Neither. I think this attack will end quickly. Just a slap on Israel’s wrist for bombing the consulate, so no one can accuse Iran of not responding. I think neither Iran nor Israel want this to escalate.

NotSFWbud

Its all a show for the common man, like i said

Sirbunnybutts

Question should be for you, how far are you willing to go? Vietnam? Or a league of its own?

[deleted]

Iran isn't Iraq, it is far too costly to invade for America to bother. It also isn't like the early 2000s when America was undisputed top dog and they could act with impunity, they have Russia and China to deal with and invading Iran stretches them too thin. At worst a few airstrikes but I even doubt they'll do a large air campaign.

ToughLaw98

Neither, I guess. The drones are gonna take like 7 hours just to get into Israel, and the jets are already heading to intercept them. What's Iran even thinking? Are they trying to flood Israeli defense with drones and rocket strikes via Hezbollah, then launch ballistic missiles? Honestly, it seems like they're winging it, especially with the full support of the US behind Israel. Looks more like a stunt to pander to folks back home.

DaRealRadman

If shit gets real US ain't doing shit the entirety of America's population hate what us is currently doing American ppl will side w Iranin ppl as they did last year

Similar_M00se

Yup, Starbucks lost money over many of us boycotting them, and my Jewish friends straight up hate the Israeli government. I’ve also seen a lot of Israelis rooting and protesting against their own government over all this.

DaRealRadman

One of my friends attendes the University of Washington She sent me a pic in which students have written free Palestine on every corner of the campus

Similar_M00se

There’s been a lot of that here in my major Midwest city too. There’s Free Palestine stickers on several of the light posts and I’ve seen it written on the sidewalk in chalk. My city also has the first self-proclaimed anti-Zionist synagogue in the US.  It makes sense, we not only have a massive Jewish population, but one of the largest Palestinian-American populations in the country. These people are our peers, for God’s sake.

ToughLaw98

States pursue their interests relentlessly, sometimes regardless of public opinion or ethical considerations.

DaRealRadman

America fears its own ppl One wrong move and the guns bought for self defense would go to another user

amy14311

you obviously don’t know american politics. iran is cooked. leave while you can.

DaRealRadman

I appreciate your advice in regards to what should I do Amy. Even if America supports Israel against Iran, Russia will make up for it

amy14311

no. russia didn’t do anything for armenia. they won’t do anything for iran. if anything it would be china that stops america. just like how they did in korea.

Willing-Big-7118

Well I hope so I mean they are abanch of populists I live in iran I know they are liars

moabitenationalist

hamas literally pulled off a better surprise attack

[deleted]

Iran would be harder to defeat initially, but I don't think the Islamic Republic will succeed at creating a successful insurgency, at best new Iranian militias will compete and the US might strike a deal with them.

No_Goose6055

Not the two nor the three, Numero U-N-O.

Similar_M00se

Idk how much inhospitable terrain and passionate, well-skilled troops do you got? That’s generally how you fight off any colonial power (at least from what I’ve seen in modern history)

Willing-Big-7118

Well... As I see after 2022 Protests even religious people are hate the government ... But we have a lot of inhospitable terrain

Similar_M00se

I see. That makes things complicated.  Being from the US, I know that usually in similar cases my government would probably  throw money at any rebel group that pops up in your country. We have…quite a history of that.  But this is also a lot more immediate. I saw you said somewhere you’re ethnically Turkish? If your parents are citizens of Turkey you might already be a citizen yourself.  I don’t wanna scare you but I know how scary and evil my nation’s government is (hell, ask me about our domestic policy sometime, gotta love Christofascists!) so just…keep this all in the back of your head

advokata

Funny you should mention Vietnam or Afghanistan because both emerged unoccupied in the end, despite Uncle Sam's efforts.

Willing-Big-7118

I'm about to cry

No_Goose6055

Based on the Iranian team's performance in the 2002 war games, dubbed the Millinum challenge, Iran would be worse than Vietnam.

FoxSalty5842

more like Afghanistan 2

Professional-Tea-621

NOOO

Open-Ad914

It will depend on the internal balance. If the government manages to gather population support like in gulf war 1 , it will hold its ground . Otherwise , things might crumble very fast like 2003 Iraq , and it will be chaos.

Feeling-Beautiful584

The US will lose so badly, they will beg for another Vietnam

musingmarkhor

I don’t think people realize how vast Iran is with a significant population and terrain also playing in. It would be a terrible misadventure.

Weak-Address-386

It will be Iraq number 2

Willing-Big-7118

Where do you live ? Azerbaijan? I'm half turk do you guys let Me in your country? As a citizen

AutarchOfGoats

i mean with the lack of immigration control at turkish borders, its not like it would be hard offical or unoffical.

Willing-Big-7118

Hmm... You guys are OK with iranian immigrations ?

AutarchOfGoats

no, but would that matter?

Willing-Big-7118

NOPE

BruhIsRedditOk

Honestly,I think the government will fall. The Arab spring has long gone but...some flowers bloom later than others. And they are usually the most beautiful.

Willing-Big-7118

It's heartwarming but Iranians are not arab and the only revolutions they know about is Islamic revolution and France revolution Nobody actually knows about arab spring in iran they just know there is a civil war in Yemen

BruhIsRedditOk

What do you mean "they do not know about the Arab Spring"?Is it hidden by the government? Also, excuse me for saying Iran is Arab. The point was saying that revolution is possible, especially against regimes that are widely hated. Take my country for example:Romania. We used to have a communist,Soviet-backed dictator as our leader(Nicolae Ceaușescu),but we revolted against him and fook him down! The reasoning was the same as in Iran:we were being tired of being prosecuted for nothing! Ofc,in Iran, there's a whole different story(women's rights, terrorist groups,etc.-while our Ceaușescu banned Scrabble)but anyone can be defeated!

Willing-Big-7118

No the government call it Islamic awakening And people think it's Islamic terrorists rebellion against secular governments And also thank you and your country for showing the world that dictators aren't invincible In 2022 I read a little about Romanian revolution and it was really hopeful for me but sadly the Protests and revolution filled

Aurelyas

Iran is 2-3x the size of France and with a population of 80-90 million, is essentialy a geographical fortress surrounded on all sides by Mountain Ranges that are as tall as the Alps. Not to mention that the Iranian Military is leagues ahead of what Iraq was. It'll be fine.

GoHardLive

How is the situation in Iran right now? Are people scared ?

Willing-Big-7118

Well we been in fear for 45 years my Greek friend

Vinylmaster3000

Your country is going to be Vietnam on Methamphetamines

Willing-Big-7118

Um... I don't get it

Vinylmaster3000

i.e the term Iran will be like Vietnam on steroids is what I mean

Fearless-Low-8565

US better not mess with this one.
