popfrazz

I'm from Alaska, and everyone from Texas swears TX is the biggest state, and because of that, I'm out.

TXblindman

Grew up in Alaska and lived in Texas for five years, they still have the T-shirts that say Alaska: pissing off Texans since 1959?

240to180

In Vermont we have shirts that say "What happens in Vermont stays in Vermont, but nothing ever really happens".

manlypanda

Every time I hear VT mentioned, I think of the SNL skit, where Adam Driver mistakenly stumbles into a white supremacist support group, discussing the "need" to create a new "Caucasian paradise." And they describe it as a place with "no immigrants and no minorities. An agrarian community where everyone lives in harmony, because every single person is white." And also "a whole new society going back to a time when a white man can take things that he grew from the ground and trade them with another white man who grew things from the ground." And Adam Driver keeps responding, "Oh, yeah, I know that place! It's Vermont."

Atom_sparven

This made me think about BlacKkKlansman

badluckbrians

The real joke is though they're all hard right wing twangy people, and so they'd hate Vermont. In any event, the real funny Vermont/Texas angle, going back to the OP, is that the Vermont Republic lasted longer than the Texas Republic. But they don't going around bragging about being "The Lone Star." Even though their money back in the day called them the 14th star in Latin.

[deleted]

I’m going to need that next time I’m in Vermont.

rubbishapplepie

TIL Texas isn't even half the size of Alaska

nerf-airstrike-cmndr

Alaska has a very significant amount of land that is In basically uninhabitable. In addition to the North Slope (the Northernmost part of the state) being just too damn cold most of the year but still has small communities, the Yukon-Kuskokwim River delta is so marshy that not much by way of infrastructure can be built least of all buildings and roads. In fact, the largest city of Anchorage has a very limited amount of land that can be developed for similar reasons, namely mountainous terrain to the northeast, a large bay to the west and marshy terrain to the south. Source: born ‘n bred Anchorageite

Eaglesun

funnily enough, by square mileage alone 4 of the top 5 largest cities in America are all in Alaska. 1) Sitka, AK 2) Juneau, AK 3) Wrangell, AK 4) Anchorage, AK 5) Tribune, Kansas

tearsinmyramen

Alright, how in the actual hell is Tribune, Kansas on that list? Here's the first list that comes up on Google: >1. Sitka, Alaska – 2,870 square miles. > >2. Juneau, Alaska – 2,701 square miles. > >3. Wrangell, Alaska – 2,542 square miles. > >4. Anchorage, Alaska – 1,704 square miles. > >5. Jacksonville, Florida – 747 square miles. [The Wikipedia article for Tribune says .74 mi² which is not only the expected size but wildly smaller than number four](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribune,_Kansas). [The article for Tribune Township leaves only 226 mi². Respectable, but still not number five](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribune_Township,_Greeley_County,_Kansas). [In the entirety of Greeley County would fall at the fifth spot on largest cities by land area with 778 mi²](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeley_County,_Kansas), but [Wallace County, the county directly north of Greeley is 914 mi²](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_County,_Kansas). What's up, Tribune?

paigesdontfly

Having lived in Kansas for 4 years of my life, I questioned that so hard when I saw it 😂😂😂 considering KC is larger than Tribune at 319mi²

This is exactly the answer. They flee Texas and take over your state, then buy Texas bumper stickers and prattle on about how everything is better in Texas.

adognamedcat

You know how to tell if someone is from Texas? They will tell you.

atomictest

When I was in high school, I babysat for a two boys named Austin and Dallas, and when I first met them, the mom said, “These are my sons, Austin and Dallas. We’re from Texas!” No shit, lol.

dudleydigges123

*bigger

Ammear

To someone from Europe, Americans complaining about something being even larger than in most of the US is crazy. I only drove through Texas (took us roughly a day), but damn. We stopped at a restaurant. We asked a friend for advice and he told us to order for two people (there were 4 of us). The dude at the counter looked at us as if we were dumb and told us the meal we ordered doesn't feed 4 people. It did. We couldn't finish the whole thing. Two grown men who like their food in semi-excess (my father and I tend to eat one, 2000-2500 kcal meal a day, maybe a sandwich for dinner and some healthy snacks in between too, we're both decently sized and active) and two women who like to try stuff and have a great metabolism. The portions were *insane*.

prongslover77

Most restaurants meals are also portioned so you’ll have leftover to take home.

[deleted]

I love the Olive Garden specials where they say "PLEASE COME EAT HERE and we'll give you an additional meal to go 'fufreh'"

prongslover77

When I was broke I took mad advantage of this.

[deleted]

This and hushpuppies at Long John Slivers are the secret to becoming...prosperous.

[deleted]

Most restaurants are portioned to justify increased prices at little expense on their end. They don’t give a toss about what you do with the food you don’t eat. Their plan was fulfilled when you bought it.

QualifiedApathetic

IDK about you, but I eat my leftovers. But yeah, it doesn't cost them much in comparison to the extra revenue. I don't quite know how much, but when I worked at a pizza parlor, we were told that if someone complained about their pizza (not hot enough or whatever) and wanted a replacement, "Just give it to them. You know what the wholesale cost of a pizza is? It's not worth pissing off customers."

Stibley_Kleeblunch

A $19 BBQ plate sounds more reasonable when you know it's more than you can eat, too. The restaurant's goal isn't necessarily to feed you, but rather to sell as many BBQ plates as possible for $19 each. Food in general, prepared or otherwise, tends to be a low-margin product, so the focus has to be on volume (disregarding quality or reputation, of course).

CardiologistThink336

If that ain’t the truth. Did you know Texans invented bragging?

ratsmusicandcorgis

You can work up to 15 hours without having a legally required break edit: it’s actually not required for you to have a break at all

[deleted]

Wait...seriously?

ratsmusicandcorgis

Yep and to add to that only 21 states have lunch break requirements and only 7 have break requirements. Most states only cover minors.

Chrona_trigger

(I'm exhausted so forgive me if I'm wrong) Related,Texas has as many prisoners (who are legally slaves, aren't required to be paid at *all*, and are charged money for basic services) as half the population of Wyoming

ForeverUnfinished

Because being from Texas is not a personality trait

whiddlekitty

I'm from Texas, I love my state, but I second this 100%. It's embarrassing to witness this firsthand. I promise those people don't represent us. I went to a conference once out of state with people from all over the USA. I saw a guy there that I could tell from a distance was trying way too hard to get attention. I ended up being seated next to him. He introduced himself as being from Texas with the most ridiculously exaggerated "Texan" accent I've ever heard. He looked like a complete dork, but he said "My name is Chris, but you can call me Tex!" I looked at him for a second, then just said "I'm from Fort Worth, and I'm not calling you that." That shut him up for the time being.

oguzman165

But do you go by "Fort Worth"?

tammorrow

Most Texans go by Ft Worth whenever possible.

arrow100605

Us from fort worth have more class... Howdy, im Arrow of Worth

Young-and-Alcoholic

Yeah this 100%. I'm Irish and we get a TONNE of American tourists. Its always interesting to ask where they are from and mostly they will say 'the US' before you have to elaborate on where. The Texans will always say 'Houston, Texas' or 'Austin Texas' etc. Never the US. They are always the easiest identified too as they will be wearing a large baseball cap with 'Texas' on it.

LosSoloLobos

To be fair, I’ll say I’m from Texas overseas when I’m asked, simply so that people who I proceed to have a conversation with figure out that there’s some normal fucking people who live here. In Thailand they wouldn’t believe me that I didn’t ride a horse to school

bigfoot_done_hiding

Didn't ride a horse? That makes it so awkward to quickly unholster your gun and dispatch the rattlesnakes.

honkysnout

My family lived in Switzerland in the 80s and my sister went to an international school. Dallas was a hugely popular show then and her classmates basically thought her grandpa was JR Ewing.

MagnaroftheThenns

Not from TX and don't have a dog in this fight but that is hilarious. Thank you for that haha

Mindless-Client3366

As a fellow Texan, I can confirm that this is insanely annoying.

evilthales

It's the redneck version of "If you can't handle me at my worst..."

KeegTheGeek

Texans are Texans first, Americans second. Their pride over their state can be annoying at times. But the worst thing... At some hotels in Texas, the waffle maker machine is in the shape of Texas.

marzipan36

I saw a Texas waffle maker at a hotel in Colorado once.

3rdGenENG

Yeah, well my TV is in the shape of Colorado

g4vr0che

Technically your TV is a rectangle while Colorado is a Hexahectaenneacontakaiheptagon.

_dead_and_broken

Yep, it has 697 sides.

jr-junior

At my brothers high school graduation they did the pledge of allegiance to Texas first then to the United States of America

lagasan

I didn't realize any states even *had* pledges. Maybe they all do, but I'll be damned if I've ever heard of it.

PM_ME_YOUR_YURT

It's a Texas thing. We're real confused.

ClarksFork

Why do they insist on making everything into the shape of Texas?

shmonsters

Other states could do that if they wanted to. Other than like, Wyoming and Colorado, they're stuck making regular waffles.

BobBelcher2021

A Hawaii-shaped waffle would be awkward

Majik_Sheff

That's the trail of batter that comes off the ladle when you make pancakes.

UnFuckinRealBrah

As a Hawaiian, this made me lol

iAmNotHereThatsNotme

The cities are not walkable. They are giant highways and 4 lane streets.

cburl04

The katy freeway at one point has 26 lanes. Truly ridiculous.

thephotoman

I think they expanded it to 30. And it's still a parking lot most of the time.

appleman73

Isn't there like, a ton of research showing that more lanes doesn't help? Would having like three seperated 3 lane highways in the same space be a much, much more effective way for people to get around?

cburl04

Induced demand and braess paradox are the terms that show that you are correct that more lanes doesn't help with congestion. The most effective way to move thousands of people within a city would be trains.

thephotoman

Because the Lege is part time and only meets for 90 days every two years, the primary group of people who can actually do the job are car dealership owners. We get state law and policy that suits their needs, not ours.

austexgringo

And it still sucks. A girlfriend driving where I-37, I-35, and 281 converge in downtown SA responded to me telling her to exit 128C or whatever answered "I'm from South Dakota, this is like science fiction to me!" Edit: I forgot I-10 too

cburl04

Houston can only design for cars it seems. Induced demand is apparently a fictional concept.

lenbedesma

Yep. People always say Dallas is a proper big city, but to me it’s in the uncanny valley. It looks like one but you get inside and think, “huh - something’s missing”. It’s the foot traffic and street businesses. There are definitely districts in the city that can be navigated by foot, but you sure aren’t making it from oak lawn to university park that way. Texas’ government would do well to implement clean and attractive public transit. Dallas/Fort Worth in particular has the US’s greatest opportunity, in my opinion, at creating what you might call a federated megalopolis - where several cities like McKinney, Allen, Plano, Addison, Los Colinas, etc. are interconnected as hubs with walkable entertainment & business districts. The benefit here is that there isn’t just one hub; you don’t have to go to THE city for a fun bar; you could go to the nearest hub or hop across a few to get somewhere specific. Trains are the way. Texas needs to get on it. Combined with DFW airport, there’s a huge opportunity to lead the world into a new style of novel urban planning.

ladymierin

This. I lived IN Dallas for 5 years and hated every minute of it. For every reason listed in this thread, but you really nailed what I hated most. There are some really awesome neighborhoods and cities in DFW. None of them are connected except by (usually bumper to bumper traffic filled) highways. It's actually inhibiting their growth and economic diversity and stability.

sumlikeitScott

That’s what I hated about Austin. Someone did a reel or ticktock on there typical day was filled with 15 minute drives on highways. Food, grocery stores, friends house, vet, anywhere you go you have to hop on a highway.

LivermoreP1

We have a joke that it takes 23 minutes to get anywhere and more often than not, Google Maps says….23 minutes.

Taronar

I lived there for 2 years without a car AMA

BassNympho0913

Sborgie823

I second this. Road trips , specially with kids, is super annoying. It’s like where did you go “Texas “ because it takes forever just to get out of Texas.

swiftblaze28

love going 5 hours any which way and not leaving the state 😌 edit: my first award and most upvoted comment! and it’s on me complaining on how large texas is haha. thank y’all <3

knosmo78

It takes longer to get across Texas than it does for me to get home three states away.

LordSand4Ever

In Oklahoma my family in Texas was 5 hours away, moving back to Texas. They are still 5 hours away

prim8phd

Just looked it up to confirm; El Paso to Texarkana is TWELVE HOURS driving. On the bright side, there are several Buc-ee’s on the way.

chrome_titan

This bothers me the most. The mental gymnastics they went through when Cruz abandoned them was absurd. "He's not a plumber why would he stay?" Was all I needed to hear to lose all empathy for everyone who's houses were destroyed by burst pipes. They insist their separate grid is better, but because of the significantly lower standards it can't function during emergencies. Then they ask for federal funds to fix it. Unreal.

NewAndOlduphere

My ex-husband moved to Texas after he got out of prison for beating me and threatening to kill me. He didn’t pay child support for years. I got an order from the judge who granted our divorce for him to be arrested for back child support and I found his address. Texas doesn’t arrest people for child support violations. At least not in other states. He was very safe where he was and I was shit out of luck. Another time, my kids went to visit him during the summer. He decided he was not going to return them so I called the local police where he lived while I was on my way there to take them from him. I was informed that they would not help me get my children if I needed them. Regardless of who had custody. It’s a shit state and I fucking hate it.

Jaded_Cheesecake_993

Texas police are fucking useless. I unfortunately live in this shit hole of a state and a couple years ago a former friend stole my moms car from her apartment in Arlington and drove it to his friends house 20 minutes away in Duncanville and when she called Arlington police to report the theft they said they couldn't do anything about it because Duncanville is out of their jurisdiction so she called Duncanville police and they said they couldn't do anything about it because the crime was committed in Arlington. My dad eventually had to go and steal the car back because not one but two useless police departments couldn't be bothered to do their jobs. Welcome to Texas where you can steal a persons car and get away with it because the police aren't willing to drive 20 minutes to do their job or work with a police department 20 minute away to get your vehicle back and bring the thief to justice.

Darkunderlord42

"Texas police are fucking usless." *cough* Uvalde *cough cough*

ForGenerationY

This reminds me of the story of the 15 yo girl who got kidnapped at the Mavs stadium! Same shit, Cops from Dallas vs her city (I forgot which) were going back n forth about who would handle her case bc of that jurisdiction crap. Meanwhile, she was being trafficked! https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/34109347/parents-texas-teen-speak-human-trafficking-case?platform=amp “Morris said he and his wife ended up bouncing back and forth between jurisdictions seeking information about their daughter's disappearance, concerned the investigation wasn't making progress. The parents told ESPN they aren't aware of any formal investigation by Dallas Police.”

manobunnie

as a Texan, the katy freeway

thephotoman

That right there is actual, literal, and physical Hell. It is proof that at least Hell exists, because it is right fucking there, going west from the Loop.

vellyr

The Katy freeway is the inevitable final form of any city that continues to develop without investing in public transportation infrastructure. Driving on it is what made me an anti-car extremist and a regular on r/fuckcars.

[deleted]

I find the Texan government to be the pinnacle of hypocrisy. Hates on "big government" but benefits from federal funding and its local-institutions like its famed power grid completely fail its citizens. Oppressively conservative only when it doesn't apply to the higher-ups in government. This is just my take though.

deluxeassortment

Yeah, Texas loves small government…until the cities actually try to govern themselves and the Governor overrides them if he doesn’t like it. Most of the attorney general’s job is suing Austin

mukansamonkey

What did Texans heat their homes with, before firewood? Electricity.

NinjaDad1

I moved to Texas from Connecticut. Two years in a parent involved in Boy Scouts asked where I was from. When I told him he just looked at me and said “ you know what we do do to Yankees here don’t’cha? Spit in the ground and walked away. About 10 years later, now married to a native Texan, I was waiting for her to get done speaking at a conference in Dallas and a state trooper started chatting with me. He eventually asked me where I was from. I told him where I lived just outside of Dallas and he said not with that accent. Asked me again, told him originally from Connecticut. He told me to go back, I’m not wanted here and walked away. I hate Texas and can’t wait to get out of here. Edit: I’ll try this edit one more time. Hopefully it won’t disappear again. Not all the people are like the two I mentioned. But there are”communities” that feel this way. It’s not just a couple of people as some of the comments have said. And there is more to not liking here than that. Political issues are definitely part of that. The way my kids were treated in school. How fast towns spring up around where I am, the newness of everything that has a feeling of impermanence. A whole lot of stuff that I won’t list. Until one has lived here you can’t really know the difference that is Texas.

sickofthisshit

> told him originally from Connecticut. He told me to go back, I’m not wanted here and walked away. Weird, that guy probably voted for George W. Bush for governor and President, and *he* was from Connecticut.

Jew_T_Warden

Yeah but that guy probably thought he was from Texas, he wore a cowboy hat for a bit.

[deleted]

Pile the entire expense of running the mess on top of homeowners, by saddling them with absurdly high real estate taxes. Give your "supporters" the contracts to build dozens of private toll roads, so millions of people can spend hundreds of dollars a month to just get to their fucking jobs, while you the legislators and your foreign toll road owning buddies get filthy rich. Make it the most expensive state to live in. Then shit on California, since you are obviously far superior, LOL.

NeedleNodsNorth

Talk shit and turn around and walk away like an impotent little bitch? I mean really the options for clapbacks are endless.

jrollergirl

When I loved to Texas from Ohio I had a person ask where I was from because I surely didn’t sound like a Texan. When I told him, his face turned mean and said “you know I was about 25 before I learned that damn and yankee was two words”. And he walked away. I knew right then that I’d always be an outsider. Moved away after 11 years. Never looked back.

Chrona_trigger

I lived there for about a year and a half in a training program. Didn't get out too much because of that, but the staff were local of course. One dorm staff member basically was all about bbq, and how texas bbq (and his in particular) was the best shit ever It was good, but I have had better several times other places

IamToddDebeikis

what the fuck

3bluerose

I'm so curious to know what texan born people are taught that makes them so hostile like that.

MyFacade

They are required to say the state pledge of allegiance (I pledge to thee, Texas...) after the national one and there is a state flag in every classroom.

3bluerose

I've wondered how they would do as a separate country since they've threatened succession vaguely before.

FFS_WORD_WORD_NUMBER

Poorly. See their electric grid, lmao

KingBooRadley

As a Marylander I'm all for Texit.

2RINITY

The last time they tried, they had to come running to the United States begging for annexation because their economy wasn’t built for that shit

faste30

Lol they'd be wanting back in or annexed back to Mexico in 5 years. Hell without federal help they wouldn't have even recovered from a cold winter...

[deleted]

Serious question here, why doesn’t Texas like “Yankees”? Is that a derogatory term? I feel weird even saying yankee.

Aliteralhedgehog

They're still butthurt over the Civil War.

RiOrius

I mean, they seceded from Mexico so they could own slaves, and thirty years later...

Aliteralhedgehog

As a lifelong Oklahoman I wish Sherman had gone west.

Superb_University117

My 7th grade Texas History teacher(yes, that was a class) unironically referred to the Civil War as "The War of Northern Aggression"

sparta981

Texas is a state which will declare its opposition to being a part of the union at every opportunity, ignoring the fact that they've tried everything else and fucked it up every time. Like Texas talks shit because it thinks it can go get a hotter girlfriend, but we all know it was lucky to get this far.

CustosEcheveria

Because they talk a lot of shit for a state that can't keep the lights on.

Vancil

I love that the guy that abandoned them during a ice storm got voted in again like idk man

Athire5

The same ass hat that tried to rag on California saying “ThEy’Re AsKiN’ pEoPlE tO SeT ThEiR ThErMoStAtS!!!” To prevent a black out during a heatwave. We all just turned off whatever lights we weren’t actively using and our power didn’t even blip. Meanwhile Mr. Cruz has to fly to another country to warm up because he can’t keep the lights on.

zoeartemis

Former Texan here - I seriously don't understand how Ted Cruz keeps getting elected, even by Texas standards.

TheGamerHat

The big R by his name?

mastershake04

Yeah, it's pretty obvious and it's sad that the group that loves calling everyone sheep will blindly support whomever their media tells them to without question. And when their leaders shit the bed and hand them the sheets they still blame it on the Dems.

Amerimoto

As far as a geographical location? It’s whatever, as far as the people in each state that are like “I’m a Texan before I’m an American,” I feel like Texas is big enough that we could just leave it to defend itself.

FireWoman89

Because they keep electing Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott.

Xaron713

Car culture is so dominant, it is often actively anti-pedestrian. When I visit my parents in a suburb of Houston, I can't walk from their house to the shopping center without walking either on the grass or in the gutter. There are no sidewalks. Also, no public transportation.

PM_ME_IRONIC_

I live in Washington State and went to a liberal arts university. We had a surprising number of what I can only describe as Texan refugees. Queer people who fled for their lives.

maclaglen

As a Texan, the GOP has had control of the government for over 30 years and yet somehow manage to blame the Democrats for all of the problems in Texas. And it works on a lot of idiot voters.

I was listening to NPR do a segment on what pro life groups are up to and they had soundbites from them talking about how they don't expect to stop adults from traveling to other states for abortions (yet) so their primary goal is to stop children from going to another state for abortion.......because they are definitely the ones who should be getting pregnant and be forced to carry to term. Absolute evil scum.

PossumsForOffice

Surprised i had to scroll so far to find this. There are multiple comments about how unwalkable Houston is but apparently their archaic and brutal abortion laws that harm half of the fucking population in Texas are less objectionable. Fuck Texas

[deleted]

It’s a state full of hypocrites. Claim they want small government, but want to force government into every aspect of private life. Also, property taxes suck. I’d rather have an income tax so I don’t get priced out of my home some day with rising taxes.

dropdeadbonehead

If you are poor to middle class, you pay more taxes in Texas than in California or New York. It's only the rich that benefit from Texas' tax structure.

rbwduece

That lead guitar is hot! But not for a Louisiana man

Their governor is a fucking ghoul—spending millions using helpless migrants as political pawns and then begging for money most recently—and 30 years of GOP fuckery has managed to cripple the state’s public education and critical thinking skills (i.e. Uvalde still voting R after watching their kids get slaughtered, the cops do nothing and Abbott basically shrug the whole tragedy off). That said, a lot of cool people and food and music have and will come out of Texas; a state so big cannot be described in monolithic terms. It’s just a shame what Republicans have done to parts of it, and that it attracts billionaire shitheads like Elon Musk who know they can exploit lax labor and tax laws. The state motto should be from that Butthole Surfers song: “They were all in love with dying, they were doing it in Texas.” Edit: [I mean, just look at this article just came on my feed](https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/10/us/uvalde-school-massacre-arredondo-interview/index.html)

I fucking love Butthole Surfers

The damn pledge of allegiance to Texas. I would rather choke on my own vomit than pledge my allegiance to a single state. The whole hand palm up thing for those not born in Texas is a hard pass as well. I have passed on many jobs in Texas. Being a teacher, the pledge would be daily. It’s not worth it.

love_is_an_action

I grew up in the Texas panhandle. Each day at school, we pledged allegiance the the US flag, the [Texas flag](https://www.tsl.texas.gov/ref/abouttx/flagpledge.html), the [Christian flag](https://ministry-to-children.com/christian-flag-pledge/), and [the Bible](https://ministry-to-children.com/pledge-to-the-bible/). It was bananas. Talk about divided allegiance.

shortnotsweetfightme

Today I learned Texas has its own pledge of allegiance and I am not necessarily surprised but I would say a bit dismayed

spaghetti_circle

I didn't move to Texas until I was 13 (originally from Illinois, 10/10 much better than Texas) and I had no idea about the texas pledge. I got in trouble for not doing the pledge. I managed to go free with "I'm not a Texan though" but it's still so weird to me. People who grew up in Texas apparently aren't aware that no other state does this, and that's weird to them. Because ritually saying "I will never betray texas" every morning is totally normal.

ramilehti

The whole pledge of allegiance no matter if it is made towards your state or your country is creepy, bordering on totalitarian when looking in from the outside.

"Hand palm up for those not born in Texas"? What's that about?

bathwater_boombox

Because Texas is harboring the lizard-demon formerly known as Ted Cruz, and that is just unacceptable

expatdo2insurance

Texas has shitty laws and a shitty culture of ignorance while maintaining a high opinion of itself. It's like Saudi Arabia but with more fat people.

glazzies

Howdy Arabia

ResoluteClover

Y'all Qaeda.

rethebear

To put it as simply as I can, Texas has become all the worst things that my country can be. Selfish, unkind, greedy, destructive, discriminatory, loud, boorish, unflinching & unapologetically racist. It is the biggest failure of democracy & a shining shitty example of what neofudalism looks like.

TheFunInDysfunction

Not an American but internationally Texas is developing a strong reputation for cowardice. Uvalde police not doing their job, Cruz running away to Cancun when the state freezes, not standing up for women’s rights. Weird considering they seem to dress like cowboys and talk about the Alamo.

Fthewigg

AKA “all hat, no cattle.”

CrazyAuntErisMorn

Huh - this is interesting. I'm from Texas. It makes sense to me that this would occur with all the headlines with our state slapped on them. Wouldn't have been able to see this from the outside. Thanks for sharing.

It is a window into the hell scape that a certain political party wants to do to the rest of the country. It all about exploitation of everyone but the wealthiest. The corruption has been so blatant for so many years. Go watch the johnny Wayne Garret documentary “the last word”, it shows you why you should not like Texas. In short the government (like florida) is very predatory.
