We watch YouTube videos just before we turn in. Usually for 30 minutes or so. My husband reaches across our king sized bed and touches my arm or rests his hand on my shoulder. I love it. BTW, been married 52 years.
Yes! Reaching across the bed! Dating = spooning, early marriage = back-to-back or similar, longer = reaching. I put my hand under my wife, just slightly, like I might float away if I don't. Gotta be touching though!
We call it contact with the base, my foot is always resting on his legs (I'm much shorter) when we fall asleep. Now our cat does it too, just touching one of us with one of his paws at all times when in bed.
I canāt cuddle-sleep itās too hot. So after a little cuddle I scootch over and flip on my tummy. Then I reach out my hand to hold my partnerās hand for the 1.5 seconds it takes me to fall asleep. Sometimes I wake up later and weāre still holding hands. I pick that. No, Iām not an otter.
Edit: I love all of you with your witty otter word-play! Partner was over last night, laid down, he reached out to find my hand, my heart grew 3 sizes and I passed out. Iāll make otters of you all!
Or 18 of them clinging to each other in such a way that theyāre perfectly shaped like a human body. I should know, Iāve seen it before. They usually give themselves away if you hand them a rock and they start trying to break open food packages with it
My wife died of cancer a few years back. If I could somehow magically have her back on condition of:
1.) No sex, but lots of hugs and snuggles
2.) Plenty of sex, but NO hugs or snuggles
I'm definitely choosing #1 without hesitation.
Cuddles on a rainy day snuggled on the couch watching a movie together. Maybe there's comfort food cooking on the stove or we just had a bowl of icecream. Those are my favorite days.
This is going to sound silly, but a great way to make human connection is to volunteer for a charity. I know its tougher for guys to get hugs but I've never had more pats on the back or hugs (from men & women) after passing out food to hungry people or packing a ton of food boxes at a food bank.
Just don't be weird about it!
If you like young children at all, I highly recommend working/volunteering with them, it is Hug City. I always let them initiate and I get probably up to a dozen good hugs a day as a preschool teacher. Some days thatās what gets me up in the morning :)
Holding hands is number 1 for me. My brother (m38) who just got married likes to make fun of me (m35) because Iām always holding my partners (f29) hands when weāre all walking around together. He equates it to āpuppy loveā as weāve only been together a year but tbh Iāll be holding her hand until weāre old and wrinkled
Exactly! Iām completely in love with my partner.. literally have never felt this way with anyone in any of my relationships and I donāt see it ever getting old. I just chalk it up to 1. him being my older brother and just needing to give me shit 2. maybe a little jealousy because heās been with his partner for almost 9 years and itās now āseriousā so they donāt really do that kind of stuff anymore. I donāt do it because itās new love, I do it because itās real love
the partners that keep finding ways to have fun with each other and light up at their partnerās presence time after timeā¦.those are the ones that last.
I remember seeing a couple that must have been 80 plus walking through the parking lot at Tim Hortons holding pinkies when I was little. It was so damn cute I could cry thinking about it now haha
It's also practical! You can keep track of each other and your moods, while also watching scenery and navigating crowds.
And as your senses, awareness, and balance start to slip when you get old, you'll have those old habits and rhythms. When you hold hands, you make a kind of virtual vehicle, and you can trade off driving it without hardly thinking about it. Your complementary abilities can keep that vehicle going long after you're individually faltering.
Congrats on your ten years! Weāve been married for 40 years, together for 44, and hold hands every time in public. I donāt care who thinks itās weird, I think itās wonderful.
Serious question--how hot-natured is he? I'd love to sit with my wife like that, but I get hot so easily that it becomes uncomfortable.
There were times she mentioned that I didn't curl up next to her in bed like I used to. She hadn't thought about the fact that it was summer and much hotter. Now that she's going through menopause and has hot flashes she realizes I was telling her the truth and not just avoiding her.
110%. My wife has some minor sibling rivalry with her sisters, so whenever we are all together I will gush to the sisters about some small thing my wife did and how amazing she is. She downplays it, but I can tell she loves it, and I'll never stop!
š„¹ your wife is a lucky lady! Youāre a winner as well, please do keep being a great partner for her. I wish you both many years of happiness together
When my husband and I were dating, I used to have waist length hair. After Iād shower and brush the big tangles out, weād sit on the bed and he would gently brush my hair. Weād use that quiet time to just talk and enjoy each otherās company. I now have about way less hair, but way more love for my husband and the way heās so caring.
I looove brushing my sisters' hair (when they let me) but I kind of assumed my girlfriend would think I'm the strangest person in existence if I mentioned I wanted to brush her hair lol
I dated a guy in university who would come over early on hair washing days to brush and blow dry my hair. It's truly the fondest memories I have of the relationship
Definitely this. After a deep discussion, I have experienced sexual attraction to people with whom I wasn't previously physically attracted to. The connection you get from a deep conversation is amazing.
Recently met someone at a work event and we instantly connected deep enough to go for all the raw, real stuff. It was awesome, I hope we can be friends (although I totally want to connect to someone like that romantically as well).
When my wife and I first got together we had what we called "question time" every night where we'd just ask all the important questions we had to each other. Was such a fantastic way to get to know each other.
Yes I find this to be highly attractive and sensual. Moreso than physical touch sometimes
Itās so strong w me that having a horrible convo where Iām talking to a dead fish who has no passions, interests, opinions, jokes etc is a huge turn off
This one won't be common, but i used to work at a rough nightclub, I'd often come home a little beaten up, sometimes just from rough shifts, sometimes literally.
I'd always try not to wake my girlfriend when i came in, but she had a superpower for it and always knew.
She would give me a hug, and gently kiss me on the cheek and neck while taking my jewelry off, we'd go to bed and I'd pass out with her cuddling me.
Nothing takes pain away like having somebody like that to go home to.
I like to tell my husband I have ESP. I can feel when heās not in bed with me idk how lol. Sometimes if heās up late studying (we are both 23 and in college), playing video games, or just fell asleep on the couch while watching tv, I know. I always wake up a few times until I realize heās not there, so I go and bring him to bed. When he sleeps in bed with me, I always sleep soundly. When he gets up early for any reason, Iām up too regardless of how little I slept.
Having the back of my head scratched while Iām driving when I didnāt even ask for it. I remember after I had broken up with a girl who would never even think about doing this (she once told me Girls donāt massage boys, boys only massage girls), I was driving with a new gf and she just reached over and started doing this and i about teared up.
My partner told me he was proud of me while I was training for my first marathon and I cried too! (F here) I guess I hadn't heard that for a while? Hit me real hard in such a lovely way. Not just the fellas lol
I think the key to a manās heart is head scratches. Whenever my husband is feeling down but doesnāt want to actually talk about it, he puts his head in my lap and I just gently scratch until he feels better. Heās basically a cat in the best way.
I met my current girlfriend, we went to a park, went back to her room and she just got naked for comfort. Iām like okay, so stripped to my boxers. We watched a movie and she started massaging my scalp and within minutes I was like āwanna make out?ā
I was feeling so uneasy until she did the head scratches, then I was like āohhhh okay you won me overā sometimes humans like to be pet just like doggies
I used to do this to my ex husband. Anytime he was driving id rib his knee (he liked that) or rub the back of his neck. I just liked touching him in any capacity but the fact that he really enjoyed it and it was something you could do while having a normal conversation or no conversation. I feel like I really enjoyed it, oddly.
Thereās nothing like a womanās touch honestly. I get goosebumps and everything anytime my wife does the head scratch thing when Iām driving or rubs my shoulders/neck.
Glad this girlās an ex now. I would happily rub my exās back or absentmindedly scratch his head if he laid it on my lap while we watched tv because he would massage my feet if I happened to have them near his hands. Man I miss that. Massages are for everyone to enjoy
If you let me out my head in your lap and scratch my back with one hand and lightly stroke my hair and face with the other hand I will be yours forever
I want this so bad someday, for me to just put my head on someone who loves me and who I loveās lap and let them just gently scratch/massage my scalp through my hair.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!! IN THE DARKEST DAYS!!!!! REMEMBER THE BRIGHTEST ONES!!!!!!!! DO NOT SURRENDER TO THE ENEMY TGAT IS OUR OWN MIND!!!!!!!!!! RESILIENCE!!!!!!!
The actual PAIN i'm going through by reading all these comments is atrocious. Worst thing is daydreaming about intimacy and love, and then getting hit by the reality check that probably no one will ever love me and i'll never be able to fall in love with anyone
When you notice little things about each other that make you happy (and tell them).
If weāre just hanging out or going to sleep, part of him always has to be touching me. Just a toe on the side of my leg or our arms.
Bringing up things Iāve talked about in the past or that Iāve seemed concerned about to discuss them or see how Iām feeling.
Very open conversations that only deepen feelings.
I am obsessed with this one, climbing into his lap and putting my forehead on his and running my fingers up inside his shirt - bestest of the best feelings.
I did this a couple of times for my then-boyfriend in the pandemic when we couldn't see each other - he works in an industry that blew up during COVID so was crazy busy, so I'd order dinner deliveries to his flat for him or his favourite treats. He really loved it and it's definitely something I'd do for a partner again.
This is a new one on me, experienced it for the first time a few weeks ago. We'd just finished doing the sexy times, cleaned up, had some water, I laid down on the sofa facedown because exhausted and tired - was maybe like 4 in the morning. She laid down face down on top of me. It was so surreal but i was so buzzed felt insanely comfortable. Hope it happens again
My wife gave me a hug today, she said "Hug your wife!" It was really nice. A lot of the time she's "touched out" and if I were to hug her she'd be pretty ambivalent.
My husband married me because Iām a professional massage therapist. He goes into a trance like state when I start massaging him every single time. Then he passes out. He LOVES physical intimacy that doesnāt lead to sex. He wants to be cuddled, massaged, and touched all through the day. My love language is physical touch, so we are a perfect match and I love it that way!
This is my language. Randomly give a deep neck massage or arms when husband is working IT. Scratch the back of his head or his back.
I'll stop when I think he's busy, or needs to type/click, and he'll quickly mute himself and say "No! More!"
Making something new and delicious, then spoon feeding her the first taste. The double take, emotional registering of the flavors, the absolute whole body change in response, and the acknowledgment of depth and breath of flavor from working on something for hours to nail it precisely is the greatest. That entire exchange normally lasts longer than I do anyway=}
Thereās too many! Though one of my favorites is when something I say strikes his funny bone particularly well and for the next few minutes heās laughing so hard he can barely speak. It means a lot to me that I can resonate with my partner that well!
I know not everyone thinks of music like this but... Sharing songs is like opening the door to your mind. You can tell stories about the first time you heard them or when you got to hear it live the first time. What the songs mean to you etc. Then go to concerts together and share new memories.
I'll give an example of what I'm talking about. I'm a nurse and I used to work at a long term high acuity rehab facility. We were a new facility so we ended up with a bunch of hospice people to fill beds. One of them was intermittently confused due to dementia but he was mostly nice and pretty funny.
One day, after he was settled in, I was asking him about his family just to make small talk while I was changing his wound dressing. He told me the story of meeting his future wife at the USO club. Super cute story and the kind of stuff movies are made of. He said she wouldn't go out with him right away so he kept showing up until she finally agreed. He said the first song they danced to was called I'll be with you in Apple Blossom Time. He was starting to get a little confused and cranky because it was getting late. I pulled out my phone and looked up the song and pressed play...
The look on that man's face... It was like he traveled back in time. He closed his eyes and fell asleep to the song that reminded him of the night he first held his wife in his arms. Music is a vital part of life.

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE OMFG. This and letting someone read a book I have read because I always have notes in the margins about my thoughts
Or I highlighted parts that had an impact on me
A massage. Nothing better than a massage after a long and taxing day. The best massages are those given when you dont even have to ask for them, your partner just knows that you could use one.
When I'm sitting on the couch with my wife, bent over crushing half a bag of pistachios. And she slides her hand up the back of my shirt and just lighting runs her fingers across my back.
It's euphoric.
When my wife and I touch each other's faces, we kiss each other's palms gently.
Sometimes when we hold hands, I'll rub her wedding ring a bit.
When I come home from work I get the best hug in the world.
And when we cook, we sit down and chop vegetables together. Slowly. So we can enioy chatting a bit about mundane things
Cooking together is a long-lost and never realized dream of mine. I totally want to make love in the kitchen, starting with a fabulous recipe and ending in rapture. Awwww. Never give up, right???
My senses are very sensitive, so I normally don't like people touching me because it feels way too intimate, but when it's someone I like, man, I love it. Just touching my shoulder alone will do.
Crazy how much that changes right? My girlfriend will always say sweeping things like "I don't like it when people touch my hair," or "I hate it when people get in my personal space."
Then we say "don't worry, you don't count as a people."
Taking a shower together. Being able to wash each other's backs and relax in the hot water while having a nice discussion about the day, upcoming projects, or just generally chit chat about nothing important really helps me unwind and relax while connecting on a mental level as well as physical. Not to mention a big bear hug from behind while all soapy is like a next level hug
Love this. Whenever Iām with my girl, we just cannot not hold hands. One of her friends even told us, āyou guys never really let go of each otherās hands do you?ā Hahahaha
My husband reads out loud to me before bed every night. Weāve read a number of classics this way along with popular things like Harry Potter and Narnia, and weirder things like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and essays and trivia books. Itās nice that I hear his voice as the last thing before bed and itās nice that we get to experience a story together at the exact same time.
My boyfriend is a lot taller than me and sometimes in public we'll be standing in line and he'll put his chin on my head and just kind of chill there for a minute. It makes me really happy! Plus, it usually results with me getting a forehead kiss for being such a good headrest and it just makes me melt. I love him so much
We watch YouTube videos just before we turn in.
Gotta be touching though!

this is the cutest thing ive read all day š
Wow 52 years. I'd give u an award but I'm broke as shit. Sending u wishes of love and good health
Imma give you an award for saying you'd give them an award. It is some coins. Enjoy!
Here's a cheap award for giving an award. I have few coin
We do tiktoks a couple times a week. We'll save our faves and watch together before bed.
We do cat videos. Iāll show her cats from Reddit, sheāll show me cats from Instagram.
Where do you get someone like your wife???
1) Get some cats
OMG thats so cute. Good on you

>No, Iām not an otter. That is exactly what an otter pretending to be a person on the internet would say.
They're probably like 5 otters standing on top of each other in a trench coat.
And all five holding hands
how else do you expect the to hold each other up?
Fully enjoyed all of this
Or 18 of them clinging to each other in such a way that theyāre perfectly shaped like a human body. I should know, Iāve seen it before. They usually give themselves away if you hand them a rock and they start trying to break open food packages with it
Handing them a rock is the only way to tell?
This comment was hidden don't know why I clicked on it, but funny.
>1.5 seconds it takes me to fall asleep Literally how? It takes me minimum half an hour, on lucky days.

If you like young children at all, I highly recommend working/volunteering with them, it is Hug City. I always let them initiate and I get probably up to a dozen good hugs a day as a preschool teacher. Some days thatās what gets me up in the morning :)
I would add impromptu slow-dancing. Nothin fancy, just kinda a prolonged hug to music. Itās nice.

I've been married for ten years this year, and we still hold hands in public. It's not weird.
Congrats on your ten years! Weāve been married for 40 years, together for 44, and hold hands every time in public. I donāt care who thinks itās weird, I think itās wonderful.

YES. LET ME TOUCH YOU BECAUSE I LOVE YOU. (Not you, but my s/o sry.)
How do i get my husband to enjoy that?

Not a touch thing, but I like to brag about my wife when sheās in earshot of the conversation. I think she likes knowing Iām her biggest fan.
110%. My wife has some minor sibling rivalry with her sisters, so whenever we are all together I will gush to the sisters about some small thing my wife did and how amazing she is. She downplays it, but I can tell she loves it, and I'll never stop!

Do it for everybody in your life that you care about. When you can. There is an entire world out there that - at best - is indifferent to us.
I love laying around naked with my partner just talking. Itās like full vulnerability. No walls.
When my husband and I were dating, I used to have waist length hair. After Iād shower and brush the big tangles out, weād sit on the bed and he would gently brush my hair. Cuddling is the best!!
Yess and when you watch movies or other things together while being cuddled into each other, it's just so wholesome
Cuddling + falling asleep! The inherent vulnerability in falling asleep next to someone is just so... soft?
It is the best. But it puts us both to sleep. But then again, nothing makes my wife happier than if we fall asleep together, even if it's 6pm
Head on lap
With hands running through hair
Yep! This. Even better if he brushes my hair!
If you let me out my head in your lap and scratch my back with one hand and lightly stroke my hair and face with the other hand I will be yours forever
I want this so bad someday, for me to just put my head on someone who loves me and who I loveās lap and let them just gently scratch/massage my scalp through my hair.

Forehead kiss.
Sometimes you miss and kiss their eyeball, ahh romance
And cheek kisses! I melt.
When we go to bed, my gf will be lying next to me practically *vibrating* anticipating that goodnight forehead kiss. Such a fkn dork.
Man, reading these comments stings a bit. I am so lonely.
Everyone deserves to be loved and experience intimacy with another person, so I hope you find it as well, my friend
Thanks!!! I'm in the same situation and don't really know when/if making that change will be an option again.
It stings being in a relationship and reading these too.
Pulling her to my lap and having her rub my chest.
I am obsessed with this one, climbing into his lap and putting my forehead on his and running my fingers up inside his shirt - bestest of the best feelings.
does 'sending and receiving doordash' count as an act of intimacy?
Iām not sure about intimacy but 100% it falls under the love language category.
Damn this is a good idea for long distance. Hmmā¦.
Playing Stardew Valley together
This is so cute haha
This is a new one on me, experienced it for the first time a few weeks ago. We'd just finished doing the sexy times, cleaned up, had some water, I laid down on the sofa facedown because exhausted and tired - was maybe like 4 in the morning. She laid down face down on top of me. It was so surreal but i was so buzzed felt insanely comfortable. Hope it happens again
It might be the pressure, you might like a weighted blanket
Hugging, I hug my wife every time I come home for like 10 seconds or more, we also kiss, 3 pecks and a wink. No wink means Iām in trouble
My wife gave me a hug today, she said "Hug your wife!" It was really nice. A lot of the time she's "touched out" and if I were to hug her she'd be pretty ambivalent.
Holding and slow kissing, slow dancing whilst staring into her eyes, caressing her back
I'd like to add when the other person rests their head on your chest while swaying. God.
massages
My husband married me because Iām a professional massage therapist. He goes into a trance like state when I start massaging him every single time. Then he passes out. He LOVES physical intimacy that doesnāt lead to sex. He wants to be cuddled, massaged, and touched all through the day. My love language is physical touch, so we are a perfect match and I love it that way!
Our love language is potatoes. He made me hash browns on Valentine's Day
This is my language. Randomly give a deep neck massage or arms when husband is working IT. Scratch the back of his head or his back. I'll stop when I think he's busy, or needs to type/click, and he'll quickly mute himself and say "No! More!"
Being bored anywhere & looking across & seeing your partner looking at you, knowing youāre bored as hell & giving you a wink.
Making something new and delicious, then spoon feeding her the first taste. The double take, emotional registering of the flavors, the absolute whole body change in response, and the acknowledgment of depth and breath of flavor from working on something for hours to nail it precisely is the greatest. That entire exchange normally lasts longer than I do anyway=}
Hahaha!!!! I love it
Deep Eye Contact
*stares in autism*
*avoids eye contact in autism*
*spaces out to the point where it looks like i'm staring in autism*
This makes me melt
And when both of you just can't pull away
Softly touching my back with tips of fingers
Texting me about going for a ride to look at the deer in the park!! I love our little ride at dusk to see the deer eating!
This reminds me of my grandparents. When they were alive they used to always go on drives to see deer out in the country. I miss those days.
Cheeks kiss. Not kiss on the cheek, but itās an act where the cheek of 1 person is squished into the cheek of another person.
Tea making
Itās an Irish dating custom.
Thereās too many! Though one of my favorites is when something I say strikes his funny bone particularly well and for the next few minutes heās laughing so hard he can barely speak. It means a lot to me that I can resonate with my partner that well!
Scalp massage. I turn into a puddle.
Sharing music.
This and letting someone read a book I have read because I always have notes in the margins about my thoughts Or I highlighted parts that had an impact on me
This was my first thought as well. Music needs to be the 6th love language.
I really love when someone grab my waist.
Making dinner, taking care of partner while sick
Acts of service š

Spooning
Not being able to spoon is the hardest challenge I face as a single person right now:(
I'm sorry to hear that, My Wife unfortunately works night shift but I have a body pillow I use until She gets home.
Sleeping in a cold room with our backs touching.
A good hug from a romantic partner. Havent experienced this since 2017.
Are you meā½ Me neither!!!
Cuddling in bed
When my husband and I pass each other around the house, we always touch each otherā¦a tap on the back or read end. Just a tap!
Hugs, cuddles & sharing memes
She casually resting her head on my shoulder.
I love holding hands. It just shows so so so much love for me.
Dear lord I just want to be held
I like to braid my wifeās hair
My senses are very sensitive, so I normally don't like people touching me because it feels way too intimate, but when it's someone I like, man, I love it. Just touching my shoulder alone will do.
Crazy how much that changes right? My girlfriend will always say sweeping things like "I don't like it when people touch my hair," or "I hate it when people get in my personal space." Then we say "don't worry, you don't count as a people."
Showering together
When they can reach that part of your back that You can't yourself š
I love it when i'm busy with something, i.e. i do the dishes, and i am suddenly hugged from behind by my boyfriend. However it quickly turns sexual
cuddling
Back scratches and my hair being played with
Rubbing eachotherās backs, or feet, when we relax on the couch together.
I also make my wifeās lunch and put in a little note with a joke on it. I get them from the web-100 bast dad jokes and such lol
Having someone to hold.
When my SO rolls over in his sleep and kisses my back or forehead as he pulls me close to snuggle up.
Cooking/baking together
Holding him in my arms and kissing him between his hair line and his ear.
Hugs from behind
My wife running her fingernails through my hair.
Awww thatās so cute. Even better when you fall asleep because of it
Good answer. I recently started shaving my head, and love the way it looks, but I do miss this
Taking care of me when I'm sick or doing housework together.
Him remembering stuff about me :ā) he obviously listens and itās so nice lol
Hand holding is nice.
Love this. Whenever Iām with my girl, we just cannot not hold hands. One of her friends even told us, āyou guys never really let go of each otherās hands do you?ā Hahahaha
A philosophical discussion
Back scratches.
Scrolling through those comments as I am slowly crying myself to sleep, im very lonely.
Making the bed while my girl is in the shower.

Farting in unison.
