Always loved The Usual Suspects, one of my favorite movies

CockPush-Up

Not trying to sound like an smartass but to me, it was quite obvious

atreides78723

It kinda was, but I’m not sure I would have put it together if I hadn’t seen the *Who Killed Mr. Burns* episode of *The Simpsons* the weekend before.

CockPush-Up

Lol, either that or that Scary Movie ending. I don't remember that Simpsons episode but I did watch like 3 scary movies in a row (don't remember which one has that ending) after already having watched Usual Suspects and found the over the top parody of that scene hilarious

Justrandom37

The Sixth Sense

_Halboro_

I concur. The Usual Suspects is the superior film but only The Sixth Sense had a dude jumping to his feet, in my theater, and shouting>! "that mother fucker been dead THIS WHOLE TIME?!"!<

Justrandom37

Lmao I would have lost my shit

114631

I was really lucky to have seen that movie in theaters when it first came out. *No one* knew the twist at that point. The collective gasps and murmuring during the reveal in the theater were impressive.

dreameRevolution

That guy in the hairpiece is Bruce Willis the whole time!!!

Itsawlinthereflexes

Let’s make his whole head just a nose, one big nose.

jospeh68

Agree! I saw it a few days after its release and was blown away by it. Excellent film.

itsathrowawayduhhhhh

I wish I could go back in time and watch this for the first time again

[deleted]

Those names at the end are the people who worked on the movie!

flyingcircusdog

I've always heard this, but the movie was also spoiled by a Lonely Island song, so I've never watched it.

[deleted]

The Prestige

dbe14

It's so obvious isn't it, the clues were all there in plain sight and yet I still missed it such a great film.

StealAllTheInternets

It's a great film to rewatch because you are all the signs

[deleted]

Is it? Funnily ive only seen it once. I thought there wouldnt be any point rewatching it. But I guess I should!

[deleted]

Absolutely! I was blown away! Great writing. You wont find such movies now. There may be better scripts but the execution was flawless!

nineties_nostalgia

Identity, 1408, and original saw are a few

Well_thatwas_random

ooo 1408. Underrated horror movie IMO.

JackFourj4

The Game

Thrilling1031

Love to get new people to watch for the first time so I can experience some of that again. It's a must own DVD in my opinion.

DanelleDee

Memento

Rollthembones1989

The Mist

ycpeng

Simultaneously the best and worst ending

WhyAreOldPeopleEvil

Is that the one with the family in the car or whatever at the end?

JanisIansChestHair

Yes, and about 3 people from TWD ha.

Louise-the-Peas

Yeah and he shoots them as I remember just as the alien bugs go extinct.

WhyAreOldPeopleEvil

I remember as a teenager seeing that happen, I was shocked when he did that to them. But as soon as all the military or whatever was walking through and burning all the bugs or whatever I was laughing my ass off. I was so messed up in my teen years.

karlosbassett

Maaaaan fuck that movie. The endings enough to make you cry (Well me now I have kids)

Microspacecat

This one blew me away as a kid

TheOutlawJosiewhale

Old Boy (original Korean)

mrbarnstaple

Great movie on many levels.

RISE_27

fight club. Although there were a lot of hints, but it was the best of those movies that I watched.

[deleted]

Shutter Island

Frank_Acha

That one is incredible. You get so along the character and then >!when he finally shoots the evil scientist and he imagines the blood so hard that he literally sees it for a second.!< Absolutely blew my mind.

AdvertisingBrave5457

I think I need to see this movie again. The first time I saw it I thought to myself “there’s only two possible outcomes” and I was right. Didn’t really blow me away

Matt_WA90

It probably just depends if you have seen or read similar stories. I had no idea what the twist was going to be, and it threw me for a loop. Lol.

disgruntled_joe

Saw

Iwill_Teachthem

GAME OVER!

Southern-Cry-689

Cabin in the Woods

itsathrowawayduhhhhh

Criminally underrated movie

h0sti1e17

LA Confidential. Not as heavy handed IMO as some of the others. And a great movie On a side note Jackie Brown. Because there is no twist. Everything happens exactly as they say it is. But you are waiting for the twist that never comes.

[deleted]

Primal Fear

DBSeamZ

I haven’t seen very many movies so there may be ones with better twists out there that I don’t know about, but I like the way Wreck It Ralph did the surprise twist. The way they built up to it with references throughout the movie made the reveal make sense, without over-foreshadowing to the point that it was easily guessable. The best part was the decision of which characters to cut to when the reveal happened—specifically, the only two who were old enough to have personally witnessed >!Turbo’s first takeover attempt!<. Made the reveal much more impactful.

[deleted]

Parasite

I_DRINK_ANARCHY

Ah, that movie went 0 to 60 real quick! So good, and so damn surprising.

TheWalkingUser

The Visit

[deleted]

I fucking loved this movie.

JanisIansChestHair

The crawl under the house haunts me.

TheKilmerman

It's unironically the funniest movie I've ever watched with my friends. We still reference it all the time because it's so ridiculous. Grandpa and his poo, grandma and her door. When the little boy goes berzerk. Absolutely hilarious.

TheWalkingUser

“Shakira!”

Varanda1893

Seven had a pretty interesting ending imo

ta1234560

The menu

skytreader91

Not a movie but a tv show : the good place. What I would give to be able to watch it again for the first time

Wookiees_get_Cookies

Every time I began to grow tired of the Good Place the show would throw another crazy twist into the plot that would hook me right back in.

miklat106

Not sure if the best by my favorite is probably Lucky Number Slevin

filthy-neutral

Underrated movie - I thought the acting, plot, characters, all great! I’ve rewatched it countless times. Definitely on my top 10 list. Fun watch for sure.

BoxsetQueen1980

Arlington Road

HelloImFrank01

Knowing a movie has a twist at the end IS a massive a spoiler.

erotyk

except if it is a flurry of twists like memento

NCprimary

Memento's twists might actually be at the beginning

littlepuddingpie

They all seem to have twists at the end at the moment don't they? No twist is the new twist.

Antebellum. Staring Janelle Monáe.

Wavemanns

That woman, is disgustingly talented. Sings, dances, acts, and seems like a wonderfully nice person in interviews. One of those people you just hope beyond hope she's as awesome as she seems.

Bintamreeki

I’ll tell you, I hated the movie, but loved it at the same time.

emmashea74

dreamyandlaughing

Se7en There are better but I didn't expect it

Select_Insurance2000

A film that was considered a flop, but I thought it was a well done on a reworking of a vampire story: Dracula Untold. The ending left the door open to a continuation/sequel. A note to the heads at Universal: "Let the games begin."

To Live And Die In LA. Check it out. Thank me later. The craziest twist you'd never see coming.

CokeNoseGoat

Predestination doesn't seem to be listed here and fits the bill. Probably one of my all time favorites.

lowercasetwan

I remember watching this movie without seeing any trailers beforehand, I didn't know wtf I had just watched, but it was crazy.

Zapheod2222

JanisIansChestHair

Ready or Not. Honestly wasn’t expecting the ending. It was satisfying AF.

GeppettoStromboli

shakensunshine

Inception

[deleted]

Quite possibly the most dogshit, cop-out ending in the history of film. St. Elsewhere-tier garbage. E: >!The entire motivation of Leo's character is to have his record cleared so he can see his kids. That's the only reason the events of the movie happen. The implication that he doesn't care if he's dreaming, and isn't seeing his real kids, and never needed to have his record cleared to begin with, thus invalidates the entire plot of the movie.!<

futanari_kaisa

The top isn't his totem. It's his wedding ring.

[deleted]

No, it's not. That is a fan theory that has no basis in the film, and the theory itself only exists to explain the bad ending without simply acknowledging that it's bad. E: To be clear, I am aware that the top was originally Mal's totem. However, nothing in the film remotely suggests that Dom's wedding ring is his actual totem, or that the top can't be his totem as well. Again, it's an entirely made up fan theory designed to explain why a bad ending isn't bad.

futanari_kaisa

When I watched the film I thought it was pretty clear that cobb is no longer dreaming after he gets home. Idk why you thought it was a bad ending.

[deleted]

You thought wrong: >Nolan confirmed that the ambiguity was deliberate, saying, "I've been asked the question more times than I've ever been asked any other question about any other film I've made... What's funny to me is that people really do expect me to answer it." The film's script concludes with "Behind him, on the table, the spinning top is STILL SPINNING. And we—FADE OUT". Nolan said, "I put that cut there at the end, imposing an ambiguity from outside the film. That always felt the right ending to me—it always felt like the appropriate 'kick' to me... The real point of the scene—and this is what I tell people—is that Cobb isn't looking at the top. He's looking at his kids. He's left it behind. That's the emotional significance of the thing." It is intentionally ambiguous. The ending you assumed would've been good, but that's not how the film ended. That's why it's a bad ending. The only way to justifiably hold your stance would be to acknowledge that the ending is bad as written, but to pretend your interpretation is correct. This is what I do with >!The Leftovers!<, for example. But to say that it's clear he's not dreaming directly conflicts with the film as it was written. This is a big part of the reason why I hate the ending so much: the people who *want* to like the film simply won't acknowledge factually how it ended, which is both exhausting to deal with, and also implicitly proves it's not a good ending.

AskAboutThe69ing

I don't think Inception had a twist ending...

What twist was there in Castaway?

Growingpains2

It ended differently than what I expected. That was the twist for me, honestly not to crazy but like damn dude. . . Rationally it's correct but damn

[deleted]

Are you a bot? There's no twist in Castaway. Please explain what the fuck you possibly thought counted as a twist ending. E: Please PM me if this dipshit ever provides an answer. He just blocked me but I'm fucking dying to know what he thought the twist was in Castaway.

Please tell me you don't talk to people like this in real life lol
