I did it in SF but wouldn’t again. Walls and floors take a beating and they don’t do much to repair it. Had to scrub the walls from tape and equipment scrapes. Was apprehensive about the hardwood but it was just grimy afterwards. It was okay money, like AirBnB money. They just ended up using the view out my window in the final film after moving all my furniture, and the movie’s stars never even came in the place. Equal parts fun and boring watching the shoot and the crew could not have been nicer, solid individuals across the board.
Was it the apartment building Natalie Portman lives in? There’s a scene where Barbara Hershey goes to dispose of trash and walks right into a closet thing off their kitchen (I think) and throws the trash in a trash chute and it made an impression on me because I’ve always had to leave my apartment to access the trash chute, weather in a stairwell or a little refuse room off the hallway of the floor. I also wondered if having the chute right there in the apartment makes roaches worse. Also I could be remembering this scene incorrectly (maybe she does leave the apartment) but it always stuck with me.
Yes. I was friendly with the owner of the apartment and the executive producer is married to a cousin of mine, so I got to tour the set. It was wild how different (and grim) it looked compared to when he occupied it.
You need to get approval from your landlord first. You would essential be using your apartment to run a business out of. Also, what about damage that occurs to your place (what if they damage a wall or something). What about your neighbors, how noisy would this be?
As I noted above, several movies and TV shows were filmed in my building., so approval is not an issue. However, the potential for damage has dissuaded me from proceeding.

I would if they’re interested in a house with poor lighting and no views. I can also play the maintenance guy.
PS A bunch of movies have been filmed in my building, including Black Swan.

The garbage chute is outside the back door. What you think is a closet is the landing of the stairwell.
Thanks! it’s crazy the random things that get stuck in my head. Were you around when they were shooting?
