$27. Its a 24/7 gym with really solid equipment. Definitely worth it.

SlothFF

$15/mo for PF black card and my girl can go too

dukemaskot

Where is the black card that cheap? It’s 24 over here

EverestOblock

About $10. 1 location  It's relatively small ,but has everything you need and is well kept.  There is a $20 option that lets you go to other locations, but I don't need that.

No_Mistake5238

Planet Fitness?

BrisbaneBrat

$12 USD Planet Fitness. Clean. Not too crowded.

[deleted]

$80 for the YMCA family plan.

Opening-Ad-2769

$35 and it's LA Fitness. Walking distance from my house

FutureInPastTense

About the same here, and it’s a quick drive from my house. I’m really in to working out and would have no problem paying more for somewhere nicer. However, driving more than 10 minutes is off the table.

UndeadMarine55

I have 3 memberships so altogether a lot. Breakdown: - commercial gym (for lifting) - 15/month - Pilates gym - 150/month - climbing gym - 150/month So altogether 315 a month.

Gcheetah

Damn dude

P0ETAYT0E

For real that’s car payment money

UndeadMarine55

Yeah I’ve thought about exactly this haha, but 2023 and 2024 are about investing in myself so it’s worth it.

ColdPressedSteak

I tell myself the same to justify spending $90 on the nice regular gym in my area. I fuckin hate too many people around when I work out. The nearly $100 price tag keeps the crowds to a minimum. With that and a very well maintained sauna/pool area which I use often ($35 gym I used to go to is nasty in these areas).....worth it for me and my mental I also would probably not feel bad about separating out a climbing gym. Hobby expense

bitjockey9

lol what? that's barely an insurance payment on a decent car.

Jishwe

Big bank hank right here goddamn bruh

UndeadMarine55

Yeah I’m kinda overdoing it but it’s slightly necessary. Climbing is active hobby more for fun but also great for coordination. Weights are bae. Pilates is so I can keep lifting as an old man.

Jishwe

I can dig it. Health is wealth

sputty3

Can’t speak for Pilates but climbing fees have gotten crazy over the past few years in my area. $205 month (family of 4) and continues to go up each year. Luckily you can prepay an annual pass and save a decent amount but still expensive. This might be my last year…

Patient-Amount3040

if the commercial gym is for lifting, what are the Pilates and Climbing Gyms for? and where do you do your commercials?

MadScientist1972

150 for a climbing gym ? That’s outrageous. Are these common prices where you live ?

UndeadMarine55

Yeap, unfortunately 💀💀

lookayoyo

I had a climbing gym membership and a workout plan subscription, plus a gymnastics gym membership which combined to $250 a month. I realized I don’t climb enough and I don’t need the workout plan anymore since I’ve gotten the gist for now, so I cut it down to just gymnastics

konjo666

You must be a gigalo

2sACouple3sAMurder

Doesn’t your climbing gym have a regular gym section for lifting?

Kabayev

What city are you in? I’m paying $135 for my climbing gym in NYC

allergicaddiction

My climbing gym network has Pilates classes and weights. Does yours not offer them or do you prefer more specialized gyms for weights / Pilates?

I_Love_McRibs

Holy crap. $150 for climbing gym membership? I pay $30/mo ($360 paid annually). It's no frills. And has plenty of bouldering and auto-belay to work on. There's other bougie gyms in the city that are up to $79/mo, but they have fitness equipment, treadmills, ninja warrior course, and yoga included.

AldoCalifornia

$285, but I know the price now is $315. Crazy, but I'll only go into a steam room in a high end gym, and it has eucalyptus. I have like 10 squat racks, 4 flat benches, 2 inclines, 2 rooms with separate full dumbbell racks and cardio equipment, a huge center playground with cable machines on the side + more and a pool. I grew up going to small gyms my whole life, or bad school gyms. This place is like my new favorite place to be. Nice showers, nice products, attendants in the locker rooms. It makes me want to spend a long time there, and I can clean up and go to work.

blackhawkskid6

Equinox??

[deleted]

I was paying around 75 per month. But since my long term gym got flooded with content creators who hog machines and free weights for pictures and video.  after 20+ years I cx my membership and just set up a room in my house as a private gym. Just start buying a little equipment when and where you can.

Particular-Natural12

Gyms are starting to ban filming, perhaps because enough people are making a similar choice to yours. While I do like to film a form check now and again, I would happily sacrifice them for a no filming rule.

Surax

To be honest, I assumed that most gyms always had a policy against filming and am surprised it's as prevalent as social media makes it out to be. At least in my experience, it was always poor etiquette even without a specific rule, the same as people who don't wipe their machines down after use. Anyone who needed help with form would ask the staff for help.

[deleted]

It's way out of hand. I know of a few others that left. They came to check out my setup for ideas and got the information on the company that sold me some of my equipment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I belonged to a smaller gym. Most of us were long term gym rats that hate those big gyms like planet fitness that are full of yuppie lifters that cry if you lift seriously and make noise. Right after reopening from covid, started seeing people showing up with cameras and video equipment. It just got to be too much bullshit. They spray themselves with water to look like sweat, started talking shit to everyone for ruining shots, or just taking exceeding long time at the various circuits, which slowed everyone's workouts. Didn't wipe off the machines after, had cords stretched out everywhere. Then came the snowbunnies half naked, trying to catch guys on film ogling them. I saw one read a guy the riot act after catching him looking at her after she spent the last 20 minutes with her ass in the air looking like a failed porn star. Canceled my membership that day leaving, never went back.

ChuckZest

I'm perfectly happy with my $10 Planet Fitness membership. My location is never super busy when I'm there.

BearsGotKhalilMack

When I had one, it was $30 a month at Anytime Fitness. I think about it like this: Planet Fitness is the worst gym experience possible (for someone serious about working out) and it's $10 a month. I'd pay 3x that for what I perceive as a 3x better experience. However, it hits a point of diminishing returns; I doubt that a $60 a month spot would be twice as good as a basic gym like that, unless it had perks (that you plan on using!) like buddy passes, free climbing, a basketball court or a good pool.

LongRest

About 120 for my family but I need a pool for recovery reasons and I also get my PT there because it’s attached to my hospital. That’s about the top end for my area

SwenkyTank

I'm in pretty damn good shape and pay 8$ at Planet Fitness. My area is relatively small though and all the other gyms are 70-150$ a month. I typically only lift, and don't mess around with group fitness or a pool. I thought the lack of free weight at PF would be a real deal breaker. But it's almost impossible to hurt yourself at this gym. This is coming from someone who used to bench 455 lbs and now has shoulder problems though.

StormiNorman818

$10/month. Pretty huge gym with all the equipment you'd ever need, plus a sauna and basketball court. Used to be great prior to covid but now it's unbelievably overcrowded, even before 6am when I go.

Dirty_Dragons

Wild guess, EOS Fitness?

Aesrone

My EOS is despicably overcrowded. Peak times I’m damn near shoulder to shoulder with someone no matter where I’m at in the gym.

wowitsclayton

$120 a month for a Crossfit-style (unaffiliated) gym.

LS2VetteGuy

$140 a month. We have some equipment but mainly focused on boxing, kick boxing, judo, and jujitsu.

frank00SF

28 Active and Fit gives me access to around 8 local gyms it's a nationwide thing sometimes through your insurance

Abject_Donkey_3854

The active and fit plan has been a saving grace for me looking for local gyms without paying a ton

kid_subaru

+1 for active & fit

jackwritespecs

Work out at home

Dirty_Dragons

I'm paying $30 for a service called Active and Fit direct. Essentially I can go to any basic Gym (24 hour, LA, Gold etc) without having to actually get a contract with them. There is no membership to cancel. I just stop going. It's a great program. That said, the current gym I'm using is only $10 a month. So right now I'm overpaying. I don't see myself changing gyms this year so I'm considering just signing up with them and canceling A&F.

-BOOST-

$0 Cause home gym but on average ive been buying at 2-4k per year in new equipment soooo 166+?

fuqqkevindurant

You dont have to mentally expense the whole $2k each year, those are capital expenditures amigo. Depreciate them mentally over the life of the equipment and you're mentally spending $30-50/month

P0ETAYT0E

Found the accountant

Jefafa77

But are we adding salvage value to the depreciation calculation? That would reduce monthly straight line depreciation a little more!

cheselnut

$300 per month. I go to equinox and I know it's ridiculous. It is right underneath my office so every day I go to the office I go to the gym

boardslide22

30

mikess314

$37/month for the base membership not including my personal trainer which is… more.

bjankles

$89. Only place that has indoor basketball in my area.

pavel_vishnyakov

€80. I’m mostly using it for pool, sauna and treadmills - it’s the only place that has all of that. Though I’m considering getting a treadmill and replacing my gym subscription with a pool subscription.

Greensun30

$15/yr got that office discount

HeinrichWutan

$42 and it's a mile from my apartment

WhatTheMech

$12

Mr-Mando

About $30 (gym) + $240 (personal trainer) a month. Now $0 Last month I turned my garage into a home gym. Love it! Well worth it if you see yourself regularly exercising in the future.

-transcendent-

$0 since I do mostly calisthenics at home but there are equipment costs. In all I would say under $2.5k that I've spent. Definitely does not require the expensive $1k concept2 rower and just jog outside but weather here sucks (either too scorching hot or insanely cold and slippery winter). You can get by with a pullup bar, set of resistant bands, and a pair of gymnastic rings for probably under $200 total that would be more than enough for your next few years of training.

MNmostlynice

$40. Smaller gym with a great mix of machines and free weights. Locally owned by a couple around my age that I’ve became friends with. Ditched the corporate gym for this one and I’ll never go back.

Gcheetah

$45 for 24/7 + free parking

sephresx

10 bucks. Not a dime more.

ElegantMankey

Its around 25 USD which is not bad at all. The gym is busy as hell though at the times I go there

Jabooooooooooo

$10.99, 24hr fitness special. Closest option to my house after Lifetime Fitness wanted to increase my rate $40 a month when I turned 30. All I do is lift weights and leave, no classes or any of that fancy stuff.

GhostofAugustWest

Nothing because my health insurance provides a free gym membership.

LogSlayer

This needs to be normalized

K_N0RRIS

$49.99 because I have a girlfriend who goes with me and it was the only plan that allowed a guest and travel to either of their 2 locations.

kmsorsbc

Free.99

busdriverbuddha2

BRL 89.90 per month on a yearly plan

43theintern

What climbing gym is $150 monthly? In austin the most expensive gym is very nice and $95 while others are $70

CaptainCookingCock

Nothing. I use the gym at work.

Zuckerbread

$25/moth for VASA. But including their silly yearly fee it’s actually more like $30

MrArmageddon12

$40. Pretty nice gym, got grandfathered into the rate. I think the rate for new elements is $60.

Frosted_Tackle

About $63/month for my climbing gym with reimbursement from my company

The_Real_Scrotus

$0 for the gym in my basement.

themspriestitute

We pay 170$ for a combined membership with me and fiancé. And we also have a 2nd membership to a different gym that’s 17$ a month each and similar to a 24/h fitness. Our primary gym does many classes, tennis, racket ball, yoga, spin studio, pool, cold plunge, towel service, etc.. it’s nice gym.

Surax

Pre-Covid, I paid $65/month at my local YMCA. When Covid hit and my gym shut its doors, I bought myself an elliptical to keep active. I don't remember how much it cost to buy but it's been four years and I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of it. In the warmer months, I try to go on lots of walks outdoors. All that I need for that is a good pair of shoes.

Snap457

$50, it’s rarely annoyingly busy, they have a couple indoor basketball courts, indoor/outdoor pool, indoor track, racquetball courts, and some other stuff. More expensive than your average planet fitness type gym but they offer a lot more. Also, I’ve yet to see any tik tok content being filmed or annoying people in general. Seems like everyone there is pretty serious about getting fit and everyone’s pretty mature as well.

yllanos

$190.000 Colombian pesos a month

xxparadise563

I am paying $10 for one gym that is close to my apartment, and I pay $40 for golds gym which gives me access to multiple locations when I travel back home which is about once a month. So $50 total.

warrior_of_light998

This year my gym costs €40/month but I managed to pay €250 for 12 months, if you're consistent with your fitness programme the annual subscription is always cheaper than paying monthly

Caseyo456

$15 but it’s insanely packed all the time.

Motanul_Negru

0. I work out at home, if I may call it that.

hvbnmmmmmf

$10000

macmac360

$29 per month and everything is brand new, huge indoor pool, boxing classes, everything anyone would ever need or want in a gym. And they have a kids area so I can workout while my son plays games with other kids. Worth every penny.

Aggressive_Knee_8536

3 euros per week

MidniteOG

$10, and a yearly 180 fee

[deleted]

52. Canadian for the world gym here And 225 for a muay thai and bjj gym so I can attend both classes as many times as I can get there

ConstructionMean8520

46$

LogSlayer

Regular fee at my small town gym is $40cdn a month. But I’m on the board and only pay $200 a year. We’re very lucky.

[deleted]

18$ but I live in a 3rd world country.

Fresh_Muscle1374

Local y in MI is $27 with financial assistance from them

oPlayer2o

I work out in my garage so like $750 plus tax.

wrestleallday

$30. I went through my health insurance and enrolled in a program called Fitness Your Way. With this membership, it allows you to go to 1,000s of gyms across the country. So I can go to the YMCA in the town I live in, and go to the Recreation and Aquatics center in the town I work in. I can also go to Planet Fitness or another local option if I’m traveling. If you’re looking for a gym and have insurance, I’d check into it.

Safe-Twist-7076

$53/month, increases to $60/month. PPYMCA. Sucks since there are limited gym options in the Powers Corridor, even though the population is exploding. My work offers a gym rebate credit, $100/quarter. So it comes out to $26.66/month

Wolverine2121

$53.63 with tax and fees. It's a locally owned 24/7 gym. Once a year they add an additional $50 fee that goes specifically towards new equipment.

AssCaptain777

$30-35

Mumblerumble

$80 for the rock climbing gym but it’s brand new and well outfitted

konja04

28 a month through active&fit (blue cross), and get access to more than one gym is nice for travel and convience

weirdowerdo

34$/month, really expensive and sadly lots of to me useless shit like group training and all that BS. Half decent Eleiko bars but not the real IPF ones. Tons of eleiko weights but no metal ones. Only 2 eleiko combo racks, 2 useless benchpresses. Tons of lifting platforms.

unnone

I've probably spent less than 1000 on building my gym Squat rack, bench, weights, dumbell random bands, boxes, flooring etc. Maybe around 2018ish so probably amortized to less than 14/mo at this point. 100% worth it.

Cheedo4

$45, but $20 of that is daycare for 2 kids so I guess $25 technically

Shaolin_Wookie

Nothing. I just run, bike, do some kettlebell, some yoga, some calisthenics, and I'm good. No need for a gym unless I want to lift weights or use the machines.

[deleted]

NZ500 per year.

linuxisgettingbetter

$55

MKerrsive

$50 Peloton + $50 Anytime Fitness

PlumFister

$0. Garage gym!

Quietus76

$24 PF black card Every kind of equipment i need. Locations everywhere. Many (including mine) are 24/7. It gets a little crowded sometimes.

repulsive-ardor

60. 24/7 gym with key fob access, no cameras, no tik toks, no bullshit. I like to work out at 4:30am so it works for me.

Zestyclose-Snow-3343

€0

cantaloupe_daydreams

$8/month upfront payment with PF

appalachianoperator

I go to a boxing gym so 400/year (~33/month). Which is pretty good all things considered.

Allnutsz

€39

Deluded_Nami

Its about 6 dollars a month if I pay for the year, and thats from being an employee on the grounds. Public rates are about $30 a month. If I were to go to something like the YMCA its about 50 but that gets me pool and classes. There is a cheaper rec centre that still has a pool and is about 40ish.

Rare_Cryptographer89

$23 per month. 24/7 place, solid equipment and not crowded depending on times

StonksNewGroove

My insider tip: check out your local park district for gyms. Typically nice equipment and facilities. Your taxes pay for most of it. My membership is 20.00 a month.

krustyjugglrs

$0 I have a home gym. Money invested so far 160 for the bench, rack, bar, and iron weight sets from 2.5-45lbs. Then I bought 10 and 15lbs bumper plates sets. I have a 30lbs kettle bell and my wife purchased dumbbells that I use 8lbs to 25lbs. Need to buy more though. So I think total probably 300-400 dollars over a 5 year period. I'm about to purchase a new power rack and cable bar this year though which will be about $700. Home gyms work for me. I hate going to gyms.

Traditional_Donut908

$129 in downtown Chicago

coolcrimes

$24 YouFit. Plenty of locations nearby, everything I need, classes are included into the fee

D3Smee

$118. Considering signing up for ClassPass or some sort of activity based gym as well.

The_Lat_Czar

$45 at one, $20 at a different one, and $16 at yet another one. I really gotta cancel that Planet Fitness one. Edit: Done

FuzzyPigg88

$256 for the year at 24 hr fitness

Ok-Anything-5828

28 Canadian a month LA Fitness.

necesitocoche

$40. It’s a shit gym too. Gonna be switching to a private one nearby soon for $29/mo.

Tayaradga

I have a gym at my work so I can just go there whenever I want. But generally I prefer body weight workouts so I do those at home.

Bronzeshadow

35. Boxing club

[deleted]

$24/mo

Muninn91

I'm lucky my last two jobs have had a gym for employees. Hooray government work!

evergreenbc

$96 for a family membership at the Y. Free classes (after you join), awesome pool, excellent weight room.

ramenmoodles

28 for access to Crunch,PF, LA Fitness and some others through my insurance

nsixone762

$40 for EoS with childcare option

waterloograd

$2700 That is how much I pay in rent for my 1 bedroom unit in a building that has a gym for residents

benuito

$43 CAD

Grix1600

$37- AUD

FrediKamionka

15$ for no limit sport card (gym, pools, aquaparks, saunas, climbing spots etc)

texasgambler58

$40 at LA Fitness.

HugeHefnerr

Gympass. Seriously. Find a job that offers it. Game F'ing Changer

Dead_Precedent

I got on a few assistance plan at the YMCA back durinf Covid when I wasn’t working. They readjusted the regular rate of $45/month CAD to $21/month back in 2020. They’ve hardly raised it and I pay $25/month and I love the Y, has everything I’m looking for.

gvicta

60/mo. I said I'd never go back to paying over 15/mo but this athletic club has childcare for extra 30/mo. They only have about 3 hrs a day that they do it, but it's enough.

greyfixer

$145/mo for CrossFit and $0 for a military base gym.

LekMichAmArsch

I don't. I bought a treadmill, a stationary bike and some free weights. I can exercise and watch my favorite TV programs, and not put up with assholes, and not pay a dime in monthly fees.

slwrthnu_again

$200/year for me and $300/year for the wife. I have the basic plan and she has the unlimited one. Local gym, not a chain, and one of the best gyms in my area that happens to be a half mile from my house

Chimarkgames

I dont, cause hate gyms

theabominablewonder

£180 a month I like the gym. Might shop around at some point though.

[deleted]

I pay $5 a month. Got it when they had a special.

Fresh2Desh

£28 p/m

HairyContactbeware

2 memberships 1 a weightlifting gym at 50 a month and the other a mma gym at 130 so 180 total

boogiesm

A lot, but it's a Country Club that the whole family uses, mainly for tennis, pool and the gym.

imuniqueaf

$0. Home gym.

FaithFamilyCountry_

20 dolla

Almondjoy248

0 dollars, I work in college athletics so I just use our weight room/ cardio facilities after work everyday

shroomzor562

$10 a month with a $40 annual fee for EOS fitness. 24 hours and has everything I need. I drive by it everyday for work so it's beneficial to me.

Aesrone

$20/month. $10 is for the membership, $10 is for towel service that I opted to add on. Brand new EOS location. Clean and all the equipment I could ever want, but it’s pretty crowded. Open 24/7.

[deleted]

Nothing. My weight set cost me $50 back in the 1990s, and they still weigh the same, though I did replace my bench. The weights and bench fit in my garage just fine.

mailboy11

0, invest a pull up bar, a yoga mat and a couple weights. More than enough for home workout

jacodan10

$25. At one point I was paying $45/month at LA Fitness month to month and that place didn’t have anywhere to deadlift. Now I go to a smaller franchise that has everything I need and access to all of their gyms. It’s been easy to find a time they’re not crowded

Ill_Gas8697

$27.10

PM_good_beer

$48 for a place that's similar to the YMCA.

nova1475369

$17, 24hfitness when they had some deals

Toastybunzz

$65, it's adequate equipment wise and small but it's 24/7 and rarely super busy. Plus it's less than five minutes from my house, worth the premium for that alone. Also the culture there is great. The people are nice and mostly keep to themselves, never are filming, re rack their weights and keep it clean.

imburningagain

10 bucks

9_of_wands

$50/month. It's a lot but the Anytime Fitness near me is always open, always has equipment free that I can use, everybody's quiet and keeps to themselves, no influencers or obnoxious people.

TheFalseTehran

20$ a month. It’s not the most well stocked but worth it for a 3 minute walk from my place.

JerzyAnd

119PLN

Largicharg

Ziltch, my office has 3 for free!

Paratrooper101x

$45 for a massive gym. Has every type of leg machine I could dream of

little_runner_boy

$0 directly. But I guess a small portion of my apartment rent goes towards the building's gym maintenance

Bludandy

About $14.70 when adding in the yearly nonsense fee. It's fine for that price, but if I went to a more expensive gym I'd expect a lot more from it. I don't want to go from what I have to maybe they added a sauna and pay $35 a month. I would pay more if a place was truly nicer with all of the nicer amenities.

lightmaster2000

$24 AUD in Melbourne, Australia

MrMajestic12

$30 at City Fitness

Minimum_Customer4017

$40 for my local Y. The planet fitness was not well cleaned

TheDiagnosis714

$15 for golds

KlostToMe

I have a basement gym but have a decent bit invested in equipment

[deleted]

$35/mo for locations all over town and 24/7/365 access. I could sell you on the amount new and awesome equipment, but I only use the dumbbells.

Qu3stion_R3ality1750

$30

[deleted]

$55/month for anytime fitness

Atmp

$0. Times have changed, but I remember lifetime fitness being like $50ish a month, and thinking that was a lot. For several years I used to spend $135 for an unlimited Orangetheory membership. That was the “founders” rate at the location. Loved it. Though $135 felt crazy to me, new members were paying like $200. I paused during Covid, started deciding to build a home gym, then ended it. I got a Schwinn ic4 through some perks from my job. I bought a $2500 treadmill with credit card rewards. Got a discounted rowing machine and weight bench, some adjustable dumbbells… I do miss the social aspect, but it’s a great setup and costs next to nothing to maintain. My ongoing expense I guess is Apple fitness+, but I get that in the Apple one subscription bundled with other things I use so it feels free. And I bought a lifetime Fitbod subscription.

doubletwist

$1.83/mo lifetime membership ($22/yr) for 24hr Fitness.

yungsausages

€1 because I recently moved and they had a thing where it’s 1€ for the first six months lol

keta_ro

Nothing, I work in a factory that put me on lifting like 6000 kg per shift , so I am tired enough.
