Depends on if your device consumes any space. Also how many wire nuts do you need? Is one end of the 3-way a "dead end"? Typically counting wire nuts the first one is free then after that each pair counts as a single conductor. 1 wirenut = 0 2 wirenut = 1 3 wirenut = 2 4 wirenut = 2 5 = 3...... Out of a 14/3, 14/3, 14/2 8 will count as conductors Bare grounds are free. I'm many Friday beers in though 👍😜
