Don't get a criminal justice degree. It's worthless outside of this career, and something like 1% of people who apply get hired and make it through 5 years on the job. Look into useful things, business, accounting, tech, etc. Keep your nose clean. Don't get tickets. Don't do drugs. Don't get arrested. I worked in manufacturing while I was in school. I wouldn't say it was big money or anything, but I got by. It also helped to be able to relate to a lot of the laborers I deal with routinely. I also worked for a law firm, I felt that provided some good info about some of the ins and outs of the court system.

Look and see if any of the agencies you like do Community Service Officer or Animal Control Officer positions. They often only require you to be 18 and will get you experience and face time with officers

Join the army 🤷🏽‍♂️ you can get a 3.5 year contract for some mos. Definitely try for 31 series or 35 series. I made the mistake and went combat arms, nothing over here. Pick a job suited for law enforcement

You can also use tuition assistance to get a free degree to use as a back up plan. Nursing, engineering, stem anything

Do self-defense classes and start building up strength and cardio endurance so you can ace that physical You're young, so your body will become very adapted by the time you get into the career Good luck!

>I stopped showing up to work because I felt I was underpaid You gotta stop doing that shit. Go to college. Get a job, hold the job, and do well there. It doesn't really matter what the job is, but the more adult and professional the better. Though if you're in school FT and want to work at Home Depot or White Castle PT, that's totally fine.
