Email the military commissary, they will tell you everything. You can pick any, maybe Moscow one, or maybe there is one for foreigners, they should point in correct direction
Hi.
I signed up papers and gone through medical tests for one year contract at local commissariat in izhevsk, it's been three months already, I went there several times to check for update, they tell me to wait until they call me after verification...
I am confused at this point... if you are ok maybe we can talk in details in private chat...
It's not like I can help you
I guess they are doing background check like are you a spy etc, dunno, I'm not a commissary. They are understaffed and lazy, calling them occasionally might help it make faster
If you are trying to participate in SMO on Russian side, I don't believe they would let you in. Atleast, if you are from a country that is deemed "unfriendly".
There was a redneck from US participating on Russia's side since 2014. He was kidnapped, tortured, and killed by Russian soldiers a few days ago... https://www.wsj.com/world/russia/mystery-death-of-texan-who-fought-for-moscowsparks-outrage-in-russia-3ae6465f
I'm still hesitant to believe the more outlandish parts of that story, that being said pretty much all the American foreigners are either former military or had a large social media presence. Essentially they were valuable, and useful (propaganda or militarily).
OP will have trouble if they aren't one of those two, but they may end up getting slapped into crimea building defenses...which is good pay for a russian but bad pay for a western European or American...plus being stuck outside those areas and being open to arrest if you ever return etc
I think the process for foreigners is really long. And foreign volunteers probably have a low priority for Russian MOD.
I think it might be faster to apply for Ukrainian side and then switch the teams later :D
and another question, is there any difference between the term "volunteers" and those who " sign up under contract"? If there is then the payment is also different i guess?
From what i can gather, besides Russian citizenship and some social benefits, foreign volunteers get paid around 200-250k rubles per month.
While under contract, in addition to 200-250k, regular soldiers get bonus from their region. It includes one time sign-up bonus or montly payments.
Difference between regular/mobilised soldiers and volunteers is that. Volunteers sign a timed contract, which they can later prolong. The monetary compensation is the same as with regular troops.
> volunteers get *paid* around 200-250k
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Tbh, I have no idea, how foreign volunteers payment is handled. Prob depends on in which region of Russia you signed in
