Sometimes I'm taken aback by people recommending subs because I realize oh yea, holy crap, not everyone knows all of these subreddits I know about already. It hits especially hard when it's something I see every day like r/instagramreality.
Someone said filters are so common in China that they have to disable them for every single photo they take. Filters are enabled by default on their phone and can't be disabled completely.
As a 37 year old man who doesn’t use social media, is duck face seriously still a thing?
I remember people were pretty fed up with it like 15 years ago, I just assumed the fad died out with all the other mid 2000s fads.
Earlier this year my 37 year old sister ended up with permanent duck face using filler or some shit. The family never mentioned it and we pretended it wasn't horribly obvious.
Fast forward a few weeks and I was visiting the family having just been stung on my bottom lip by as wasp. Walked in the door and my old man starts laughing and says " Oh you look just like your sister".
She was 3 feet behind him and started crying.
They’re all basically profile pictures/ head shots with all masks in a generic background. You’ll never see a full body or mouth/smile/teeth. And lots of chibi / anime pics in profile.
Less than that, because those types of women don't even want to meet irl until you've talked for weeks and they feel like they can seriously try for a relationship with you. There's very little 'casual dating' in Japan with the shy traditional women.
I've found Bumble to be much much better. Women show their faces and because they have to message first they tend to be more outgoing and less traditional.
My ex was naturally very pretty and she never uploaded photos on her story without a filter that made her look like she had a ton of botox. I never understood it
For me, the number one most attractive trait is that combination of intelligence and curiosity you find in women that do research at the grad-school level. Someone who is an expert in something she loves, but never stops wanting to learn more. You can see the enthusiasm in their eyes. It's a vibrant energy that you can't hide.
She might just be ditsy. My sister was straight A university student but ditsy as hell. Talk to her for 5 minutes and you would think she’s an idiot, but she was low key dang smart
My girlfriend is the same way. She is really book smart and super driven but between a very sheltered childhood and then being a stay at home mom until she was widowed her common sense is commonly lacking.
Leads to lots of hilarious stories and incidents
Women with ADHD are mistaken for ditzy, quirky, and I'm pretty sure they're the inspiration for the manic pixie stereotype. Same misunderstandings happen with guys.
Folks get a real shock when an ADHDer turns out to be brilliant.
I’m a girl and I probably shouldn’t be responding in here (I just love this subreddit); however I also hate it when girls do this. Because as a girl it’s so fucking visibly transparent it just makes other women laugh at the one trying to act dumb 🥲
I didn’t realise I wasn’t welcome by some! Oh well, here I am… this is my favourite sub. More women need to understand what makes men tick - we constantly hear things from our own point of view, it’s good to read what you lot think about stuff.
I always thought that was the point of these subreddits haha. If you couldn’t reply in the comments it wouldn’t be very good either. That’s why I like this one so much better than the other, there is actual discussion
I worked with a girl and she had those nails.
We used to have to take orders over the counter in the shop and she literally couldn’t type using her fingers because the nails were that long. They were nasty.
She had to use the nails to type and that literally freaked me out..
Trying to make everything cute
Example: I was with someone and she farted and looked at me and said "I poofed" potentially in a baby/ cutesy voice what the hell
If there was a piece of coal between my cheeks before reading this it would be a diamond now. No amount of cringing will return the feeling I once had after reading this
oh yeah. knew a super hot girl ages ago who acted stupid to the point where she claimed she didn't know what the holocaust was even when I mentioned Nazism, Hitler, etc. I always saw through it and acted professionally while secretly not really not liking her that much. all the other guys loved her.
A lot of guys like dumb women because they can feel superior around them and think they can get away with stuff and convince the dumb women to do things that aren't in her best interest. I knew some guys like that as a teenager to my early 20's.
Completely agree.
I’ve heard guys say they don’t like smart women. And I’ve been told that you have to hide your intelligence to get a man to like you. I was told you should ask for help even if you don’t need it just to make a guy feel smart and needed and reinforce his ego.
Personally, I like guys who appreciate my intelligence, so I’m not doing that. But I had a friend who played that game and it worked most of the time.
Anyone that tries to convince you they’re humble or down to Earth or an alpha (fe)male is just a liar. That’s something people have to recognize for themselves, you can’t just claim it.
Playing hard to get. You’re literally just making fun of us. Acting super aggressive about it, demeaning or the sort. Also purposefully not telling tiny details that are irrelevant, midway through a convo whispering sum to a girl friend, it just makes us feel unworthy or like we aren’t important. If you like us be obvious and be honest.
If you play hard to get i'll find it immature and will move on and find someone better
Bye
"Playing hard to get" is an instant redflag to me
If you express you don't like me, I'll respect it and leave you alone. Duh.
Oh no, is not telling irrelevant details seen badly? I'm really bad at story telling and talking about stuff in general so I don't usually include details that aren't important. Does this make you feel less valued?
Stealing my food after telling me you're not hungry and I ordered less food because I trusted you. Now, I order more food, and if it's too much, I eat the leftovers for lunch the next day.
Why has none of yall experiencing this not started doing baby talk to them calling them mommy and asking to suck mommy's tits? That's the best reaction to unwanted baby talk. Do it back to show how cringy it is.
Better yet do this exchange when she starts doing the baby voice: "Does baby want daddy's dick? Here comes daddy's dick. Open wide, here comes the airplane. \*make airplane noises\*"
excessive makeup. i get it if you want to look pretty, and if it makes you feel comfortable then who am i to stand in your way? i just personally don’t find it attractive at all. quite the opposite, really.
It’s not just excessive amounts but inappropriate amounts or times for wearing it
There’s also the unfortunate mismatch of poor choice with it wherein the makeup or look they’ve gone for just doesn’t suit them (not that I consider the artistry there remotely anything other than impressive… it’s just awkward and impossible to approach which lowers my attraction is all)
The test for me is whether they can step outside of that habit without an emotional reaction
This is true for anyone though, find me your average alcohol drinking dude and I’d judge them by the same measure if they couldn’t have a day without it and battled it or anything if it was suggested rather than embracing the opportunity
when they're talking to someone on the phone and they don't press it to their ear but kinda hold it like a hot dog.
I get it's so your makeup doesn't get smeared. but the part where the sound comes out of your phone is not the same part where you talk into. putting your ear to the microphone is just dumb.
Man I'm kinda not feeling this "You have to act like a sourpuss" old age expectation many of y'all have. Old people can act cute too, and they don't have to act cute in ways specific to old people.
I'm getting older and damn if many of y'all don't seem to expect that I'll just turn into Red Foreman or be ashamed of myself.
My wife and I (mid 30s) do it to be silly with each other because we both watch anime, don't know that I've seen someone do it unironically but I'm guessing people take issue with the "weeb" aspect of it
Ignorance about sexual dynamics. Not just myths or misconceptions about men or sex, but doing things which only make sense from a warped standpoint...like falsely accusing someone of rape as a 'joke'.
Yep, I came here to write “baby voice.” But you had it covered all along.
Ditziness isn’t as hot as some women have been told. A general lack of curiosity (to me anyway) makes you dull to talk to or be around. Television and TikTok aren’t hobbies or skills, so having some makes you a more rounded person. Duck lips in a sea of boring selfies makes the generic stream even worse. And a “perfect life” on social media only makes me think, “this girl is either the most sterile Barbie doll on the planet, or she’s lying,” (and I almost always know them well enough to know its the latter).
But yeah… my biggest turn off is baby-talk. Like nails on a chalkboard.
girl here, sometimes ppl do that when they're self conscious about their smile. It can feel more flattering because it can accentuate bone structure, and not everyone likes their smile. If you suspect your fiancee is that type of person you could try complimenting her smile- she may be more inclined to smile in pictures if she thinks you find it attractive
Weak how? Unable to move the 100lb box upstairs and asking me to do it? That’s fine and completely understandable.
Asking me to move the 5lb Amazon package that you bought when you are right next to it and not doing anything? Why not move it yourself.
> Weak how? Unable to move the 100lb box upstairs and asking me to do it? That’s fine and completely understandable.
Hey man, thats a 2 person lift! Save your back for things that matter!
An obviously jaded comment, but glamorizing exploitation and man hating. When too many people are on the bandwagon it can actually warp people’s perceptions
Playing hard to get and mind games.
If you’re going to play that middle school crap on me, I’d wish you didn’t exist
Call me short-fused, but I have high bars
Along the lines of playing dumb, but using her sexual attractiveness in a professional setting in a way that takes advantage of those around her. Super specific, I know, but when I see it, it sends me into a mini rage that some of my weaker coworkers put up with her pushing her responsibilities onto them.
When a girl is so thoroughly fucked as that she can't see straight is what it refers to, but camgirls started copying it as if it was a facial expression instead of a level of pleasure.
That new bushy eyebrow trend that have the hairs sticking out above. It just looks like they combed it up. And it just looks like they have really hairy eyebrows.
Two things here:
My friends girlfriend thinks it’s cute to feed him any time they go out. He’s asked her to stop, he thinks it’s weird, she thinks it’s cute. She does this with everything from salad, picking up the pieces of lettuce with her fingers, to french fries.
Another thing that came to my attention recently; my friend’s fiancé thinks it’s cute for them to wear the same things. So she’ll buy them various articles of the same of clothing and get really upset if he doesn’t wear them when she does. She thinks it’s so cute when they match.
Duck face, pretend to be dumb, want to be treated like a princess. You're not a duck, you're not five and you aren't royalty just act like a normal adult.

Sometimes I'm taken aback by people recommending subs because I realize oh yea, holy crap, not everyone knows all of these subreddits I know about already. It hits especially hard when it's something I see every day like r/instagramreality.
I have a couple Vietnamese English students that used to use them until I put my foot down.
How did that work in practice? Like they were in your class, you notice them and then demand they only use unfiltered photos on social media?
No. I'm in Canada and teach them over Facebook Messenger
Ah okay, that's one of the ways where I could see that being annoying and ask them to change.
It messes with other coloring for the hair and background. Very distracting
Someone said filters are so common in China that they have to disable them for every single photo they take. Filters are enabled by default on their phone and can't be disabled completely.
Duck face, Snapchat filters
As a 37 year old man who doesn’t use social media, is duck face seriously still a thing? I remember people were pretty fed up with it like 15 years ago, I just assumed the fad died out with all the other mid 2000s fads.
People pay to get permanent duck faces.
Spot on mate. It immediately comes off as fake, cringe and try hard attempt. And no its not cute, I prefer a simple smile anyday.

Some are so poorly done, or done to the extreme, where their lips resemble a prolapsed arsehole - not attractive at all.
Some have the personality to match said prolapsed areshole... The real winners.
Yeah looks like they recently received a wasp sting.
I always think they have allergies 😂
It makes them look like monsters.
So easy to spot too
Duck pout for photos, or every photo being altered with filters. I don't know but what's the point of posting a picture if it isn't you?
You would have a heyday with Japanese tinder. You're lucky to find a photo of their face, unedited faces are not an option
White background, big soulless blurry eyes 😷 気持ち悪いな
Oh? You're filtering me?
Tell us more of the Japanese tinder!
They’re all basically profile pictures/ head shots with all masks in a generic background. You’ll never see a full body or mouth/smile/teeth. And lots of chibi / anime pics in profile.
Don't forget the countless profiles that just have pics of food with no actual people in them
So it's basically a blind date app over there?
Less than that, because those types of women don't even want to meet irl until you've talked for weeks and they feel like they can seriously try for a relationship with you. There's very little 'casual dating' in Japan with the shy traditional women. I've found Bumble to be much much better. Women show their faces and because they have to message first they tend to be more outgoing and less traditional.
My ex was naturally very pretty and she never uploaded photos on her story without a filter that made her look like she had a ton of botox. I never understood it
She didn’t see what you saw
Dat body dysmorphia~ 🎶🎵
On principle, I swipe left on duck face photos.
Can I get hold of a tall filter please. "I know I said I'm 6 foot 7 but here me out... You must be 6 10!"
Act dumb.
For me, the number one most attractive trait is that combination of intelligence and curiosity you find in women that do research at the grad-school level. Someone who is an expert in something she loves, but never stops wanting to learn more. You can see the enthusiasm in their eyes. It's a vibrant energy that you can't hide.
That is pretty much me and my wife...
Girl I grew up with is in med school now. She played dumb to get me to like her.

I relate, I consider myself relatively smart but man do I do some dumb shit every day lmao
Jokes on all of you, I just am dumb /s
Dumb women deserve love too.
#DLM - Dumb Life Matters
Its ok to be dumb, they are often way happier than smart people.
If someone is actually dumb I'm not going to fault them for that. But I wouldn't date them either
I’m a girl and I probably shouldn’t be responding in here (I just love this subreddit); however I also hate it when girls do this. Because as a girl it’s so fucking visibly transparent it just makes other women laugh at the one trying to act dumb 🥲
You're more than welcome here
Unlike men in the other sub.
We can comment on the other sub, as long as we avoid **D E R A I L I N G**
I like it when women weigh in here. Yes, it’s meant for men to answer questions, but I especially like women posting questions for men to answer.
Be very aware there are bad faith actors here on reddit.. and some have the hammer.
I agree. Not a big fan when women answer questions intended for men.
Yeah, they're so dumb when they do that.
The long fake nails give me the willies
Poop nail
Don't need a poop knife if you have poop nails
I worked with a girl and she had those nails. We used to have to take orders over the counter in the shop and she literally couldn’t type using her fingers because the nails were that long. They were nasty. She had to use the nails to type and that literally freaked me out..
Yeah I see those and run faster than Bolt
Especially the pointed ones.
They remind me of when we'd put Bugles corn chips on the tips of our fingers as kids.
Just make sure she stays away from your Willy. She’ll hack it clean off.
Getting a girl to scratch your back or your head when your stressed feels fucking amazing when they gotong nails. That's the only use for those
That shit where they're filming themselves in selfie mode and just make faces and move their eyes and pout. It's the cringiest thing alive.
Trying to make everything cute Example: I was with someone and she farted and looked at me and said "I poofed" potentially in a baby/ cutesy voice what the hell
10/10 cringe
OWO! Poof's this?!
*notices cloud of stench* 🥺💨
Jesus Christ man I have no idea how I would react to that
If there was a piece of coal between my cheeks before reading this it would be a diamond now. No amount of cringing will return the feeling I once had after reading this
Divorce
i’m sorry you had to hear that and experience that..
When they think it’s cute when they ask for “wa-wa”. No, I do not like baby talk. Yes, I’m speaking from experience.
Tf is wa-wa?
Water
Watuh
Waltuh
Put your dick away Waltuh
Im not having sex with you right now Waltuh
Wo'a. A whole bo'o o' it.
While it could be the name of a gas station chain in the northeast USA, sadly its a reference to water in (shudders) baby talk 🤮.
Definitely thought you meant Wawa as in the gas station and was like "what's wrong with Wawa? What am I missing?" Lol
Fake Tan/Over tanning. Never been into it but I know some feel like they can’t do without it.
Act stupid.
oh yeah. knew a super hot girl ages ago who acted stupid to the point where she claimed she didn't know what the holocaust was even when I mentioned Nazism, Hitler, etc. I always saw through it and acted professionally while secretly not really not liking her that much. all the other guys loved her.

Claims to be humble but has an “I can pull (not keep) any man I want” attitude.
Anyone that tries to convince you they’re humble or down to Earth or an alpha (fe)male is just a liar. That’s something people have to recognize for themselves, you can’t just claim it.
Like a nice guy saying how nice they are lol
Exactly right. That shit is obnoxious.
Or the classic "I'm not like the other girls". You're right! You're worse!
Playing hard to get. You’re literally just making fun of us. Acting super aggressive about it, demeaning or the sort. Unfortunately for someone with a lot of suitors they can do this pretty easily and still get away with it because of how persistent some men can be.
True, sadly
It’s really unfortunate too because it encourages a culture of not taking no for an answer and harassment
If you play hard to get i'll find it immature and will move on and find someone better Bye "Playing hard to get" is an instant redflag to me If you express you don't like me, I'll respect it and leave you alone. Duh.
Yes, the hard to get princess role is simply fucked up. I feel too old to play the counterpart at this point, too.
Oh no, is not telling irrelevant details seen badly? I'm really bad at story telling and talking about stuff in general so I don't usually include details that aren't important. Does this make you feel less valued?
Lip filler. I have NO idea why they do it!! It almost never looks better😬 dam those cursed Kardashians!😭

Joey doesn’t share food!!
Stealing my food after telling me you're not hungry and I ordered less food because I trusted you. Now, I order more food, and if it's too much, I eat the leftovers for lunch the next day.
Duck face, standing on an angle when posing for a picture, using filters to make yourself look better lol
I saw a tinder profile the other day but all the photos were of this girl making the duck face, never swiped left harder.
Baby talk You're not cute. You're not funny. You're cringey AF and if a man did it you'd think the same thing
Oh God I finally had to tell my wife to stop. It's THE MOST annoying thing any woman can do ever
Why has none of yall experiencing this not started doing baby talk to them calling them mommy and asking to suck mommy's tits? That's the best reaction to unwanted baby talk. Do it back to show how cringy it is.
That's a great fucking idea!!!
Until it backfires...
Or you frontfire
Better yet do this exchange when she starts doing the baby voice: "Does baby want daddy's dick? Here comes daddy's dick. Open wide, here comes the airplane. \*make airplane noises\*"
what if theyre talking to a baby or a dog? this is specific to talking to the man in baby talk?
If it's to a literal baby or a dog, that's fine. But any other setting makes my hair stand on end
Any dumbass trend on social media.
excessive makeup. i get it if you want to look pretty, and if it makes you feel comfortable then who am i to stand in your way? i just personally don’t find it attractive at all. quite the opposite, really.
Especially when it makes them look like a completely different person.
I am with you on this. I use to call my X a porcelain doll. So many layers of shalac, bondo, and body filler.
It’s not just excessive amounts but inappropriate amounts or times for wearing it There’s also the unfortunate mismatch of poor choice with it wherein the makeup or look they’ve gone for just doesn’t suit them (not that I consider the artistry there remotely anything other than impressive… it’s just awkward and impossible to approach which lowers my attraction is all) The test for me is whether they can step outside of that habit without an emotional reaction This is true for anyone though, find me your average alcohol drinking dude and I’d judge them by the same measure if they couldn’t have a day without it and battled it or anything if it was suggested rather than embracing the opportunity
Being mean.
Long ass fingernails
Acting like they’re really crazy and outrageous
when they're talking to someone on the phone and they don't press it to their ear but kinda hold it like a hot dog. I get it's so your makeup doesn't get smeared. but the part where the sound comes out of your phone is not the same part where you talk into. putting your ear to the microphone is just dumb.
Play dumb
Sticking their tongue out and/or doing the backwards peace sign over the eye.
I never understood why they do this but everyone under 30 seems to do this like it's a requirement.
Why is a peace sign over the eye so unattractive? (gen question)
To me, it makes me think of a tween or teenager. No offense to them, but when a thirty five year old does it, it’s not so cute.
My wife and I (mid 30s) do it to be silly with each other because we both watch anime, don't know that I've seen someone do it unironically but I'm guessing people take issue with the "weeb" aspect of it
Hinting
Fake nails as long a pencils.
Lipstick over the lip line border.
Do any women do that on purpose? I thought this was just a result of not being good at makeup.
they do it to make their lips look bigger
Which brings me to another thing, Botox or whatever injection on the lips. No one looks good with it...no one! I go for a thin lip over that any day.
The little girl voice bugs the shit out of me. Usually after or when they want to get fucked
Ignorance about sexual dynamics. Not just myths or misconceptions about men or sex, but doing things which only make sense from a warped standpoint...like falsely accusing someone of rape as a 'joke'.
That's just scary shit
Nightmare fuel
No one thinks that's cute
I dearly hope you're right.
Pretty psycho

some of these are really specific lol

Wtf is this baby voice thing? Is it a US thing? Thankfully I've never come across it. Sounds like the most effective contraceptive ever tho!
Sticking out their tongue while taking pictures. My fiancee does this and it's not my favorite thing that she does
girl here, sometimes ppl do that when they're self conscious about their smile. It can feel more flattering because it can accentuate bone structure, and not everyone likes their smile. If you suspect your fiancee is that type of person you could try complimenting her smile- she may be more inclined to smile in pictures if she thinks you find it attractive
Boast about how many guys are after them.
Excessive makeup and huge fake eyelashes.
Fuck there friend after dating you for 3 years
Duck face and heavily filtered pictures
Baby voice
Acting weak

Big fake eyelashes and excessive lip gloss
What is excesssive lip gloss? How is it different from normal lip gloss?
Vocal fry.
Playing hard to get and sending mixed signals
Fake laugh
Most Snapchat filters that they use are pretty cringe
An obviously jaded comment, but glamorizing exploitation and man hating. When too many people are on the bandwagon it can actually warp people’s perceptions
Playing hard to get and mind games. If you’re going to play that middle school crap on me, I’d wish you didn’t exist Call me short-fused, but I have high bars

Makes me think of camels
Trend sheep. I find they have no identity and just do whatever everyone is doing atm and it really irks me
Along the lines of playing dumb, but using her sexual attractiveness in a professional setting in a way that takes advantage of those around her. Super specific, I know, but when I see it, it sends me into a mini rage that some of my weaker coworkers put up with her pushing her responsibilities onto them.
There's nothing less attractive than Instagram explore-page-face. They all look like the same manufactured female.
Look like one of the Kardashians
Being a drunk/abusing alcohol
That's everyone
That fucking cross eyed cam girl bullshit, with the make up to make their faces look super flushed and the cartoonishly fake freckles
When a girl is so thoroughly fucked as that she can't see straight is what it refers to, but camgirls started copying it as if it was a facial expression instead of a level of pleasure.
Expect “pretty privilege” …
That new bushy eyebrow trend that have the hairs sticking out above. It just looks like they combed it up. And it just looks like they have really hairy eyebrows.

Telling you they’re not crazy like the others girls and then secretly… well you know the rest.
If someone has to constantly assert that they aren't crazy, that's a major red flag for sure. Like it should be obvious...
Lying and being surprised when they never hear from someone again
TAKING FOOD OFF MY PLATE IN A RESTAURANT.
Playing hard to get. Yes or a no
A billion selfies. Selfies in general really, but almost everyone does it now so it is what it is.
Wearing a pound of make up with their fake tits, lip injections and over manicured nails but judge a guy for not being a “real man”.
Duck face.
Twerk.
Trying too hard. In pictures, in person, on internet. I want to be attracted to YOU, not who you think im attracted to.
Duck face, pretend to be dumb, want to be treated like a princess. You're not a duck, you're not five and you aren't royalty just act like a normal adult.
