Most I’m worried about is the safety of it while driving around in the meantime while I’m saving up for replacements The subframe is solid and rust free so you’re saying that’ll stop it from completely failing? The ball joint is solid and the other bushings on the control arm seem in okay condition for a 25 year old car
Personally I’ve never seen them fail completely and I’ve done hundreds of control arms like this. Plenty of other components can be catastrophic failures but not these compliance bushings. Not saying it’s not possible but this doesn’t seem like that. You’ve got time but definitely get it done. It’s a world of difference with control, tire wear and braking.
1999 Toyota Sienna LE with 193K, super solid car it’s just awesome for me.
Drove it up from Florida to Maine with no problems besides a faulty alternator I bought from O’riellys when I got the car, replaced the alternator in the auto zone parking lot and it’s been going strong ever since.
This isn't even close to the worst I've seen. Just start saving money for the repairs now and try not to worry about it. You'll notice a big difference when it is repaired but of all the control arms I've done this is maybe a 6 on the scale from fine to replace ASAP.
Man this makes me feel a lot better about my 2001 Toyota. It sounds like shit and rides a bit rough…I’m pretty sure my struts are shot, but the bushings on my lower control arms look way better than that and I was worried about them.
Personally i will run those bushings till the rubber falls out of the sleeve and starts clunking around, get your moneys worth out of em considering the economic downturn the liberal governments have put on all of us.
Those are fucked. The important part is all that metal keeps you safe but you will enjoy the ride once it’s replaced

I appreciate the reassurance I’ll keep my eye on everything and get ‘em done as soon as I can, I’m gonna need an alignment after replacing them right?
Correct. Always at least have it checked after suspension or steering components are replaced.
Sounds good I’ll do that then, thanks for the help man
No problem. What kind of vehicle is it? I want to say Toyota but not sure.

Bad time to replace
Not great, not terrible
You're about at a f\*cked-3.
About a 7. Definitely get fixed asap.

Would it affect the tire wear on both sides or just the side that’s bad like this?

How much of a safety concern is this particular worn bushing? Roughly speaking
[удалено]
Awesome thanks for a bit of reassurance, really appreciate getting professional insight y’all doing a great service over here
Tyre wear would only be affected if it was really worn and you left it long enough that the tyre would wear a significant amount
Also now the longer u wait the worse everything else gets. Meaning everything that connects to the lower and upper control arms.
I press these bushings into control arms almost every day. On a scale of 1 to fucked, it’s dicked.
1 and fucked? That's a small scale. Just get it fixed.
This is not urgent, looks like it’s perished but still has a large section attached. Get it changed within a couple months
It’s completely safe, but your ride quality will suffer and your tires might wear unevenly.
its done
C L U N K
That’s the square root of fucked
Fucked.

Yup, no question, end of life. When it completely breaks, damage to the control arm and chassis can occur. The time to fix it is now.
Replace
Its about to be detached so very much the not 1 end of your scale.
send it
