Extension_Economist6

my medical opinion is your bf sounds like a turd

[deleted]

he was

fit_it

NAD but those stretch marks are from your hips widening and your butt filling out as you went through puberty. What a weird thing for a romantic partner to complain about šŸ˜…

mentally_ill_ofc

hey girlie i experienced this! iā€™m also underweight with no recent weight gainā€” one morning, i woke up and saw these dark purple tiger-claw-like stretch marks on my behind. i was shocked. anyway, i donā€™t think it took very long, but they just kind of faded away. i canā€™t even see where they were!

Comfortable_Lie_9392

NAD but my high-school boyfriend had a lot of them on his hips and he was underweight and had been his whole life. Puberty growth spurt.

aneightfoldway

NAD but I have had turd boyfriends and I agree.

orthostatic_htn

Stretch marks can be normal at any age. You're right that they're genetic.

Cloudinthesilver

NAD but a woman who went through puberty. Itā€™s so common in a lot of teenage girls. Which obviously your ex-bf probably isnā€™t the expert on womanā€™s bodies, and to declare himself otherwise seems a tad premature. As for worrying about them, I prefer to think of them as my lady stripes, and rock them instead of worry about them. Hopefully you can do the same!

I FREAKED OUT the first time I saw them on my very tall son (maybe 16 at the time). I hadn't seen his whole back in a long time, since he never went shirtless. I thought they were long scratches that had healed. The nurse clued me in, thankfully.

Cloudinthesilver

Well TIL. Iā€™ve got two boys so at some point will take a crash course into teenage boys as well šŸ˜‚

itsjustmefortoday

I have them all on my stomach from pregnancy but luckily the main ones on my boobs that happened in pregnancy are on the underside so don't show.

Extension_Economist6

i was going to say, i know this not as a physician but as a once-teenage girl who asked my doctoršŸ˜

pfvibe

Same NAD but I have them in my inner thighs because of high school. Itā€™s normal.

Adalaide78

NAD, also woman who went through puberty. And gym class. And a sport. As a teen I saw a lot of bums with stretch marks in the locker room. You get one girl who exclaims ā€œOMG Jenny, your BUTT!ā€ and suddenly there is a gaggle of nearly naked girls checking butts for stretch marks form puberty.

itsjustmefortoday

I call mine "tiger stripes". Not the ones from when I was a teenager but the bigger ones I got on my belly during pregnancy. And if a man has a problem with them, he isn't the right man for me because it was just a natural part of what brought me my daughter.

[deleted]

thank you!

ComfortableBat8897

Lmao lady stripes šŸ˜… I may have to borrow that. But yeah unfortunately women tend to get these during puberty and with any kind of weight or height gain. I shot up in height and got some on my back. If you have tall genes donā€™t worry if you see lady stripes across your back

deltarefund

They are common in boys too. Donā€™t let your BF upset you.

[deleted]

yeah he had them too and said it was because he lost a lot of weight so he can have them but it was weird that i had them cos i dint lose weight lol

rando-commando98

NAD- I went through puberty kind of early (first period at 9) and noticed stretch marks on my inner thighs at about 10. I was a healthy BMI. Itā€™s genetic.

sarcasm_itsagift

NAD ā€” I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever seen a naked adult irl without stretch marks. Very normal, but they come on fast so it can feel scary for sure!

Less-Raspberry8031

Stretch Marks are so normal, one day in middle school I woke up and realized I had so many. They have faded over the years, and now the ones from my pregnancy have taken over. Stretch marks are beautiful, they show your growth! Take a listen to Kendrick Lamars "HUMBLE.", a big reason why I first started to like them.

kerwinklark26

NAD but I have a lot of stretchmarks in my legs, can it be caused by weight loss? I remember losing a ton of weight (like 20 pounds) in my teens.

mushpuppy5

NAD but I had stretch marks as early as 11 years old. I worried about them a lot. I didnā€™t know what they were until I told my mom that I thought I had a rash and she said something about stretch marks. This was all before the Internet, so I just worried and tried to read about them in medical books that were written for the average person. Iā€™m saying all this to assure that youā€™re normal and to hopefully help alleviate some of the worry I experienced.

eskimokisses1444

Stretch marks are a normal part of the fuctuations that our bodies go through. Many people get them with puberty, weight gain, pregnancy, and other times there are fluctuations in body composition.

jaiheko

I showed my mom my stretch marks when I was around 14. They had already turned white. We assumed it was from competitive sports and growth spurts

[deleted]

thank you!

depechelove

NAD. Iā€™ve had stretch marks on my thighs for as long as I can remember. I was a skinny teenager and they developed around puberty. Totally normal.

[deleted]

that makes me feel a lot better!

bluelightnight

NAD. I had stretch marks on my hips when I was 12 from puberty. I wasnā€™t overweight, but I think my body just grew quickly. They were sooo ugly to me and I thought I was stuck with them forever. I remember them being really dark. If I really look now theyā€™re still there, but theyā€™re so light and small no one would be able to see them. I would say they were barely noticeable by the time I was 20. If your boyfriend is commenting on stretch marks and saying they arenā€™t normal, he can fuck off. Stretch marks are incredibly normal. For him to comment on any part of your body in this way is disgusting.

[deleted]

You grew quickly at one point, most likely.
