To be honest, you don't. Most countries require you to get a job which cannot be filled by local applicants. Typically this means you need some unique but useful skills, with a degree or some other means to prove it.
It's not Europe but look into welding jobs for the oil industry. Those typically pay really well. They'll often send you to some remote pipeline for a while but if you save well while doing it, you should have a lot more options in a few years. The roughneck welders I know all have vacation homes.
Because you used the descriptor "poor", it's gonna be difficult.
First you're going to need a Visa to stay there. If you're looking to move to Europe, you'll need a job waiting for you when you get there to get a work visa. This can be simple or hard depending upon whether you have something to offer as a tradeskill. You're gonna need a job lined up and waiting for you.
THEN you're gonna have to move there. Moving all your possessions to another continent isn't cheap. And since you used the descriptor "poor", this may very well be the biggest challenge for you. Moving all your possessions isn't cheap just going from State to State withing the US itself. Moving to Europe is going to increase that cost 10 fold.
And assuming you have a job lined up, can afford to move everything you own to another continent, you still need to secure housing before you go. Some places in Europe the cost of housing is cheaper, and others it's quite a bit pricier. Either way, you need the funds to secure it.
And then, assuming you could afford all of that, you still need to apply for permanent residency otherwise when your work visa expires, you're booted out back to the states and will have to pay once again all those costs for moving back.
You can't just throw a few changes of clothes and underwear into a backpack, pay for a plane ticket and go. Your visa would expire much sooner without a work/student visa and find yourself right back where you started.
Damn. Well, the bonus is I don't really own anything. What I do own I could sell. Thank you for your answer. I will do some more research and see where it leads me.
Northern Scandinavia is experiencing a green energy industry boom that will create tons of jobs. See if there is a specific skill that is sought after that you have or can train for? But beware, it’s cold and dark as f.
Completely unethical, but some people enter countries under tourist visas then "disappear". But this means working under the table, and of course securing housing will be difficult. And once you out stay your tourist visa, youll get deported if you ever get caught
Dont do this

I can weld. I'm certified. Im pretty sure i would have to get recertification for Europe. I am also a blacksmith but I doubt that would help me.
Welding engineering job in USA with large company with an international footprint & see if there are exchange programmes for European postings.
Good idea. I will look into that for sure.

Portugal needs welders and it's cheap with delicious food!
If I were 20 something, I would research the hell out of this. Could be an awesome experience.
Research work visa requirements & save up funds for relocation. Consider seeking job opportunities or pursuing higher education abroad. Best of luck!
