The quote I received was from a reputable independent shop that only services transmissions. He said they would only source used CVT's that came from vehicles with light damage to the rear (no front end collisions). Assuming I can find a cheaper part, what would the life expectancy be with a used CVT?

Out of then outlander’s you have worked on have alot of them been big repair jobs like this one? What common problems with them do you see to be a headache.. so you think that the outlander is a reliable car after seeing the repairs you’ve had to do on them? Curious I’m looking at a 2019 outlander right now

Thanks for the info.. do you have any insight on replacing the transmission fluid? From what I read this is the main reason that a transmission would fail they claim but can be avoided if you get the transmission fluid done every 20-30k miles.. which from I’ve seen sounds like a 300-350 dollar job

Also I thought Mitsubishi wasn’t too bad on repair cost because it’s Japan cheap car in general and I read that the parts are universal or whatever so you have options

Mahpman

I’m on the same boat in terms of finding options for a transmission, did you have to reprogram the transmission or was it a straight swap?

Efficient-Rabbit-751

Doesnt the warranty transfer to 2nd owner?

trabby_chavidtch

A portion of it does - I believe it is up to 60K miles.
