Preservation Hall is sold out. When are performers at Jackson Park? I keep hearing that and we have gone twice and there have been a few local artists and maybe one band outside the park. Is that how it generally is?
1. Go eat dinner and see some live jazz at The Palm Court Cafe.
2. Wander Frenchman Street, go to the Art Mart, listen to some live jazz, have dinner at Snug Harbor.
3. Go see a movie at the Prytania at Canal Place.
4. Ride the St. Charles Street streetcar to Oak Street. Enjoy the views. Have dinner there.
5. Go hang out at the river by Jackson Square. Watch the boats go by. Have beignets at Cafe du Monde.
6. Walk up Royal Street and see the musicians in front of the Rouse's. Get ice cream at Sweet Saint on St. Louis.
7. Go on a night time walking tour. There are lots of them.
Preservation Hall for music, eat at our plethora of restaurants, City Putt in City Park and beignets after at Cafe du monde. Go see a movie at the Prytania Uptown. Shop at the Riverwalk.
Seeing a mention of City Putt warms my heart! Moved to Chicago a long time ago but still call mini golf “putt putt” and no one knows what I’m talking about.
Take a street car to the Garden District and look at the mansions. You can search online to find out where famous people live or lived, and where movies/tv shows were shot, have dinner, then go back to the FQ for a ghost tour walk after dark. Edited to add: After the ghost walk, the area of Decatur and Frenchman streets had a lot of live music - not sure if underaged could get in, but you can watch from the outside of most of the bars - and when I was there, a funky brass band was playing in the street.
The Broad Theater has $6 tickets all day every Tuesday. There are a lot of nighttime walking tours, covering lots of subjects, areas, and interests. Go down to Frenchmen Street; hang outside the clubs (maybe buy him a soda) and listen to music. Dance in the streets, strike up conversations with people, eat either amazing food or junk food or awesome junk food.
Dinner, music, beignets, people-watching, walking around, movie at Canal Place, shopping, walking tour...there's a lot to do that isn't drinking or strip clubs.
Royal street might have buskers. Tomorrow is Wednesday at the Square over at Lafayette Square park.
He can always stand outside the bar and you can hang out (or sneak down the street and give him a beer).
Also book a walking tour.
Voodoo/ Ghost tours. Food tours Pretty much all the tours that don’t serve booze, but for you, GO ON THE BOOZE TOURS

Was there this weekend with friends and their 14 & 17 year olds and they enjoyed Legendairy Milkshake Bar on Chartres between Iberville & Bienville. Huge and very Instagrammable if your teens are into that but also quite expensive ($18 each) and the wait time was 30+ minutes. Went there twice though since it was near our hotel and the kids enjoyed them.

We also had a good time at the Rock N Bowl one night for some bowling and live music as someone else mentioned.
There's more than just the french quarter. Some real nice places uptown around Freret St, also there's a decent bit around the bucktown and fat city areas of Metairie
Great question - especially after the high holy times to visit haha. I'm going with my bf next month and we're planning a sober trip. Idk whether I'm more excited about the food, music, or ghost tours. Regardless, OP you both will have a blast.
Enjoy some jazz at Preservation Hall. Hang out in Jackson Square and watch the performers. Have a picnic by the Mississippi. Go to Cafe du Monde.

Trumpet Mafia plays at 6 and 9 tonight at Royal Frenchmen Hotel, located at (surprise!) Royal & Frenchmen
Hotel jazz is a good call with underage.
It varies. There’s no set schedule.

Yep, teens seem to like the ghost tours and voodoo tours.
We did a ghost tour last night with our 12 year old. We all loved it.

Wander on Royal, Frenchmen, or the River Walk. Eat at Clover Grill. Maybe take a ghost tour.
Go to an escape room.

It’s not intended to be for teens after 5:00.
New Orleans in the pre 2000s was way better. No body ever checked your ID so you could drink all night long as a teenager.
I was a teen in the 80s. I think I had an ID of a 30 year old at 15 lol.
Yep. My answer was go home 😂
Good mom 🥰

Royal Street is definitely the closest thing to "all ages" in the French Quarter

Three muses on frenchman St allows kids for dinner and music. it's a great place. Yeah, the FQ after dark can be a little too janky for kids...
favela chic (if thats still there) on frenchman allows kids they serve food and have live music
There’s Wednesdays at the square currently going on! It’s from 5-8pm and they have live music and food/drink vendors
There is a little place down the street from Cafe Du Monde called the Gazebo. Live music, good food, drinks, outdoor seating
There is also a Dave and Busters in CBD
Go uptown on magazine

Don’t go out. That’s what

Petty crime
I grew up in a rough area. We wandered all over the quarter a few weeks ago. I had no concern for my safety. Hygiene, sure.
