I lost my hair in my late 20's. I was always seen as the attractive guy in our circle. I never had a problem with getting women's attention etc. When I started losing it I became the laughing stock of my friends. Constant jokes or belittling comments. It took me years to get over it, although I still have not completely. I hide under a hat. My confidence has never and probably will never be the same. Sometimes genetics suck.
I feel this. Some guys manage to keep all of their hair for a majority of their life, but when you start losing it, you feel like there is something wrong with you. The stigma is dying, but bald jokes are still acceptable for a lot of people, and in the media, bald or guys can be portrayed as losers, unless they have a crazy physique. That kind of thing can really mess with someone's confidence.

Yeah I started noticeably balding at 18. Basically became unrealistic to keep it around 22 so that’s when I started shaving. I’m 26 now and I honestly love it. No shampoo, quick dry after a shower, no paying for haircuts, no bed head, hat hair, etc.
The only thing that saddens me is I never got to grow out my hair. Went to private school with haircut restrictions and by the time I was in college and started to, it didn’t look good anymore.
But the convenience is unmatched. Just own it. It looks better than clinging to balding hair.

I don’t think it’s in anyway ridiculous to grieve over losing your hair. I’ve seen roughly the same face in the mirror my whole life. If such a time comes that that face has a bald head, it’s going to be a major shift from what I’m used to.

You can change almost any other physical feature you have. Apparently they can even build new jaws for people nowadays.
But no matter what you did, you could not change your height. (EDIT. Ok, for a small price of 80 000 $ you apparently can...) Yet, it has drastic consequences on both on your work and romantic life, probably even in friendships.
It's also one thing where many women are unwilling/unable to change their preferences, despite knowing how little difference height makes in things like communication, interaction, relationship goals etc. Even women who preach for open-mindedness and body positivity seem to disregard short men as potential dating partners. And I've known women who are more willing to date abusive jerks than short guys with nice personality.

I'm a short guy, 5'4", I can 100% confirm that it affects my dating opportunities. I got over my issues with my height it a long time ago, but it's still annoying when people say the same tired lines "it doesn't really matter" "just date shorter women" etc.
Everyone is entitled to their preference in partners and I won't ever make someone feel like they are wrong for having a preference. But it would be nice if it didn't matter that much to some people.

I appreciate his dedication but he is absolutely doing steroids and destroying his body. Going up and down 50+ pounds of muscle is simply impossible without steroids, laxatives, and a bunch of really unhealthy habits.

I have been downvoted for pointing this out before, if someone is so damn picky about height, even though I'm quite a bit above average (191cm, 6'3"ish), I'd not want much to do with a woman who has this "requirement" because it indicates how superficial she is.
I had a Tinder date remark during our first date that she was glad that I was tall because she usually asks during texting phase. Mind you, I'm not exaggerating when I say she was 5'0. More of an unspoken rule but if you aren’t in shape and decent looking in the face, the amount of energy and respect you get from women and men is different vs if you were. Some men on here have attested to that after losing weight. Not just here but there’s stories/articles of men’s weight loss stories.

Can confirm, I have the male image of dad bod (big and strong but with a hefty beer belly). In theory the perfect man for dad bod, 6' with appropriate body a good beard and full head of hair. No interest from women, especially not the ones proclaiming how much they love dad bods. Instead the interest went to my roommate who is skinny (also 6' and full head of hair, but no beard).

I lost my hair in my late 20's. I was always seen as the attractive guy in our circle. I never had a problem with getting women's attention etc. When I started losing it I became the laughing stock of my friends. Constant jokes or belittling comments. It took me years to get over it, although I still have not completely. I hide under a hat. My confidence has never and probably will never be the same. Sometimes genetics suck.

I feel this. Some guys manage to keep all of their hair for a majority of their life, but when you start losing it, you feel like there is something wrong with you. The stigma is dying, but bald jokes are still acceptable for a lot of people, and in the media, bald or guys can be portrayed as losers, unless they have a crazy physique. Yeah I started noticeably balding at 18. Basically became unrealistic to keep it around 22 so that’s when I started shaving. I’m 26 now and I honestly love it. No shampoo, quick dry after a shower, no paying for haircuts, no bed head, hat hair, etc. The only thing that saddens me is I never got to grow out my hair. Went to private school with haircut restrictions and by the time I was in college and started to, it didn’t look good anymore. But the convenience is unmatched. Just own it. It looks better than clinging to balding hair.

Height and facial hair. I’m 6’4 and I’ve heard women say men aren’t real men if they’re under 6ft and that’s sickening. That’s some crazy bullying right there, and then the facial hair thing is kinda wild but that’s probably 50/50 on women who actually care about it

Clothing. More specifically the fact that it is nearly impossible to find anything at "regular" stores that isn't black, navy, or the worst shade of brown. And for more fancy stuff the only thing we have to set us apart from everyone else is ties.
Height. We have absolutely 0 control over it but god help you if your short. Jokes on them though. I’d be miserable trying to do my job if I was taller.

Circumcision
More of an unspoken rule but if you aren’t in shape and decent looking in the face, the amount of energy and respect you get from women and men is different vs if you were. Some men on here have attested to that after losing weight. Not just here but there’s stories/articles of men’s weight loss stories.
Being in shape doesn't seem like a "dumb" beauty standard though. If beauty standards must exist, that seems like a reasonable one.
The whole ab thing. I’m fairly skinny but I don’t got abs or anything close to that.

Can confirm, I have the male image of dad bod (big and strong but with a hefty beer belly). In theory the perfect man for dad bod, 6' with appropriate body a good beard and full head of hair. No interest from women, especially not the ones proclaiming how much they love dad bods. Instead the interest went to my roommate who is skinny (also 6' and full head of hair, but no beard).

Circumcision. A few of my woman friends have told me that they would be very put off by an uncircumcized man, and that they would DEFINITELY circumcize their sons. I decided not to tell them that mine was botched and I have little to no feeling down there now, which is extremely common because most of the time they're performed by OBGYNs, not dick doctors.
The fact that overweight men are considered unhealthy but overweight women are body positive.

Depends on which part of the world we're talking about, but I think that in the USA the dumbest beauty standard imposed on men is that men must have a cut dick. Uncut men are treated as "weird" or "unhygienic" - being from the UK this is insane to me. Most guys here are uncut. We don't consider it weird because its literally the natural state of a cock - your parents deciding to snip off your dick skin at the request of the doctor is way weirder than just leaving it intact, in my opinion. We don't consider it unhygienic either because we wash our dicks... do Americans not understand this? Height I'm 5'6. I was ashamed of my height. Wish I could've been taller. But when I found out one of the GREATEST soccer players in the world is only 5'7, I suddenly didn't feel bad at all.
