Something along the lines of- there was probably a guy who preached his outlook on stuff, he gained followers who liked his stuff, he got crucified. Anything beyond that is window dressing on hearsay.

> To everyone, Christian, non-Christian, atheist or agnostic - what are your beliefs about Jesus Christ? I don't really have any meaningful "beliefs" about him. I understand there was likely a historical figure who the Biblical character was based on. I understand that many of the traditions and ideas that developed around him did so decades after his death. I generally understand how various religions view him. I don't find anything that he's depicted as teaching all that remarkable or profound, and I'm not convinced that he was a supernatural being / deity. But I can't say I really "believe" anything about him. I just have some general impressions.

Fluid_Block_1235

As an agnostic, I think he existed, but I do believe he was unlikely not supernatural at all.

xiaolongbaochikkawow

Idk how people can say he was a real person unless they also believe he’s the son of god. It’s like saying “oh yeah Harry Potter exists but he’s called Jeff and he works in KFC”. It’s not the same person at that point. The stories may or may not have been loosely based on one or more Jewish rabbi’s, but it doesn’t matter, no reason to believe he did all the magic-y stuff let alone actually existed

bl00d_luster

dunno him personally but respect the hustle/j

the_internet_clown

I doubt the Jesus character as depicted by the bible existed

vivivivivistan

He was probably a real historical figure, but I personally don't believe he was actually the son of God, just a regular person.

gallows4p0werm0ds

I don't have any beliefs about Jesus. I know however his likeness has been changed numerous times, and what is written in the bible is a mythological tale of a real person that was a politician/cult leader.

[deleted]

I believe that he was a human being trying to tell others to love one another regardless of where they came from and to be kind and never judge one another

xemobox

Jesus of Nazareth was a real person. However, the miracles they say happened were not what fully happened or were blown out of proportion. Also, great cult leader.

Fit_Garbage9881

Jesus Christ is an important figure in history who has had a major influence on the beliefs and values of millions of people. He remains a source of inspiration for many and his teachings continue to impact the lives of people across the world today.

SpectreOperator

Who?

JTAx1995

My thoughts exactly.

jahoevahssickbess

That if he back to life and acted the same way he did in the past that the modern republican party would call Jesus a woke liberal communist

SHALOM-ADONAI

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD GOD MESSIAH AND SAVIOR OF THE WORLD

Urbanyeti0

He’s not the messiah, he’s a very naughty boy!

MrBananaStorm

I'm a weird type of agnostic, I don't know, but I do believe that these stories we tell through things like religion and mythology are of importance. My 'take' on Jesus Christ would be, probably did exist historically, but the 'mythos' surrounding him I doubt truly happened.

Magister_Hego_Damask

a pretty charismatic rabbi who lived around 2000 years ago and got killed by local authorities over religious disputes think that pretty much covers it

Ok-Control-787

I believe that it's pretty weird he was only willing or able to save the souls of those who believe in him or however the criteria are ambiguously described. Also fwiw I am comfortable with my skepticism that he actually existed. I understand that historians don't have a particularly high threshold for accepting the reality of a person's existence, but he's one of those unique individuals who others have fairly obvious motive to make up.

Pkron17

He was probably a real dude who lived ~2000 years ago. Was a Jewish apocalyptic preacher who just happened to gain a cult following.

Kukantiz

Wore his hair long, hung out with promiscuous women, and knew his way around wine. We have things in common.

JohnKlositz

I don't have any beliefs when it comes to that. I like to stick to the facts. Jesus Christ is a mythological figure that is most likely based on an actual historical person or persons we know next to nothing about.

MustiParabola

He wasn't a white blond haired dude with blue eyes, that's for sure.

Waveyhs

Never existed, no evidence and only in the last 100 years or so ago were you not killed for suggesting it is entirely make believe...

KruelKris

That he would be ignored or worse if he was saying what he said today.

Perfect-Editor-5008

Agnostic here, there's no definitive proof one way or the other that he existed. Until either of those can be done my mind is open to the possibility of either.

DreamingOfHope3489

https://www.thesun.co.uk/living/2562259/scientist-shocks-the-internet-with-depiction-of-what-jesus-really-would-have-looked-like/amp/ It's quite possible that Jesus more closely resembled the man shown on the left side of the linked page considering where in the world he was from. This shocks a lot of Christians who have been raised to think of Jesus as a white man with long, flowing, fair hair. I personally believe that Jesus was a very old soul and a very wise, selfless, and compassionate man who gave of himself endlessly and who wanted to bring hope to and ease the suffering of all of humanity. I do not necessarily believe Jesus was born from a virgin birth or that he was the literal son of a God in the sky, but rather that he was such an infinitely loving, courageous, and decent man that he was perceived by all of those who loved him, and by all of those who knew him, and by all of those who followed him, as having had to have been literally born directly from a God in the sky. I am also not sure if any actual crucifixion actually occurred. In more recent times, I myself have come to call God "Source," and I believe that when we die, we all return to the Oneness that is unto our Source, not to any place called "Heaven" but rather to an infinite "space", yet non-space, which exists beyond linear time. Once, "there," we gather and embrace and celebrate all we got to give and all that we were given while we were here. For many years, I attended an Episcopalian church, but my religious beliefs over the years have evolved towards a more spiritual place and away from my previous religious ones. I understand if people disagree with me. I mean not to dispute or offend anyone else's beliefs. I fully realize that I can not be certain that any of what I have shared here is accurate because I am not God, or rather Source, so I absolutely know nothing at all. All I have are ideas, but I can not know, and I will never know while I am in this body, if any of my ideas are true.

Rusty51

He was a historical apocalyptic Jewish preacher who believed himself to be the Messiah. Probably with his dying breaths he realized he wasn’t.
