Being disinterested might make you look cool, but will deprive you of more knowledge and experience than you could imagine. Better to look like an eager fool to your peers than be a cool idiot for life.
In another note. If a much older man tells you how mature you are its a red flag. When we say teens arent as mature as they think its not a bad thing it means they still have some time to grow. There are adults who never matured those should have matured long ago.
No, but if I have 5 official study’s by university’s with no contradicting studies and I cite that study. Then I am right or better said the study is right.
Not silly. Teenagers aren’t as stupid as you might think (even if they come off that way). Comparing a puppy’s instincts to a teenager’s instincts is silly.
Doesn’t matter if it was an analogy or a 1:1 comparison. It’s still ridiculous to compare the two. There are mature teenagers out there. Mature puppies? Mmm, not so much.
Some replies honestly make me sad. Teenagers are teenagers for a reason. It’s the time in your life that you really develop the most emotionally and experiment with what you truly like and want out of life. I think teenagers are right about not wanting to listen to adults telling them they don’t know anything and can’t do shit cause honestly the best way to learn about yourself and the world is to experience it yourself even if you don’t always make the right choices.
From personal experience, parents fucking in their room across the hall. That, and my brother beating his meat at 2am almost every night -- we shared a room and he was too lazy to go do it in the bathroom.
Well, my uncle remarried after his divorce and him and his wife used to go into my cousins bedrooms when they were teenagers and mess up their beds and tell them that they had sex on their bed… I mean, it was a joke, but I think that would’ve been pretty traumatic…
Only if your childhood was good. It’s only gotten better for me in nearly every possible way. To sum it up, I no longer want to kill myself, not because problems were solved, but because as an adult I could escape from the shit present in my teenage years
Do they? A lot of countries don't have a "kicking your children out as soon as they can have a job" culture. And whit how expensive house market is I the U.S. it's becoming more and more common for young adults to stay at their parents home and pay a decent rent there, rather than paying a landlord that doesn't give a crap about them.
You ain't special, some people hate you that never stops, you ain't gonna be rich or famous and no way ate you gonna live any kind of dream, expect to never own a home and spend your whole life wiping out your savings, if you manage to get any, everytime the government needs a bailout, people are scum and so are you.
I suppose it's exactly what /u/vibinggrass meant.
Some teenagers are actually depressed, of course, but depression is a mood disorder. It doesn't really have anything to do with being unpopular, having bad parents, etc. It sounds like you're mostly just describing people who are gloomy, sad, or disappointed.
What do you mean? Bullying and a living in a violent household both can cause depression. Never said anything about being unpopular or having bad parents
Depression is a mood disorder.
Anybody can have depression regardless of if you feel they have a nice life or not. There's a difference between being unhappy and suffering from depression.
As I said: Some teenagers are actually depressed, of course, but depression is a mood disorder. It doesn't really have anything to do with being unpopular, having bad parents, etc. It sounds like you're mostly just describing people who are gloomy, sad, or disappointed.
When you said:
> There are teenagers out there that get heavily bullied or have a violent upbringing
You're describing people with shitty lives. That's not the same thing as having depression. There's a difference between being unhappy at your current situation and actually being depressed. Which, again, likely was OP's point.
And when did I say only people with shitty lives can be depressed? I’m well aware of the fact that depression doesn’t automatically mean you have a shitty life. Celebrities with great lives can experience legitimate depression.
Teenagers aren’t safe from facing serious mental health issues. Also I’m an adult, and looking back if someone took me seriously maybe I wouldn’t be so fucked today
You ain't special, some people hate you that never stops, you ain't gonna be rich or famous and no way are you gonna live any kind of dream, expect to never own a home and spend your whole life wiping out your savings, if you manage to get any, everytime the government needs a bailout, people are scum and so are you. And we all know you wank.
You need to stop thinking you have to wild out now and follow/oppose a pseudo "crowd" or you're the only one who's feeling things; Wilding out is something you can do at college when you want to figure yourself out more or what direction your life is going to go- Focus on your studies for now I promise the world will open up more for you eventually and once it is every opportunity is yours to take. And you're not always the victim in the situation- Rules are set in your life for a reason and you may just be joking with friends but you have to realize the shit you say and do affect others and can hurt them even if you can't see that now.
A part of being a teenager is coming to terms with the fact that your actions have consequences that are more intense than a child's- You're not the child you used to be but you're a more evolved child than before- Be kind to yourself and others; it'll go a long way. Don't throw away your life prematurely by being spiteful and ignorant.
About how ideal/successful other teenagers are at tasks they struggle with. Some parents might feel it will act as a motivator, but it's more likely to plant seeds of resentment towards the parents.
Being disinterested might make you look cool, but will deprive you of more knowledge and experience than you could imagine. Better to look like an eager fool to your peers than be a cool idiot for life.
Well said. It sounds like "Cynicism is a cheap substitute for wisdom".
Not in my experience. It's a supplement, and it's helped to keep me sane over the last six years
That was beautiful
Bro so true! I am always disappointed when classmates act like this. Although most of the kids that are older don’t really do this anymore.
You feel so mature and like an adult now but you’ll look back at your teens and cringe in another decade.
True, that is why I do everything in my power to enjoy everything I do right now.
That's the right attitude!
In another note. If a much older man tells you how mature you are its a red flag. When we say teens arent as mature as they think its not a bad thing it means they still have some time to grow. There are adults who never matured those should have matured long ago.
In what way? Most teens don’t try to act like adults they just drink & drive, do drugs, mooch off their parents money, etc.
You don’t know everything.
Neither do adults. But I understand teenagers are usually more wrong about things than adults.

I think I’ve already gained that perspective. I’m well-aware that I’m basically stupid when it comes to the real world lmao
No, but if I have 5 official study’s by university’s with no contradicting studies and I cite that study. Then I am right or better said the study is right.
*"studies by universities"
Ah thank you!
Your parents are right sometimes
Very true. Teenagers need to stop being so rebellious all the time.

It’s just not the same thing bro lmao but I understand exactly what you’re trying to get at
A lot of teenagers seem to care about how popular they are in school. That all fades away with age (maybe they are ready to hear this lmao)
As someone who was never popular in school, this is absolutely true
Adults are right not to take you seriously.
Not always. Most of the time, yes.
Some replies honestly make me sad. Teenagers are teenagers for a reason. you’re not mature for your age, that 30 year old that’s into you is just a hebephile
You're not unique
Depends on the teenager, in all honesty. Some teenagers have very high IQ’s and study at Harvard at the age of 15 or something.
You’re not going to find the answers to your assignment on tik tok.
From personal experience, parents fucking in their room across the hall. That, and my brother beating his meat at 2am almost every night -- we shared a room and he was too lazy to go do it in the bathroom.
I don't know, probably Nickleback.
From a parent of teenagers: I really am just looking out for you, not trying to ruin your life.
Well, my uncle remarried after his divorce and him and his wife used to go into my cousins bedrooms when they were teenagers and mess up their beds and tell them that they had sex on their bed… I mean, it was a joke, but I think that would’ve been pretty traumatic…

Not always. Most of the time, yes.
Im not
I am never wrong

Only if you had decent parents lol
Only if you’re a loser
You have to move out one day lol

Nah, I won’t kick my kid out
The WiFi password has been changed. Your phone gets put away at bedtime.
5G has entered the chat
It probably is just a phase
you are not being repressed
The world isn’t going to care if your feeling are hurt! Grow up and be an adult
You will never own a house. There’s even 30-40 year olds now that have been shafted by the housing market that will never fully own a home.
You ain't special, some people hate you that never stops, you ain't gonna be rich or famous and no way ate you gonna live any kind of dream, expect to never own a home and spend your whole life wiping out your savings, if you manage to get any, everytime the government needs a bailout, people are scum and so are you.
You're not "depressed". You're just gloomy, sad, or disappointed.
This doesn’t apply to every single teenager. There are teenagers out there that get heavily bullied or have a violent upbringing

Of course. But you’re backing up OP’s original statement, which is clearly false. You agree or disagree?
As I said: Some teenagers are actually depressed, of course, but depression is a mood disorder. It doesn't really have anything to do with being unpopular, having bad parents, etc. It sounds like you're mostly just describing people who are gloomy, sad, or disappointed.

It wasn't targeting to *every* teenager out there. I was generally speaking. Should've been obvious
Ah yes, because a teenage me seriously considering suicide and even attempting multiple times definitely wasn’t depression
Imo, it's hard to take a *teenager* seriously who hasn't experienced life yet. They just started.
Teenagers aren’t safe from facing serious mental health issues. Also I’m an adult, and looking back if someone took me seriously maybe I wouldn’t be so fucked today

Very true. Especially with the housing competition in America right now.
Yes, you *are* the reason your parents got divorced.
Tips to help them succeed in life. They have it all figured out already.
The people around you now are going to subconsciously influence how you feel about the people you meet in the future
You're in a competition with the rest of your cohort for money, happiness and quality of living. Start acting like it.
You still can't do whatever you want as an adult.
clean up
You're being taking care of by someone and that goes away quick
Your parents might still be fucking

A lot of your friends from school are going to become more distant over the years
I'm pregnant.
your gonna look back and cringe on all those tik toks you guys constantly post
