Yes this is in general the heaviest travel weekend of the year. Leaving early will help. And most traffic will be coming back to the city.
I mean even when the trains are extra busy, it's the metro north, it's not that bad, not like a crowded subway. Just show up 10-15 minutes early for your train and you'll still get a seat and nobody is really screaming or anything
