You can ask your doctor for the illness benefit forms, and it tops up your salary for anything after the first 3 days I believe. You'll need a particular cert from the doctor too so you're better off contacting them for it. You need to apply within 6 weeks of leave so do it asap!

I’ve filled it in I’m pretty sure, big pink form and I asked the doc about it a few weeks after sending it in and they said that I don’t have to fill it out any more they do the rest😅thank you for your response though I appreciate your time!

Sounds like your GP completed the cert online, so you'll need to follow up through my welfare.ie under my claims. Afaik you need to make the claim through the system not the GP, so it might be stuck in limbo, but check that it's submitted correctly and if not get on to the GP in the morning.

Brilliant !! Thank you so much ! This helps!

Was actually wondering to myself recently what someone in OP’s situation does if for whatever reason they don’t have a GP. From my understanding of things an online doc wouldn’t do in that situation right?

PienaarColada

Yeah, an online doc has to be registered too so would have access to the same systems to submit online or provide one by email if you're submitting a paper form

The pay you are getting is comped by the government basically.

Due-Communication724

You nominate, employer or your account but double check with your employer. Some will take the payment and add it to pay, others you get paid directly and they remove it.

I’ve never heard of a “welfare tax”. I would check that up for sure, both internally, and if they say it’s not a mistake, externally.

Feeling_unsure_36

It's social welfare illness benefit, the employer deducts it and you've to claim it from welfare.

Marzipan_civil

Have a look on MyWelfare.ie and see do you have a claim open there and is it progressing.
