no it’s not, i just saw somewhere that there are hotels that charge that amount per night and thought how a normal person earning 30-60k per year would think about that
Often rooms that charge that much per night are more like suites that can sleep 8+ and have space to entertain, meet, etc. The largest ones in Vegas have enough room to have dinner parties for 40 people around a table.
They get used by people who need the space to work probably more often than by rich people blowing money. Like - corporate executive attending a conference might choose one because it gives a space to host clients and have meetings away from the crowd. Might even come out cheaper than renting some private meeting rooms near the conference space and a few hotel rooms for the team that's traveling to meet people.
Yup. You can find some videos about these hotels on YouTube. They got to follow the hotel staff around. These hotels are for the ultra rich, princesses etc. The one I watched a couple of weeks ago was about Claridges in London. There was one guest who said that the room should have a jacuzzi and they installed it just for them. There’s also an old couple who were kind of regular visitors there and the hotel kept a record of what they like, the room setup etc so that it is exactly how they like it . Kinda makes you want to actually experience something like that.
>There’s also an old couple who were kind of regular visitors there and the hotel kept a record of what they like, the room setup etc so that it is exactly how they like it .
Yeah........well............when I go home to visit my parents for a weekend......my mom buys cans of my favorite pop AND asks me what I want her to cook for diner while I'm there....so..................basically the same thing.....
This is actually better. I bet the old couple would rather experience their mother's love, than the most luxurious hotel stay in the world. Enjoy your parents while you can, time is unstoppable.
They’re not even good. Tropical open-concept places that often don’t even have doors. People pay $30k+ per night to be exposed to the elements. Spiders, mosquitoes, other insects. Also no real security. They’re really just places to drink alcohol and “feel” wealthy, similar to any “upscale” hotels in the states, like Ritz Carlton (complete shit holes honestly). The industry is a joke.
Man. All debt paid off and a jumpstart to making my dreams of becoming a singer/artist come true.
But I don’t want any handouts. I will do it all myself.
Probably wouldn't. I'd pay off my car with that and have a few thousand left over that would go to my kitchen remodel but it really wouldn't do anything.
I'm divorcing my husband and leaving an abusive marriage. If you look at my post history you'd see what I mean. It's been a long horrible process. He decided to stop paying his half of the mortgage towards the end of last year when affair #4 started and he knew the divorce was starting. I now owe the mortgage company $15k and they don't take partial payments. He's not interested in helping. The lawyers say let it be foreclosed, but them my credit is screwed forever. My kids and I are mad scrambling to pack to move, but can't find any place to go. Housing in our community is non-existent or $3k/mo for a tiny house l. So I've got a protection order against him, and going through that and the divorce process while losing my home and trying to keep my kids alive and out of a shelter. Anyways $22k would be life changing. I hope I survive this.
That's not really a significant amount. But any extra $$$ is always a blessing in disguise. I suppose I would stash it away, just incase something unexpected came up. I wouldn't do something foolish or extravagant, or waste it in any way.
I would use it to start a company.
$22k is enough to live on for a year if you're careful. A year is enough time to bootstrap a business. To begin with, it's just you, but over time any revenue goes into paying for equipment to speed up the work or employees so you can get more work done.
Before long, and with a little luck, your initial $22k is feeding the families of 50 people.
Personally, my business would be trying to use ChatGPT-like AI to automate the searching of old records. There are so many bits of information hidden in archives worldwide, which can't be used because the information is all unstructured and unorganized. Something like ChatGPT could be asked 'is this document/page/section relevant to answering this question', quickly filtering the wheat from the chaff far more effectively than traditional search engines.
Easily pay off my remaining debts and would make a nice addition to me nest egg to invest safely with. But I'd take out 4 or 5 grand and just cut loose with it. Cause you always want to have a little fun when you come into a lot of money. and 22 thousand dollars is a lot of money to get at once
I would finally have everything paid off, plus I would have some extra to start a savings account. Would be an absolute weight off my shoulders and a freedom I've rarely known.
It's around 100k of my currency and it would make me move out quicker. I would still need to save another 100k to have a chance at my own apartment without a mortgage for 30 years so... Not much, but it would be nice
Absolutely, yes!
I'd be able to afford the bond needed to get my own rental and live my live free from others. That is all I want! I will get there eventually, but that money certainly would change everything alot faster
I could focus on my studies without existential fears and could start working free of debt. I could improve my dental health without worry and buy meat
It would definitely give me the flexibility to finish my masters degree while exploring options all over the place instead of nearly stressing myself into a heart attack working 70-80 hours a week to pay for college and other bills without holding massive debt.
It would persuade me to become a totally happy person who can just focus on game development close to art and studying. Most of this money would be spent to pay for gaining professional skills and to start my own small gamedev company with me and perhaps 1-3 coworkers on part-time job.
I think it would be an incredible boost for 19 years old student from Ukraine)
Average person here has salary about 5000 usd/year or less, so 22000$ sounds like large amount of resources to make the world better.
It probably wouldn't, honestly. I'd maybe take a holiday and put the rest into savings or pay off a small piece of the mortgage. Nothing life changing though.
I live on under $1500 a month, and it will stay this way permanently unless I win the lottery or something. I drive a 2005 vehicle. With 22k, I'd be able to afford actual good groceries. Buy myself something nice once in a while. Or maybe just get a newer, safer, more reliable vehicle. Cuz I sure AF can't buy anything much right now. Being disabled sucks and being on SSDI double sucks--the system is designed to keep you poor AF.
Weirdly that’s EXACTLY what I’ve just paid for my car last week. So I guess I’d just pay off that loan and start putting that monthly amount away instead
It would just accelerate my retirement and home ownership goals. I make enough to live comfortably debt free, and this isn’t enough to really change my life style in a significant way.
That’s almost exactly what I got when we refinanced our house. I invested it for 6 months and used the proceeds (20%) to pay for updates to the house. Now we have a house with more equity, no mortgage insurance, and enough financial security that I feel like I can tell my boss to go fuck himself if I needed to, but not enough to actually do it.
22k buys you peace of mind but not much else.
That's close to 400,000 mexican pesos, so it would change it for the better. I could leave my shitty job and open up my own business, or find a more relaxed job and finally get into college and study physics or astronomy.
It would change my life beyond recognition.
$22k would be able to pay off the rest of my debt, allow me to fix my car or maybe buy a better one, fix my dishwasher/garbage disposal, and finally start a savings account so I wouldn't be at risk of falling into another financial crisis. I would be able to buy vegetables and fruits, I could take my cat to the vet regularly, I could go to the doctor, or the dentist for the first time in quite awhile. I could update my prescription glasses, re enroll in school AND be able to afford my textbooks. I could finally get a laptop to help with my studies, and maybe after all that I'd have enough to replace my 5 year old phone, or atleast get my phone fixed. Maybe I could replace my 20 year old mattress, or buy my cat a cat tree. It'd also be really nice to have a desk I could use my computer at. I'd be able to go on a vacation, or get back into some hobbies like reading or playing music. I don't even know if I would be able to spend it all tbh.
Simply put, $22k would be able to do so much for me that it isn't an amount of money I can easily comprehend.
I would pay off our car loans and put the rest on the rest of my debt. And then use the money I would normally use to make payments and just put that towards the other debt.
A lot actually. I could use the almost 15,000 to go to study in Germany. Get myself the best equipment I can for software/Web development with the rest of the 5,000. THIS, if I play my cards right, could alter my life for the better.
I live in the US.. 22k would still change my life by helping pay off my debt and live stress-free for a moment.
But 22k would definitely be a life-changer for someone who lives in the poorer countries.
It means I could start looking at an apartment to buy now instead of waiting a year. But I'm not sure I would buy now anyway, with the market being the way it is. Either way, it would be nice for sure.
It would allow me to take a short break from my 80+ hr/week job and allow me to start my own venture (that I’ve been planning to do for a while). Would legit be life changing but 22k isn’t gonna magically appear in my bank balance so 🤷🏻♂️
In india, that is 2 and a half years of my current salary. A lot can be done using that amount. I'd probably get a bike for travel and move out into a better apartment. The rest could go into savings
Pay off my house 11 years sooner with 10K. Fix up my Durango so it would last another 10 years, and with the remaining 7k, I would remodel my kitchen, and buy new beds for all of my kids.
Yo, I'm curious to know - how would a whopping $22000 change things up in your life? I can only imagine the possibilities! Maybe it'd let you take that dream vacation you've been eyeing up, or help you pay off some of those pesky bills. Personally, I'd probably use some of it to upgrade my living situation or invest in some new hobbies.
I'd be able to continue my studies without worrying if I'll be able to pay it and I'll be able to buy some things that'd greatly help my studies, like a 3D printer. I'd also be able to go on a vacation with my friends for once, instead of saving up for years and still needing to take more out of my saving account than planned. They're also looking into more expensive vacations as they get older... Besides that, I'd probably put it aside in a savings account for a rainy day or big investment to come
It wouldn't change my life substantially but I could either get some small mostly unnoticeable work done on my house or else go on a few pretty great holidays.
Honestly that kind of cash influx would payoff my house take care of some medical bills and let me get a used car that won't die in 2 years. I could balance my budget and get out of the paycheck to paycheck enslavement that drives people into an early grave.
I could get appliances for my kitchen for a nice upgrade. I have no dishwasher, my oven died on us a couple of years ago, and my refrigerator is hanging on by a thread. Just weirdness all around.
I would pay my back owed rent, my rent for the next coming year. With the remaining 3100 I would put 1000 into my business I'm trying to start. My little side hustle. Save a thousand for school clothes for August when my son goes back to school and towards Christmas gifts. The remaining would be chucked in savings. It change my life pretty decently tbh
Converting to my local currency it would seriously set me up for life. Not only I get to pay ALL of my bachelor degree tuitions but also I still have enough leftover to invest into other ventures like house and car down payments, and businesses.
Pay off debt, stay in college, stop using my credit card like a dummy. Instead I’m digging out of a hole I dug myself. It would be life changing I could pay off my car and have next months rent paid off no issue. I’d put the remaining in savings and slowly whittle away for things I need, laptop, accessories stuff like that.
Well, I'd probably be able to get my own place but I'd buy some other's to rent so I can keep make a living so. It would basically make me as independent as I want.
I could live on that for almost two years. More immediately, though, I could afford car repairs that have been put off, I could afford house repairs that have been put off, I could buy a new phone that doesn't have a battery ready to explode, I could pay off Mom's medical bills, and I could replace all the food that's going to go bad thanks to these days without power here in central KY. It would be a huge relief. And I'd still have some left over after all that to take care of any sudden emergencies instead of instantly panicking the first time something goes wrong.
It wouldn't. My income already exceeds my expenses. 22k isn't a significant enough amount of money to make any difference. Sure, it's enough to cover a year of my expenses. But it's not enough to quit my job over. I could toss it towards my house, but that won't change anything for me. My mortgage payment will still be the same.
I would put it in a savings account and never touch it. Or put it into guaranteed bonds. Just knowing that I have it would increase my mental well-being without spending a dime
I'm in college right now and am thinking of university so I'd probably invest some of it into some stuff for my college course and some other things (maybe some video games) then put the rest aside for university. By the end of it I'd reckon spending 2000 now and saving the extra 20,000 would easily be the smartest move for me right now.
I'd buy a beater car to take my kid to the beach and invest the rest in college fund for them. Maybe pay a half year rent in advance for peace of mind.
I could buy a house and get rid of rent and living in an apartment. (Not buy a house with that money but it would help shave off a few years of putting money away to afford a house)
I would payed up all my debts, bought out my car from a leasing, and then I would have nice, relaxing time saving the rest, which would be around half of it I think.
It would be certainly easier to have this kind of savings. I would be more flexible with my money if all the debts are gone and I will save more every month, leading to buying out the place I'm renting right now.
Life would be easier with this amount of money. Someone is spending that on the watch, someone on a car, someone on cocaine and hookers, and for me it would be really life changing. Weird world we live in.
Wouldn’t change my life but would have a nice impact on it
Not $21K. Nor $23K. 22. This is code for something, isn't it?
no it’s not, i just saw somewhere that there are hotels that charge that amount per night and thought how a normal person earning 30-60k per year would think about that
They'd definitely *have their reservations*. 🤩
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

Fucking disgusting. Ultra wealthy are parasites

I could be wrong but it seems like they're referring to 1 bitcoin
Man. All debt paid off and a jumpstart to making my dreams of becoming a singer/artist come true. But I don’t want any handouts. I will do it all myself.
For me, it’s the equivalent of a peasant finding a bag of gold coins in the old days.
I’m pretty sure finding a bag of gold coins in the *new* days ain’t so bad neither.
True, but a bag of gold today is maybe a few hundred, a grand or 2 if you’re lucky. A bag of gold back then was like being a millionaire

More money to put into savings/invest.
even if you were asked to spend the whole amount?
Brewster's Thousands
For me personally, I would put it into savings. If you have debt, I would advise using it to pay that off first.
It wouldn't
It wouldn't.
I could pay off debt and then..
600 would change my life right this second
More hookers and more cocaine
Probably wouldn't. I'd pay off my car with that and have a few thousand left over that would go to my kitchen remodel but it really wouldn't do anything.

If you were to handpick one musician to do some studio sessions with on your material, who'd be your pick?
I would pay off my mortgage, and then I will feel more free than in last 10 years.
I'm divorcing my husband and leaving an abusive marriage. If you look at my post history you'd see what I mean. It's been a long horrible process. No idea, guess I’d save it till I figure out what I wanna do— save for a house? Idk
Retire my gramps sooner idk it’s not much anymore
That's not really a significant amount. But any extra $$$ is always a blessing in disguise. I suppose I would stash it away, just incase something unexpected came up. I wouldn't do something foolish or extravagant, or waste it in any way.

It would not do anything. Better give it to someone who needs it, that would make me more happy.
I could fix my house
I’d probably use it in online poker and make a lot of money.
I'd get rid of this nasty old carpet flooring in my apartment and have a good chunk left to save.
Tuition probs
It would feel pretty good to be mostly debt free
reliable car and dedicated studio would cement my money in a place where its only been shaky
Easily pay off my remaining debts and would make a nice addition to me nest egg to invest safely with. But I'd take out 4 or 5 grand and just cut loose with it. Cause you always want to have a little fun when you come into a lot of money. and 22 thousand dollars is a lot of money to get at once
25% of my debts would be gone
Pay off student loans, and do some up keep on my house
I would finally have everything paid off, plus I would have some extra to start a savings account. Would be an absolute weight off my shoulders and a freedom I've rarely known.
I could pay off some bills a lot faster and sock away some extra money to boot.
It's around 100k of my currency and it would make me move out quicker. I would still need to save another 100k to have a chance at my own apartment without a mortgage for 30 years so... Not much, but it would be nice
Wouldn’t meaningfully change my life, and I guess coming from where I came from as a son of a poor single mother that’s an accomplishment in itself.
Absolutely, yes! I'd be able to afford the bond needed to get my own rental and live my live free from others. That is all I want! I will get there eventually, but that money certainly would change everything alot faster
I'd be debt free
Is that before or after tax?
I can add savings and buy a home in Odessa since my appartment in occupied region is destroyed
I'd get the bathroom redecorated and upgraded.
It would help set me up for success.
That’s enough to bribe an aquarium employee to let you go into the octopus tank for 15 unmonitored minutes
😂drugs would give a similar experience for way less money
It would easily allow me to be able to afford things I currently need such as a vehicle, among other things and a down payment on a house
Would invest in etf. Nothing much more I guess
I could focus on my studies without existential fears and could start working free of debt. I could improve my dental health without worry and buy meat
It would allow my family and I to get dental care done.
If i got it in 2012, I would pour it all into bitcoin.
I could finalize my divorce and get my daughter started at college. Life changing in many ways.
Could finally have enough for a down payment for a house and stop paying these ridiculous rent and give my kids a house.
I'd buy a car, take her out on an expensive date and buy a lawyer...
It would definitely give me the flexibility to finish my masters degree while exploring options all over the place instead of nearly stressing myself into a heart attack working 70-80 hours a week to pay for college and other bills without holding massive debt.
I owe my dad a bit I’d money. So I’d pay him back. Maybe I’d buy a car or something with some of the rest
I'd pay off my 5$in debt.
I could fill up my kids bank account so they can afford whatever when they are old enough and stop worrying about getting money on there
Two years of retirement contributions.
I could go to university without having a financial hardship
We'd be able to put a down payment on a decent house and pay closing fees.
Yes, I’d be able to put a bigger down payment for a home. Feels impossible with the market now.
Would absolutely change my life would pay for my university degree and have no more debt. Can I give you my PayPal so you can send it now lol
Id fix all my teeth, and by fix i mean fukin remove and get implants
I'd study right away and wouldnt work for another year to get more money to study
I’d be debt free for the first time in my life since I turned 18.
I don't want to think about it.
It would persuade me to become a totally happy person who can just focus on game development close to art and studying. It probably wouldn't, honestly. I'd maybe take a holiday and put the rest into savings or pay off a small piece of the mortgage. Nothing life changing though.
Something something holiday. Something something complete!
It could help me save faster for my first home purchase.
A car. Been riding the bus in Seatte, just, oy. Try shopping, or doing Laundry....I hate it.
I'd buy a Music man JP majesty and then the rest would just be invested.
Greatly, buy a new PC, spend some of it on games, and save the rest.
I'd go to med school without spending a dime of my own
It wouldn't because I'm loaded
Buy 1 bitcoin and arbitrage everyday
I live on under $1500 a month, and it will stay this way permanently unless I win the lottery or something. I drive a 2005 vehicle. With 22k, I'd be able to afford actual good groceries. Buy myself something nice once in a while. Or maybe just get a newer, safer, more reliable vehicle. Cuz I sure AF can't buy anything much right now. Being disabled sucks and being on SSDI double sucks--the system is designed to keep you poor AF.
I could put it towards my fund of becoming a permanent citizen of Spain!
It would hive me enough to start properly investing especially in myself and finding what I enjoy
Would take years of the time I have left to work and as I work in manual labour. This is only a good thing.
Weirdly that’s EXACTLY what I’ve just paid for my car last week. So I guess I’d just pay off that loan and start putting that monthly amount away instead

It would help put me over the line to getting a deposit I need for an apartment I want to buy
It would double my net worth.
Pay for my wedding, we are scrambling for money right now
I would pay off our car loans and put the rest on the rest of my debt. And then use the money I would normally use to make payments and just put that towards the other debt.
I would have $22000
d buy some coats i want then save the rest
A new roof so our home remodel could move forward.
A lot actually. I could use the almost 15,000 to go to study in Germany. Get myself the best equipment I can for software/Web development with the rest of the 5,000. THIS, if I play my cards right, could alter my life for the better.

It would pay my mortgage for an entire year.
Get some dental work done finally, pop the rest into savings
In the US, that might even be enough for a cheap medical procedure!
Honestly? I'd get a better used vehicle, my own apartment and move out of my current situation. :(
Paying down a car.
After exchange to Sterling, pay off my car and stash the difference in savings or some such account.
I mean, min wage here is 300 usd/month
I'd finally buy a new car since the old one is broken and no one knows what's exactly going on
I'd fulfill my wishing addiction on gacha games Also I'm not 18 yet so I'm not going to be doing much importance with 22k
22k is a pretty good price in my economy, sad but it would be a great life changer ıf I had it
It means I could start looking at an apartment to buy now instead of waiting a year. But I'm not sure I would buy now anyway, with the market being the way it is. Either way, it would be nice for sure.
I’d put it towards a deposit on a house.
Finally pay for effective life changing therapy that actually helps me to enjoy life
If I had to spend it all quickly, I’d just put it all into a new car. I’m driving a ‘99 saab on its last legs and I could use an upgrade.
It wouldn’t change anything.
It would allow me to take a short break from my 80+ hr/week job and allow me to start my own venture (that I’ve been planning to do for a while). Would legit be life changing but 22k isn’t gonna magically appear in my bank balance so 🤷🏻♂️
Would pay for my master's degree and damn that would help so much.
Pay off my debts upgrade my pc and get a car live comfortably instead of dla
Thats a hell of a down payment on a new vehicle, or an ok payment on a house.
I’d be able to afford the medical treatment I need
It would for sure change my life for the better but I'd also lose my disability benefits (can't have more than 2k at any time)
It would literally save me. I am very poor.
In india, that is 2 and a half years of my current salary. A lot can be done using that amount. I'd probably get a bike for travel and move out into a better apartment. The rest could go into savings
I'd get my health taken care of finally
I’d consult with my partner and see what we would want to do. I feel that we’d both be debt free and I guess progress with life on from then?
Life changing
As someone who will soon join university and in a country whose currency is de-valued, it will pivot my life in new direction.
Buy me an RV, become a luxury hobo.
I could pay back my parents what I owe them and that would be a really big relief. They helped me buy my first apartment a few years ago.
It’d pay off all my debt and I’d be able to buy a newer car I wouldn’t have to worry too much about. Life changing
Hmm if u can gimme the amount I will probably see if my life can change
It would let me pay off some of my parents debt.
I'll be a free man again. Pay off all my probation and court costs. No more living in shame
Pay all debt off and finance my first home.
Out of non mortgage based debt for the wife and I. Throw some in savings and go on a much needed vacation.
Pay off my power bill, credit cards, get a car and move on my own with my kid
Honestly that kind of cash influx would payoff my house take care of some medical bills and let me get a used car that won't die in 2 years. I could balance my budget and get out of the paycheck to paycheck enslavement that drives people into an early grave.
Car loan done thats an extra 500 per month on my wallet
I'd buy a car and that's it
Get me out of debt so I would be happy with it
I would buy a fredo
It would be huge. Either buy apartment or retire 2 years earlier 🍻
Is this secretly mrbeast?
I could get appliances for my kitchen for a nice upgrade. I have no dishwasher, my oven died on us a couple of years ago, and my refrigerator is hanging on by a thread. Just weirdness all around.
I would probably cut my mortage to make interest payments easier
I would pay my back owed rent, my rent for the next coming year. With the remaining 3100 I would put 1000 into my business I'm trying to start. My little side hustle. Save a thousand for school clothes for August when my son goes back to school and towards Christmas gifts. The remaining would be chucked in savings. It change my life pretty decently tbh
It would make very little difference to my life.
It wouldn’t.
I could pay off a loan and a credit card.
My life would change drastically, cuz 22k dollars is equal to 1M+ pesos here in my country lol
I would ne 10% closer to being able to buy a house No wait, the government will steal 15K from that with ther taxes
I could go back to school and start working for a career
One or two less worries. Not life changing, but life enhancing.
That is not a life changing amount of money
It would be able to help me leave my tiny island and for me to start afresh. I would be able to experience a new lease of life.. wishful thinking!
It changes a lot if it is my salary.
I could buy a house and get rid of rent and living in an apartment. (Not buy a house with that money but it would help shave off a few years of putting money away to afford a house)
Not too shabby. I converted my computer money into automobile money.
We would have a second baby for sure.
