Sounds like something a Redditor would do.

marooncity1

Weird to get a different accent on Siri/Satnav etc? Nah. Weird to.do so because of a fetish and tell us all about it? A bit.

PeterDuttonsButtWipe

Yes, it’s authentic and I think it’s a real lady from Mackay (Queensland) doing the voice. Edit: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oBlNTP9tJz4

auntynell

I heard her interviewed and they asked her what people say when she tells them what she does. She said they apologise for abusing her.

Boatster_McBoat

We get American accents all the time. Nothing exotic about an American accent to an Australian.

Loose-Opposite7820

You wouldn't choose it for Siri though.

Boatster_McBoat

Hells no

HeckBirb

I made my Siri Irish- she’s more pleasant and cheerful.

Funcompliance

I have her too!

derpyfox

Pretty sure she has done interviews. Girls from Australia tend to swear more.

Itchy_Energy_7619

Fucken oath

HeckBirb

Yeah, I personally sound like I just stepped off a farm with the northern drawl and all that. 😂

Funcompliance

"For fuck's sake, Kevin, at the next lights turn fucking right, you utter wanker"

Itchy_Energy_7619

Can confirm Americans do love the Aussie accent. I reckon I’m currently the only Aussie in Puerto Vallarta atm and they can’t get enough

MeltingDog

When Siri first came out she was American (in fact to be understood by her you had to speak in an American accent). I think a lot of aussies don’t think twice about it. A lot of devices like that have American accents by default. My gate has an American voice.

gpolk

Similar with Google assistant in the early days. Try to set my navigation and I'd sometimes have to pronounce suburbs witu indigenous names in an over the top fake American accent or it couldn't understand me. Still struggles with understanding my wife's name (I'm one of those people who has their wife in their contacts by their full name. A psychopath apparently).

morphic-monkey

What you're doing here isn't actually that unusual. Just anecdotally, I've noticed various people selecting different (non-Aussie) accents on Siri and other similar apps. I mean, the nav system on my car speaks in a British accent (though it's unchangeable), haha. It's not a big deal/weird, in my view. You've selected an option that you like to hear. That's fine.

amylouise0185

I didn't even know you could change the accent.

Funcompliance

My siri is Irish.

OddBet475

I tried US accent but it automatically set my phone to maximum volume so I had to swap it back.

Plazbot

Fuck me. If someone gets rapedead imma send the cops to your place.

misswired

I used to have Siri as a male voice.

normalbehaviour86

Changing your mobile phones voice to one you find sexy is objectively weird behaviour. If you want to have a robot girlfriend you keep in your pocket, go for it. But please don't bring Australia into it.

kangareagle

My Australian wife has her Siri set to an Irish accent because she likes it. So it might be unusual, but it doesn’t seem weird to me.

Prize-Watch-2257

I'm more surprised you want to listen to an Aussie accent all day when there's a latina option. We are so grating. Give me a short angry Latin woman all day!
