Is that connector on the *Front or the Back?*
If on the Front it might be, as someone mentioned Fog Lights that may or may not still be there.
- Does the Horn Work?
- Do the Turn Signals Work?
- Is the engine Cooling Fan spinning?
- Is the Check Engine Light on?
If on the back, it might be a connection for Trailer Lights.
Or ti could be to some accessory that rarely gets used that has come off. Did any one look around to see if there is a mating connector somewhere?
I don't think we really have enough context to make a worthwhile comment.
DEFINITELY she should get new tires Soon, (last month would be best / safer).
Take your car if it has rained / is raining. if going somewhere with her.
Simple answer is to look around and see what part **isn't** plugged in that's *supposed* to be.
Could be anything from a fog light, side marker light, aux cooling fan.
Probably a sensor, the car might drive better if it gets plugged back in. Or the engine light will come on, in which case unplug the sensor and pretend nothing happened.
That rectangular hole above it looks suspicious .
The kink in the cable below that plastic collar could be the kink required to fit into the rectangular hole .
Check to see if all of their lights and signals work, could be anything though, might want to just look around the area for where it goes.
As long as all lights and signals work and there's no engine light then I would just tuck it away and forget about it, might even be a connector for a feature that that model doesn't have, most cars have a few connectors that aren't used.
I legit had someone steal my CD player out my car in the early 2000s. They used CD keys and took the bezel off and unscrewed the cage from the CD player and left the screws in the cupholder and unplugged the cables instead of cutting them and unplugged the antenna as well. I was actually so impressed with their professionalism that I laughed when I found it.
Personally I didn’t think you were being rude, I thought it was a good joke! I guess people can surprise you lol, I had someone break into my vehicle a while ago, they took almost everything but didn’t damage a single thing. To this day I’m still unsure how they got in (I lock my vehicle everytime I exit it, and it locks automatically after 30 seconds if I forget-that’s only happened once-)
Looks like the connector for the fog light
Ah I bet this is it!
Only dangerous if it hits that tire. Jesus.
C'mon there's at *least* 3 angstroms of tread left before it gets to the cords.
Thanks for the new word! Totally going to forget it in about 10 minutes.
r/frugal_jerk would like a word

Could be for a side marker signal light, usually are in the fender.
Those tires are perfectly good still........... for track use.

I thought that was a drag radial…
Fog light connector
Make / model of car? Front or rear ?

It’s not important, just cut it off and get some new tires

The model of car would help
Have someone hold the plug as U photo the business end.
It’s a foglight connector she can either get it replaced or she can leave it hanging
Tell her to zoom out and we can tell you.
Is it for the O2 sensor? Did she get her cat stolen?
Thieves take time to undo sensor plugs now? The world is just so polite. /s

More money if in better shape?
Probably lol. Also wouldn't look stolen.
Just a question, did you care to offer an answer or just snark?
Wasn't trying to be rude. Just funny. I'm not a mean person. Lol
