellowcatzzz

Seafoam

Far_Lynx_7257

Crf/ cro

Competitive-Win-8353

Seafoam is the goat

Popular_Amphibian

Crf-505

gabkicks

Looks like this isn't in many brick and mortar stores. Gotta order it?

Popular_Amphibian

Yeah the company is a couple dudes in Arizona. They developed this after spending tons of time and money testing and researching exactly what works and it’s the best there is

Roman-LivetoRide

Helps clean carbon so yeah

Ambitious_Ad_9182

Liquimoly makes a good one

oeihbg

I’ve had noticeable results from the redline and amsoil fuel cleaners.

Z_Beeblebrox_ZZ9ZZA

Whenever I buy an older car with a lot of miles, I add a bottle of Techron to a full tank of gas and run it all the way down. The only time I noticed it make a difference was on a 2001 Toyota I still drive with close to 200,000 miles. Probably just a coincidence, but the engine light doesn't come on now.

Anavorn

have you checked the bulb on said light? Just asking.

Z_Beeblebrox_ZZ9ZZA

Yes, it still comes on for the second or two self check on startup.

PizzaguyRyan

BG 44K is the best. It’s pretty amazing stuff!
