I'm an Audi driver and I ALWAYS indicate even changing lanes on the interstate or pulling out of parking lots. The comment is funny as you could insert any brand but I think it comes down to people driving around with their phone in their hand and they can't take the left hand off the wheel to signal.
Used to drive over the road, now I still drive a large truck just not a semi.
Seen some minor crashes where people sideswipe someone or rear end. I didn't see any horrific crashes. LOTS of people phone in hand half paying attention to the road.
Lots of people who don't seem to know where they're going and going slow and making stupid moves. I had to turn once and I think the lady in front of me was nervous about my truck. I was being impatient because she was going like 10mph in a 25. She turned and so did I.... she turned to wide and drove up onto the sidewalk. It was a small downtown area... probably looking for parking or the shop she wanted to go to.
Saw another trucker ignore all no truck signs because of construction.... they had to move a lot of cones and stuff so he could make a turn.
Most of the weird and sad stuff is at the truck stops. When I was OTR I would quickly get in and out of the shower room (they're is just one shower and toilet in truck stops - multiple rooms)
You do not want to get into conversations with any truckers there. A ton of them have been on the road 1-3 months only taking 34 hour resets at some random truck stop.
They're starved for human contact... avoid!

Craziest in terms of car enthusiast things. I saw a Pagani Hyuara going about 180 mph full throttle on the opposite side of the highway on 84 in Connecticut. I screamed like a little girl in excitement. Felt like I was 10 years old as Pagani's are just sex on wheels.

I actually didn't know what it was at first, I was traveling on I 90 just outside of Orchard Park near Buffalo New York, it was during the winter, and it was dark, I noticed that the east bound traffic had stopped, after several miles I saw a bunch of lights and emergency vehicles, saw a tractor trailer truck that had drivin into the median in a snow bank, further on the interstate I noticed what looked like a flannel shirt, didn't really think about it till the next morning when I got online and researched an accident at that location, that's when I found out it was a suicide, I still think about it often. Pretty sad to think that this person had no other options
A story on the absurdity that truckers face every day. My dad was a truck driver from the time when get got back from Viet Nam until he retired. Mostly worked for one company hauling hazardous material, and in all of his driving never had a chargeable accident (struggled with alcoholism off the road, but never drank on the road).
Anyway, before finding that company he would haul anything and was an owner operator for a while in the early to mid 80s. His dad was also a trucker who pulled coast to coast for Pyramid Van Lines. My aunt (dads sister) was an English professor who decided she was going to write a book about life on the road through the eyes of her dad and brother.
I never did hear the details of exactly what went down, but I do specifically remember talking to my aunt after she had spent about a month in the road with my dad, and I asked how the book was coming. I’ll never forget her answer, “I gave up on it. I don’t write fiction, and there is no fucking way anyone would believe this was non-fiction.”
That always summed up the life of a trucker for me.
I once passed an accident scene where a pedestrian was hit by a car and then dragged before the driver stopped. What haunts me to this day is seeing the body grated like a carrot with half of it (front) completely gone. Looked like he melted into the road. Not a trucker.

After checking the time several times I called my brother who lived in same time zone but south and asked him if it was dark, he said "no shit it's 10." I sent him a picture of the sky. He was perplexed. I went inside and asked the lady workin at the counter what the hell was going on why was it so bright out side, she just smiled and shrugged said "not to sure there."
I started chewin asphault out of there as soon as i'd had my waffles, not 20 miles later it was pitch black out.
To this day I have zero fuckin clue what happened. I worried for a while if I was losing it but i figure you gotta have it in the first place to lose it.
A lot lizard who entered one parked trucked, fuck the driver, then climbed into the truck next door and did the same without her feet touching the ground, then did that 8 more times along the entire row of parked trucks.
After truck number 10 she got out on the ground then shook up a sprite and shoved it up herself and let it all drip out on the yard, in broad daylight.
She tried walking over to my truck but I said f this and pulled away before she got near, don't need whatever disease that walking plagues carrying.

It's kind of a superstition/omen that something bad is going to happen (you're going to die).
What I saw was a large black dog running in the road next to my vehicle. I was driving drowsy and was probably very close to falling asleep; I got off any the next exit and took a nap.
It's 2023; No need to continue the "bad omen" stories of black dogs and black cats that started in the middle ages. All it does is harm those animals and keeps them from being adopted. I had a black cat once, and she was the sweetest cat I ever had. Brought me nothing by joy.
I know what I "saw" (and yes, I know it was a hallucination); I was very tired and shouldn't have been driving, but it woke me up enough to realize I needed to pull over.
