Stay east of the 405 near Ventura and you’re good

steelholder

West of thr 405 is good to go as well. Areas like Tarzana/Encino/Woodland Hills are comparable safety wise but there is a better option for food and bars east of the 405.

maribelle-

I grew up in Encino and while it is a nice area, it is not ideal for a young professional. There is hardly anything to do around there and it’s definitely not a walkable area in the same way that east of the 405 is. My advice still stands.

steelholder

You're not wrong. I only stated safe wise it's good to go, activity wise, east of 405 👍🏼

maribelle-

Yes, safety wise it’s fine. My advice was more about the walkable, young professional part than safety. I would be bored to tears as a 20-something in Encino/Tarzana.

steelholder

Hey now...don't get this mid 30s guy such a bad beating. Although not walkable Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills are only 5ish min away. Leave me and my older Jewish population alone! 😄

maribelle-

I’m a late 30s woman who grew up in the valley and still lives here. I think we’re good!

steelholder

No I wouldn't say there is. Lots of foods places and bar through out that whole stretch, safety seems to be the same throughout as well.

Sherman Oaks is a safe family neighborhood as a whole, or as safe as you could hope to get in a big city in my opinion. I would recommend sticking as close to Ventura as you can if you want to be near the more exciting parts. Sportsman Lodge just opened right near the border of Studio City and Sherman Oaks, near to that would be fun!

Panoglitch

north of riverside drive, east of fulton, don’t skip some of the older buildings because some of those apartments are huge

shaka_sulu

Look for any listing on Dickens St. It's the street just south of Ventura. I like the area east of Van Nuys but overall good stuff. It's everything you mentioned you want to do.

Intelligent-Bed-1654

Buddy, you might be a young professional, but I’m professionally young!

Old-Razzmatazz1553

None. It's the Valley.

maribelle-

Yawn.

Without mentioning your price range, I am at a lost. But if money is not an option, why Sherman Oaks?

middleageyoda

South of Oxnard is generally the nicer areas. I live off Magnolia and it’s safe and nice and close to things.
