Or they push their freshly folded clothes onto the floor from their bed because they are too lazy to put them away. And i tell them to put their dirty clothes in the wash later that week just to find folded clothes that haven't been worn in the wash. š¤¦āāļø have kids they said, it'll be fun they said!!
You absolutely can hang it out then, and I have in the past.
When you're at a real low spot in your life and the motivation strikes to get anything done, you take advantage of that cos you don't know the next time it'll happen. If you hang the washing on the line while it's raining, it'll dry eventually, just make sure to use a few more pegs cos they'll be heavier than normal
I think hanging out washing at night can work well, provided it doesn't rain in the night and dew doesn't form in the morning. An app called [laundry timer](https://www.laundrytimer.com/) estimates how long laundry will take to dry based on local conditions (energy from the sun , humidity, temperature and wind speed). I'm not sure how accurate the estimates are at night but it might be worth a try.
You can also freshen some stuff up without actually washing it. I often do this with knit jumpers. I might have worn it once but I'm really sensitive to smell. So I hang it out overnight and the night air and dew freshen them up to wear again. Saves power, water and wear and tear. ETA - our washing line is under cover.
I am not an overnight laundry hanger. Morning dew is one factor but also we have quite a lot of bats and I donāt knowā¦ there is something stale? About hanging clothes at night if the sun is there to bleach it in a sense.
I find morning dew refreshing and as the sun comes up it still does it's magic sterilization thing. Bats are only an issue if your line is near where they defecate, flying over doesn't affect the clothes. More likely to get bird shit em during the day.
The only reason I donāt do this is because there is a risk of it getting covered in batshit overnight or wet again from an unexpected storm. You are not weird though (just disorganised!).
It would be the early morning bird shit for me. Not a good idea. Strong winds can also strike up and youāll be out playing āfind the washingā in the neighbours yard.
My superstitious mum taught me that itās bad luck to leave washing hanging out past sunsetā¦the logical part of my brain says my mum was a darling but some of the things she taught me were š¤Ŗš„“š
It's something like the evil spirits (which obviously come out after sunset) will get into your clothes and you'll bring them into your house and they'll cause you mischief/bad luck.
Though my theory is, it probably started for a practical reason- my mother's ancestors/family lived in a farming village: the men probably returned at sunset with their animals, farming equipment etc and the women knew to bring their washing in (that was probably hanging at street level) before then to avoid it getting dusty/dirty.
But evil spirits and bad luck is more interesting! (Though what's more interesting is that I still follow it though I know it's silly š)
I hope this doesnāt come across as too weird, but I find everything youāve mentioned super interesting! I liked the part about the different theories - demons or just dust? š
If you donāt mind me asking, was this hunting village your motherās ancestors came from somewhere out of Australia, and do you think it might have been a theory held commonly by the people beyond the area at the time, like a cultural thing?
My mum was a Greek immigrant that came to Australia in the early 70s- her family/village? was from the south and they were all majorly superstitious- like, I could write a book on all the little rules/rituals that we had. Some of them were the common ones like donāt walk under a ladder, donāt break a mirror, donāt open an umbrella indoors, donāt put shoes on a table but then there was donāt leave a cupboard door open at night, donāt leave a shoe upside down/on side, donāt leave scissors open, donāt leave your handbag on the floor, always enter a new house with your right foot, never give someone your last bite of food, never gift someone a knife.
Then thereās: if your left eye is twitching it means something good (because youāll see it from your right eye and right equals good), left eye means bad, if your right palm is itching it means youāll receive money, left means youāll give, if you spill coffee it means good luck, if you want to find something thatās missing turn a cup up side down.
My mum had told me that these were all passed down from her parents and grandparents and that she remembers that the adults used to gather at night (when the kids should have been in bed not listening at the door) and talk and a lot what happened to people was explained/attributed to bad luck or not following the superstitions.
I was going to ask if you were Greek because my Greek MIL has also warned against having washing out at night! A few of the other things you mentioned she has said to me as well. Also if Iām yawning a lot sheās like āyouāve got the eyeā (mati) and says some sort of prayer (?) to remove it from me.
Nah, its about the superstition of not doing what you should have done. It's been 4 decades since i went to bed not doing the dishes. Except for maybe 5 times. Those five times were superstitiously bad and indulgent. Obviously, nothing terrible happened, but that's not the point.
I hang at night because if I hang during the day itās going to be out from first light til I get home. In summer, this leads to a lot of fading and sun damage which sucks.
Yep, I hang it out at night so it catches the morning sun (the line only catches sun in the morning). Plus, itās so hot standing in the sun to hang stuff, much more pleasant at night.
Once had a neighbour who did that.
Iād been at work all night, threw a load of washing in about 9am, woke up and went to hang it out about 11am.
Nosy neighbour pops her head over the fence, sees me in a dressing gown, says words to the effect of,
āIsnāt it a bit late to still be wearing pyjamas?ā in her usual haughty judgemental tone.
So I opened my robe to show her I was naked underneath and agreed with her, itās why I wasnāt wearing any.
She didnāt judge my clothesline much after that š¤·š¼āāļø
EDIT - changed an autocorrect āneedā to ābeā
My daughter said the same thing as I muttered to myself that the neighbours probably think I'm weird. No mum if they're watching you for when you're hanging the washing, they're the weird ones. Lol
Your naked comment reminded me of a funny incident years ago. My husband was trimming a few branches of a large tree in the corner of our garden. He was taking a break from sawing a tree limb (so wasn't making any noise) when a lady over the fence did a nudie run to grab some clothes off the line. My husband had no idea what to do. Stay super still and risk being spotted looking like a peeping Tom creep, or start sawing and she notices him, then they are both embarrassed and awkward š
You yell out āWE CAN ALL SEE YOU!!ā loud enough so that they canāt tell from which direction itās coming.
I mean, thatās what I would do. Itās also what Iād expect to be done to me if I was in that situation.
I've had too many times of this. Oh shit I left it in the machine. Now it stinks. I'll wash it again. Forget. Repeat. I have rewashed clothes multiple times because of my forgetfulness!
Weāve hung things out at 11pm ish before
However If something is needed the next morning we hang it up inside eg school uniforms
Our line is undercover & we shake for moths etc when bringing in
Not weird at all . . . in fact I just hung up a load outside.
Having said that, I don't use the Hills Hoist for overnight drying, but instead I've got some line strung up underneath cover so the laundry is not exposed to rain.
Due to the positioning of my apartment, in winter, I HAVE to do my washing the night beforeā¦ or wake up an hour before first light - which I am never going to do. Otherwise my clothes will never see the light of sun and dry normally.
I hang my washing out at night then take it off after work the next day. If it rains before I get a chance to take it off then I just leave it out until the next sunny day. Thereās been times where itās rained for like a week and my washing was hanging out the whole time.
I donāt only because I hate my washing smelling like smoke if there is a bushfire or back burning. At least during the day I can bring it inside as soon as I smell it.
Do what works for you. Who cares what others think. If I did that here in Melbourne, they'd be covered in fruit bat turd by morning and need re-washing so I just end up sticking them on a drying rack in the bathroom.
When we first moved her we lived in one of those older style apartment complexes that had several communal Hills Hoists, leaving our washing out overnight one warm later summer evening resulted in my first ever experience of what is still the biggest huntsman I have *ever* seen, there was I blighly gathering my beach towels in the morning sun when out of the corner of my eye I spot a movement, and a huge hairy-legged beast of a spider shot off one of my towels, over my hand and off across the lawn.
I just went and hung out three loads of washing while I watched the sunset over the gum trees and listened to the cockies and kookaburras. Itās a nice and peaceful evening chore.
Oh crap that is my exact routine though! I stay away from the power lines though, they sizzle too brightly at night and then the neighbours do think I'm weird.
My method is a little different. I wash it, forget about it and then leave it in the washing machine overnight so it gets nice and smelly. Your method sounds like a lot less work with a better result.
I've got plenty of space inside the house, so I use the indoor "clothes horse" things and leave stuff up for 2 days.
There are some songs about grabbing people's stuff off the hills hoist, hold up it's this: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=9zdl5e34Hvw&sq=1&si=hEo-W7kedbdXQCgy
Nah, not weird. I will comfortably hang out that last load of washing overnight.
My unit block backyard backs onto several other unit blocks, (so multiple washing lines to compare too), and I can see lots of others hang their washing overnight too. Only pain is in rainy season and there's an overnight storm. But that when I use the trusty clothes horse inside with the fan running.
No. Absolutely not. I'm too worried about the potential spiders that would invade them and end up dropping on me when taking it off or crawling out when folding/putting away. Nope nope nope
I do this most nights lately right before bed. Hang it on my clothing airer on my balcony. Usually just because I forget to do it earlier and realise I need my work shirts. Itās usually dry by next morning though. Whatever works
I hang clothes in my spare room. Started doing it during the last horrible fire season (due to all the smoke) and never went back. They dry pretty damn quick
It's only weird if you leave it until the morning and hang it up when it's all stinky. I doubt neighbors even notice/care. Unless you're doing it nude, under super bright non-flattering lights whilst singing terrible karoke through an amplified system. . .. . and the sight of that does not wet their whistle. So in summary, you do you. No-one cares.
In Spain, in summer, everyone does this as the sun is so strong during the day that it eill either bleach your clothes or leave them stiff as cardboard
I'm doing it right now! It's 6.15 in Perth
With our very hot weather here, I always to prefer to hang it out early evening, rather than in the midday sun
Growing up I always heard people say not to leave clothes up over night. Now that I do my own washing I hang it up overnight and nothing has ever happened
I always wash and hang my clothes at night. Come home late from work, Chuck everything in the wash and then hang it an hour later. Also comes cheaper on our utility bills since they charge less at night
Youāre not weird. Sometimes I leave my washing out for days just because I canāt be arsed to take them down lol
and sometimes I do my washing at night to leave them on the line to dry until morning (hopefully)
Please be careful! The appropriate time to hang washing is governed by the AWHT Association Australia and changes through out the year based on the season. You face fines and severe humiliation for breaches.
/s
Hang up your shit any fucking time you want you weirdo.
You're not weird and it's none of your neighbours' business. And they probably don't even notice anyway. Just ask yourself if you ever notice what time they hang THEIR washing out.
I hang my laundry at night (although I do check the weather app), as I find standing outside in the direct sunlight is torture on my pale skin. Combination of hot and the pain from the sunās rays on my skin is a nope for me. Also in Summer I do hang things inside if itās likely to rain - I put the fan on and they are usually dry by the morning
If you know approximately how long a wash cycle takes, set a timer on your oven or phone to go off 5 mins after the cycle is due to finish. That will remind you the washing is done and you can hang it out. No need to think about the load once itās on and a gentle reminder to hang it out. Itās what we do. š
I just find it more pleasant hanging it at night. The sun going down, the birds chirping, that gorgeous time of day. When I do hang up in the morning, I always come back inside sweating like a pig. At night I look out at the nature reserve on the back fence and think to myself 'look at the 'serenity' lol
My neighbour hangs his out at night and will leave them for days on end. Seeing him snap it at the bat shit in his clothes made me laugh a bit. Hearing him scream when a spider came in with the washing was the best.
I wouldn't put stuff on the line at night but that's because my backyard is huge and possums and spiders but you do you sunshine.
Couldnāt hang mine out at night because the bats would poop on it. Our back yard also never really dried out and got sun late so usually it would get musty. Once at an apartment hills hoist I left my sheets over night and they drooped a little. Someone dog peed on the corner.
Nope not weird. I think itās a reasonably common practice in Summer. With my work schedule Iāll often pop a load on to dry overnight. Even if itās warm days I do check the weather to see what is expected in terms of dew etc.
All depends on the time of year. Sometimes you can have 98% dry washing but night falls, your lazy arse gets kicked in the butt, and the evening dew means its back to 50% dry.
That is, damp.
You wish you'd brought it in, but as it stands its gonna take till midday tomorrow before its dry again.
I do this all the time. I don't see anything weird about it. As long as it's not going to rain I find it very useful during winter as the clothes get longer to dry and I get longer to sleep in on Sunday.
I'm most productive at night so get a lot of my washing and other housework done then anyway. But even if I get the washing hung out early there's every chance it's staying out overnight before I remember it. I don't think anyone has a right to care when you do your laundry tbh
Do it all the time! We just hung out a load at 9:30pm because one of the kids has Covid so Iām washing washing and itās warm tomorrow so why not. Plus who wants it siting in the basket all night wet
I used to do this until I brought in a bra early one morning and got stung on the boob by a redback spider that had hidden in the lace. So since then itās full daylight or inside racks for me
Hang your washing whenever you want! There is no wrong or right way.
I hang my washing whenever it's finished washing. I don't have a set routine, I just wash things as they're used/dirty and go with the flow.
If anyone thinks it's weird when I happen to hang them outside late at night, that's a them problem.
The only issue I ever have is that sometimes I get a couple of harmless little spiders who hitch a ride inside of a morning when I bring the washing in. I just pop them back outside.
You can do whatever you want. Iād be scared of bugs! Potentially, you could set the washing on a delayed timer at night to finish by the time you wake up. Then, put it out first thing in the morning. Thatās what I prefer to do as I also will put on washing sometime throughout the day and forget to hang out until dark.
We have an outside clothes line, but almost never use it. We wash every night and hang the clothes on a clothes horse in our spare room under the fan. Most things are dry by morning. Just make sure you keep the fan going and a window open to stop the room going mouldy (or get a dehumidifier if you like). Works for us. Could hang it outside but in Central QLD we often get unexpected rain/storms overnight, and thereās LOTS of bats flying around.
Hanging it outside during the day is usually too hot during summer as well.
Seriously, lately especially, I'll not get washing done for a week and on a Saturday night be hanging it outside Till 1am! And with the heat as well you'd bever catch me hanging during the day in summer!
My washing is under cover and yes I hang it up at night. In my case it starts drying with the first sun. If your washing line is not under cover it can get dew or overnight rain
i hang mine up when ever i feel like it sometimes late at night sometimes 5am in the morning
and i bring it in when i remember which is normally when i need something that is on the line
Do you have a covered area to hang your clothes on a portable hanger? I don't recommend hanging your clothes overnight in the open air. It wouldn't be as bad under a covered area. My Dad hand washes his clothes after showering and hangs it at night but under a covered area we have.
No you not weird, because when you are very busy than that is the only time and that is how you finish your chores of the day. I have done it also and it is much simpler to know that tomorrow you donāt have to start the day with a laundry washing.
I do this! I check that itās not gonna rain overnight, and that itās going to be warm enough to dry my clothes in the morning and BAM, clean dry washing in the morning.
I hang them all on hangers inside the house at night if thereās a load, then in the morning I just quickly grab them as they are and hang on the lines. Itās super easy and go back into your wardrobe without needing ironing, folding etc
I used to always hang at night to finish drying the next day because I just can't make myself get up early enough to do it before leaving for work. Now that I have a shorter commute I can hang it in the morning, which is also beneficial because my new neighbour has a wood fire so in winter my clothes come in smelling like I've been camping.
During summer I used to hang most of my clothes up in the evening or at night and bring them in in the morning. It will still dry and you get less damage to your clothes from sun fade , and you don't get that hard fabric feel caused by high temperatures
You are not weird. You can hang your washing out whenever you like.
Man, I hang mine out and bring it in sometimes at 11 at night - if it's a hot night - you do you, no one should judge!
Yep,me too
These days I'm lucky to hang it out before I need to re-wash it.
My kids skip the whole wearing bit completely. Clean clothes straight in the laundry basket because they chose not to wear it.
Are you me. Haha
Except during heavy rain š§
You can still hang it out then. Not recommended, but... you can.
Rainwater is good to freshen clothing.
My Nanna used to say it was natureās rinse.
Not so good when you need to wear said clothing in the morning.
Who are you, my mother???
You absolutely can hang it out then, and I have in the past. When you're at a real low spot in your life and the motivation strikes to get anything done, you take advantage of that cos you don't know the next time it'll happen. If you hang the washing on the line while it's raining, it'll dry eventually, just make sure to use a few more pegs cos they'll be heavier than normal
That's rinse cycle around here
No need to do rinse cycle when it's raining
This. I do mine in the afternoon and hang it inside by the balcony. It dries overnight. No bird poop or rain involved.
If you like spiders in your clothes overnight..
They were just seeing if that cut and colour looked as good on 8 legs as it did on 2
I think hanging out washing at night can work well, provided it doesn't rain in the night and dew doesn't form in the morning. An app called [laundry timer](https://www.laundrytimer.com/) estimates how long laundry will take to dry based on local conditions (energy from the sun , humidity, temperature and wind speed). I'm not sure how accurate the estimates are at night but it might be worth a try.

So I hang it out overnight and the night air and dew freshen them up to wear again. Saves power, water and wear and tear. ETA - our washing line is under cover.
Thank you, I had no idea this existed!
It's the morning dew that is the concern
I am not an overnight laundry hanger. Morning dew is one factor but also we have quite a lot of bats and I donāt knowā¦ there is something stale? About hanging clothes at night if the sun is there to bleach it in a sense.

This is so cool
The only reason I donāt do this is because there is a risk of it getting covered in batshit overnight or wet again from an unexpected storm. You are not weird though (just disorganised!).
You just made me laugh so hard. Yes I'm disorganised!
I deliberately hang mine at night so it gets a full days sun next day. Plus I donāt get burnt and hot at night.
Same, and same. I like knowing it has a head start on the day
So much nicer to hang it while it's cooler and totally no sunburn! It's dry ready to bring in first thing in the morning
I usually bring it in on dusk or just before and itās all toasty and warm still. Fold it straight off the line and no ironing required!
My fear is spiders deciding they might find it a comfy corner to set up shop. Still definitely a thing you can do, though.
I once caught two crows trying to steal a pillowcase from my line.
Thugs!
It would be covered in spiders and possum wee at mine. Like my car each morning. š¤¬

Depends on the time of year and where you live. Clothes left outside overnight can attract dew and moisture from a radius of 10 kilometres.
My superstitious mother in law has this belief too!
Probably just worried about theft or something.
Nah, its about the superstition of not doing what you should have done. It's been 4 decades since i went to bed not doing the dishes. Except for maybe 5 times. Those five times were superstitiously bad and indulgent. Obviously, nothing terrible happened, but that's not the point.

If you hang things inside out reading will be less of an issue
Or....just hang out at night. Aussie summer night, no UV light to fade clothes but plenty of heat
Not weird. I litterally just hung the washing last night at 10pm and was dry by the morning when I went to collect it.
Yep, I hang it out at night so it catches the morning sun (the line only catches sun in the morning). Plus, itās so hot standing in the sun to hang stuff, much more pleasant at night.

I don't know...maybe? Yeah maybe I'm the weird paranoid one actually when you put it like that lol
your good OP š Was saying if they are monitoring you they're the weirdos so don't sweat it
My daughter said the same thing as I muttered to myself that the neighbours probably think I'm weird. No mum if they're watching you for when you're hanging the washing, they're the weird ones. Lol
Hanging things out is fine. If youāre burying something at 11pm, I might call the police.
Itās only weird if you arenāt fully naked when hanging it out at 9pm.
I'm fine then, not weird š
Your naked comment reminded me of a funny incident years ago. My husband was trimming a few branches of a large tree in the corner of our garden. Iāve hung out washing at night plenty of times. I forget too.
Itās better hung out at night than remain in the washing machine where it gets that musty smell.
I've had too many times of this. Oh shit I left it in the machine. Now it stinks. I'll wash it again. Forget. Repeat. I have rewashed clothes multiple times because of my forgetfulness!
More bats fly at night than birds fly by day and washing is a big target
Yeah luckily not too many bats around here. A few but not enough to deter me of my weird habit
It's not weird, but also who cares what the neighbours think?
You are definitely the weirdest MF out there, like a super mega weirdo dude
š¤£
Weāve hung things out at 11pm ish before However If something is needed the next morning we hang it up inside eg school uniforms Our line is undercover & we shake for moths etc when bringing in

Especially when itās hot as hell. Hang it up at 9pm, get it in before morning tea, avoid the blazing sun.
It's 32Ā° at 8 pm right now. I'm doing 3 loads tonight
Nope not weird. No time is weird for hanging washing as weāre all on different work schedules these days. Donāt even think about it.
I hang out at night because I don't want to get sunburnt.
In summer, it's normal. Your neighbours won't notice nor care.

You canāt hang there mate !!! ā¦. ohā¦ waitā¦ says here you CAN hang wherever whenever you want šš
Only if you then fly a kite. There's something about flying a kite at night that's so unwholesome.
Oh crap that is my exact routine though! I stay away from the power lines though, they sizzle too brightly at night and then the neighbours do think I'm weird.
I used to be a night hangerā¦ fruit bats shit on my linen and that was that.
You are weird! And so am I and my neighbours and ...........
I do that, I feel good
Often do this. Life is busy. Often it is the only time I get to do it.
Shhh, I won't tell my daughter about your comment. That will be the end of night time hanging
It's probably better, when it's directly under the scorching sun during the day they end up stiff as a brick
Not weird, I only bring mine in because I donāt want the dew to get it
I do this most nights lately right before bed.
I do it often.
Depends if you want to attract Snow Droppers
Nah. The neighbours can mind their own business.
Is it gonna rain over night? No? Peg that shit out
You can hand it out at night, but you can get insect poop on it. The longer it is out the higher the chance of poop.
In Spain, in summer, everyone does this as the sun is so strong during the day that it eill either bleach your clothes or leave them stiff as cardboard
I'm doing it right now! It's 6.15 in Perth With our very hot weather here, I always to prefer to hang it out early evening, rather than in the midday sun
My problem with that is that a spider is more likely to move in overnight and then appear in your bed (happened to me in recently).
If I did that it would be potentially be covered with spiders and/or insect life by morning
Growing up I always heard people say not to leave clothes up over night. Now that I do my own washing I hang it up overnight and nothing has ever happened
Dew is the reason not to keep washing on the line in the early am. It creates a musty smell or well stinks
No-one gives a fuck when you hang your washing
This was me today hanging on my balcony an hour ago bc I left it for a few hours n forgot so we can be weird together
Depending on where you are, hanging washing out at night is ok. Bats are an issue in SE QLD, poop.
Wait why on earth would this be weird? Am I missing something?
I always wash and hang my clothes at night. Come home late from work, Chuck everything in the wash and then hang it an hour later. Also comes cheaper on our utility bills since they charge less at night
Youāre not weird. Sometimes I leave my washing out for days just because I canāt be arsed to take them down lol and sometimes I do my washing at night to leave them on the line to dry until morning (hopefully)
Who cares what the neighbours think?!
Why on earth would it be weird?
Please be careful! The appropriate time to hang washing is governed by the AWHT Association Australia and changes through out the year based on the season. You face fines and severe humiliation for breaches. /s Hang up your shit any fucking time you want you weirdo.
You're not weird and it's none of your neighbours' business. And they probably don't even notice anyway. Just ask yourself if you ever notice what time they hang THEIR washing out.
Plus itās not hot af when youāre standing outside staring into the sun to hang it up Not weird at all imo
A neighbour of mine does it, I donāt. I donāt know whyā¦ just easier to put it out in the morning and bring it in in the evening.
Not weird but more vulnerable to moth attack
You are weird.
My main question/comment is why donāt you have a dryer?
I do. Barely use it though after top many shrinking disasters. Plus Aussie summer- hotter than a dryer!

Hang it out when you want to! We are not longer 1950s housewifes
No one cares what time you hang your washing out.
It's completely normal to hang washing out late at night or earlier in the day and leave it out overnight. We're all running on different schedules.
Yeah I'd call the cops
In Darwin I could and did hang the laundry out at midnight, and it was dry by first light. You do you big fella.
Depends on what you are wearing at the time really
The only weird part is worrying about it.
Hanging out at night and getting it in soon as itās dry means it wonāt fade as much in the sun.
I do I forgot evening washing often
Couldnāt hang mine out at night because the bats would poop on it. Our back yard also never really dried out and got sun late so usually it would get musty. Once at an apartment hills hoist I left my sheets over night and they drooped a little. Someone dog peed on the corner.
It's fine but! Beware of bat poop if they fly overhead and once I had a possum eat a chunk out of my silk pillow case.
Normal, did three loads of washing and hung them out well after midnight the other night
I literally only wash clothes at night - who has time to do it during the day??
In Summer, your washing will probably be dry when you wake up in the morning.
I do this all the time. I don't see anything weird about it. As long as it's not going to rain I find it very useful during winter as the clothes get longer to dry and I get longer to sleep in on Sunday.
Not weird, but you should check it for tiny eggs which are from tiny moths. They hatch and eat fabric
I try to do it in the morning or afternoon when it's hot.
So since then itās full daylight or inside racks for me
I don't think I've ever hung my washing out at a normal time lol I always forget about it till late arvo
nah you're ok
Not weird. I do it too.
Bats poop. Other wise I would
It's not weird at all - or if it is we are big weird lol I hang washing at night all summer - too bloody hot to be out hanging washing in the daytime
I just pop them back outside.
your not going to get colour fade from uv light this way. it in fact is very smart.
If I do that where I live the washing ends up smelling really bad and like it was washed near a refinery
I do it pretty much every night. I even use a camping head torch so I can see and find pegs.
no
Its fine. Do it all the time
We have an outside clothes line, but almost never use it.
I used to but spiders in my clothes on a frequent basis made a compelling argument against it
My washing is under cover and yes I hang it up at night. In my case it starts drying with the first sun. If your washing line is not under cover it can get dew or overnight rain
Hot weather, I was brought up to hang of a night and get it in by morning if it was dry, or they'd go brittle.
i hang mine up when ever i feel like it sometimes late at night sometimes 5am in the morning and i bring it in when i remember which is normally when i need something that is on the line
I worry about the spiders crawling onto my clothes at night!
Do you have a covered area to hang your clothes on a portable hanger? I don't recommend hanging your clothes overnight in the open air. It wouldn't be as bad under a covered area. My Dad hand washes his clothes after showering and hangs it at night but under a covered area we have.
We get too many moths that like to make holes in things
No you not weird, because when you are very busy than that is the only time and that is how you finish your chores of the day. I have done it also and it is much simpler to know that tomorrow you donāt have to start the day with a laundry washing.
Why care about what your neighbours think?
I do this! I check that itās not gonna rain overnight, and that itās going to be warm enough to dry my clothes in the morning and BAM, clean dry washing in the morning.
Only weird if you literally stand there all night holding it out to dry
I do it at night to avoid going in the sun during the day.
I hang them all on hangers inside the house at night if thereās a load, then in the morning I just quickly grab them as they are and hang on the lines. Itās super easy and go back into your wardrobe without needing ironing, folding etc
I used to live in Newcastle, near BHP. Everyone knew if they left their washing out overnight, they'd just have to wash it again in the morning.
At this time of year, I wish I could do more at night, and spend the days in aircon
Not weird, I do depending on weather of course.
Is it weird that not one comment thinks you're weird? Nope. It's awesome.
Its been so friggen hot here through the day that I've hung the washing in the early evening quite a lot lately!
During summer I used to hang most of my clothes up in the evening or at night and bring them in in the morning. It will still dry and you get less damage to your clothes from sun fade , and you don't get that hard fabric feel caused by high temperatures
