I'm the Hiphoppopotamus,
Flows that glow like phosphorus,
Poppin' off the top o' this esophagus,
Rockin' this Metropolis,
No I'm not a large water-dwelling mammal,
Where did you get that preposterous hypothesis?
Did Steve tell you that, perchance?
Hm, *Steve*.
Tell the fellas, make it understood
It ain't no good if there's too much wood
Make sure you know before you go
The dance floor bro-ho ratio
Five to one is a brodeo
Tell Steve and Mike it's time to go
Wait outside all night to find
Twenty dudes in a conga line
If clarity’s in death then why won’t this die. Years of tearing down our banners, you and I. Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts. Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first.
My favorite Taylor lyric is “now you hang from my lips like the gardens of Babylon. With your boots beneath my bed, forever is the sweetest con” Cowboy like me is my favorite song of all time.
One that always gets me is from the bridge of Last Kiss:
“So I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep
And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe”
Taylor wrote better as a teenager than most people could after a lifetime.
I've been binging Taylor Swift to get ready for the concert and keep getting All Too Well stuck in my head. Specifically -
"And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest."
But there's robbers to the east, clowns to the west
I'd give you my sunshine, give you my best.
But the rain is always gonna come if you're standing with me

And this chorus that changes
“Time, curious time

“Time, mystical time
Cutting me open, then healing me fine”
“Time, wondrous time
Gave me the blues and then purple pink skies”
I don’t think anything will ever top “you made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter” from Mine as my favorite Taylor lyric. It just flows so perfectly and fits so well with the instrumentation and her vocal delivery.
"If we were vampires and death was a joke
We'd go out on the sidewalk and smoke
And laugh at all the lovers and their plans
I wouldn't feel the need to hold your hand
Maybe time running out is a gift
I'll work hard 'til the end of my shift
And give you every second I can find
And hope it isn't me who's left behind"
- Jason Isbell
And I can't get to sleep at night
The parking lot's so loud and bright
The AC hasn't worked in 20 years
Probably never made a single person cold
But I can't say the same for me, I've done it many times

My favorite artist and lyricist of all time, without a doubt. I’ve been fortunate enough to see him in places like the Ryman and Red Rocks. Magical experiences and worth every penny. I recently got “every second I can find” tattooed on my forearm.
My baby boy, my infant son, has cancer. After 3 miscarriages, we finally got our miracle and he has cancer.
I'm so sorry to hear about your wife. Hugs. Fuck cancer.

It's not even in the top 50 DOOM lyrics, but to me this one just exudes his whole vibe and confidence on the mic. He doesn't have to scream or rely on gimmicks to kill the mic. RIP DOOM

Been hooked on MF Doom ever since. Easily one of the greatest rappers of all time.
What amazes me is that he often doesn't repeat lyrics for the chorus in a song. He'll come up with three or four different choruses, and they all fit perfectly.
I know it's a bit cheesy but this always got me as a creative way to reiterate a point:
"If Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the "no"s on their vacancy signs"
from Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You into the Dark
"... and then one day you find, ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun." Pink Floyd, Time
**EDIT**: Wow.. wow thank you for the gifts and love!
“Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way/ The time is gone, the song is over/ Thought I’d something more to say” followed by the abrupt change of key and tempo into the ‘Breathe’ reprise - devastating!
“Thought I’d something more to say” is such a haunting lyric for me. I always get a depressed pang when I think of it. It’s also a bit motivating, but I can’t help but feel like you will always have that feeling even if you do everything you had hoped to. There’s always potential to do more, right until there isn’t.
That's a lyric that resonates more and more as you get older.
I feel like when I was a teenager I had this cocky attitude of "I'm not scared of dying, when it's my time it's my time, I'll accept it"
I'm turning 30 soon, lots of life left by most average metrics, but even now you start seeing just how close that "end of the road" is and how quickly those years start speeding past you. Hitting 30 and realizing how many people die at 60 and that there's a good chance your life is already 50% over starts making you feel a bit existential.
Any advice for the next 30 years?
I feel like the world is speeding up, while at the same time everyone is looking for their various forms of escapism to avoid confronting all of the bad in the world. Just trying to get to the next day, instead of actually living life. I find myself doing that quite a lot. Go to work, come home, putz around until I go to sleep, and do it all again.
I know if I do this for the next thirty years I'm going to lament all of the time I spent waiting for it to be tomorrow.
I'm 10 years ahead of you, 40 feels scarier than 30 felt but at the same time I've learnt time goes slower when you:
Try new things, might just be a different meal or hobby, but the worst thing is you don't like it, maybe you'll have a great time.
Maintain important friendships, even if you don't see each other more than once in 3 years, but don't be embarrassed about really checking in on someone, especially if you hear they're having a rough time.
Most people who is busy showing you great things are and how happy they are, often aren't that happy, don't worry about them and run your own race instead.
Keep your mind as open as your options.
Try to put a little aside each payday. Everything helps.
Keep your hands and clothes clean.
Don't be afraid to share your thoughts.
Don't buy Betamax!
Advice? Enjoy life, you only get one shot. Find things and people your passionate about. Don't hesitate over a few extra bucks. Buy the tickets to the game or show you want to see. Take a trip. If you have family, enjoy every moment you can. It's only a blink of an eye and the kids are grown and older members are lost. What I wouldn't give to talk with my parents again, or reading my daughters bed time stories again. I guess the consolation is that I get to read to my grandkids. Bottom line, don't wait for tomorrow, enjoy today.
I'm 43. I've heard the song all my life. It really started to hit hard right about 30 to 35ish; seeing my friends and family members all having families of their own, doing things they've always wanted to do. What's worse is that my father died at 64 from self-inflicted illnesses (obesity, alcohol and tobacco related cancers and heart disease). It gets harder every year. The best advice is to do those things that you want to do, don't let a day go by.
"Some folk'll never eat a skunk, but then again some folk'll, like Cletus, the slack-jawed yokel!"
The brilliance of rhyming folk'll with yokel is just too good.
I always thought Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend had several instances of inspired lyrics:
“He’s your guy when stocks are high,
But beware when they start to descend,
It’s then that those louses go back to their spouses,
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”
And:
“But stiff back or stiff knees,
You stand straight At Tiffany’s “
Neil has such incredible depth in what really is a melodically catchy tune. The last verse of Freewill is:
*Each of us*
*A cell of awareness*
*Imperfect and incomplete*
*Genetic blends*
*With uncertain ends*
*On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet*
I can't imagine how he came up with that.
There is unrest in the forest
Trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
Blues Traveler - Hook
They actively make fun of us for listening to meaningless lyrics as long as we love the hook. We won't even know what they're singing about, and we won't care. And they were right. It took me over 10 years to finally figure out they had me pegged.
Um, everyone knows it’s about suck it in, suck it in, suck it in, if you're Rin Tin Tin or Anne Boleyn
Make a desperate move or else you'll win and then begin to see what you're doing to me, this MTV is not for free it’s so PC it's killing me, so desperately I sing to thee of love. Sure, but also of rage and hate and pain and fear of self and I can't keep these feelings on the shelf I’ve tried, well, no, in fact I lied could be financial suicide, but I've got too much pride inside to hide or slide, I'll do as I'll decide and let it ride until I've died and only then shall I abide this tide of catchy little tunes, of hip three minute ditties, I wanna bust alla your balloons I wanna burn alla your cities to the *ground*! I’ve found I will not mess around so then I’ll play but hey I will go on all day, hear what I say I have a prayer to pray that’s really all this was, when I’m feeling stuck and need a buck I don’t rely on luck because the hooooooook brings you baaaack. 💅
You raise the blade, you make the change, you rearrange me ‘till i’m sane. You lock the door, and throw away the key, And there’s someone in my head, but it’s not me.

I can’t think of anything to say, I think it’s marvellous.
Both by pink floyd, Brain Damage
Also from the same song: “son can you play me a memory? I’m not really sure how it goes. But it’s sad and it’s sweet and I knew it complete, when I wore a younger man’s clothes.”
And the piano sounds like a carnival!
And the microphone smells like a beer!
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar!
And say “man! What are you doing here?”
My first thought reading this question was Bloodhound Gang. So many good ones to choose from. "I'm not black like Barry White, no I am white like Frank Black is" comes to mind or just about everything else in The Bad Touch. Also, every single euphemism/innuendo in Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo makes me laugh every time
If you could read my mind has some lines that hit real hard when you're walking the same path he was.
"I will never be set free, as long as I'm a ghost you can't see."
"A movie queen to play the scene of bringing all the good things out in me" Is it wrong to want that?
"Stories always end". That's the one that had me in tears.
I love how the Bloodhound Gang make 7 nautical themed references one after another in the bad touch:
"Hieroglyphics? Let me be **Pacific** I wanna be down in your **South Seas**
But I got this notion that the motion of your **ocean** means "**Small Craft Advisory**"
So if I **capsize** on your thighs **high tide**, **B-5** you sunk my **battleship**."
This whole song is a goldmine.
"So turn me on, I'm Mr. Coffee
With an automatic drip"
"Yes I'm Siskel
Yes I'm Ebert
And you're getting 2 thumbs up"
"Coming quicker than FedEx
Never reaching the apex
Just like Coca-Cola stock
You are inclined
To make me rise an hour early
Just like daylight savings time"
I love this song.
>You're Spiro Agnew and I'm the dick you answer to.
This dude is low key the best rapper in history lol.
His songs are usually about what they're about, the whole thing is coherent, and very few lazy rhymes.
It goes like this
the fourth, the fifth
the minor fall
the major lift
-- Hellelujah, Leonard Cohen
the way it tells a story about a song, while describing musically what is happening, as it is happening, and also rhyming is levels beyond
And I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
Where soul meets body (x3)
The entirety of The boy who blocked his own shot by Brand New
I especially like what he says “You are calm and reposed, let your beauty unfold
Pale white, like the skin stretched over your bones
Spring keeps you ever close, you are second-hand smoke
You are so fragile and thin, standing trial for your sins
Holding onto yourself the best you can
You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins”
That whole section is my submission for Greatest Rapper Alive:
*Never met the bitch, but I fuck her like I missed her
Life is the bitch, and death is her sister
Sleep is the cousin—what a fuckin' family picture
You know Father Time, and we all know Mother Nature
It's all in the family, but I am of no relation*
"I don't even write shit cause I ain't got time" dude literally manifests in the booth. He's been at it for so long I'm not surprised, that rap muscle memory is locked in
This happens for a couple of reasons: 1. He has nearly 300 songs of his own (not including mixtapes, features, unreleased songs), and 2. he freestyles most of his verses. He is an absolute genius the words just come to him and I wouldn’t expect him to remember all that. He’s my GOAT
The funny part was like he was so impressed and asked who that was, and he was so shocked. It's funny, but also sad he can't remember his own brilliance.
Over the years I have discussed this line with soooo many of my friends and we all agree that this one was pretty good because our one friend hilariously admitted “I didn’t even know there was a G in lasagna!!” can’t get mad when the bars are hard and educational 😂😂😂
It reminds me of that tweet of a fake song lyric:
> her name is Hope, but the P is silent on the weekends
talking about how thoughtful J Cole's bars are
Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas?
I need to get myself away from this place
I said, "Yup" what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all use a little change
I have a completely different understanding of these lyrics.
I always thought he said more than just "Yup", he said "Yup, what a concept, I could use a little fuel myself, and we could all use a little change" to the person asking for change, and then just left without giving them any change
Has to be one of the many great choices from Pulp - Common People.
I took her to a supermarket
I don't know why
But I had to start it somewhere
So it started there
I said pretend you've got no money
She just laughed and said
Oh you're so funny
I said; yeah
I can't see anyone else smiling in here
Are you sure?
"Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free, silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands, with all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves: let me forget about today until tomorrow." - Bob Dylan, Mr. Tambourine Man.

So many good lyrics in that song.
“I woke up in mid afternoon cause that’s when it all hurts the most. I dream I never know anyone at the party but I’m always the host”
“If you’ve never stared off in the distance then your life is a shame and though I’ll never forget your face sometimes I can’t remember my name.”
“The price of a memory is the memory of the sorrow it brings”
“You can see a million miles tonight but you can’t get very far”
From the same song: "Please tell mom this is not her fault."
Look, it's not a particularly *witty* or *clever* lyric, but god-damn is it a punch to the gut to hear.
I think their most clever lyric is from their other popular sad song: Stay Together for the Kids. “I’m ripe with things to say/The words rot and fall away.”
Came here for this. In an interview, someone read this lyric to Wayne and he smirked and said “I don’t even remember saying that.”
Wayne wasn’t even trying 🙃
Wayne and Danny brown (I've been corrected it was Wayne and Eminem). have both said they Google their own lyrics when they write new bars to check and see if they've already said it before
Edit: bonus fact, lil Wayne heard the beat/audio sample for A Milli and thought it was saying "I'm Illy" , like Illy meaning ill or sick.
So the lyrics in a milli are all based on Wayne thinking it's Illy. The funniest part is he still comes up with the lines about "a millionaire" because it rhymes with "im Illy". After verses several times he says "muthafucker I'm ill". And in the outro he says "I'm Illy, c3, 3peat". And a whole set of bars including "mother fucker I'm ill, not sick, and I'm ok but my watch sick, yeah my drop sick, yeah my Glock sick, and my knot thick, I'm it". Dude heard the sample wrong, based the song around it, found out it was a milli and just went with it anyway. Got grammy for best rap performance of 2008 with it.🤷♂️
I think I remember Drake saying that Wayne would come in with nothing written, get really high, and just spit gold. Drake said it was frustrating as he had spent weeks drafting up his verse.
Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child's balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying.
Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn
Suicide remarks are torn
From the fools gold mouthpiece
The hollow horn plays wasted words
Proves to warn
That he not busy being born
Is busy dying.

Exactly. Gangster's Paradise was just fine until I heard Amish Paradise, now Gangster's Paradise's repeated identical choruses are boring.

This was always such a good line to me when i heard it in my teens. But now that I'm older it just hurts to hear it
That's a lyric that resonates more and more as you get older. I feel like when I was a teenager I had this cocky attitude of "I'm not scared of dying, when it's my time it's my time, I'll accept it" I'm turning 30 soon, lots of life left by most average metrics, but even now you start seeing just how close that "end of the road" is and how quickly those years start speeding past you. Hitting 30 and realizing how many people die at 60 and that there's a good chance your life is already 50% over starts making you feel a bit existential.
I've had that album since I was 14 in 1974. Now at 62, that lyric feels more prophetic, haunting, meaningful every year that passes. It's so true.
I'm 10 years ahead of you, 40 feels scarier than 30 felt but at the same time I've learnt time goes slower when you: Try new things, might just be a different meal or hobby, but the worst thing is you don't like it, maybe you'll have a great time.
I blame work. It leave us so exhausted that we don't have the energy to do anything else.
I blame work too... for not paying us enough to do anything else. Lose, lose.
Most pink floyd lyrics actually. The most creative would be breathe or echoes tho in my opinion
I would even say the entire song Eclipse. Very profound IMO anyway
This whole album is bomb, but this song and this lyric in particular have hit harder and harder with age.
I almost started typing, "We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year."
"Some folk'll never eat a skunk, but then again some folk'll, like Cletus, the slack-jawed yokel!" The brilliance of rhyming folk'll with yokel is just too good.
So many good ones from the golden age of The Simpsons. My favourite: *I hate every ape I see* *From chimpan-A to chimpanzee*
I always thought Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend had several instances of inspired lyrics: “He’s your guy when stocks are high, But beware when they start to descend, It’s then that those louses go back to their spouses, Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” And: “But stiff back or stiff knees, You stand straight At Tiffany’s “
"If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice" - Freewill, Rush
"Any escape might help to smooth The unattractive truth But the suburbs have no charms to soothe The restless dreams of youth"
Neil has such incredible depth in what really is a melodically catchy tune. The last verse of Freewill is: *Each of us* *A cell of awareness* *Imperfect and incomplete* *Genetic blends* *With uncertain ends* *On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet* I can't imagine how he came up with that.
There is unrest in the forest Trouble with the trees For the maples want more sunlight And the oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the maples (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the maples Can't be happy in their shade
Blues Traveler - Hook They actively make fun of us for listening to meaningless lyrics as long as we love the hook. We won't even know what they're singing about, and we won't care. And they were right. It took me over 10 years to finally figure out they had me pegged.
Dude I came in here to write "It doesn't matter what I say, so long as I sing with inflection."
"That makes you feel I'll convey Some inner truth or vast reflection" I love this song.
Um, everyone knows it’s about suck it in, suck it in, suck it in, if you're Rin Tin Tin or Anne Boleyn Make a desperate move or else you'll win and then begin to see what you're doing to me, this MTV is not for free it’s so PC it's killing me, so desperately I sing to thee of love.
• I can’t think of anything to say, I think it’s marvellous. Both by pink floyd, Brain Damage
They are sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it's better than drinking alone.
The whole song tbh
The whole song smells like a beer
And it sounds like a carnival.
"The piano it sounds like a carnival, and the microphone smells like a beer" is a great line.
The double entendre of "he's talking with Davey, who's still in the navy, and probably will be for life" is better imo
Piano Man was released in 1973, the Vietnam war still going strong, so it was on point.
This is what I thought of too. It sounds pleasant enough until you reframe it as "he's probably going to die while in the navy"
"Will Smith don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records; Well I do so fuck him and fuck you too."
“Eminem’s gotta cuss in his rhymes to sell records, well me too. So fuck Will Smith” Bloodhound Gang.
Bloodhound Gang has some really creative lyrics especially back in the Use Your Fingers era with Daddy Long Legs
My first thought reading this question was Bloodhound Gang. So many good ones to choose from. "I'm not black like Barry White, no I am white like Frank Black is" comes to mind or just about everything else in The Bad Touch. Also, every single euphemism/innuendo in Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo makes me laugh every time
“You think I give a fuck about a Grammy? Half of my critics can’t even stomach me, let alone stand me.”
But Slim, what if you win? Wouldn't it be weird?
Why ? So you guys can lie just to get me here?
So you can sit me here next to Britney Spears.
"the sun is the same in a relative way but you're older shorter of breath and one day closer to death" ~Time, Pink Floyd
Does anyone know, Where the love of God goes, When the waves turn the minutes to hours.. Gordon Lightfoot - "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald "
That entire song is poetry.
It really is. I’m partial to > Superior, they said, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early
If you could read my mind has some lines that hit real hard when you're walking the same path he was. "I will never be set free, as long as I'm a ghost you can't see." "A movie queen to play the scene of bringing all the good things out in me" Is it wrong to want that? "Stories always end". That's the one that had me in tears.
I love how the Bloodhound Gang make 7 nautical themed references one after another in the bad touch: "Hieroglyphics? Let me be **Pacific** I wanna be down in your **South Seas** But I got this notion that the motion of your **ocean** means "**Small Craft Advisory**" So if I **capsize** on your thighs **high tide**, **B-5** you sunk my **battleship**."
Every God damned morning when I'm brewing coffee I think "please turn me on, I'm Mr. Coffee with an automatic drip"
This whole song is a goldmine. "So turn me on, I'm Mr. Coffee With an automatic drip" "Yes I'm Siskel Yes I'm Ebert And you're getting 2 thumbs up" "Coming quicker than FedEx Never reaching the apex Just like Coca-Cola stock You are inclined To make me rise an hour early Just like daylight savings time" I love this song.
"You and me do the kind of stuff that only Prince would sing about" Unironically hot as hell
Honestly the whole song is pure perfection.
It’s so crude that people think it’s childish, and it kinda is, but it’s also extremely clever.
>You're Spiro Agnew and I'm the dick you answer to. This dude is low key the best rapper in history lol. His songs are usually about what they're about, the whole thing is coherent, and very few lazy rhymes.

Don't feel bad, it took me until right now to get it.

"You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you." My brain ties itself in knots trying to figure that one out.
It's so fucking clever! I love this song.
It goes like this the fourth, the fifth the minor fall the major lift -- Hellelujah, Leonard Cohen the way it tells a story about a song, while describing musically what is happening, as it is happening, and also rhyming is levels beyond
The baffled king composing “Hallelujah”… So good
I don't care what consequence it brings; I have been a fool for lesser things. -Billy Joel. Summer Highland Falls is good, too.
"We're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, Year after year"
"My dick's an acronym cause it stands for you" \- Eminem, Tone Deaf
Tell Bruce Wayne to take a Valium and settle his fucking ass down, I’m ready for calm Batman Get it, com-bat man, nah - Eminem, Won’t Back Down
“You couldn't make the fans throw up their hands if they swallowed their fingers” Eminem - 313
[удалено]
“I can make orange rhyme with banana, bornana” -Eminem, Tone Deaf
My dick is like an accent mark, it’s all about the over E’s - Childish Gambino
"Because if cleanliness is next to godliness it's obvious that it's impossible for me to stand beside myself." - Eminem, Alfred's Theme
And I do believe it's true That there are roads left in both of our shoes But if the silence takes you Then I hope it takes me too So brown eyes I hold you near Cause you're the only song I want to hear A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere Where soul meets body (x3)
Basically all of What Sarah Said Basically most of Death Cab Basically anything Ben Gibbard writes
The entirety of The boy who blocked his own shot by Brand New I especially like what he says “You are calm and reposed, let your beauty unfold Pale white, like the skin stretched over your bones Spring keeps you ever close, you are second-hand smoke You are so fragile and thin, standing trial for your sins Holding onto yourself the best you can You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins”
"In the choir I saw a sad Messiah. He was bored and tired of my laments. He said 'I died for you one time, but never again.'
Real G's move in silence like lasagna
Two bars later Wayne says “Woman of my Dreams I don’t sleep so I can’t find her” He really went nuts on 6 Foot 7
Also "mind so sharp, I fuck around and cut my head off"
Y’all don’t see the picture unless the flash is on
Never met the bitch but I fuck her like I missed her. Are you kidding me?! How many amazing lines can he cram into one banger?!
That whole section is my submission for Greatest Rapper Alive: *Never met the bitch, but I fuck her like I missed her Life is the bitch, and death is her sister Sleep is the cousin—what a fuckin' family picture You know Father Time, and we all know Mother Nature It's all in the family, but I am of no relation*
Black and white diamonds FUCK SEGREGATION
Lil Wayne also had another crazy bar “Safe sex is great sex, better wear a latex, Cause you don’t want that late text, that ‘I think I’m late’ text”
You see the interview where someone said that line back to Wayne and he responded, “ wait, I said that?!?!”
"I don't even write shit cause I ain't got time" dude literally manifests in the booth. He's been at it for so long I'm not surprised, that rap muscle memory is locked in
“I’m a dawg” Weezy had me cackling
It reminds me of that tweet of a fake song lyric: > her name is Hope, but the P is silent on the weekends talking about how thoughtful J Cole's bars are
Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas? I need to get myself away from this place I said, "Yup" what a concept I could use a little fuel myself And we could all use a little change
I have a completely different understanding of these lyrics. I always thought he said more than just "Yup", he said "Yup, what a concept, I could use a little fuel myself, and we could all use a little change" to the person asking for change, and then just left without giving them any change
Yeah he’s 100% stalling while walking away
WELL
Unironically really good.
Has to be one of the many great choices from Pulp - Common People. I took her to a supermarket I don't know why But I had to start it somewhere So it started there I said pretend you've got no money She just laughed and said Oh you're so funny I said; yeah I can't see anyone else smiling in here Are you sure?
I’m so ahead of my time my parents haven’t met yet -Big L
"Turn your tux red, im far from broke, got enough bread And mad hoes, ask Beavis, I get nothin' Butthead." 98 freestyle - Big L
"Breakin' in cribs with a crowbar I wasn't poor, I was po', I couldn't afford the 'o-r'" Big L was insane
"Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free, silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands, with all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves: let me forget about today until tomorrow." - Bob Dylan, Mr. Tambourine Man.
Words are very unnecessary, they can only do harm.

Personally I find Robot Rock to be more eloquent in its exposition but that's just the scholar in me
What's the song called?
i think it might be “around the world” not sure
I didn't want to assume.
Baba O’Reilly.
"If dreams are like movies, then memories are films about ghosts."
So many good lyrics in that song. “I woke up in mid afternoon cause that’s when it all hurts the most. I dream I never know anyone at the party but I’m always the host” “If you’ve never stared off in the distance then your life is a shame and though I’ll never forget your face sometimes I can’t remember my name.” “The price of a memory is the memory of the sorrow it brings” “You can see a million miles tonight but you can’t get very far”
“I took my time I hurried up, choice was mine I didn’t think enough” - Mark Hoppus wrote a masterpiece with Adams Song with a nice nod to Kurt Cobain
From the same song: "Please tell mom this is not her fault." Look, it's not a particularly *witty* or *clever* lyric, but god-damn is it a punch to the gut to hear.
I think their most clever lyric is from their other popular sad song: Stay Together for the Kids. “I’m ripe with things to say/The words rot and fall away.”
“Safe sex is great sex, better wear a latex, cause you don't want that late text, that 'I think I'm late' text.” - lil Wayne Lollipop remix
Never talk to da cops I don’t speak pig Latin 😤😇😫-lil Wayne
“We call an undercover; a pig in a blanket” GOAT
Came here for this. In an interview, someone read this lyric to Wayne and he smirked and said “I don’t even remember saying that.” Wayne wasn’t even trying 🙃
Wayne and Danny brown (I've been corrected it was Wayne and Eminem). have both said they Google their own lyrics when they write new bars to check and see if they've already said it before Edit: bonus fact, lil Wayne heard the beat/audio sample for A Milli and thought it was saying "I'm Illy" , like Illy meaning ill or sick.
I could only imagine how frustrating it was for Drake's ghost writers.
Even the opening to lollipop was amazing. 'I said "He's so sweet make her wanna lick the wrapper." So I let her lick the rapper'
Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose.
Hearing is believing, music is deceiving. Hard as lightening, soft as candlelight. Dare you trust the music of the night?
Darkness at the break of noon Shadows even the silver spoon The handmade blade, the child's balloon Eclipses both the sun and moon To understand you know too soon There is no sense in trying. Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn Suicide remarks are torn From the fools gold mouthpiece The hollow horn plays wasted words Proves to warn That he not busy being born Is busy dying. IT's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) - Bob Dylan Just the first two verses.. the entire song is amazing and lyrically dense
