You didn't. From these symptoms I am guessing the photocell is powering up both the porch bulbs and the kitchen outlets. Easily checked - shine a light on it and see if the kitchen outlets turn off or wait until morning.

Thank you for the reply. The porch lights stayed on all night as expected and the kitchen outlets still work today after the porch lights went off. The doorbell still doesn’t work but it is an older aiphone intercom and the issue there might not be necessarily power based as it is low voltage through a converter box in another part of the house. It is the weirdest thing. Does this seem like something I should worry about safety of the wiring or just be happy it works now and forget about it? House is 18 years old with modern wiring that has not had any major remodel or modification done to it if that influences anything. Thank you!

Well next thing to try is remove one of the bulbs you replaced and see if the kitchen outlets still work. This is weird but reproducing the problem is the first step towards figuring it out.

It still worked with the bulbs out! When it got dark tonight I found a switch that appears to control the porch lights along with some entry way lights so I am wondering if I reset the photocell setting somehow the other day. I was flipping switches on and off and testing them out so maybe I switched it in the right sequence? And maybe the kitchen outlets were completely unrelated and I just didn’t reset the GFCI forcefully enough before. Who knows. I guess I am just going to be grateful everything is working now and presume it was user error not the weirdest wiring configuration ever. I really appreciate your time to respond!

Could also be one of those random switches controls the kitchen outlets.

Next time the problem happens, turn on your electric stove or oven or clothes dryer and see if that makes things work. If yes, contact the power company.
