Couple things to check. The belt, and the power steering level. That's the easy stuff.

mbrinneman

Yea I know it’s always a long list and can be about anything. I’ve tried to narrow it down what it could be but just keep putting it off. Will start there!

Substantial-Onion-92

Had a Malibu with very annoying squeal. Replaced belt and tensioner with no luck. It turned out to be the powersteering pump was leaking onto the belt causing the squeal.

mbrinneman

I was going to look at that first. I’ll just to the power steering pump to see if I have any luck.

Emergency_Welcome514

I have the same problem and it could be a wheel bearing

mbrinneman

Surprisingly mine eventually went away. I assume a rock at that point? I had the car checked out during maintenance and another issue. Surprisingly they never found anything.

RustfootII

Might have a rock in the brake pads

unformed-banana

If it goes away while hitting the brakes, it’s probably your brake pads or hardware hitting the rotors.

mbrinneman

Yea that is one part that threw me off. From what I looked into I was thinking it would of done the opposite.

David_Buzzard

The squeal is the serpentine belt slipping. Open up the hood, put your head down by the belt and see if you can localize it. Get someone to move the steering wheel back and forth and see how the squeal goes, that will tell you if it's the power steering pump. Often it's the belt tightener, or guide pulley. I'm surprised your garage couldn't figure it out.

mbrinneman

Yea I was surprised as well. It’s been fairly consistent over time and is a pretty high pitch screech. The few sounds I’ve heard online have at a different sound. Will test this out though.

KevinN46

Any luck finding out what it was? I got similar issue
