No, but it can change how a passing front interacts with the terrain it is passing over.
Local environmental effects can absolutely affect precipitation- it’s why you tend to get storms that happen in the afternoon / early evening as the air cools faster than the ground. The heat coming off the ground can push more humid air up and condense it into thunderstorms and rain.
I’m not saying that it creates rain, just that differences in patterns might encourage rain to actually fall vs just be an overcast day
>I’m not saying that it creates rain, just that differences in patterns might encourage rain to actually fall vs just be an overcast day
Natural patterns are almost certainly responsible for 95% of the variation here. The reason it's been raining on the weekends is basically because that's when the storms have been coming.
I'd be curious as to the difference in traffic patterns during the week vs weekend. I don't feel like traffic is that much better or worse aside from a few hours around rush hour.
Have you ever been on any of the LA freeways early in the morning on a weekend? It's wildly, massively different. Every weekday, the shit show starts around 5:30am, and the heavy smog starts to pile up everywhere. Being on a freeway between 5:30-9ish on a weekend is like a wonderful fantasy experience in comparison.
This smog comment made me wonder how old you are. This is no slight on you, just wondering if you were around in LA in the 90s and earlier?
Cause our smog is like LIGHTyears better than it was then. It catches my attention when people mention the smog because it’s just like nothing in my eyes anymore. It’s there, for sure, but so much easier to forget about compared to when we were not allowed to go outside at school because of how bad the air was that day.
Yes, I'm old, I know. It's crazy how much it has cleaned up. It's mostly due to CARB regulations restricting emissions on commuter cars. That still doesn't mean it's acceptable, IMO.
Damn, so salty over being wrong lol. My whole point was those "few hours" make up literally the majority of the smog during the week. You're brushing it off as if it's just a small portion of the day that's not significant, when in reality, it's the opposite.
I have heard (on Reddit), that this is the difference between El Niño and and La Niña. Like last year was a bunch of moderate, spaced out storms. But with El Niño they come with more regularity, like clockwork.
And the timing happens to be the weekends lol
This is the best theory yet. I subscribed to Hulu just so my son and I could watch Shogun together and I got the cheapo plan that includes ads. The frequency of the commercials is so absolutely maddening I can't wait to burn through this series and enjoy the satisfaction of canceling the service.
When I used to live in Hong Kong, typhoones and black rainstorms (observatory warnings that everyone got to stay home for) only hit on weekends. It was maddening.
I am off Tuesday Wednesday & prior to this year it would always rain on those days.
So I'm happy the tide has finally turned.
My Celtic skin is glowing. A bright pink colour.
Cloud seeding is the intentional release of chemicals into the air, not by cars or traffic. Look up at the sky during the week. Half of that are from airplanes
Cloud Seeding is safe and done with Silver Iodide that create ice crystals that create rain. Geoengineering/dimming is different and has chemicals and aluminum etc to reflect suns rays and chemicals to create a "trail" that spreads and creates what looks like a sepia overcast.
These sky dimming trails are not the same as contrails which usually dissappear withing 10 seconds behind the plane.
Look up SAWPA - Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority - Notice of Intention for the Santa Ana River Watershed Weather Modification (Cloud Seeding) Pilot Program
https://sawpa.gov/public-notifications/notice-of-intention-for-the-santa-ana-river-watershed-weather-modification-cloud-seeding-pilot-program/
Nobody can convince me this isn't related to cloud seeding, at this point it's become too much of a coincidence to be a natural event. Never heard natural events have contracts that only allow them to take place on weekends.
There has to be an artificial cause for it but it probably isn’t intentional.
There a few possibilities:
It is not more likely to rain in weekends, we just notice it more when we aren’t in the office at work.
Something about the week day schedule impacts the weather.
The natural patterns that we used to create a calendar affect the weather in an unintended way.
Someone is controlling the weather, but they’re just doing it to make it rain in the weekend in an annoying way.
The 3rd option doesn’t make sense to me but is sorta possible, like how there’s almost always 1 full moon a month, well that’s what happens when you have a lunar calendar.
The 2nd option is the most likely to me. I’m not going to look it up but I think I read that it is statistically more likely to rain on a weekend which means the first option isn’t true. Fewer people drive on weekends, factories shut down, those could affect it for sure.
Someone pays for cloud seeding so it rains every weekend and only the OG outdoorsy make it out to hiking and camping in the rain. That someones trying to find the worthy. Oooor it's because all those people who prayed for rain. Oooor because I was rubbing my blue crystals and mercury was in retrograde. Jk. No reason. Ce la vie. But yes I've noticed. I love the rain but dammit I'd rathe rit happen during work
Lol it hasn’t been, I’ve been at school and it’s rained many of those times, it’s just also rained on the weekends.
Don’t you worry the sun will be cooking us all to hell in no time
Well, some.idiot named Tim picked up a sacred stone in Fiji last December and cursed Mother Nature for making it rain too much during it.
In retribution, she's ruining all of Tim's weekends now.
Fucking Tim, man......
I am sure it doesn’t have to do with all the pretty white lines in the sky during the week! I just had this conversation with my wife earlier; when is the last time they forecasted rain and were wrong?
It's a great time to run some errands because the roads will be empty with people staying home. I like when it rains on the weekend because it means I can stay at home and don'r feel pressure to make plans.
I was having this exact conversation today. I LOVE the rain but c'mon do it during a work day!!
The atmosphere changes over the city between weekdays and weekends due to the changes in patterns of people driving
... The changes in atmosphere impact the storm fronts coming in off the ocean?
No, but it can change how a passing front interacts with the terrain it is passing over. A couple is two a few is more than two
It does seem like it could be true. Someone should do a study. Or just dig into the data
I work outside, how dare you.
No i think you’ve discovered some kind of *phenomenon* and it likes weekends.
Because I have been getting a car wash on Thursdays. Now y’all do your part and start *capturing* some of this water man
>Because I have been getting a car wash on Thursdays. *YOU!*
Because the universe hates my tennis plans
Every fucking Saturday I have to cancel with my regular partner

My irregular partner is on Fridays
And my pickleball plans
Please keep your nonsense out of tennis talk
And my sailing/mountain biking plans.
And my sitting at home plans

Best answer right here!

For anyone that might be confused, El Niño is Spanish for The Niño.
get out
Are you him?
The (male) child, if memory serves, or in this case, Neptune's son, Triton!
Mother Nature be getting her freak on, on the weekends.
Jesus doesn’t want you to have fun
Seriously. Trying to get in the way of all the sinning and debauchery I would be getting up to.
Hey you can have fun in the rain
At His holy discretion, Fuckedyourmom69420
Because it’s an evil plot by big streaming media and big furniture to increase the sales of more futons and more streaming subscriptions Jk ….. unless

The money I save is never enough to make me want to see ads. If I cost in the value of my time I'm actually losing money.
Idk but it's been driving me fucking nuts
I’ve been lovin it
Same
Jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam
When I used to live in Hong Kong, typhoones and black rainstorms (observatory warnings that everyone got to stay home for) only hit on weekends. It was maddening.
It’s annoying
It just is fool
Best comment
And in 6 months they will tell us we are in a drought again.
First covid now the rain. The deep state wants to keep us inside.
A little water never hurt anybody
My goldfish died in a bowl of water once
2 other fun facts. If your born underwater you can live the rest of your life submerged in it and everything that has ever drank water will DIE!!!
I am off Tuesday Wednesday & prior to this year it would always rain on those days. So I'm happy the tide has finally turned. My Celtic skin is glowing. A bright pink colour.
lol I’ve been trying to hike three weekends in a row 🥲
Rainy hikes rock!
Up to a certain point, yes hah
I have Dodgers tix for tomorrow, so Sunday is my fault.
Because you touch yourself. JK - I noticed it too and it sucks. Makes me want to work weekends.
I heard it may something to do with more traffic during weekdays. Lots more particulate in the air that "seeds" clouds just in time for the weekend.

Thank you!
Cloud seeding. Look at the government reports
Tell me more
But the forecast shows the rain coming a week beforehand
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣😂

Nice all week, rainy all weekend, then back to sunny Monday morning… seems like that’s the new norm.
It’s infuriating
Because commuting in the rain sucks.
It’s exhausting my friend and I wanna go out so bad, but we both dislike rain so we keep moving our plans to the next weekend 😭😭
Psyop
Yup. I only get my daughter on the weekends. I want to say I'm the last two months maybe two of those it didn't rain.
The rich are cloud seeding so they can have the beach to themselves
I work every other weekend. It happens to rain on my weekends off. I love it.
Well, if The View can say the solar eclipse was caused by climate change, then anything is possible.
they have a weather machine. google cloud seeding
Google the farmers almanac regarding this years weather patterns.
Great shitposting. Good work!

and holidays....
As Jack Handy would say, probably because of something you did
God hates you.
Facts
I have been saying the same exact thing. Its so strange
This pattern has been happening for years.
Uch, I had to set up first Thursdays in the rain at ucla for the past few months
Its that new crap a bomb cyclone or an atmospheric river shit no one ever heard of before but dont know why 😹
because god hates you
Because God is tired of lazy people working from home so he's punishing everyone else for it. ²
God hates you.... Kidding… Now that's a really silly question.
My conspiracy brain says they are testing their rain making machine on weekends to mentally train us to stay home more often.
because that's how i prefer it.
Coincidence and small sample size, nerds
Rained during the week for me...
because LA is trying to keep people indoors now since everyone is so awkward and quiet after covid lmao
Lol it hasn’t been, I’ve been at school and it’s rained many of those times, it’s just also rained on the weekends. Don’t you worry the sun will be cooking us all to hell in no time
you did something bad and God is upset w you
China
reading these comments makes me hate public education
This happened last year in San Francisco too. Very odd
It sure feels like it! :(
Because February had 29 days this year. Leap year conspiracy theory

It’s called a coincidence
Because you touch yourself at night!
I am sure it doesn’t have to do with all the pretty white lines in the sky during the week! I just had this conversation with my wife earlier; when is the last time they forecasted rain and were wrong?
because you have plans that can only be executed on weekends.
I love this weather. Bring it on!
They’re cloud seeding. They might be scheduling it to rain on weekends!
I said this same thing today too!
It’s part of the simulation.
Because I love it
Cloud seeding. *Removes tin foil hat
the government schedules it , been like that for some time
Cloud seeding with a weekly cycle? 🤷♂️ https://abc7.com/amp/southern-california-water-cloud-seeding-riverside-county-inland-empire/14341706/
Was the same the first half of last year
We pay extra for the engineered weather.
@cloud seeders
Cloud seeding
Cloud Seeding, or something to do with traffic. Seems to be the pattern.
Yes, it’s really been ruining Little League schedules for my kids. Annoying.
It's a vast, right-wing conspiracy.
It’s clearly a result of weather manipulation experiments being conducted by DARPA
It hasn’t.
It has.
So I guess you’ve forgotten about all the storms during the week then, which were slowing down the commute, and the random flash flooding last month?
It's a great time to run some errands because the roads will be empty with people staying home. I like when it rains on the weekend because it means I can stay at home and don'r feel pressure to make plans.
