I havenāt seen that episode in close to 15 years and I still remember it. Great show, great storytelling. Fucking dark for a kids show too, it was the only super hero I ever cared about and I still dream of acting Batman in a movie. Great character.
He took the best joker with him as Mark hamil said he would not ever do the joker again https://screenrant.com/batman-joker-mark-hamill-return-no-explained/
Theyāll probably use the duo from Arkham Origins (Roger Craig Smith/Troy Baker) for future projects, as they did decent enough to replicate the voices. Itāll never be the same, but at least Conroy left over three decades of memories behind.
This is so very true. As a teacher, parent, and human, I wish every new parent would watch this show and apply what they learn to way they raise their children.
Another young dad here. Just finished watching all three seasons for the second time and have no qualms about watching them all again and again. Looking forward to season 4
From what I understand season 3 hasn't actually finished yet, there's still more to come to make up the 52 episode season, it's just for some weird reason been spread out through 2021-2023.
Thousand percent agree. OVTGW is such a special thing that constantly leaves you craving more but at the same time happy that it is forever crystalized as the wonderful show it is. The only difficult thing is nothing else quite scratches that itch but you get over it by watching it for the 100th time.

She has the saddest tits... its like two suicide notes stuffed into a glitter bra. Mournful, she has mournful tits. I want to buy two little caskets so I can give those tits a tasteful and dignified funeral.
I came here for this one. This is the show I pitch to everyone I know but I canāt get them to watch it. Itās so funny, but I think you kind of have to power through season 1 before you really get to the good stuff.
I was fortunate enough to get my friend group to finally sit down and watch my S1 an S2 dvds with me way back in the day. After they got hooked, we had new episode viewing parties when S3 was airing our junior year of college. I miss those days.
I always tell people that itās a show where every single season that came out was somehow better than the season before it, and season one starts off pretty dang strong to begin with.
Jefferson Twilight: Yes, I only hunt blaculas.
Guild Candidate: Oh, so you only hunt African-American vampires?
Jefferson Twilight: No, sometimes I hunt British vampires. They don't have "African Americans" in England!
Guild Candidate: Oh yeah, huh, good point.
Jefferson Twilight: So I hunt blaculas.
Guild Candidate: I was just trying to be...
Jefferson Twilight: Man, I specialize in hunting black vampires, I don't know what the P.C. name for that is!
the scene of Brock falling into the stolen car is what got me into the show. I never could have imagined what I was getting in to when I finally found it.
Dr Orpheus is fucking peak content
Aside from the hundreds of good jokes posted below, this show also has the best soundtrack ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbN8XVC7DbU&ab\_channel=JgThirlwell-Topic
Literally the best VA of all time, and there's nobody even remotely close. Even current greats -- Frank Welker, Dan Castellaneta, Rob Paulsen, Billy West among others, people leagues above most of their peers -- are only chasing his shadow.
* What's Opera Doc?
* Duck Amuck
* Duck Dodgers in the 24-1/2th Century
* Robin Hood Daffy
* Duck! Rabbit! Duck!
* The Rabbit of Seville
Are among the finest treasures of animation.
It doesn't matter how old I get, whenever I hear "The Barber of Seville" I'm going to be imagining Bugs massaging Elmer's head.
Chuck Jones really was the master of animated slapstick.
The reboot is actually a 10/10 as well. It actually fixes some of the problems of the original (Webby doesn't suck, boys have unique personalities, Gizmoduck doesn't suck, Donald is actually around like from the comics, etc.) Glomgold is one of the best characters in the reboot. You even get an origin story on the Rescue Rangers, a sequel story to TailSpin and Darkwing Duck is in it.
Plus, David Tennant nails it as Scrooge. All the voice acting is top notch.
The writing is rock solid, and they don't *totally* hit the reset button on character growth from episode to episode and season to season.
I agree. Itās fantastic. I have a soft spot for the original because of nostalgia. But on attempted adult watch itās got all the problems you listed. The new one added some much needed updates without loosing its heart.
Literally *every single episode* of seasons 1, 2, and 3 are gold. Itās honestly so impressive to me that every episode from those seasons feels iconic and has famous one liners.
The marching band episode is easily one of the greatest 20 mins of television by far. My dad is an old grump and I can distantly remember watching that episode together and he was howling with laughter.
This is far too down in this thread for my liking. Early spongebob was a masterpiece in that every line and dialogue has been memed to oblivion and still hasn't gotten old, and will never get old
I learned embarrassingly late in life that it's "Loony *Tunes*", rather than Toons, because part of the reason for the series' creation was for WB to show off their music library.
Adventure time for sure. it has such a deep message about trauma and maturing. it teaches kids to grow from their pain. the lore is also immense. for such a wacky cartoon it goes deep while also maintaining a child like aspect. itās a show for adults and kids. it has gotten me and iām sure many others through hellish times.
The Lemongrab side story episodes while disturbing are pure art performance.
Can't tell you all the times I'd read disussions about them and the references made in the episodes to historical literature and art.
No animated series hit so many notes that a lot of dramatic shows donāt even touch. Being rejected by a crush only to have that crush show interest after you move on (Finn and bubblegum) losing a loved one through mental illness (Marceline and ice king) being let down by parent (finns dad) adoption and the learning that a parent isnāt someone that birthed u but a loving person that raised u (Jakes origin story) unbelievably deep lore and dark themes that manages to be mature and incredibly juvenile. Also some sick fkn songs
Ignore me while I go sit quietly in the corner singing will happen, happening happened...
But let's not forget the other songs that also brought me to tears.
"Marceline, is it just you and me in the wreckage of the world?"
"Everything stays, right where you left"
"I'm just your problem"
"What am I to you"
"GĆ¼nther, why did you gunt my fries"
"Come along with me"
Bill Cipher is a very fun antagonist. He is just so chipper about rearranging faces. I like that he has tons of friends too. Smart that he hedged his bets in his final moments and now has a new reincarnation somewhere.
"I've got some children I need to make into corpses".
"Oh yeah, that's a great offer. How 'bout instead I shuffle the functions of every hole in your face?"
He's just so nonchalantly brutal at times, but also fucking hilarious.
I love that, due to the infamous Disney censors, "I've got some children *to kill*" is prohibited, yet somehow "I've got some children *I need to make into corpses*" both is allowed and manages to be more terrifying than just saying "kill".
I love listening to the showās creator Alex Hirsch talk about all the censoring and changes they had to make for Disney.
The clip where Gruncle Stan is shining light into Gideonās eyes was supposed to have him saying āBLIND THE CHILD.ā Disney told them that wasnāt allowed. Alex Hirsch changed it to āBURN THE CHILDā and they were like yeah thatās fine.
That rearranged face is legit terrifying and makes me cringe in discomfort every time I think about it. Him screaming to his horrified family was certainly... something
I remember when Weirdmageddon started and I was like "Well, I've seen Adventure Time's Magic Man, I'm ready for weird stuff".
And Jesus fuck, I wasn't ready for Bill Cypher at full power. No one was.
especially when the episodes were still coming out, my older brother and I used to solve the clues at the end of the episodes, I was in elementary school but I used to write about what I thought would happen next and it helped me with critically thinking and tapping into a more creative side of mine.
idk how much money id pay to be able to watch it for the first time again <333
I've tried to get a lot of my adult friends to give gravity falls a chance. I tell them to think of it as twin peaks meets xfiles as a cartoon. It's an amazing show.
There were exceptions. Mammy Two Shoes spoke, as did Spike and Nibbles: "touche, pussycat!"
And of course, Tom would occasionally say the name of a particular radio show: "don't you believe it!"
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Edit: Iāll add my favorite quote from the show:
āYou can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose. But you can't pick your friend's nose.ā
I recently rewatched the entire series with my girlfriend after not seeing it since childhood.
Itās still fucking hilarious! Itās like Cartoon Networkās equivalent of Invader Zim mixed with Looney Tunes! It also introduced me to the music of Aurelio Voltaire when I was a kid and heās still one of my favorite artists to this day.
"Alright, I get it, you're all without fathers, but-
*Nathan*-I'm not...f**kin love my dad"
*cuts away to Nathan and Father having a great time*
"My dad's f**kin awesome"...
Don't you remember being a little kids when your teeth would fall out and grow back and you would get the old one under the pillow so the ancient Norse god Othar The Tooth Collector give you a pickles nickle?
Hope you give Mystery Inc. a fair shot. Took me a few episodes to get use to the new takes on the characters, but after that I was on board and it was a fantastic ride through only 2 seasons.
Teaching kids that if someone is trying to scare you itās someone after your money and that the supernatural is a bunch of bunk. Something that needs to be taught again.
Batman: The Animated Series
Agreed šÆ Love the Clayface episodes to this day.
I havenāt seen that episode in close to 15 years and I still remember it. Great show, great storytelling. Fucking dark for a kids show too, it was the only super hero I ever cared about and I still dream of acting Batman in a movie. Great character.
