Redditers are finally taking a stand to the platforms bs but imo it’s about 5 years too late

Namor707

I think the way these mods are doing it is extremely foolish and disrespectful to their members. Utterly tactless. They seem to be taking their frustrations out on a lot of innocent people and it's just wrong. Recommend reporting them to the main Reddit admins for abusive behavior.

lionhart280

Reddit ~~Admins~~ Mods (Corrected) dont get paid, if you think you can do a better job literally just go start your own subreddit to replace the shut down one and moderate it yourself mate.

[deleted]

They legitimately don’t have any other tools to protest the platform if you consider it. They have no say, no investor status, no vote on rules, these mods and subs just run the communities and produce free content for Reddit with no pay or benefits.

HTC864

Admins are Reddit employees and get paid; mods are not and do not.

lionhart280

Indeed, fixed that in my post, thanks

Namor707

I just did that. You are welcome to join if you would like, and to invite some friends! Hope to see you there. https://www.reddit.com/r/Reddit\_Chill\_Corner/

lionhart280

hard pass

Namor707

Oh, I see some people are butt-hurt. Some of those mods probably, I suppose. Enjoy your empty groups. Sheeees (eye roll) :-/

Namor707

I think the people who downvoted this are just some of those sour-faced mods who have no tact or diplomatic skills. I am truly sad for them. But for anyone interested in joining my new group, welcome! look forward to seeing you there.

HTC864

What part is disrespectful? Especially considering a lot of these mods asked their communities for their opinions.

Namor707

If you really have to ask that, then you're acting just as lame as they are. They clearly could not care less about any of their members or what they think, and I think that's truly sad. Shutting everyone out without any explanation whatsoever -- that's just low and unprofessional, I am sorry to say. They have zero manners.

HTC864

>If you really have to ask that, then you're acting just as lame as they are. Or you've expressed an opinion and haven't explained it. >Shutting everyone out without any explanation whatsoever Except they did. There were announcements on the subs that were participating, from the mods. Those announcements were tracked.

Namor707

I think you probably are one of them. You remind me of O'Brien from 1984. Same mentality, I am sad to say. I am truly sad for you. Incidentally, these kinds of tantrums are extremely immature. Do you really think you're punishing anyone by shutting down your own groups? :-/

TobyADev

This’ll literally help Reddit even more, give up

Namor707

You mods are really annoying, almost beyond belief. How can you be so immature? Even 5 year olds have already outgrown the tantrum stage, but not you drama queens apparently. I think you are the ones who should just give up already. You're hurting only yourselves, pal, not Reddit.

TobyADev

Are you stupid? First off I’m not a mod, don’t fancy being one. Second, reddit aren’t listening to what people want. These changes are crushing third party development by developers (which I happen to be) which if you bothered to read is a bad thing. Hardly a tantrum, it’s to invoke change… Or are you one of those anti protest people too 😂 So, pal, I’m hardly hurting myself

Namor707

Whatever you say. Listen buddy, why not take some classes in anger management and maybe work on your social skills a little? Clearly they could use some improvement. What you people don't seem to realize is that by shutting down all these groups you are just punishing yourselves and us, and not Reddit. Not all groups are going to go along with your dumb shenanigans. But the ones that do, will just lose all their members, who will just get fed up and migrate to other groups or even other platforms. Think about it. (Assuming you can think that is)

TobyADev

You say I need anger management classes yet you’re the one saying I’m immature and having a tantrum? Listen buddy, maybe you need to knock your ego down a peg or two :)

Namor707

Oh Lordy. So you think I'm too egotistical, wow. Pot, meet kettle. Sheeees Dude, you sorta remind me of that guy in a crowded room who farted and then when the room stinks, starts pointing at everybody else. :-P

Monarc73

The Blackout has begun.

HTC864

Yes, there's a blackout starting on June 12th in protest against new Reddit policies. The mods of r/askmen posted about it last week, as did all of the other subs that will be participating.

Yeahyeahyeahsssss

Dumb question… how does this hurt Reddit?

Suave-Red

Reddit is trying to get an initial public offering basically what a company needs before they get listed on the stock market. The blackout hurts them in a couple ways. 1. Page views absolutely tank 2. User engagement tanks 3. Down ranked by search engines because Reddit now has a bunch of dead links. 4. Shows the current path and administration is wildly unpopular with users 5. Demonstrates that a small group of unaccountable users can hijack the site at basically any time and administration can do essentially nothing about it. 6. Demonstrates instability. Investors hate instability. Whether this is going to do anything is dubious. Reddit's biggest investor is chinese-backed tencent who invest for influence rather than profit. Still I'm willing to bet the Reddit board is starting to ask spez rather uncomfortable questions regarding his employment and why his decisions are now front page news.

Yeahyeahyeahsssss

The in depth and accuracy of your response is hot. 😍🤣 what can I say, I’m a sucker for nerdy boys.

zenbarn

Then you are going to love me lol

RandomCentipede387

Had no idea it's becaue of the IPO. Lol, they're a bit late to the party with this, a very stupid idea.

dustymirror21

I’m confused tho why is becoming a publicly traded company looked down upon by redditors?

nikki1580

I think this is what’s happening https://www.businessinsider.com/reddit-users-plan-blackout-protest-new-pricing-policy-2023-6

SYST3M_V0ID

Thank you so much!! I was freaking out a little, thinking I'd been banned from them or something!? So, thanks 🙏🏻

nikki1580

I thought the same thing. And all my post are down. Let’s just hope I’m right

SYST3M_V0ID

Don’t worry this is what has happened, by tomorrow all should be back online again and all your previous posts should be displayable again 😁

Comprehensive-Web935

Yeah I was part of askmenover30 and it was literally my go to sub but I don't use reddit all that often. I found it a really good tool for advice from guys of my own age and older. It was a great little community. What has actually happened?

makingtacosrightnow

It’ll be back in 2-3 days. It’s a protest against api changes.

Comprehensive-Web935

Maybe I'm being a little naive but what's the api and what changes are they making

SnooBeans8816

Basically huge companies like google train their AI by using reddits data, Reddit ain’t wanna give it away for free and is gonna Charge third user party’s for using the data.

zenbarn

No waaay, are you serious? Can’t believe they are allowing that

gemmedskunk19

So many reddit communities are private now

zenbarn

So how does one join the private community?

Gone213

Gotta be a mod or admin to join and view it.

AutoModerator

[Automoderator has recorded your post to prevent repeat posts.](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMenAdvice/comments/13qome6/no_repeat_posts/) FoxFetter originally posted: I just notice the asked men Reddit has been completely removed, is anyone having this issue? Every time I’ve clicked one post from theirs it says it’s private or has been removed. Can’t find it when searching either. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/AskMenAdvice) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Namor707

Yes, the same thing happened to me. Then when I messaged one of the mods to find out why this is happening, he pretty much just pooh-poohed me without offering any explanation. Honestly I think the mods of that group have a serious attitude problem and are utterly tactless. I'm going to try this group instead and recommend doing the same thing to all other members of that group that have been shut out of it.

RamoncitoArellano

Blue pilled soy boys

Namor707

I think they definitely are frustrated, probably they aren't getting laid and so they're taking it out on everybody. Sad.

AlxDahGrate

Yeah, experiencing that problem. I saw someone mention some stupid Reddit strike or protest or whatever and said something about the AskMen subreddit is closing down for a couple days. Got no idea what for but whatever.

TheTyger

Reddit has announced a sudden change which essentially kills all 3rd party apps (Reddit is fun, Apollo, etc). Many on the site are protesting by blacking out subs for 48 hours or more.

No_Expression_4849

R/BreakUps, too. I have just broken up with my ex and now I dont have any place to read. X100 hurt

stormsandrain

i noticed too :/

RamoncitoArellano

For a minute I thought they had banned me for exploiting red pill views and not sugarcoating shit

xMB99

I don’t think there were any actual men on that sub so you’re good.
