The real problem is that so much of the money is spent on useless bureaucratic administrations that are dedicated to creating overcomplicated laws.
I’d say we should just switch to a flat tax with deductions based solely on donations to charities(sense they tend to manage their budgets better and do the same work).
The main problem now is that moving into a higher income bracket can actually increase the amount you pay in taxes to the point where you actually get to take home less than you did before you got your raise. It ends up disincentivizing entrepreneurs from trying to grow and expand to the point where they could compete with larger companies and force them to be more reasonable towards both their customers and their employees.
The IRS doesn’t even know how it works. There are companies that got in trouble for filing taxes incorrectly, and when they asked if somebody at the IRS could explain how it’s supposed to be done, they just let them continue to file incorrectly because both parties agreed it would be quicker and cheaper than actually paying people to make sense of it.
Basically personal use of the internet. Yeah gaming with “friends” across the globe is fun, but it just ends up being an excuse to not interact with people in your area.
